For something more serious, here's an article about lean proteins to consume and why. There's additional information about proteins in general plus specifics about each type of lean protein mentioned. And, not unlike yesterday, I imagine most of us know most of the foods mentioned as being "lean" ones, there is information beyond the fact that they're "lean." Note: also listed for each is a count of the amount of protein, calories and fat, in case that's of interest too.

The 11 Best Lean Protein Foods to Eat By Jillian Kubala, RD ... Updated on February 6, 2024 Medically reviewed by Kayla Girgen, RD ... Consuming protein-rich meals and snacks is essential for health and can support muscle growth and help you maintain a healthy body weight.
Though protein needs vary, experts suggest that most active people need to take in between 1.2-2.0 grams (g) of protein per kilogram (kg) of body weight per day (0.54-0.9 g per pound (lb)). Keep in mind that this is more than the recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for protein, which is currently set at 0.8 g/kg of body weight (0.36 g/lb)). - - - - -
Here are the items in the article: In This Article 1. Chicken Breast 2. Protein Powders 3. Beans and Lentils 4. Cottage Cheese 5. Greek Yogurt 6. Fish and Shellfish 7. Turkey Breast 8. Tofu 9. Lean Beef 10. Egg Whites 11. Venison How to Get More Lean Protein In Your Diet
Also, not unlike yesterday, here are today's questions: 1. Did you learn anything new? 2. Is there anything you can add? 3. What's on your mind today? 4. [in lieu of "FUN"] Are your thoughts fostering your growth, or could you choose more nurturing ones?
I don't use protein powders and I eat whole eggs (not just the whites); I don't eat the meat of four-legged animals, and I steer clear of most cottage cheese brands because of the higher-than-I'm-comfortable-with sodium (I once found a lower sodium cottage cheese, I think it was 1% fat, and I bought that brand for a few years, but I don't remember its name and can't find a lower sodium one now, so I guess I don't eat cottage cheese any longer either..). I did know about each listed item...

I eat all those protein sources except tofu. I also eat the whole egg rather than just the whites. I usually use whey protein powder when I make smoothies.
I'm going to try to get a referral to an ENT so I can find out about this cough that I've had since the fall of 2019 after having had a cold. I want to see what if anything can be done about it. That is what is foremost on my mind right now.
At the moment I'm just sitting here watching the wildlife passing through my yard. There has been a deer, pheasants, and partridges. Also blackbirds hanging around on the trees and walking on the ground. There are robins too, but I haven't heard any singing yet, but then I haven't had any doors or windows open either. I saw a meadowlark up the road a ways, but none have been in my yard area yet. I've heard crows, but they haven't been in my line of sight. It's been cloudy, foggy, and rainy this morning and no hints of sunshine yet. So I'm going to find things to do around my house and wait until the weather gets better before going outside to do things in the yard.

I think I get plenty of protein, mostly in the form of eggs, chicken & beans.
I don't like tofu & I have eaten vinison before, but I really have no access to it not & I hate to think about eating Bambi.
I am sitting in DH's room at the re hab center, hopefully he will be going home on Friday. I miss him being at home, even though it is a lot of work, I miss cooking healthier meals for the 2 of us.

Weather was on my mind today (we got rain, but not any strong storms, that is good) and was thinking of an extended family member who had a medical appointment today...thankful, she got good news.

I am avoiding some known triggers that will bring my thoughts down...like only tapping in to see what the news is a couple times a day. Wish there was a "good news only" channel!
