Good morning. Rainy day, 51 now, going to just 62.
Robin, I totally understand Tony mixing me up with the other women he talks to, as with the men I have dated, I have to stop and think, did so and so say that, or was it the other guy? Lol, I don't think our minds are up to dating at this age. Exactly, he stressed to me that he will pay the bill for wherever we go, such as dinner or an event. I like the man, but just as a friend so I would not mind living in the same complex as him. You had 80 the other day? I would have had to turn on the a/c. So far I have been able to keep it cool with it being in just the 70's.
Marsha, how is it going so far with the old stuff your DH found for the ants? I won't mind having Tony around, if it comes to that. And about my family being on the west side, last Saturday DD1 took Howie and I over to a house they are moving to in early May, which is in the Preble Park area. So, they will be way across town. But that is fine, I am happy they are getting away from the neighborhood they have been in for 17 years. Did the old recliner go before the rain? I hope so. Oh oh, poor Mitzi.
Pinky, glad you are getting a good soaking rain, but the winds can just go away, right? Northern WI had high winds yesterday afternoon with quite a few outages, but so far this area has not had it very bad. I will not stay here at all, I have given my notice, and refuse to have to stay. Something will come up, I am sure. The spot that the football hit on my chest was very close to the site that I had my port put in, when I was getting chemo. I was honestly hurting when that happened, but I think all is ok. (I was lucky) Hope you were able to get a lot done yesterday.
Anngie, thanks, about the apartment. I am holding out a sliver of hope, waiting for the official word, with that letter. I have come to not trust those jokers working in the office. I will not stay here a moment longer than I have to. I have heard the phrase nurse with a purse recently, with it being referred to senior citizens dating more. That is good to know about the ant poison recipe, who knows, I might need it too.
Gareth, thank you. I agree about the woman telling me I would get the apartment. That whole set up is just a huge joke. If I knew who to file a complaint with I would. I feel comfortable with possibly living close to Tony. He is a very nice guy, a gentleman, and there are no romantic feelings on either part, so I think it would work. We had a wind advisory yesterday too, with northern WI losing power, but not here. I don't think it got as windy as last week. I hope you did not get any damage around you; I see on the news just now that there were tornadoes in your state. I am sorry for you all. How nice for your DH about the flight to DC. AND!! How nice you have a mini vacation!!! I am sure you will enjoy being alone for a short time.
Carol, I was livid. But then reality hit, that I need to scramble with finding somewhere else. Then it hit me that I was very upset by having to deal with this whole thing, all because the management company here is so greedy. Yes, I could stay here, but then I would most likely have to keep working for goodness knows how long. My legs have been giving me grief these past few days, so there is that too. Thank you, I am sure something will turn up. Glad to see your DDIL is feeling better. How strange about the rental across your street! If it is vacant, watch out for squatters, as I keep hearing on the news that they take over vacant housing, and refuse to leave! I would call the city about the house.
Need to box up more items to run to the resale shop after work. Then the next thing to tackle is the kitchen. Fun times!

Karen, I am glad you are OK with the idea of moving. If the area that Tony is in would work for you location-wise, then moving would make sense. If you are never romantically involved, and just friends, even if something doesn't work out between you, it wouldn't be bad. I know you sometimes help out with picking the grands up at school, but can't remember if it is DD1's or DD2's. How far will they be from you in your new place, if you move in the other direction, or what I assume would be the other direction. Is Howie still working, or would he help out with odd pick-ups too. I know that happens, as yesterday the secretary got a call from the school nurse that she had to come pick up her DD, the nurse wanted to make sure she didn't have Covid. After a trip to Urgent Care, she did not have Covid, it was her allergies. So today she had to drop her DD off at school and give them the all clear. I don't know what these schools think sometimes, that parents, especially a single mother, can just drop everything and pick up their child.
Pinky, I'll bet with the farmers you spend the whole year thinking about the weather, will there be too much rain, or not enough. Will it be frigidly cold with lots of snow, or a mild winter. Everything affects them.
I just noticed it is getting late. Somehow with what I did bending down constantly yesterday picking up all the little bags of stuff that went with the decking, and how they packed the whole thing like they did I have no idea, because they were all over the place. Gathering all the junk, wet cardboard and things, then carrying the huge garbage bag to the curb, my back ended up hurting this morning. Last night I went to our temple's women's Seder, which was very nice, the food not as much. One of my friends was there, that I could sit with, and was between her and the woman who lives across from where my mother was. Sometimes she sees me and doesn't even say hello, yesterday she couldn't stop talking. We figured out she moved in the year I went away to college, so I didn't know her then. This would be one of the events that I would be in charge of next year. I started talking with the woman I would co-chair with, but then we had to find other seats, because of the way women were saving seats, and had to move to the other side of the room. It ended up being a long day, I didn't get home until 9:00.

