People over 60 have a different metabolism than those who are younger, and weight loss gets harder as one ages. This thread is for us.
Join us! Share your ideas, your successes, your frustrations. Offer support. Get advice from folks who are on a similar journey.
Our challenge is to stay on plan, exercise and keep trying to lose weight while improving our overall health -- and maintaining a positive attitude!
Think about where you were and how you felt when you made the initial decision to join The Senior WW Challenge. Close your eyes and remember when you said to yourself “Enough is enough and I’m getting in shape!” On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are you? You really need to be an eight or higher! If not, you should probably reevaluate your thoughts and feelings about regaining great health in your life.

Happy Cinco de Mayo, all! Tom and I went to a late lunch at Moe's Southwest Grill for a Mexicanish meal yesterday. Not very WW-friendly but very tasty.
I lost my keys!!! I remember having them in the house. Then I rushed to get to a concert. I was going to pick Tom up but no keys. I cannot find a duplicate for my car, and am a bit panicked. I will call the lost and found office first thing Monday. They would not be of use to anyone but me so I hope they have been turned in. They could also be in the house. I will continue to look.
Tom and I are going to an early dinner at DD's today. First time seeing the grands since they got home from college. Really looking forward to that.
I stayed up late watching BEING MARY TYLER MOORE. I loved her TV shows. She did not have an easy life, but found great happiness in her last marriage.
QOTD: 1. What is something unusual that you've owned, and what was the story behind it?
2. Back to the topic of mothers. I always wanted to have children, but once I did I sometimes wondered about whether I was being a good mom. There were times, though, when I knew I had done something just right. Think of a point in time when you felt really proud of what you did as a mother with your child/children?
3. What is one thing you will never do again?
BBL to catch up.

Church this morning and will try going for a short walk with Rosie. It’s going to be much cooler today so she should enjoy it as she does not like warmer weather at all. She loves to find a sunny spot on the porch to lay in but since the porch gets more shady as the day goes on she will then take up her guard position on her chair and do her usual low growl and very quiet woof unless something really sets her off and then you will hear her very ferocious bark that really cracks us up. In fact the other day a lady was walking her Yorkie and it started barking at nothing and Rosie decided to bark back so we had a barking contest going on which she finally got bored with and turned her attention to other things!

Vicki we love foil dinners. For us it’s a carry over from our camping days. They are easy to make in the oven too.
Gail I hope your keys turn up. I regularly panic at losing mine and then end up finding them in my purse. Currently I’m missing my purple hooded sweatshirt. Don’t you wish all things could have an electronic finder on them?
Geri wow what a gorgeous African violet.
Heal quickly wished for Mike and Joan’s DH.
Bbl to answer those interesting questions.

Good Morning Friends!
Mike generally doesn't sell real estate anymore but he has this client he has been working with who has been trying to find a house by the beach for weekend enjoyment. He isn't wanting something huge and he wants to spend about $1 million on it. He has been looking for about 6 years and has come close to finding something only to find out at the inspection that something was direly wrong. Well, today we are showing him 3 or 4 places on the bay that he found on his own. It will be a fun day out.
Gail, Glad you enjoyed your lunch at Moe's Southwest Grill. The 3 closest to us closed quite a while ago. Too much competition, I think. I always liked their food. I hope your keys turn up. Funny story... once when I was working at the law firm my keys came up missing while I was at work. Now we know I had them when I got to work because I drove. My wasband brought me my spare set after work. Everyone helped look for my keys, looking through trash, etc. They couldn't have just walked away....could they? Funny thing...two weeks later my keys turned up on my desk. Here is what I think happened. One of the owners picked them up by accident and didn't want to fess up. He was the law director, so had keys for City Hall, keys for the office, keys for his vacation home and probably more keys. He was probably too embarrassed to say anything.

Ruth enjoy that outing. It sounds fun.
I want to mention I’ve discovered the app ChatGPT. It’s a product of OpenAI and is free. It offers so much information. For instance, I typed Mediterranean diet breakfast ideas and got some good suggestions.
QOTD: 1. What is something unusual that you've owned, and what was the story behind it? When our children were small we owned a Burger King booth. Our friend was a manager and gave it to us after a remodel. We put it in an enclosed breezeway and the DK used to for coloring, art and sometimes lunch.
2. Back to the topic of mothers. I always wanted to have children, but once I did I sometimes wondered about whether I was being a good mom. There were times, though, when I knew I had done something just right. Think of a point in time when you felt really proud of what you did as a mother with your child/children? With no preschool or even kindergarten available, my DK could read a little bit before first grade. And count, not just recite numbers. I remember the day it clicked with Mark and he went around the house counting things
3. What is one thing you will never do again? Sadly we won’t own another camper or RV. What wonderful experiences we’ve had.

