Our challenge is to stay on plan, exercise and keep trying to lose weight while improving our overall health -- and maintaining a positive attitude!
Think about where you were and how you felt when you made the initial decision to join The Senior WW Challenge. Close your eyes and remember when you said to yourself “Enough is enough and I’m getting in shape!” On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are you? You really need to be an eight or higher! If not, you should probably reevaluate your thoughts and feelings about regaining great health in your life.

I knew the songs as well but not many of the movies they were in.
I was surprised that I didn’t take a nap at all yesterday. Rosie did take lots of naps! Little stinker 🐶☺️
The wind didn’t die down but Fred went golfing anyway. He said he was only going to play nine holes but ended up playing 18. He loved it! But later he was pretty stiff after sitting for a while.
My eye injection was supposed to be at 8:30 this morning but the doctor’s office called saying he had a change in his schedule so I could come an hour earlier or an hour later. I opted for the hour later so now it’s for 9:30. He did say that this time besides the injection he would be dilating my eyes. He does this every now and then to get a better look at the whole eye. Not sure how much better it is then looking at all the x-rays they take but oh well. I know I won’t be doing much as it takes about 24 hours for my eyes to get back to normal after being dilated. Of course we have to take Rosie for the final portion of her flu shot at 4:30 today. Hope she doesn’t get too mad as last time she was not very happy about getting stuck at all. But then I don’t think anyone is very happy about getting a shot. I’m just glad a technician holds her for the shot and not me.
Weather will be much cooler for the next few days but warm up again after next week and looks like it will stay in the 70’s which is the weather I love!

Good Morning Friends!
Bunco today and Yarn Club tonight. Yarn Retreat is this weekend. Busy busy busy...
At last night's book club our book was TOM LAKE by Ann Patchett. Out of 14 of us, only me and one other girl liked the book but neither of us loved it. Did anyone here read it? What did you think? I would have given it a 4 out of 5 but only because I was familiar with the area and Michigan cherries.

Good morning 🌞. Can't believe I'm actually wearing shorts for the first time in months! We may even get up to 90° later today. I need to get to the grocery store. Passover begins Monday night and I have not done any shopping. I think this is the worst I've ever been as far as waiting until the last minute! Yesterday a volunteer from the Chabad dropped off a shmura matzo. This is a handmade matzo. Shmurah means “watched" or perhaps even "guarded." Its ingredients have been carefully guarded against leavening. Shmura matzo is scrutinized from before the time the wheat is even harvested. From the time that the wheat is taken to the mill to be ground into flour, all matzo is kept under careful supervision to make sure that it does not come into contact with water or other moisture. There can't be any leaven associated with it. Shmurah matzo is actually guarded from the time it's harvested not just from the time it's taken to the mill. www.chabad.org/holidays/passover/pesach_cdo/aid/1682/jewish/The-Difference-Between-Shmurah-Matzah-and-Regular-Matzah.htmWordle 1,034 3/6 🟨⬛⬛⬛🟨 ⬛⬛🟨🟨⬛ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Hilarious. I just logged on and found this message started on Tuesday. So, here is old news. And I'm going to post it before it gets any older!
Greetings:
Jane, I take exception to your comment yesterday. You did something valuable and worthwhile yesterday. You rested and enjoyed your book and bridge. There is absolutely nothing wrong with relaxation.
I think I'll be a fan, for a while at least, of Caitlin Clark, the basketball player from Iowa. Just skip this entry. As the top draft pick in the WNBA she got a contract for nearly $400,000 for 3 years with the Indiana team. May sound good, but the MALE draft pick with get MILLIONS of dollars,. She wore a beautiful outfit Prada gave her. It looked so nice on her.
Geri, so happy for your move! What color is your kitchen? Do we have your address updated in our address list? I know those aren't probablay the highest on your punch list of things to do, but as long as they are on there.
Going in a few minutes for my massage. I can use that. Still shorting and sifting through paper for taxes.
Shragae, I've lost a little weight and noted a difference in my knees. They still crack and crunch, and I'm working on the quads and hamstrings, so I know. Getting those muscles strengthened is supposed to be a real help. I hope so.
I feel so sorry for Bill. Today he stuck himself 13 times but still didn't get enough blood for a reading on the Diabetes meter. Since he's taking a blood thinner, it does make us wonder just how effective that really is! I offered some of mine, but there is something fundamentally wrong with that. Because of the readings, I've decided we should make a speadsheet on Google that he can pull up and show his doctor his meals. His breakfast is limited to about 3 different menus and his lunches are a piece of fruit with a quarter cup of almonds and pistachios, both good nuts. We have macadamia nuts which turn out to be terrible! Lots of carbs.
We've had great weather but woke to rain this morning. Never complain about rain.
I've never bought black jeans so have nothing to offer.

