People over 60 have a different metabolism than those who are younger, and weight loss gets harder as one ages. This thread is for us.
Join us! Share your ideas, your successes, your frustrations. Offer support. Get advice from folks who are on a similar journey.
Our challenge is to stay on plan, exercise and keep trying to lose weight while improving our overall health -- and maintaining a positive attitude!
Think about where you were and how you felt when you made the initial decision to join The Senior WW Challenge. Close your eyes and remember when you said to yourself βEnough is enough and Iβm getting in shape!β On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are you? You really need to be an eight or higher! Good morning. Dawn is just breaking, but it is expected to be a beautiful day. I cooked my first full meal at home last night and it was good Cassoulet for Today - had three meats and lots of cannellini beans. Carol brought a green salad and I had a spumoni cake with fat free cool whip for desert along wioth decaf. Publix gave mwe the cake for my birthday and I just picked it up this week. Very filling and althought there was three meats, mostly chicken white meal, some smoked turkey sausage and a little crumbled bacon in the topping. It was so serve six, so I put it in a casserol dish for us, a little smalled one for my priest which I will give to him Sunday evening when I go to mass, and a one serving one for a neighbor who had a knee replacement and is also a friend from church. Serving was less than 400 calories, 29 carbs, 4 sugars, 8 fibers and 33 protein. Will probably make it again.
Have to run, attending a group trip to Alabama with Womens Group from church. Bus leaves in an hour, should be there at least 15 minutes early. Its only 10 minutes to less from here to meet the bus and all I have to do is dress. I'm fast!

Geri have a wonderful retreat.
Good morning. Iβm reading the news of those awful tornados in Nebraska and Iowa. DS Mark and family live in West Des Moines and the entire family was in the basement last night. A tornado went over but didnβt touch down.
This morning Don is going to DD Lauraβs to help her wallpaper. Iβll have the day to myself. Since I wonβt have the car Iβll get some things done here.

Good Morning Friends!
it is a beautiful morning in Florida. Sunny and 65 degrees. This morning is our semi-annual community garage sale. We don't generally participate. A few of the neighboring communities also have their garage sale today, which makes it great for the bargain hunters.
Geri, Enjoy your trip to Alabama.
Prayers to those that suffered from the tornados in Iowa and Nebraska.

Strands #55 βCall me?β π΅π΅π΅π΅ π‘π΅π΅
Good morning, friends.
For some reason I could not get on here yesterday. It had been a busy but good day.
We delivered books to second graders at another school. I am in love with that age group! The looks of joy, the excitement, the wonderment. When I taught elementary school, I taught third grade for a couple of years and enjoyed them too. I am learning how to help hesitant children find something they like. One good thing about social media is that the schools post photos of events on their websites for all to see. This is a very rewarding activity. One more school to go.
Then I went to Tom's and helped him eliminate some of the things from his iPad that were taking up too much storage. He made us a salad and heated up a frozen pizza for lunch. The pizza had pineapple and ham. I never thought I would like that combination but it was pretty good. NOT very weight-watchers friendly, though. Back to basics for a few days.
Geri, your posts indicate how happy you are with your new home. So happy for you! Enjoy your trip.
DD invited me to church and breakfast after tomorrow. Sounds lovely, but I have a ton to do. Will see.
I spoke with one of my cousins last night about the July family reunion. We can't stop reminiscing. It will be fun. I don't think I ever tasted a Philly Cheese Steak, but Tom is set on doing it and I will try. I rarely eat beef now, but every once in a while is OK.
In a while I am going to see SPIRITED AWAY, an animΓ© film by Studio Ghibli, which has won two academy awards for its animated films. SPIRITED AWAY is one and the second is THE BOY AND THE HERON. I will see at least one other in the Ghibli Film Fest playing in our local theaters. An ex-colleague and I are leading a discussion on SPIRITED AWAY in my film class in a couple of weeks. I have streamed it on my TV and look forward to seeing it on the big screen.
Great news about your MRI, Jane! That must be a relief.
I have ordered some things from Etsy and Amazon for a murder mystery theater at our clubhouse. It takes place during the 1920s. Also ordered a cute black and white hat for a Kentucky Derby party. I love to dress up.
Sharon, I have read your reports about how much more you have been able to do since your surgery. So glad!
Must straighten up here a bit. A big bit...