It is 43 now and going to 55 for a high today. Still a bit breezy but nothing like it was for a couple days. But the wind is promised to return tomorrow. I see it is misting or a light rain now again and should clear up by noon. We have ended up with 2 inches of rain.
Anngie---thanks for sharing that recipe for ants. I have never really had a problem with them but nice to know of a simple recipe to get rid of them Marsha---Hope your ants are gone for good-----Good Riddance---LOL!
Gareth----June 3rd, wow that is a long time really when one is in pain. I hope they get a cancellation sooner and call you. Great that your DH and DS get to go on the Honor Flight. I know of a few guys that have gone on that and I think it is a wonderful thing. Hope all is okay where you live-----the tornados I have heard about were in NW Iowa and really not all that far from me, about 2 - 2 1/2 hours away. So I would say about half way between us.
Carol----Glad to hear that DDIL is feeling better and was able to go on an outing. That is strange about the house across the street.
Karen---I am happy to hear that you are doing ok after the football incident---yes you were lucky. And it sounds like you are taking the apartment thing well and hopefully that voicemail was wrong after all and you still get in. Are you planning to go over by Tony and look at the apartments in case there is one available? I didn't get as much done yesterday as I wanted because my neck has been hurting it seemed like a good day to make a chiropractor appt. and I was surprised I could get in so off I went and then ran some errands too. DGD is being confirmed this Sunday and I was shopping for a gift for her and also a dress for me. Didn't find the dress but I found 2 pairs of capri's and 3 shirts. I will probably wear a dress I already have.
Robin----Yes the weather is always on a farmers mind but you just have to roll with whatever happens or one can worry themselves to death. I am sure in other businesses there are worries also that we farmers don't even think about. Good deal that the secretaries DD didn't have Covid. Besides the seriousness of Covid then your secretary might have gotten too and been out for a lot of time. Hope your back is better as the day goes on.

Karen - preble park is not near pulaski so I guess my logic didn't hold up! We have seen 1 ant on the counter near where dh sprayed and I saw one upstairs on the carpet in the hall. So either they are mostly dead or like I said, they are planning an assault. DH finally commented that this isn't a permanent solution we'll have to get someone to spray the perimeter of the house but for the time being I don't want to be battling hordes of them while I am cooking for passover so if they are under control for a few weeks I'm ok. The recliner was gone by the time I got home from work. DH is very happy with his new one and it is far too big for me so he will sit there and stay off the couch and I can lie on the couch and fall asleep watching tv. Now I need a new ottoman or coffee table. I'm looking at the ones that have cushions that flip over to become trays. Mitzi is not really an on-the-furniture dog anyway. She is not a cuddler, she prefers to be on her bed across the room keeping an eye on us. I think that's the border collie in her. Did you have that port removed? I hope so, that would have hurt terribly to be hit in the port by the football.
Gareth- that honor flight will be a wonderful experience! I often wished that they had started that earlier so my dad could have experienced it.
Robin - I think it's a bit extreme that they sent your secretary's daughter home for a covid test when all she had was allergies. Are they not allowed to do covid tests at school? I'm glad you enjoyed the seder.
Not much excitement here. I got on the bike this morning. I'm on the last episode of The Crown so next week I'll need something else to watch on the bike. Maybe Killing Eve - I see Netflix added that and I've never seen it. Anyone have any suggestions? It would have to be something that I wouldn't watch with dh. Slow british shows like the crown or silly romances like Virgin River work.

