This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
All are welcome here.

Good morning and happy Thursday! Jana - safe travels! I hope the weather is good for driving and that you and DH have a lovely long weekend in ATL. Susie - Lady, you're not wrong about just replacing the toilet seat. Truly, getting the old toilet seat off was THE WORST part of that little project yesterday. haha! Robin - hope you got all of your outside tasks completed yesterday. Janet - Counting down to the long weekend Good to hear that the new boy had a relatively good first day. I hope day two will be with fewer tears. Jill - I hope all is well. Well, after all of the twisting, turning, bending & stretching required for me to complete that little project yesterday, and in a very tight space, I've got some really sore muscles today. My back, upper arms, backs of my thigh...it's all a little sore. Ha! So I think I'll pass on the gym today and just do some stretches in a little while instead. I woke up with a banging headache, so coffee first and then maybe a hot shower to help knock that out. Today I'll probably do a couple of loads of laundry. And then this evening is date night. Last night me if I'd accompany him to our fave steakhouse at the harbor. We haven't been there in a while, so I answered with an enthusiastic YES! I hope it's nice weather, as we usually like to walk either at the harbor or walk by the lake across the road after dinner. Plus, I really enjoy the scenery, but even if it's not favorable weather, I will without a doubt enjoy my meal. Wishing everyone a lovely Thursday! I'll likely pop back by later.

Good Morning All - I didn't have to rush off anyplace this morning, but DH had an early LLI class for which he could have kicked himself since Thursday is our easier day - lol! He will return about 11:30 and we are meeting old neighbors for lunch. I guess I will be walking alone today since DD has a field trip with DGD today. I have a couple errands to run, so I guess I will be off as soon as I finish my coffee.
Lora - I bed you are sore. Just relax and think about that dinner tonight!
Jana - safe travels. I am going to let you inspire me and see if I can get motivated to get these nagging few pounds off and get myself back to FREE. I was so good for so long, and then "poof!"
So I read that wall squats were really good for you and I had been doing one after my gym class for like a minute to maybe 1 and 45 seconds, but this articles said to do 4 sets of 2 minutes each with a 2 minute break in between - REALLY?? I did the first for 2 minutes, the second for 1 minute, the third for 1 minute and that is it! I am going to have to build up to that.... I originally started the squats to strengthen my thighs to support my bad knees, but the idea in this article was that they help blood flow in arteries, etc. maybe even flush out some plaque, so I will keep working on them.
Waving to everyone....

Good morning everyone, Lora, that's good that everything went together and you got it done. I laughed out loud when you said you cleaned your soul I like doing little projects around the place. I think my biggest issue is what tools I have/don't have. I am building up the tools that I need and it makes things so much easier. I guess my mom was like yours....she could do so many things around the house. Probably partly out of necessity because Dad was gone so much over the years. Of course, we lived on post whenever we could so things could get fixed by the post engineers, but sometimes she didn't want to wait. Your date night sounds great! I hope your stretching helps with the soreness and your headache eases up soon. Janet, you have such a good attitude about the kids. I hope you have a nice day today. Susie, I laughed about you, too, when you said someone asked if you were ok, laying there under the van! That really is good, though, because who knows!? Your neighborhood is a very caring group. Jill, I hope you are getting things wound up for school's end. Jana, I hope your trip is really fun, relaxing, and you have good weather. That's great that your efforts are paying off. I hope it all helps with your stomach, too. I have really noticed a difference with mine, since I settled into my eating habits for the past year. Except for my anxiety, which always messes with my gut, I am rarely in pain, don't get up at 0400 every morning with cramps, and generally haven't had any problems for a long time. I don't crave junk food at all, either. I did get all my tomatoes in the ground yesterday and got the cages up. YDD gave me several varieties that will be good for canning. I hope I get a good crop this year. I was able to get some mowing done and also some weeding. I really need to get several bags of mulch, but just haven't made it to the garden center yet. I want to get up to the pool today and take the cover off. I might get a load of water to top it off, rather than use my hose. It just takes so long to get the water level back up enough to get the pump running. I also have some flower bed work to do up there, and I think my new cultivator is really going to help. That, and some weed killer! It got really hot yesterday, then we had just a bit of rain overnight, and it is cloudy today. The air is nice and cool this morning, but they aren't calling for rain until later this afternoon. I didn't spray my tree yesterday since it needs to be on there about 24 hours before any rain. I think tomorrow morning will be the time. I think I am going to do some inside stuff this morning, and maybe get a little more mowing done this afternoon if it doesn't rain. I haven't been able to get my push mower started the last two times I mowed, so I'm going to look into that. Grrrr. I do not want to spend money getting that fixed. I really need it, too. I guess I'll get off of here and start some laundry, but I'll be back later. I got in a hurry yesterday picking Breslin up after getting groomed (she loves her summer style!), so I never made it back. Wishing a great day for all, and a safe trip for Jana, RobinMD

