Good morning. 44, sunny, waiting for the rain, storms and wind advisory, for tonight all the way through tomorrow.
Gareth, I have said that many times, since starting to date, we all have some sort of issues, at our ages, there is no getting around it. The monitor I am working with right now called what Tony might be looking for as: "a nurse with purse". Haha, but I don't believe he is really like that. But I really do not know him well enough yet, so who knows? I hope your storms aren't too nasty, but you get a lot of rain.
Robin, I have no idea if the friends of Tony are new or not. He did say his nurse friend does not like going to evening things, so he is looking for someone to go to things like plays, concerts, etc. He is booked up for traveling a lot this year, as he is a bit worried, he does not have a lot of time left. Brians' mom has passed away. I guess the 2nd wife was a real witch. But that is normal to hear, after a divorce. Good luck with getting your DH settled on a diet that works for him health wise, and one he likes. What a pain, right?
Marsha, I know I have mentioned Howie before, as the 4 of us have gone out to eat before, maybe a few months ago, but you may have been gone at that time, not sure. Not sure if I referred to him by his name at that time, maybe just DD's fiancés dad. Yeah, with Tony it will be just a nice friendship. Oh, I hate ants in the house, we used to get them every year out at the house, but the little, tiny ones. I used Terro, I think it's called.
Anngie, yes, I was happy Tony was clear, but with meeting him, I knew he was not what I would want for a romance, so to speak. But he is a very personable man. Lol, speaking of boxes, you should see the boxes I haul up for packing!! They are all small to almost mid-sized, so I can manage them. I would rather do more trips up and down the stairs than risk getting hurt. Speaking of getting hurt, as I was walking through the playground yesterday, I was hit pretty hard in the upper chest by a flying football. I never saw it coming, so I was a bit mad at myself, as I am usually good at ducking in-between the games the kids are playing.
Carol, yes, exactly what I think Tony will do, with the women. I think he is pretty lucky to have so many. But I did notice that he would confuse me with one of the other ones, as to what he had previously told me or her. He will be 75 in June, so his mind is showing wear and tear with keeping people straight.
Pinky, I hope you got a decent amount of rain. They are saying we could get a bit over an inch of rain total, starting tonight, which would be great. Yes, it will be nice to have a male friend, whenever he is around, and not going on a trip, lol.
I called the apartment office and once again had to leave a message. I was a bit firmer, stating I needed to hear from them, as it has been 5 weeks dealing with this, when I was told it should take 2 weeks. I did get a message while working, with some woman I never dealt with before, (so the count of cooks in the kitchen is up to 4!!) stating all paperwork has been submitted but expect a letter from the advisory board that I will not be accepted because my income is too much for the apartment I was applying for. The only other apartment I would be approved for would be a 2 bedroom at $1295 a month. Needless to say, I am more than furious. I am actually upset. What a waste of time. Tony was really pushing his complex, so I will look into that, after work today. He is only 8 miles away from here, so that is not bad. The big selling point with his place is underground parking. So yesterday was NOT a good day whatsoever, between getting hit in the chest, and then that voicemail. I did get some boxes of stuff over to Unity. Will chip away at all that, this week.

Oh Karen, I know you are disappointed about that apartment. Wouldn't it be nice if they could let you figure this out for yourself before you went through all this! I am glad you said that you were looking for smaller boxes. I was thinking about how it would be for you to carry down a small box. One thing about these men, as I was thinking that Tony mixed up who he told what, it's a good thing you got the scam artist over with in the very beginning so you learned your lesson on that kind of thing. So you will not be the nurse with the purse. But, if he is talking about taking you out to concerts and Packers games, and paying for you even as friends, that does not sound like what he is looking for.
It's a beautiful day here, but not as hot as the 80 degrees it was at yesterday, which is great. A few years ago, DH started to resurface our deck. With all the surgeries he has had, he has a lot of decking material in the front of the house, and our village wants it moved, so DS2 is stopping by to help me. I thought the bundles were not that heavy, but I only could move the top few, then they got heavier, so he will help. They also had been more wet, so what was around them was heavy and soggy. But, we'll probably get it finished up in 15 minutes.

