Good Morning ☼ WORK-IT-WEDNESDAY!! I will "work it" by tracking last night's dinner, and tracking my day today. I will MOVE, not sure yet how, but I will! My focus this week is MOVING every day. Whether it's walking, stretching, or doing a project here... I will be moving! Saturday will be a struggle, as I have to drive to about 2 hours for a funeral. Anyway - moving is my motto this week! LOL
Sue: Ouch! Poor Rowan!! Broken bones happen. I was 11 when I fractured mine, bike accident. Of my kids Timothy is the only one, and his was from being hit by a pickup truck when he was a Senior in HS! I best be knockin' on wood here! Hopefully the surgery isn't too hard on him, and he's on the mend soon. YAY for hitting the gym, hope you didn't overdo it. OK, Question... How does Medicare cover "Silver Sneakers"? I've never seen that on my Medicare, or my BC/BS Supplemental. I don't have a Y nearby anyway, just curious.

Yesterday was a good day. Not too hot, but warm enough (and little to no breeze) so I could get the new power washer going. I was able to get the damned bird's mess down - and the whole driveway side of the house! Next on the list is the ramp. It's pressure treated wood, and hasn't been cleaned in several years. So I started it... now I must finish it! LOL That will probably be a day in itself! Then I will make my way around the back of the house to the patio side. It doesn't all have to be right now, but I want to keep the motivation to get it done!
No specific plans today - not sure what the weather will bring. Might be a day to keep moving inside, out of the rain?
♥hugs♥

Good morning!
Thanks for getting us going, Carole. I meant to get back last night but it ended up being a full day---not terrible, just busy. Today is "Administrative Assistant Day" so we have 5 in our building and I have been trying to get their gift together. There are two other directors who are not so motivated to take care of it. So I finished putting their plants, Starbucks cards, and cards together last night (thank to you DH for helping with the wrapping . DH is golfing...they met at 4:30 am for a 6:00 am tee off time. Wow, early! My doctors appt was okay...it was in person and I was reminded how much I like him. He had read my file, contacted by endocrinologist, and was prepared to talk about my lab results. I will get a colonoscopy and endoscopy at the same time (like our Carole) to check out my gut. But he also ordered a lot of other bloodwork to rule things out too. He was very calm and said, "I knew you would be worried when you came in here." Just a really nice man and I feel like I am getting good care. So, colonoscopy/endoscopy isn't until 6/17 (UGGH) so I guess I need to suck it up and not let it consume my worry.
Carole: Wow, you are doing great with the cleaning. I remember talking to Meg a few months after she retired and she said, "My house is REALLY clean." I think I will be the same way. Speaking of Meg, she put another offer in on a house yesterday....I really like it (ran by it yesterday early). I see though that they have an open house scheduled for this weekend and I am thinking that they might hold off on her offer hoping for the FRENZY of buyers who will outbid one another. So frustrating. It sounds like you are getting the outside spiffed up too! Nice! I told DH that I want to start using the pizza oven every Friday or Saturday once the weather is consistently warm...looking forward to it. I hope that you have another good day today!
Sue: Oh man, poor Rowan and POOR Hannah! Of course--right after Shea leaves. It will be good to hear the "why" about surgery...it may be just someone speculating? Yay for getting back to the pool! Yes, it is hard at first--but consistency is the name of the game. Oh, your outside area sounds like it will be so nice...Jason will love it and get over it just like he did with all of the renovations. I would be one to be inclined to like propane for the ease of it. We have a wood stove and the whole wood splitting, etc. gets old. I am so glad that Rose is already able to use the things that you dropped by...nice! Oh yes, my mom....well, it is what it is. I just want her to do the things she likes. She is not one to sit at home or even have company over so I think that, eventually, she will realize that she can adjust to a new place. We'll see.
Okay, gotta go and run these gifts by my office before heading to a training. Have a good day, ladies!