Gareth, how nice that DH & DS get to go on the honor flight! What a great opportunity to do something like this together. Now, what will you plan to do with your free time?
Robin, I know what you mean. Gone are the days when the school nurse let a student sleep on a cot until dismissal. Well, at least they did that in my time!
Karen, I was wondering too, how far Tony’s apartment complex would be from DDs. Is the daughter that is moving the one who was looking to buy a house at some point?
Pinky, boy, severe drought must be a stress that not many can even understand. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen this year. Babies still being born?!
Marsha, that’s perfect that DH loves his new recliner! And even better that the sofa is all yours. I wish, too, that the honor flights started sooner. I know my dad would have really enjoyed it and I would have loved to have gone with him. He died in 1988.
Carol, that is odd about the house across the street. I wonder if someone from the city would make a drive-by if they were contacted. Who knows maybe other neighbors have called too. Glad to hear that your DDIL is feeling better as she’s been through a lot.

Karen, I was surprised to see one of my DF's had shared a video on FB of something she follows and it was the Wyse Guide that you've talked about. Have you checked to see if there's any apartments available in Tony's complex? When do you have to be out of where you are now? Anngie, I'll just have a free day since the honor flight is there and back the same day. It'll be a long day for DH but nice he gets recognized for for his service which he sure didn't get after returning from Viet Nam. DS is really excited to share it with him. Sad your dad and Marsha's didn't get to experience it.
Pinky, yes luckily we escaped the storms/tornado unlike part of the state. We could've used a little more rain like you got but there's more predicted today and tomorrow.
Seems like it's always something. Now we need a new water softener. I was shocked to hear how expensive they are. As hard as our water is we have to have it so have no choice.

Not much going on today. I woke up with a headache so I'm not doing much. It is very humid today. The weatherman called it "juicy" which sound yucky to me. Still supposed to get cooler and wet this weekend.
I have heard about squatters moving into vacant houses. Anyway, we keep an eye on the house mostly just out of curiosity to see if anyone ever shows up. I saw 2 neighbors standing in front of it talking and pointing so others are aware of it. I would have gone out to talk to them but I was in my exercise clothes. DH may call the city.
Marsha, glad DH likes the new recliner.

Our training this morning that was supposed to be 90 minutes ended up being more than 2 hours. And, most of it was not for us, it was for people who never did efiling before and how to set themselves up to efile. We did get some useful information and the "paralegal" and I know what to do to start a guardianship matter, which DS always did himself, and we just added to an existing case if it was needed. I should type up my notes so I have them for when this happens. The other very important thing we learned, which I now have to do after the lunch break I am taking, is to sign up for etracking so they will email us before a court date. Once in a while it doesn't get put onto our calendar correctly and we forget.
Pinky, sorry about your back. Unfortunately chiropractors don't end up helping me for my back, but I saw that DH had a prescription for what I use for my back, that he wasn't using, and had gotten more pills than I will need. Normally they tell me to take 1 a day for 15 days, and I have that. Even the small amount I did with moving the decking materials, and getting everything else picked up, was enough to make it hurt more than usual.
Marsha, so glad that your DH likes his recliner so much, and it will all work out for you. As far as your cocktail table goes, I like the idea of the ones that have the tray on top too. We really need a new table for our den, but I haven't ended up getting one yet.
Gareth, I can tell that DH's retirement is messing with your day. You always used to post earlier in the day than you do now! Yes, with a house, it's always something.
Carol, this time I edited, we were posting at the same time, so yours came up before mine. If you see those neighbors again, maybe ask them their thoughts on it.
