Happy Day All!
Thanks for being there yesterday when I needed to vent! DH is doing fine and one finger was still leaking a bit last night, but nothing serious. I went to Walgreens and stocked up on Stop Bleed and a few different bandages, and that all helped. I had to laugh at Lin's suggestion that I sell the bike and/or get the kids to help me convince him to do it! Picturing that effort was just too funny, Lin! Honestly, he doesn't ride much any more and lately has actually been admitting that he can't do a lot of what he used to. However, that doesn't mean he's going to part with his "stuff." I'm hoping this fall will have gotten his attention. He really does a LOT for his age and is in great condition compared to most 85 year old men (or women).
Today is cleaning lady day so I have to get busy and pick up so she can find the tops of the tables. Hope everyone has a good day and thanks again for yesterday's support! Cheers!

Good morning. Penny, glad to hear that the bleeding stopped. Also good that he's admitted he can't do it all anymore. I know we all are willing to listen when someone needs to vent. I've done it plenty of times.
Raining hard here this morning. Couldn't convince Ozzie to go out and not going for coffee either. Hope it stops before I have to go to my doc appt this afternoon.

Penny you are too funny! You make me remember my mother who used to clean up for the maid!
This is hard to consider as we get older that we maybe shouldn't be doing some of your things that we've been so used to doing. I'm used to getting up on ladders to change ceiling light bulbs. In my kitchen I actually have fluorescent bulbs that are very difficult to access but I've changed them for years.
My son recently has been saying I need to stop doing that because even though my bones are supposed to be in pretty good shape the last thing I need to do is fall and into myself. I need to remember too that I've had spinal fusion surgery and both the knee and shoulder replacement so I'm not as invulnerable as I might like to think!
I hope he feels better soon.

Good morning,
Penny so glad to hear DH is doing much better.
Today is a big day for my boys. Tonight the boys are being confirmed in their faith. They have prepared and waited all year for this day. After the confirmation the family and sponsors are going out to dinner to celebrate.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Penny, glad DH is doing better.
Fallilng is scary to me. I've just heard of too many people our ages falling. I remember when Betty fell on the ice in her driveway and Dave was watching TV and couldn't hear her.
Emily, what a special day for the boys and family.
Meeting friends for lunch at the local Irish pub. They all want a burger. I haven't had beef in a long time. I am at the point of clucking.
You all enjoy the day.

Good morning everyone
Took the Boniva 20 minutes ago. Need to stay standing for 60 minutes. Glad itās only once a month.
Today hubby volunteers. I plan on going shopping.
Tomorrow DD#2 will be at our house at 8:30 am. We will then take her to meet a friend about 30 minutes away so they can drive to Las Vegas. She is bringing her stuff out of the storage area and putting into a local place near our house. She will spend the night Sunday at our house night and fly out Monday morning to Georgia for her next assignment.
We enjoyed having lunch we friends yesterday.
No quake aftershocks have been felt. Yay. Hate those things. Always try and be prepared.
Penny- I think itās great hubby can do so much but hopefully will slow down a little. My hubby at age 74 has slowed down. He still exercises and does his daily walks but doesnāt do as much gardening. He still does mow the lawn once a week.
Emily- great day for you. Congrats to the boys.

Morning All!
Penny glad to hear DH is on the mend and nothing serious came from the fallā¦.. Hope your blood pressure is back to normal. At 85, even moving a motorcycle is an amazing feat, You are both blessed that he has the strength and health to do the things that he lovesā¦
Emily, congratulate the boys from us all tonight. The amount of study that goes into that rite of passage is not as extensive as say a Bar mitzvah (Iām thinking learning and speaking Hebrew), but the kids do have to put a lot of effort into learning all the important tenets of their faith. I havenāt been to one in years. Do the bishops still come for the ceremonies? It was always a really big deal in our parish.
Mar, the shampoo I bought is āJust Nutritiveā and so far I like the results. Itās softened my hair and is starting to remove the yellowish quality and dullness it had. So far so good. It is expensive in comparison to other shampoos, but I will reserve judgment until Iāve used it a while. You said you use the conditioner too? Do you feel it necessary ā Iām cringing at spending the money. Although with the amount of money I spent swapping out and trying different shampoos, Iām probably spending just as muchā¦ā¦
Lin ā I know the surgery is getting close. What day again? Deep breaths ā you are prepared and are going to do great.
Was up early ā Lily had an appointment with the groomer to get her summer cut. She was a bit grumpy- the weather was not optimal- but she livened up pretty fast when she saw the groomer. It always seems so quiet after she leaves.
Its going to be a warm one here, today ā dull and gloomy with highs in the 80s. Tree pollen isnāt finished quiet yet, but with the a/c on, asthma is definitely getting better. Helps the energy level tooā¦..
Wishing all a very pleasant dayā¦..
Dayle

