I've heard Cherry say she follows mostly a Mediterranean diet. I figured out that I do too. I'm not familiar with some of the diets (not the type for losing weight; the type for what it is people eat) out there. I recently came across something called the Atlantic diet. Have any of you heard of it? Here's an article I found comparing the Mediterranean diet with the Atlantic one.

Atlantic Diet Vs. Mediterranean Diet: Which Is Better For You? Here's what experts are saying about this newly trendy way of eating. By Brittany Anas Published: February 14, 2024
The Mediterranean diet tells you to fill up your plate with healthy fats, fish, nuts, fruits, and veggies. It's considered by dietitians to be one of the healthiest ways you can eat. It’s heart-healthy, can help you lose weight, and, I mean, who doesn’t want to pretend like they’re on a never-ending vacation on the Mediterranean coast?
The Mediterranean diet isn’t going anywhere... But a newcomer called the Atlantic diet, which has a few key differences, is getting buzz following a study published this month [February] in JAMA Network Open. The research suggests you don’t have to entirely rule out meat and potatoes in order to keep your waistline, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels in check.
The Atlantic diet comes from traditional eating patterns in the Northwestern Iberian Peninsula—specifically, northwestern Spain and northern Portugal, explains Kim Yawitz, R.D., a dietitian and gym owner in St. Louis... - - - - -
Some key differences between the two (Mediterranean and Atlantic) are noted. Here are some of the additional categories of information. What Foods Can You Eat on the Atlantic Diet? What Are the Pros of the Atlantic Diet? What Are the Cons of the Atlantic Diet? Tips for Starting the Atlantic Diet A few tips for tips for starting the Atlantic diet
Being that I don't eat the meat of four-legged animals, I'm not in any hurry to try out the Atlantic diet...
1. Had you heard of the Atlantic diet before? 2. Have you investigated it? 3. What did you think of it after reading the article? 4. Anything else to add? 5. What's on your mind today? 6. I can't remember if I've heard of the Atlantic diet before. If I have, it didn't catch my eye as something I'd try. I eat poultry, as a substitution for beef or pork, so the fact it allows more beef and pork isn't important to me.
The article about the Atlantic diet reminded me that (like the Mediterranean diet) adding fish and beans on a more regular basis would be a good idea. I don't eat white potatoes all that often, still...not planning to give them up completely either.
I'm planning my grocery list for next week (shopping tomorrow), good to have ideas to consider.
The weather has turned back to something more winter-like as far as temperature, but, the sun is shining...it's a pleasant view out the windows.

I, also, don't remember ever seeing the "Atlantic Diet" before.
Seems as though both of the programs include eating more fish. It is a shame that I don't like fish. I really wish that I did, as I know how good it is for us. About the only thing that I can get down is the occasional tuna sandwich & once in a great while, a salmon patty. A shrimp cocktail is ok, if it has a lot of cocktail sauce with it. I have eaten so much chicken over the years that I am surprised that I don't have feathers!
I have already put in my grocery order for the week, it will be picked up this afternoon, but I have a lot of grains, etc. already in the house.
My mind today is set on getting my DH home front he rehab center where he has been for 2 weeks. He has gained some strength there, but he is very, very weak. I will get him home & give him some rest & some TLC.

I haven't heard about the Atlantic diet either, but when I say I loosely follow the Mediterranean diet, I have unknowingly followed the Atlantic diet too. I don't rule out anything, some things just not as often. I eat potatoes on my plate and in soups and stews, sometimes substituting potatoes on my plate for sweet potatoes, I'll use grains sometimes in place of potatoes and in salads, stews and soups. I eat whatever I want but some things just not as often nor as much. I guess that I follow what used to be called on the old WW programs, the (name of person) diet. In my case The Cherry diet. WW said at the time that it wasn't a good thing for people to do, but it works for me.
I rarely eat things like salami, summer sausage or other ultra-processed foods, but I will eat them occasionally. Same with diet drinks of Coke, Pepsi, or Dr. Pepper. If someone is having one, I'll share a little bit of theirs, but never of my own doing.
Yesterday I was idlily watching a couple of cock pheasants sparring out in my yard. They'd face each other, take turns punching their heads toward each other, and finally leaping towards each other. Then they'd turn around and start all over again. Yesterday it was windy and the one had it's back toward the wind, causing it's tail feathers to blow straight up into the air. Finally he turned sideways and kept on threatening to charge the other one. Finally they both decided to call it quits and they both casually strolled off in different directions. It was an interesting show to watch. This is a thing for them, especially in the spring during mating time.
