People over 60 have a different metabolism than those who are younger, and weight loss gets harder as one ages. This thread is for us.
Join us! Share your ideas, your successes, your frustrations. Offer support. Get advice from folks who are on a similar journey.
Our challenge is to stay on plan, exercise and keep trying to lose weight while improving our overall health -- and maintaining a positive attitude!
Think about where you were and how you felt when you made the initial decision to join The Senior WW Challenge. Close your eyes and remember when you said to yourself “Enough is enough and I’m getting in shape!” On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are you? You really need to be an eight or higher! If not, you should probably reevaluate your thoughts and feelings about regaining great health in your life.

So this morning Rosie decided at 3:15 she wanted to go out. So she took one of her smaller balls we got her at PetSmart and started dropping it on the floor which woke me up. So I got up and took her out. She decided she wanted all her babies and bed brought out as she was up! So got it all out and started my coffee as I knew sleep was done for me. Came out of the kitchen and she was back in her bed fast asleep!
Still pretty windy but I guess it’s supposed to let up as Fred is planning on golfing and he won’t golf in high wind as that’s no fun. I just checked my weather app and looks like high winds all day today so Fred will probably not be golfing after all. I have no plans myself except a trip to the Walmart by us and also Fred cut out some coupons for Hy-Vee that he wants to use.

Greetings! Just checking in as nothing new here. I work a longer shift today 10-5. Then I'm off tomorrow. Like I said yesterday something is going on at Publix. You can feel it in the air but nobody's talking. Of course, traffic is significantly less than a few weeks ago as "snowbirds" have headed home.
Tomorrow the pool people come out to checkout the pool pump and give me the bad news on what it's going to cost.

Sandy high winds today here too and probably windier because we are near the edge of town. I really wanted to work on a landscaping project but I don’t want something in my eye. The hostas have never done well under the giant Norway spruce. I want to dig them up and move them to another place. It will require removing mulch and weed barrier around the boxwood bushes where they’d do better. Maybe I can at least start the project.
I’ve invited DD Laura and Scott for dinner Friday for Scott’s birthday the following week. Also to ask for an opinion on the flooring choices. I’ll be making a pot roast and vegetables. This would be something Laura can have on her Medi-Weightloss diet. So far she’s lost 62 lbs and her goal is 70 lbs. I’m proud of her. I don’t care for the plan but won’t say anything to discourage her. It’s somewhat keto type eating which I think is not as healthy as other diets.
I have a silly Q today as it’s all I can think of.
QOTD: for those of you that watch television with ads, what are one or two ads that make you laugh or even annoy you?

Good morning 🌞.
It is a beautiful 66° out going up to about 88 today. I guess Spring 🌼 🌱 is finally here and we're heading into ⛱️ 🌞 Summer 🏝️.
I love pot roast. It is probably one of my favorite meals. I truly love good home cooking and old fashioned food like fried chicken, pot roast and stew...
None of which is terribly Weight Watchers friendly LOL.
I think I mentioned that I replaced all the carpet on my stairs and upstairs with luxury vinyl about 2 years ago. I have been so happy with my choice. I actually wound up going with one of the top of the line floors from Lumber Liquidators. I did a great deal of research and chose the luxury vinyl primarily because of Dash.
It just looks beautiful and it's so easy to keep clean too.
I love Rosie but I don't know if I would love her at 3:30 in the morning. 😁

