I can’t believe we’re in May already. Other than some light rain yesterday, the weather here has been absolutely beautiful.
Lori, the protein bowl sounded delicious! I made a “salad” with quinoa, shredded cabbage and carrots, red bell pepper, and a homemade peanut dressing the other day. It was so, so good. I’ll definitely be making it again. I love seeing your weight gradually go down. Congrats on 140 average for the month of April! Consistency makes all the difference.
Meg, have a wonderful trip!
Nancy, oh no on the nosebleeds. Hopefully that’s the last of them.
Kathy, I’m so pleased that you canceled your travel! Zoom is a wonderful thing, isn’t it? I had to take Nick to the specialist at the main Cleveland Clinic campus on Monday. Finding and then navigating the correct parking garage was a nightmare. His next appointment will be with the nurse practitioner via Zoom. Thank goodness. What a difference a good night’s sleep makes. Your own bed and peace of mind….

C134D8, 1200 calories. Yesterday was strange. I had a slice of pizza and a bakery cookie, every morsel tracked. In the house I found myself having some dried apricots and some walnuts - all weighed and tracked. These are the sort of whole foods I can have instead of sugary treats which I no longer have in the house. I also had a jello pudding with a tsp cacoa nibs on top. I like the crunch. Today after line dancing I had a hour to kill before mahjongg. I used the time for lunch that I brought with me (pb&j on whole grain bread and an apple) and then 30 minutes in the gym. I'll be playing mahjong most wednesdays in the summer, so this is how I'll manage. No nose bleed today which was a relief.
Jan - So glad you got to enjoy the beautiful weather.

What a beautiful May 1st! The weather is perfect. Mom and I are sitting on the front porch enjoying every minute…. After work today, there was a group of us learning how to play pickleball. I really enjoyed it but it was a lot of twisting and turning. I’m kinda feeling it in my back now….I’m really hoping I’m able to play with the girls from work. It was great exercise, something different and a lot of fun!
Jan, can you pass along the peanut dressing recipe, that sounds yummy!! And yes! Being consistent and nothing off limits has worked really well!! Since last May, when Mom was in the hospital, I gained 25 lbs and lost 20lbs so far…. And most important, my clothes are fitting!
Nancy, Yay on No nosebleeds!! Nice that you fit yesterday within your calorie budget and you now have a plan for Wednesday’s…

Lori - I absolutely loved Pickle Ball but every time I played, I got a bad pain in my hip which lasted for three days. I decided not to look for trouble and stopped playing. I hope you don't have a similar issue and can enjoy playing. Just don't back up to get the balls. That's when all the falls happen. Pickle Ball is very popular in my community. It's actually overtaken tennis.
Kathy - Today was my first immoderate day. Too many calories and I found a Think bar that I forgot to discard. Certainly not a whole food. Hopefully right back on the beam tomorrow. Did you do the 42 hour fast from Monday to Tuesday?