DH found an old bottle of bug stuff and sprayed it up in the cracks where we think the ants are coming from and so far I've only seen 1 since then. Hopefully that took care of the rest of them, or at least most of them. Either that or they are planning a big attack.
Karen - I am so sorry about the apartment! What a pain those people have been dragging you along like that and now this! Pulaski is not really that much further than where you are now, and since your family is all on the west side it won't be too bad. What about the idea of living in the same complex as Tony? Is that ok?
I went to the Y this morning and had a good workout. I think I'm back on track after missing 2 days last week. Our new recliner is coming this morning. They were there when I left for work. DH is going to see if the delivery guys will put the old recliner out on the curb and then we'll put a sign on it "free" and hope someone takes it away before it starts raining tonight. Next I have to look for either a coffee table or a new ottoman. I'm thinking a coffee table or an ottoman with storage. Or possibly one of those ottomans that have the trays you can put on them if you want to use them like a coffee table. The dog will be unhappy. The only piece of furniture she is now allowed on in that room is our old ottoman and when that goes away she will be stuck on the floor.

Good Morning----rainy and windy here today. It is 48 degrees now and going to 50 so not much change in temps as day goes on. We did thunder and lightening at different times during the night and it started raining at 1 am. We had about an inch or more of rain, haven't checked the rain gauge yet to know for sure. It rains hard for awhile and then almost stops and the wind is crazy at times. Sounds like how are day will go as the rain and wind are supposed to last through tomorrow morning. About 70 miles west of here they had 60 MPH winds----here it was not that strong and hopefully will not be.
This makes the farmers happy as we are so dry and the forecasters say we could get 2-3 inches. DH and sons started planting corn on Saturday along with a few other farmers. Some have chose to wait with the weather report of this rain moving in. It depends a lot on how many acres you have and if it is a lot you just want to get started and see how things are working with your planter and such.
Karen----So sorry about the apartment not working out. Is your apartment you are in now still available so you could change your mind on it? Also is the 8 miles to Tonys area close to your work and DD"s and is there an apartment available there? So many questions I asked----I guess I am just thinking out loud. I am sure it will all work out but what a mess. And then to get hit by that football----it surely was a Monday for you!!!! Thankful though that it didn't hit you in the face.
Robin----Nice of your DS#2 to come help you with the decking supplies. Yes about the 80 degree temps----it got to 85 here on Saturday and I thought this is too hot for April.
I am going to catch up on some things in the house with the rain today. I had planned to get a few more things done with organizing and such before we got busy with fieldwork and I would need to be out in the seed shop office a lot more so I am happy with that.
I came up for Bright Lights Big Christmas by Mary Kay Andrews to listen too, so I have that downloaded. I had been on the waiting list since right after Christmas and just now got it so it must be good. I am not sure it is the time to listen to a Christmas book but oh well.
Hi to all!

Oh, Karen, I’m so sorry the apartment fell through! Apparently that one “cook” didn’t know what she was talking about and spoke out of turn. Will you stay where you are on a monthly basis (I think you once said you could but it’s expensive) until you find another place? It’s too bad they can’t inform people yes/no sooner than five weeks. I’m sorry. Never heard the phrase “nurse with a purse” before! I suppose it’s possible but you will soon find out - if he insists on paying then it’s probably not the case. I guess you will, however, be careful of what you tell him - who knows where that information will go!
Robin, oh no, so who do you think contacted the neighborhood association? Or maybe someone rides around looking for problems. That happens, too. Anyway, be careful how you lift - you don’t need to hurt your back. You have a good son, there!
Marsha, here’s what we used: 1 1/2 tbl. Borax, 1 1/2 cup warm water and 1/2 cup sugar. Dissolve it all and soak large cotton balls and set them on paper plates in various areas. The sugar attracts them to the plate and the Borax kill’s them. It works.

Anngie - thanks for the ant repellant recipe. We have the big black ones. i'm hoping I've seen the last of them but if not, I'll try your idea. We also have wasps. We always get them. I think they nest behind the siding so they are just starting to appear. We see them occasionally on the window in the kitchen. We have the double hung windows and they will be stuck behind the inside pane. Sometimes they show up in the family room and we think they somehow get in through the fireplace vents. There may be a nest up there too. If we end up having a bug guy come out to deal with the ants, I'll ask him to deal with the wasps too.