Really buzzing today. Have taken Rob to town to pick up his work truck that he had serviced yesterday. Also took old broken electronics to Musco for free disposal. To Walmart and got 10 bags of mulch, grass seed and lawn fertilizer. Small bags. He has been rolling the yard so I sewed a bit of fertilizer and grass seed. Put my new weed eater together. When battery is charged I can do some weed eating. Rob is to take off snow blade and put mower deck on today as well so I can mow. He is going to ride his motorcycle to Missouri now and will be back as itβs to storm again this afternoon. So he needs to go now. Rain again tomorrow. We got 7 tenths yesterday morning and nothing last night here. Very thankful for that but a lot of damage across western through center of state. Some of us were storm chasing by storm radar and TV and text messaging during those storm. Channel 13 was on continuously from after 6 until about 10:30 last night. Was never close to my county.
Pretty humid outside now to reach 77* this afternoon just ripe for more storms. Other than what I have already said not much happening today. Hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning.
It's been a long week for us. DH started on immunotherapy treatment for advanced prostate cancer. The procedure takes three weeks. He did well though the first week.
We had his 80th birthday celebration party in Phoenix and he did enjoy that. Our son flew in from Alabama. We hadn't seen him in a couple of years.
Sharon, the tornado looks so scary. Good your family are ok.
Geri, you are always busy and helping others.
We have another Dr appt in Phoenix on Monday. I am tired of driving back and forth.
Carolyn

I have been to Publix and had a nice young man in the pharmacy who was very helpful. I have never seen him before. I picked up my 30 pills to take as needed and it was 76 cents. Also had him look at the cane tips and my cane and he agreed they are too big. He told me I am needing three shots . Another covid, hepatitis and tetanus so I got the tetanus one. I asked him if he could fill out the paperwork and no one was waiting so he did.
So glad Karen and Sharonβs family were safe from the tornadoes.
I read that whole book yesterday. It was a nice story with no cuss words or sex and I cared about the characters. Todayβs book is The Fury by Alex Michaelides. Not sure I like it.
My next door neighbors leave for their home in Germany tomorrow. They will be back in November.

Greetings:
I'm at the poetry workshop and it's been a good one. the presenter who was selected is the one I recommended and she did such a great job. I'm happy about that for two reasons. One that she presented valuable material and two that she was such a good presenter. I always hate to recommend someone and then have them fall flat in their presentation.
As for the QOTD...
1. Is there something about which you have changed your opinion over the years? What was it and anything you can share about how that happened.
2. In your younger days, what was a favorite dance you liked to do?
3. What was the last vegetable you ate?
AOTD.
1. I used to be rather concerned about matching shoes, purse and making sure everything came together as an outfit. Not anymore.
2. I liked to waltz and was trying to learn the electric slide, I think it's called. When I went to zumba after we moved here, the teacher used that dance in the class and I would never turn the right way. It was hilarious.
3. There was a standard set up of tomato slice, lettuce leaf and red onion slice on my sandwich at lunch, so I guess that's it.

Sharon, sounds like a good neuropathy cream. Probably menthol and camphor in it. They are two great additions and there's another, but it's less effective. There is a new drug in testing for hereditary neuropathy which we are really hoping delivers. It's been developed by a small pharmaceutical company.
Karen E, I'm serious! Especially since your brother is going home. Suggest he rest/sleep be as much as possible on his left side and stand as tall as possible. Even just straightening up.
Geri, what color is your kitchen and what's your address?
Jane, you'd mentioned looking for some new books to read. I know you read all the biggies, but here are a few others to consider. All have series books so they aren't just one. Jacqueline Winspear, I think 18 or so books in the series. Her protag is Maisie Dobbs and the books start before WWI in England. The last one I read was Pearl Harbor Day, but I think there is one or more others to finish the series. Maisie turns out to be a competent sleuth
J.A. Jance has written three series. Her first is about a character J.P. Beaumont, detective on the Seattle police force. She's written 20 or more Beaumont books. Then she wrote about a female sheriff in southern Arizona and a TV journalist also in Arizona. The latter is based upon a true story. All of those hve multiple books. I just finished a Joanna Brady book. She's the sheriff.
Another light series is by Rhys Bowen. It's a series set in England. the protag is a young woman. The series starts with her in her early 20's and she's in line to the throne. 34th, I think. They are light and entertaining books.
Laura Childs has a series about tea shop set in Charleston, South Carolina. There are at least 25 books in the series. she is also an amateur sleuth.
And one of my favorites is Julia Spencer-Fleming who writes about two characters. One a sheriff and one who is always in the way. Probably 12 or more books. Not so sure. But all of these are great books.