Not a beautiful day here, drab and windy. 55* going to 66* not sure we will see sunshine ☀️. Not much on the agenda, had hopes of some sunshine, I bought 2 squares of some kind of plant yesterday at Walmart marked down to 69 cents each. Don’t know the name but will find out if I can with my plant identifier app. They are real tiny with 4 spiky leaves and a tiny purple blue cluster flower reminded me of a grape hyacinths, want to get them in the damp soil. If that is what they are, I feel they multiply but I am placing them inside a concrete block circle with a small Angel statue in the center. Only 8 plants so should take a while to fill that circle. ⭕️ I believe they are a spring bulb.
No humming bird siting here yet but a small monarch butterfly was certainly enjoying the nectar yesterday after the storm. Went out yesterday after the rain to look for mushrooms but didn’t find any. Maybe today.
Going to make cabbage soup today and have my meals for today jotted down, now to stick to plan. I have strayed so far off the path the last couple of weeks, definitely need to rein things in. Bought 6 multi orange colored roses yesterday at Walmart instead of candy, cookies, crackers or chips. Not in the habit of buying myself flowers but why not.
Will sprinkle a bit more Deer deterrent out today after the rain. Directions say I really don’t need to but should once a week for about three weeks then about once a month. Well worth if I can save my flowers and it helps keep the deer, raccoons, rabbits, and those pesky ground squirrels away. Things look greener out my window this morning, trees and shrubs are leafing out.
Need to take a letter to mail box , feed the cat and hang bird feeders. Didn’t have the best night, first I was to hot, removed some blankets the I felt cold so added one back. By then it was to close to morning.
Have a super day doing what you enjoy. My thoughts are with Ruthie this morning., among others that need prayer.

Karen E - I'm so pleased that you are buying yourself flowers to plant around your Angel statue and then orange roses to brighten your day inside! I love to bring a small group of fresh flowers home to add some color and cheer me up!
It's getting gray outside and will rain today and tomorrow. Hopefully the weather will be better on Friday (our 56th Anniversary) as we have plans to dine out at lunchtime. We have a lovely historic restaurant that has a lovely menu at lunch time with smaller portions at a lower price. The dinner menu doubles the protein portion and the price along with it (and it's always too much food for us). We'll be able to stop at our local public library and drop off our mail-in ballots at their secure drop off box inside the entrance. We like going to this location with our ballots as this location is manned by volunteers that ensure the required signature and date are on the back of the sealed ballot envelope and that each person is depositing only their own ballot. There are special considerations/requirements for someone dropping off a handicapped person's ballot.
Prayers for Ruthie!

Good afternoon!
It's pretty windy today and we'll be in the low 70s. We had storms move through last night but I must have been extra tired because I slept right through them.

Nothing new here. I tried calling to schedule the HVAC inspection but no one answered and I didn't want to leave a message so I'll try calling back today. I got my mail-in ballot yesterday, so I'll get that filled out this afternoon so it can get mailed back tomorrow. I also need to put the grocery order in for Friday.
Karen E, Indy is very, very excited about Caitlin Clark coming here to play for the Indy Fever. I heard the season tickets are selling like hotcakes!

AOTD: I get a big kick out of those Progressive commercials about young people turning into their parents.

Hello Friends!
Pretty tired today as I couldn't fall asleep. Once I got to sleep I slept well. It will be a busy rest of the week. Today I teach 3 yoga classes and go to book club at a Greek restaurant, Acropolis. Mike will be home later this afternoon. Tomorrow I have Bunco at a friends. I am making Spinach and Strawberry salad. Yarn club will be in the evening. Then Friday I teach 2 yoga classes and head to my Yarn retreat. I still have to finish packing.
Sharon, Congrats to your DD, Laura. That is AWESOME! It is about how much weight my niece, Jen, lost over a year ago and has kept it off. She looks amazing and it has changed her life. The diet which was paid for by the Doctor's office she works for was such a blessing. She is going to be 48 this year and I am sure she would have started having health issues.
AOTD: Some of the Publix ads can be annoying because they play the same one 3 or 4 times in a row. They have become pretty innovative with their ads. I loved the Publix Wedding Day ad and the the photography in the new Symphony of Publix ad is amazing. We pay extra for no ad Hulu, but now we do get ads, just not very many.