Good morning. Busy day ahead. Sewing a slip cover for a large dog bed for Shawn. Italian bread for her is rising at this time. Taking the dogs to Carol's for a few hours as I will be gone for several this afternoon/evening. Trip to Sams with Jeanne, on to Nashville to see JJ's choir concert. Afterwards dinner to celebrate mother's day and birthdays.
So glad to be back to sewing!

I am hoping the snake I saw at midnight is gone. I took Kelcy out and was watching for toads so keeping my eyes on him as I walked down the driveway and when we reached the street we walked up the other side of the driveway and he headed toward the middle. That is. When I saw the snake and was pulling him away and heading in my garage. It was brown so not one of the black ones I have seen before. I put the garage door down and hoped the snake hadn’t moved. This morning I went out the front door to look and didn’t see the snake. However I am still freaked out. I had trouble going to sleep and can’t not think about how close I was when I walked down my driveway with my eyes on Kelcy and probably walked less than a foot past that snake. It was skinny and about two feet long.

Good morning everyone. I thought I had posted yesterday afternoon but I do not see my post. Bill and I are going up to Lake George NY to The Lodges at Cresthaven (a resort right on the southern end of the lake. We were supposed to check in after 4 p.m. today but with rains predicted along our entire driving route today we have opted to check in tomorrow and lose a day of our vacation. It's not worth driving in 5+ hours of rain to just spend the night there. We can check in when we get there tomorrow and still have most of our vacation time. I'll check back in the end of the week.

A calmer day here today. Sun is shining but not the warmest yet. Lots of Blue jay's in the yard. I also saw a Grosbeak yesterday at feeders. I got the bird house up so to speak. Probably not the best mounting in the world but if nothing moves in immediately I can try again. My body was aching and I was also cold. Had my winter coat on. As my right shoulder doesn’t work to full extension as it should most things don’t work as they should. Have to use left arm/hand and not always pretty as I am right handed.
I went out in the afternoon to work in yard. Mixed up my weed spray, started the golf cart and drove to long flower bed to spray grass/weeds. Fine that worked great. When I got back on golf cart to move it would not start. Texted Rob. Went to other building got battery charger and very long extension cord. Got that all set up and connected. Went and got weed eater and lawnmower, weed eated a few places and mowed one tiny spot as I thought yard was to wet. Sprinkled Deer repellent in places. By this time my leg was letting me know it had had enough. Disconnected the battery charger and wound up the extension cord, golf cart still wouldn’t start so gathered up everything on to take to building in case it had to set out all night. Just got all that done when Rob came. It wouldn’t start for him either. I didn’t think it was the battery but the starter. He checked things out, banged on a couple things. Still no start. Finally he switched it to reverse and it started so I told him to back it down to the building. Won’t be doing those things today, if he is not feeling well he needs today to rest as it’s back to work tomorrow. I will sew on Debra’s quilt which I started last evening. No rain today I guess but maybe tomorrow.
My new little Purple Leaf Tree I set out is showing new leaves. Didn’t get the other one set out yesterday, still trying to decide where to put it.
I didn’t have a restful night as leg/hip hurt all night. Didn’t want to take a full pain pill so put a patch on about 2:30, still really hurting at 5am so got up and did a few stretches then got a couple hours of sleep. Not going to stress it today.
Everyone have a beautiful Sunday, KC you and Bill enjoy your week once you arrive there. Healthy vibes for Mike, Joan’s husband, Karen C’s Bill and Carolyn’s family. Anyone else in need. Pat how are things with you.
1. What is something unusual that you've owned, and what was the story behind it? Can’t think of anything really unusual that we owned. Thinking about it, we had Steven’s mom and dad’s Old Model A Ford. The car that they ran off in to Missouri to secretly get married. I drove it a few times. Needed to be restored but Steven was never interested and we probably didn’t have the money. He finally took it back to his grandparents old barn and it stayed there for years. I tried to get him to give it to Rob, but he didn’t. Years later sold it to someone else. I was sad to see it go.
2. Back to the topic of mothers. I always wanted to have children, but once I did I sometimes wondered about whether I was being a good mom. There were times, though, when I knew I had done something just right. Think of a point in time when you felt really proud of what you did as a mother with your child/children? I wasn’t really into having children, Steven thought he wanted four. I know at times my children thought I was a horrible mother. They were ornery kids and if I told them I was going to punish them in a certain way they just laughed at me and did it anyway. Think they were surprised when I did as I had said. Like let the air out of all four of Rob’s car tires. But he had been told. I think they turned out to be really great adults. No one is perfect but today I can depend on both of them.
3. What is one thing you will never do again? Probably never fly in an airplane again. I do not enjoy flying at all.