Happy shorts day Shagrae. I don’t believe I even own any and summers I wear capris. It’s not summer here today. 50s and I hope this time we get rain.
I’ve already been out and dug hostas and replanted them elsewhere. There’s still lots of them and maybe I can give them away.
Sandy good luck to both you and Rosie with your shots.
ANSWERS Which celebrity would you want as your other BFF and why? I can’t think of anyone. I doubt I’d have enough in common to justify BFF
Out of all your family members, who are you closest to? My sister Shirley. We can tell each other things that we wouldn’t anyone else.
What do you do when no one else is around? Usually try and get things done.

Woke up to rain, radar say rain till about 3 this afternoon. I can only hope although I do not like rainy days. I can sew on Debra’s quilt so will make myself busy. 47* now with a high of 54* today.
Made the cabbage soup yesterday and followed my meal plan. Had nothing sweet all day. Meal plan ready for today. Will be making my Kodiak chocolate cake this afternoon but it’s only 3 points and not really a sweet thing. I use regular cocoa powder and Splenda. I also have sugar free jello in frig. Need to keep protein in my diet. May not lose much but don’t need to, just not keep gaining.
Did get the grape hyacinths set out yesterday and sprinkled them with deer repellent but it’s raining again. Rob will soon need to change the mower from snow blade to mower deck.
Which celebrity would you want as your other BFF and why? Lots to pick from but going with Reba McEntire, she started out as a little rodeo gal, worked her way up to the Nashville stage. Lost most of her band members in plane crash but continued on . Her life has not been a smooth road but she always holds her head up and stays true to herself.
Out of all your family members, who are you closest to? Ok, you think I am going to pick just one, not on your life, I try to keep things equal. My closest ones are in heaven, mom, dad, baby Robbin and Steven.
What do you do when no one else is around?l Well, that is the majority of my time. Just keep busy, sewing, laundry, walking , TV time, iPad, phone texting family friends, working outside, grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning house. Life in general. Watching nature
Good report for Ruthie yesterday, Dr’s think her medication is working but X-ray showed more fluid so they are adding another medication. They want a CT scan before the heart Cath so that will be before May. Overall they were happy will the results and got to come home. They took the daughter Fraya just older than Ruthie in hopes that would make Ruthie more comfortable apparently it helped. Whatever it takes to console a 3 year old struggling for her life. Our prayers continue and thanks to all of you who have shared prayers.
Karen C you were posting while I was typing. Sad to hear Bill is having trouble with his blood checks. There should be an easier way. I think those finger sticks hurt at least mine do when they do that for a blood donation. We had been wondering why our brother Gary didn’t want to go with us to eat out anywhere. I found out the other night from brother Jack that Gary’s blood sugar has spiked really high. He uses pill to control his so Dr added another pill. Gary says he can’t afford that extra pill so is doing everything he can to bring the numbers down on his own with diet, to get off that extra pill. Jack says he is making progress but believes Gary should get more exercise as well. Gary is 86, lives alone and motivation isn’t always a top priority especially if you aren’t feeling up to par. I do understand why he doesn’t want to go out to eat with other people. His lady friend is a great help. I think she also is a mild diabetic. None of us are. Thinking of Mr. Bill

Good afternoon!

I'm going with Jerry this afternoon to his eye appointment and I'll have to drive him home since they always dilate his eyes. I'm taking a book since I'll be waiting for him about an hour.
Karen C, does Bill massage his fingers before sticking himself? Sometimes Jerry has trouble getting enough blood and that's what he does. It seems to help.
Karen E, I'm glad little Ruthie got a good report at the doctor's.
QTOD: Which celebrity would you want as your other BFF and why? Out of all your family members, who are you closest to? What do you do when no one else is around?
AOTD: 1. I really can't think of a celebrity that I would want as my BFF. Definitely someone who's stayed down to earth and hasn't let their celebrity status go to their heads. 2. I'm closest to my sister. We talk at least once a week. 3. I read or watch TV or play games online. Sometimes I talk with family and friends on the phone. I also like to do a daily devotion/prayer time.

Today I won $11 at Bunco for most wins. This is a smaller group, so that was a big win, too. Just one month from now I will be going to Anastasia Island with my family (daughters and grandkids) to celebrate my 75th birthday. I paid the final payment on the condo yesterday. QTOD: Which celebrity would you want as your other BFF and why? Someone who is humble and kind and down to earth. I picked a few: Jennifer Garner, Adele and OprahOut of all your family members, who are you closest to? This is hard as I love them all equally and feel close to all of them. I feel I am most close with my youngest daughter, Jaimie and her daughter, Mackenzie. What do you do when no one else is around? Anything I want!!! I just finished THE WOMEN by Kristin Hannah. It is about the women in the war in Vietnam. The first half was pretty good. The last 100 pages, when Frankie returns from Vietnam and her life falls apart were very hard to read and the last few pages made me cry. I would not recommend unless you really want to know about the war in Vietnam and remember that it is historical fiction.