Vicky, I also believe Indy is excited with Caitlin Clark pick. Ticket will sell and at an increased cost. Believe I read that all the new Caitlin Indy #1 shirts sold out so fast that unless you want a small size you are out of luck for now. Of course there will always be more shirts to come. I was also so happy to see Kate Martin was a Las Vagas Aces draft pick. She was only there to support Caitlin but they announced her name. She is such a gracious player herself.
QOTD: for those of you that watch television with ads, what are one or two ads that make you laugh or even annoy you? I get a kick out of the adults advertising the Gold Gummy Bears. They change their voices to sound like kids, standing squeezing those little gummies. I have said Progressive ad’s are a lying especially Flo. Now I do have Progressive Auto Insurance. Very annoyed with all the Medicare adds and Prescription drugs ones..
Yes, Sharon congratulations to your Daughter Linda. Awesome amount of weight. I fully believe it isn’t that one program is best for everyone. Just find something that works for you personally and stick to it and make it work. Loosing weight is never a real easy thing, staying at that ideal weight isn’t either. So proud of her.

My good intentions went away. I was going to shower, dress, library, drug store, and get gift cards . It is almost 3:00 and none of that is done. So now I will do it tomorrow. I got involved in my email since I got one from the dinner theater. I wanted to compare it to my requests and then I wanted to print it. Well that became a problem that took me so much time . I was determined I could get the printer to work and went back and forth from the kitchen to Don’s office and the printer was doing nothing. After over an hour I decided to use my computer. Still didn’t print so tried a different way and went to look at the printer just being irritated and as I walked out of the room it cooperated. Well I thought now it will probably keep printing over and over but it did one partial page and then three correct ones. I got my requests for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and Mother’s Day. Because I don’t list choices for those shows. The other four shows I list three choices and got my first date for three and my second date for the other. I only picked Sundays for those four shows. The traffic will be a bit less on Sundays. I have a show every month from October to June except February. But if they do the clubhouse concerts there will be at least one in February. I like having something to look forward to.
Sharon your DD has done great..Shragae. So glad you don’t need another surgery. Ruth you are certainly busy.
I saw a picture on Facebook from my DDIL. Jeff had told me they were going to Tennessee to see Adam Ant and she put pictures and he performed in The Cavern..everyone has to stand and the cavern is huge. I can’t imagine going to a rock concert in a cave!

We headed to the flooring store this morning with all the samples and put our order in. We are getting a Mohawk LVP Explorers Cove in Metal Smoke. It’s just a light oak pattern. They are scheduled out to June so we’ll probably opt for July and after the wedding.
Joan I did play the quiz and did not do well I only got 5 right! But I enjoyed humming the tunes.
Vicki I too like the Progressive commercial about turning into your parents. The funny thing is the doctor is older than they are. I also like the mayhem commercials by Allstate. Oh yes the Harbo ads either adults speaking in wee voices, love it. Ruth I always loved the Publix thanksgiving and Christmas ads.
I’m annoyed with the prescription medicine commercials where they dance and make everything rosy. And have you ever noticed in car commercials there are never any other cars on the road?
I’ve made the bolognese for dinner. Spaghetti and salad. Done.

Commercials. Subaru. How can you not love the dogs driving the cars? The puppy getting the big truck to honk. I didn’t even know kids did that until I took first graders from Dayton to the Cincinnati zoo. So I learned that from 6 year old. Then the one where the pups go to the park to play and the kitten stays in the car because no pets are allowed. Then the Budweiser commercials with the clysdale (why can’t spellcheck correct ..it corrects everything else!) and the dogs. Publix the thanks dad wedding commercial still makes me tear up?

QOTD: for those of you that watch television with ads, what are one or two ads that make you laugh or even annoy you? I like the Allstate and Progressive ads too. I laugh at the new one playing here for the Club Crackers and the one lady is singing in a deep voice. I too don't like the pharmacy/medicine ads. Very annoying!
Sharon, I didn't do well either. Not a movie buff. I knew the songs, but not where they are from. Haven't looked at this weeks yet. Guess I better before she sends me the answers on Friday or Saturday. I do enjoy doing them even if I'm not good at them.
Sounds like everyone has been busy. Haven't seen Marlo or Gail post in a few days. Hopefully they are okay.
Wishing everyone a great Thursday.