Still no keys!!! I can walk some, but not to the store or even the lost & found if they found them. Tom will drive when we go to DD's for dinner. I have to ask him to take me to get fixings for a salad and some fruit.
Sandy, sometimes little dogs think they are Great Danes! Mort and I would crack up when our little Maltese barked at horses. Your Rosie is so sweet.
My purse was the first place I looked, Sharon. I emptied it out completely. It was in there before I finished getting dressed for the concert. Still continuing to look in weird places as I rushed to go out Friday night. Rushing is not good for me. I fall or misplace something.
Ruth, laughing at your keys story. I am often the person who runs off with someone else's keys.
A Burger King booth, Sharon! That is really unusual. Great thing for kids to play with.
Jane, hoping that snake is gone. It is tough down south. Snakes, bugs, etc. Hard to keep them out.
Have a wonderful time at Lake George, KC!
Most things don't work as they used to is so true, Karen E. You do get a lot done, regardless.

Good afternoon. Wordle 1,051 5/6
🟨⬜🟨🟩⬜ ⬜🟨⬜🟩⬜ ⬜🟩🟩🟩⬜ ⬜🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
I'm a little achy today but it doesn't surprise me since it's supposed to rain later this afternoon/evening. I used to think it was an old wives tale that older people could predict weather according to how they're feeling, but now I know it's true. When I get to Heaven, I'm going to have to find my mom and apologize to her for rolling my eyes when she complained about her arthritis acting up!
Gail, Happy Cinco do Mayo to you too!! Have you found your keys yet?? Did you check pockets?
Sandy, your story about Rosie barking made me smile. Back when I was still in school, we had a little dog who thought she was a big brave dog and made sure no critters dare to come in the yard.
Sharon, I never thought about putting a foil dinner in the oven. The one we had last night tasted so good and the best part is we have leftovers!
Ruth, sounds like a fun day! One of my favorite programs on TV is House Hunters. I would love to have a peek into a few million dollar homes.
Geri, you always stay so busy. Enjoy your day today.
Jane, I'm sure that snake is long gone by now. They're more scared of you than you are of them.
KC, enjoy your getaway this week. Sounds like a wonderful place to relax.
Karen E, I hope you can sleep better tonight.
AOTD: 1. I can think of two unusual things I own. The first one is a little hand carved monkey that my grandpa whittled out of a peach pit. He gave it to me when I was around 5 or 6 years old. The second thing is a little bag of sand from the beaches of Iwo Jima. My dad was in the Marines during WWII and fought on Iwo Jima. Several years ago, I went to a July 4th parade and the Grand Marshall was one of the last surviving Marines from that battle. After the parade, I was able to talk with him and his daughter. When I told them that my dad was also a Marine who fought during that battle, they gave me that small bag of sand. It was exactly like my dad described...tiny sand like particles that were made out of crushed volcanic rock. 2. Denise was always a good kid who never got in trouble. Now she's a grown woman who's also a wonderful wife and mother. I don't know if it was something we did right or if we just got lucky.
3. We'll probably never go on a long vacation again. Neither of us are in the best physical shape to spend hours in a car or to walk long distances. We did take some wonderful vacations over the years but those days are behind us now.

Hello 👋. It's going on 1:00 so I'm definitely running late today.
I was trying to think of something odd that I own. I am nowhere near the winner as I do think the Burger King Booth is going to be the number one choice! I do have something that most non Jews would find unusual....a shofar.
A shofar is a Ram's Horn which was used much like a trumpet in ancient times and is still used in many synagogue services as a way to call people to prayer.
I think the proudest things I ever did as a parent was to take my son to parks as often as I could when he was a child. We are blessed to have many and varied parks in Central Florida. Just spending time with my son enjoying the outdoors and swings or slides or even water areas was so special.

Wordle 1,051 3/6
🟨⬜🟨⬜🟨 🟨🟨🟩🟨🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
Connections Puzzle #329 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟨🟨🟨🟨
Strands #63 “Tools for the job” 🔵🔵🔵🔵 🔵🔵🟡🔵
OTD: 1. What is something unusual that you've owned, and what was the story behind it? I have two slightly unusual things right now. A rock has a prominent place in my kitchen. It was left in the house we rented when we lived in Mexico in the mid 70s and I have carried it with me since. It reminds me of our time there. The second is a piggy bank. It is a pig with a bowtie and trousers, eyes closed and smiling. On his white shirt it says, "Saving for my Cadillac." My parents had it in our breakfast room. Dad always wanted a Cadillac. It sits next to my rock.
2. Back to the topic of mothers. I always wanted to have children, but once I did I sometimes wondered about whether I was being a good mom. There were times, though, when I knew I had done something just right. Think of a point in time when you felt really proud of what you did as a mother with your child/children? I know that once our children are adults they make their own way in the world. However, whenever I see what good parents DD and DS are, it makes me very proud and I think I must have done something right.
3. What is one thing you will never do again? Sadly, I will never again go out on DD and DSIL's boat. I used to go with them all the time in CT, but this one does not have a bathroom. I have NEVER felt so uncomfortable as I did at the end of the only time I did go out with them down here. That is where they are today...great place to be on a day like this.
Time to eat something and continue looking for those keys around here. I will go to the garage next.