Karen, so sorry that apartment fell through. That other woman shouldn't have told you it was an almost done deal. Do you think it'd be a good idea living in the same complex as Tony if it doesn't work out even being just friends? Have you looked at renting an apartment in a privately owned house instead of a complex? When I was first married to my first DH we lived in a really nice one. It was a house with an upper and lower apartment. We started out in the upper and moved downstairs when it came available.
Marsha, maybe lay a blanket down on the end of the couch to make a spot for Mitzie?
Robin, with diverticulitis I think it's different for everyone. DDIL doesn't dare eat nuts or seeds or she'll have a bad flare up. She can't even eat peanut butter.
Anngie, thanks for asking about DGS. Since he started infusions it's really helped.
Pinky, glad you're getting the needed rain. I'm sure all the farmers are happy.
Carol, how's DDIL doing now she's home?
We're under a wind advisory all day. It did rain early morning with a lot of thunder that woke me up. Not sure if the rain amounted to anything much. More is predicted through Thursday. Severe storm warning this afternoon.
I finally have an appointment with the dr at the pain center. The earliest appointment isn't until June 3rd but they have me on a waiting list. Must be a lot of people with pain. I wonder if I'll get an injection the same day or if it's just a consultation about it.
DH was notified this morning about a meeting for going on the next honor flight June 11th with DS as his chaperone. Even though they've both been to DC and have seen all the monuments and Arlington Cemetery it'll still be a great experience for both of them.

Karen, I would be livid! After you jumping through the hoops and getting all the info to them, then for them to go "never mind, you can't live here." I hope you find something soon.
We talked to DS and DDIL last night and DDIL is feeling better. She still doesn't know when she will be back at work. Her follow-up appointment is next week and will be done via video. They did go out to eat over the weekend instead of DS just picking up food and bringing it home.
It is the 80s again, but windy and humid. We should get rain later in the week.
I have used both Terro and the borax mixture for ants. Just be warned when they come out to eat the stuff, there will be hundreds of them out. It is disconcerting to see them swarming like that.
For most of time we have lived here, the house across the street has been a rental. We have not seen the people who were in it for at least a month, maybe more. The trash cans have been on the curb all that time. The trash collectors don't even stop at the house. Since it's been warm, the grass is getting taller and the property is looking scroungy. We are wondering who to call to complain or to find out if the house is empty, maybe code enforcement. If the water is still turned on, someone must be getting the bills. There is no garage, but a carport with a lot of stuff on it. And there is a trampoline in the front yard which I think is strange and tacky.

Taking a late, really late, lunch break. I am glad I did not volunteer to help out before the event tonight, (women's seder), the secretary was just called by the school to pick up her DD because they think she might have Covid. So, I will stay until closer to 5. A client called to cancel her Appt for tomorrow, also sick. I said don't be surprised if you have Covid. It's still going around.
Marsha, glad you got the recliner. I wonder about why they pull in behind a car. Great job on getting to the gym.
Anngie, on Long Island we have a lot of Incorporated Villages, so not an association, but an actual governing body with a Mayor, trustees, and staff. They are responsible for our snow plowing on all but the 2 main roads, and also contract with a carting company for garbage. Technically they would go to the back of our house to pick up our garbage if we want, but it's been a long time since we threw our garbage out there. The building inspector drives around sometimes to see if anyone is building something without a permit, so he saw it. DS said it was good that he did, because otherwise it would have sat there forever, or until we got the house on the market anyway, and I have no idea when we might do that.
Pinky, I read Bright Lights Big Christmas, I always mix those kind of books in. I will bet that there is never exactly the right amount of rain, you either get too much, or it is too dry.
Gareth, congrats on your DH going to DC again. Sorry about your weather issues this week.

Carol, for a change I left a message up and you popped in. What I find really strange is that our village does not have a code about keeping the lawn mowed, but they would end up getting ticketed for their garbage cans being out. That does sound strange to have the trampoline on the front lawn. Our neighbors across the street have a huge trampoline in their side yard. They are on a curve, and the trampoline is shielded by trees, so it can be seen but not that bad. Glad to hear your DDIL is feeling better.

Carol - I would think if you call your city offices there is someone you could talk to who would take a complaint if the house looks abandoned and is becoming an eyesore, then they would probably at least send a letter to the homeowner. Our neighbors across the street who moved in about 18 months ago frequently do things in their front yard that seem to me like backyard activities, like throw the ball with their kid or play with the dog. They have a huge fenced back yard and the front yard is much smaller.