The Women was a book I took back without reading and put it on reserve again. I wasn’t sure I could handle it. So read only a few pages.
Now you can go to dollar tree and spend a lot. One aisle is all $5 and I spent $165 there. I went to buy thank you cards and moisture eliminators and kitchen trash bags. It turns out they now sell gift cards so I bought a $50 and a $100 Texas Roadhouse . It saved me a trip to get them somewhere else. I already delivered one to next door before they go back to Germany. They leave in 10 days. Just such nice people..

Kristin Hannah’s Home Front was sad. it was about a married woman who went to the Middle East war and came home to a troubled marriage. I cannot make myself read The Great Alone by her even though I bought it and it’s on my shelf. I’ve loved other books of hers.
This afternoon I made pie dough and put it in the fridge. I used real butter. Tomorrow I’ll bake an apple pie. It’s DSIL Scott’s favorite and this will be for his birthday dinner. I haven’t made pie for years. I hope it’s still as good as I used to make. Scott has lost both his parents. His dad when he was a baby and his mom as a child. He was raised by grandparents and grandma had dementia. When he was in college he also was guardian of an uncle with ptsd. He still turned out ok. He’s now senior VP for Busey Bank and still finds time to help us out.
I’m afraid the rain will miss us again.

I am reading TOM LAKE right now, Ruth. Ann Patchett is one of my all-time favorite authors, but I have not been as into this book as with many of her others. However, it is beginning to interest me more. AOTD: Which celebrity would you want as your other BFF and why? It's hard to know what celebrities are really like, but I think I would have enjoyed being friends with Carol Burnett. She and the others on her show always seemed to be having a great time together and I have heard that she has always been generous to people new in the field. I would love to do zany things with her.
Out of all your family members, who are you closest to? Up until the time she passed, that would be my mom. She was a wonderful woman, with whom I could discuss ANYTHING. We spoke regularly. I tried to see her once a week when we lived within 1.5 hour's drive away. Now it is DD. We talk at least once a day, often more. We can fight with each other (we are on opposite ends of the political spectrum), but we can also talk about almost anything and love each other deeply. Being her matron of honor at her wedding and in the delivery room when she delivered her first child were special. I also appreciated her joining me in MA when Mort was at the end of his life. I love my son very much too, but we rarely talk.
What do you do when no one else is around? Read, watch a movie, catch up with folks on the computer, walk, dance around the house. Thanks for all the information you share with us about Passover and other Jewish traditions, Shragae! Karen, Sorry Bill has had a problem. I agree with you about the disparity between money paid to male and female athletes. Caitlin Clark is pretty amazing. I don't watch Saturday Night Live on Saturday nights, but happened to come across this SNL bit with Caitlin Clark in it. Funny! mymodernmet.com/caitlin-clark-snl-appearance/Sharon, I love Kristin Hannah. HOME FRONT was powerful, as was THE GREAT ALONE. I read it while I was in the hospital after my knee replacement and got so engrossed that I would be crying real tears and having to keep my hand over my mouth so I would not sob out loud. Also enjoyed THE NIGHTINGALE. Today I went to Costco with Tom and had my hearing aids adjusted. I love being with him no matter what we do. Later, I went out to dinner with some friends at an Asian restaurant. It was really good and fun to see everyone. Tomorrow night is a dance performance and Saturday is opera (LA RONDINE). This has been a busy week! Ciao...

QTOD: Which celebrity would you want as your other BFF and why? I think I would like Andrea Bocelli. I find him to be sincere and truly a nice person. Of course, maybe he's not, but he portrays himself to be.
Out of all your family members, who are you closest to? Before my sister, Mary, passed it was always her. Now it would be DD. Speak with her almost daily and am finding her to be a nice, caring young woman.
What do you do when no one else is around? Depends on how much time I have, etc. but could be talk on the phone, take a walk, bake, clean.
Wishing everyone a great Friday. Tired tonight. Was a busy day and my knees are throbbing. Hoping to get an appointment with an ortho here. I don't have one here and I asked my PCP for a referral to one that he would use and trust. Have a call in to him as it appears I missed a call from the office today. Hopefully I don't have to wait too long.
Shragae, thanks for the info on matzo. Very informative.
Waving to all. Night
