This week I tracked every day and kept up with my online support groups. I am grateful my husband and I are still healthy.

Our yard is really green. All the bushes and trees have leaves and the apple trees have blossomed.

My lilacs are in full bloom now - I cut some flowers for a vase on my kitchen table - they look and smell beautiful! The grass is the greenest it'll probably be for the season.
I'm giving myself credit today for getting back to my regular routine after having a houseful of family staying with me for a week. I participated in the eating frenzy all week and I'm feeling the effects of too much food and the wrong kinds of food. Also I didn't do any formal exercise though I was generally very active. This morning I'll be going out to walk.

My goals this week are to keep tracking, weighing and measuring, keep trigger food out of the house, make sure I have the foods I need in the house, and keep up with my online support groups (they are very important to me.) For my me-time I will spend time on the computer and read. Bought the second book in a murder mystery series I started recently.

My plan is to eat healthfully, per hunger/satiation/dealing with cravings. I'll track as much as I'm able to, and exercise as much as I'm able to.

Besides true hunger what are your reasons for eating?

Let's see, there is my fear of getting hungry later, it's time to eat, I see something that triggers me, I feel like I'm in a situation I should eat, I give in when someone pushes food on me, and I'm feeling out-of-sorts.

I eat when I'm fatigued, when I'm stressed, when I'm celebrating, when I have the opportunity to eat something that I really like but isn't often available, when I'm eating a really special meal in a restaurant, when I'm afraid that if I don't eat more of it then there won't be any left and I'll miss out - there are probably more reasons that I can't think of right now.

Thursday, 05/02 What was the food, eating, cooking, meals, going out to eat, getting take-out, and snacks like in your family while you were growing up?

I grew up in the 1950's and 1960's, so the whole food and eating scene was very different from today. My mom made meat and potato dinners and was not an adventuresome cook. I ate three meals a day, maybe had a couple of cookies when I came home from school but don't remember ever eating after dinner. We hardly ever went out to eat and the only take-out we got was Chinese food. Fast food was just starting and as a family we never had it.

Judy, I can say almost the same thing you said, word for word, about myself. Except that in time, my mother became more adventurous about trying new things. Also there was no soda or snack foods in my house.

susan092907, We didn't have soda growing up. One of the first things my sister did when older, living there, and had her own money was buy soda to have. We didn't have chips around the house, but I had a small bag of Fritos in my lunch every day with some cookies along with my sandwich. All I remember is having cookies to snack on and if there had been a holiday a box of See's candy.