What you can and can't do as we age is different for everyone. . I am 85 and still do a lot of "stuff" and do not feel "old" and the only thing my kids have insisted I not do is ladders and I don't want to anyway. Feels weird when I did climb one. So stopped except for the 2 step one with tall handle at top. Called a penquin ladder as they have large feet for stability. Only difference is I do know when to ask for help. I could move that motorcycle. * yes we used to have one" But don't mow or trim grass anymore cause I don't want to. Do the basement stairs differently but do them all day long for one thing or another.
I can still carry the large water bottle pack and used to do that for my 85 year old friend and neighbor and she was always calling me to open jars and lids. no strength in her hands. I turned on and off her out door water hoses in summer also . Painted our porches and I still do mine. ( only stopped doing her's because she started to expect me to do it every year) Carry all my Amazon boxes in house even the bird seed one from Chewy. I only get help for the things that I never did do, like plumbing, electrical, and "fixing" things that my DH used to do. Will be spreading the white stones around house and carrying the big pots of flowers I get for that area.
Off to get color for hair, pick up prescriptions at pharmacy drive through , and put gas in car. Beautiful day and in 80's already. I am loving this and anxious to go get those white stones I need. My Son in law will get them out of the truck for me. He worries!!!

Penny, wow 85. He sure does a lot for his age. I feel decrepit at almost 78 at times with the knee.
Connie, I am a lot like you, not ready to stop doing stuff, but acquiring planned cautions. I do not have kids to help us and DH cannot do things. Emily, congratulations to the boys,
Mar, glad no aftershocks. Iam going to reduce the hair soon before surgery. That color does nothing me but make me look paler Back when people did colors types, I was a winter, need jewel tones, bright colors , nothing pale in clothes. Hair included! I look good with blue hairā¦wig for orange and blue day at school.
Geri, have a good time.
surgery is 5/15 and time unknown until night before but probably mid morning. i hope not earlier as I have to change bedding and shower with the weird soap again before I leave .that will be day four if that in a row! Only that morning I have to leave it on and just towel off. Yuck. I am expected three hours early!
I was thinking today of precognition. There is a strain of Highland second sight that runs in some of the women in my ā¦I first saw that term in a bookshop in Edinburgh. Sometimes I know things. For ex When we moved here, we had not heard from any possible jobs in Arizona, and it was last day of exams , and DH had given up, but I āknewā it would happen. That night we got the calls. I met him in summer at university orientation and as we sat having a Coke in the union, I suddenly realized I would marry him. Three years later I did. I knew when we walked into the model for this house we would but it, but it was too expensive, ā¦I cannot make it happen, sometimes it just is or there is an absence of warning, just feeling things will be ok, like his cancer surgery. I have that sense about this surgery. It helps.
this is good because DH calls me the queen of āwhat if.ā have been overly anxious since childhood. Half the time it's useful because I am ahead of things or have a plan.
guess we are going out to dinner at a German place fairly far from here we have not been to in years. I am trying to clear out enough space in the freezer for the water bottles for the ice machine, but DH deserves to eat out before getting stuck at home for weeks. It will be nice in spite of the boring long drive.

Headspace so far is pretty good. Last night I did the before sleep relaxation. Amazing how fast I fell asleep and I do not think I moved all night. They have a free trial period. Would be interesting if any of you try it.
i just now did the morning recommended routine. The site is unbelievable at what is available.
Lin- Headspace might help with pre surgery anxiety.
Dayle- I like the conditioner but if put on after washing it takes forever to rince out. So I do one shampoo and rinse, put on conditioner, then put on second shampoo. It all rinses out much better. My scalp tends to get itchy and this helps with that. I wash my hair every 4 days during the winter and every 3 days in the summer.
I didnāt use the conditioner in the beginning. I added it about 3 months later. If you are doing ok with out it then just stick with the shampoo. My hair is a very pretty natural white. No dingy yellow tones.

Wellā¦..the whole project has gone sideways.
The painter emailed the contract for us to sign. In that contract states he has the option of using sub contractors. He told me at first appointment he only uses his own employees. I replied to the email telling him no subs and addressed 2 other issues. He responded with a new contract that addressed the 2 smaller issues and ignored our request for usage of only his employees. We might be canceling the paint job. We are not contacting him and will wait for him to contact us on why we have not signed contract. Then we will tell him we changed our mind because of the possible usage of subs. Hopefully he will put in writing that he will not use subs.
The screen door guy will be installing 2 molding strips inside the door casing to have the new door installed correctly. The painter wants all sides of the wood primed before installing. I texted the screen door guy yesterday late afternoon asking if he could prime it before installing. Wellā¦.he has not responded. Hard to believe he might forfeit a $800.00 project over primer. We are not contacting him anymore. If he wants the job he needs to contact us.