Hello all
Not much going on, the rain is back and the nice weather gone for a bit. Today is Audrey’s 21st birthday, we are celebrating that on Saturday, she’s officially a grown up, but still very much my baby, she will always be. I made home made chicken noodle soup last night and it hit the spot. My ankle is still really sore so I put it up and put ice on it, I think I’ll ice it in the middle of the day while sitting here at work, it might help take some of the swelling away.
Ok gotta run for now

Afternoon all....got out at 2:00pm as planned...went to Rose's for about an hour....was fun to visit with her for a bit....got home to see black top in the driveway....the base coat is not quite finished, not sure why, maybe they had to wait for the few showers to go through this morning...was hoping it would be done so the top coat would be done tomorrow but looks like it will be Friday before it's finished...I know, we have waited this long, one more day is not a big deal!! Just annoying parking across the street. We could park on the front lawn but with the new grass we really don't want to do that....it's really starting to come in nice now with the spring rains and the sun!! It's just an inconvenience, we will survive!!
My new table is "out for delivery" today....will come in 5 boxes and it says it can be put together by one person in less than an hour so hope to get that done this weekend. The solo stove arrives tomorrow and the umbrella stand on Friday....the table for around the firepit arrives by next Tuesday as well as the over I ordered for the stove/table combo....the firepit/stove fits into the table and can be moved and taken with you anywhere....with the table around it, it will be nice place to sit things for a picnic if we are not planning on a fire. I think it will all come together....
Quick update on Rowan....they did NOT have to do surgery, which I kind of expected that the someone looked at the Xray and panicked but like I mentioned....it looked just like Hannah's and they had 2 orderlies hold her down then they put these weird things on each finger and put weights on a pulley like system that pulled her arm to stretch it up to get the bones aligned while looking at it with ultrasound or something....worked great. I'm thinking they did the same thing with Rowan but they did put him under mild anesthesia, probably like when you have a colonoscopy....woke up to a text this morning saying the anesthesiologist had come out and said he's waking up and arm looks great....took no time at all. Now he sports the nice blue cast. Hannah is planning to keep him home tomorrow, they already have Friday off so it will give him a couple days to get used to doing things with his left hand....Rowan will probably do better than I did! LOL!!
Now back to yesterday to catch up....
Carole...I have to laugh when you mention swapping out clothes each season....I don't have enough clothes to bother....all my clothes are in the dresser and closet all year!! Yes, I am looking forward to May 17th.....will say when the girls were in school we had some glorious days for Gym-O-Ree and we had some really crappy ones....fingers crossed the weather for the "last" for this generation is a nice day!! The weather in the end of the 10 forecast is in the mid-70's so hope it continues that way....will be a perfect day!!
My plan for the firepit wood is the same as Sarah and Josh had....get a big tote and put it on the patio back along the wall between the bulk head and addition wall....will be right there, ready to go....I'm actually looking forward to gathering the twigs, branches, etc to get things going....
Yes, Jason will get used to the idea of the new patio stuff....at one point he said "just order it" but his tone was SO HIS MOTHER!!! He doesn't realize how he sounds when he gets all defensive and snippy....I usually try to let it just go in one ear and out the other but with the new patio/screened in porch, etc....I just want it done...I want them to be usable and decent. I want to get all things purchased and paid for while I'm still working. The only thing left to pay will be the mortgage which we would have had anyway even if we didn't do the addition. I didn't buy super expensive stuff....I bought stuff with good ratings and mid-price range....I didn't want to buy cheap that we would have to replace 3 years from now but I didn't want to break the bank either. What I really wanted for the patio is a retractable awning like our friends have....but Jason kept saying "do you really think it's necessary" so I just let it drop....but I did get a table with a nice big umbrella that covers the entire length of the table....the sun sets in the back and the shade is a must if we are going to use it for supper time meals!!
LOL Carole...I asked Hannah last night while texting about Rowan's arm how she was feeling....all she said was "don't make me run or squat"! Oh yes, I'm sure Vonnie and Joe are exhausted by the end of the day with the 4 kids....they are pretty well behaved and have a good routine so that helps but just the running, planning, prepping for extra kids is an adventure....they have been empty nesters for 10 years now!!
Carole....The only "When Calls the Heart" episodes I've seen are the Christmas ones....I think there have been 3 of them since we got Hallmark channel. I have like them and often planned to binge the show from the beginning....I know others have enjoyed it and I know many of the characters already because of the Christmas movies so I will be able to following along when I start since I already know the characters. Sometimes I like to rewatch shows and movies I have already seen because I too see thing that I missed the first time around!!
OMG Carole...Jason said the same thing about his cough...he kept saying "it's better"....NOPE!! He would hack and cough and drive me nuts! Thankfully I can finally say his IS better now!! But it's been almost 3 weeks!! Yes, sometimes it is nice to be a "garden widow"....at least I know I have several hours of peace and quiet, whether he is in our yard or at the lot....he's not in the house making me crazy! Jason and I were talking about the cost of flowers, etc...I told him that for as many new flower beds he wants we need to think about several perennial plants that are a "one and done" and then accent with a bit of color from annuals....12 packs for annuals around here are going for $12+ per flat.....I remember when we were first married and the same flats were $2.....times have changed.....Hannah said because of the number of flats she bought she got them for $11 for 12 plants and even got a couple "baker's dozen" packs!!
I see my retirement similar to yours for the first year at least.....so many rooms have taken a beating over the last couple years with the addition and storing thing in odd places but once retired, Jason will get the painting done, then some of the stuff will come up and get displayed so those other rooms that have been "storage" for things will then get their makeover. The two bedrooms that Sarah and the boys occupy will get done when they move out!! It will get done...eventually!!

Carole....thanks for starting us off this morning....I was getting ready to start us off quick then remembered I needed to head across the street and it would be two trips with the stuff I had for Rose, plus my lunchbox, purse, etc so I had to run.... No Carole, I didn't overdo it at the pool...I learned my lesson the last time I missed a few days....I took it easy and while I can "feel it" it's not too bad!! Love that you are focusing on "moving" this week...yes, travel days are tough.... Yes, some Medicare plans cover "Silver Sneakers" but not sure if all cover it! I know United Healthcare does....it's not covered under Part B, that's just your doctor visits but most supplemental plans do.....that is one thing I will make sure of when I plan for me!! Silver Sneakers also covers other gyms/fitness places.....I "googled" it and this is what I found out.....Does Medicare automatically include silver sneakers?
Original Medicare (Parts A and B) does not cover gym memberships or fitness programs. Since SilverSneakers falls under this category, original Medicare doesn't cover it. However, gym memberships and fitness programs, including SilverSneakers, are often covered as an additional benefit in Medicare Part C plans. I already told Simon that I want that included in whatever supplemental plan we got... LOL Carole, I know what you mean about the power washing and "keeping the momentum going"....some projects you just have to keep powering through until it's done!
Gabrielle....well, this is the "last time" you have to "carry" the other directors with the Administrative Assistant gifts....next year it's on someone else!! Hopefully your replacement will not take on the task by herself like you and it will fall on someone else. YAY Ed for lending a hand with the wrapping. WOW, that is a VERY early tee time....is it even light at 6:00am?? It's not that light here at that hour....it's getting there but closer to 6:30am here!! Glad your appointment went fairly well yesterday and you feel "in good hands" with the doctor!! Yes, it's hard to wait for the colonoscopy/endoscopy but sounds like he was reassuring and knew what your concerns/questions would be when you arrives....that in and of itself is reassuring!!
Really a bummer that the house Meg put in a offer for is having an open house...yes, you are probably right that they will hold off on her offer until they see if they get any crazy high offers. Fingers crossed it is not well attended and she gets the house!!
Yes, as you know now Gabrielle....Rowan did NOT need surgery and think it was just someone in the ER speculating and panicking....when I saw it, I thought "mine and Hannah's looked like that" and thanks to great ortho guys....no surgery for us! I have my pool bag ready to go tomorrow!!
Jenny....Happy 21st Birthday to Audrey!! Time flies! Yes, she will always be your "baby"....heck, my "baby" is 38!! I do love homemade soups!! Not exactly soup weather now but sometimes I even make it in the heat of the summer because I'm "hungry for it"! Yes, might be a good idea to ice your ankle during the day.....sitting at a desk all day with your foot in a "dependent" position will aggravate the swelling....ice and elevating a couple times during the day might do the trick!!
Need some supper....getting hungry!
Waves Christine, Karen, Jo and anyone else I missed. Sweet dreams, see you all tomorrow!