Hi Susie, we were on at the same time. I forgot to say that the Lusitania LLI sounded really good! Wall squats are good for you, and also your core. Remember to keep your weight in your heels, engage your core, and only go down as far as is comfortable as you build up your time. When I was in the fire academy, we had to do wall squats or planks, while reciting the county Mission Statement. It was meant to be punishment, but it pushed us to stay in that pose for a pretty good amount of time! You could hear people's breathing get heavier, and then the moaning would start It really does help your knees, because your quads are attached at the knee and help strengthen the supporting structure of the knee. Just like walking, going downhill works your quads, going uphill works your hamstrings and glutes, so building those supportive muscles helps with all of it. Remember to warm up and stretch before and after. I hadn't heard of or really thought about the vascular benefits! I think you did really good times. I hope you have a great lunch! Robin

Hi again! Susie - Like Robin, I also laughed at you being under the van. Other than replacing headlights, wipers, etc. I don't really deal with the cars too much. I certainly don't want to be under one...I catastrophize everything, so my anxiety would likely step in and say No Way to that. haha! When I first started at the gym I was doing a wall squat at the end of each workout, but kind of got away from that. I need to add that back in. But sets of 2 minute sits??? IDK if I'm up for all that. Enjoy your lunch with old friends. Robin - we've spent a while building up tools as well. We don't have much in the way of fancy or specialty tools, but we're pretty good on basics. I think we're over stocked on yard type tools and equipment though. I swear, I think Mark has collected 2 of everything for yard work. Well the hot shower and stretching only helped my sore muscles for a little while, as soon as I got still for a few minutes I tightened up again. I think I'll do some more stretching later. My headache seems to have moved on, so that's a good thing. I'm definitely looking forward to dinner tonight.

Hello again! Lora, I am currently sitting with an ice pack on my lower back! I stretched and got on the inversion table and now this is my next go-to. I also took a couple of Advil, so it should all help soon, and I will wake up tomorrow just fine. Like you, it seems like doing things that involve joints and muscles that don't get used in the usual ways (like being under a toilet tank or trying to put tomato cages into the ground) cause some temporary issues! You wouldn't think tomato cages would be anything at all, but the land in this area is SO rocky, that I keep hitting rocks that won't let me get the darn pokey things into the soil very far. I keep having to dig and try to get rocks out of the way. With a couple that are unusually long, I decided to turn the cage over and anchored them to the ground with tent stakes It worked great! I hope you really enjoy the dinner and post-dinner walk. I just love a delicious steak! I was able to get the cover off the pool...it was not a pretty sight underneath, but at least I can let any water from storms go in, and I'll get the pump attached in the next day or two. I seem to have all the chemicals I need for opening. I will go to the pool store and get some extra hoses and anything else I might need. Here's to hoping that things hook right up with no leaks or issues! This is the earliest I've opened it in years, but the winter cover was shredded anyway. As hot as it got today, I might be able to use it soon, too. I am still waiting for this job to go through. Getting hired at the hospital is like joining the Army. I am actually still applying to other options, just in case. I had a phone interview this morning with a Pennsylvania hospital that uses EMTs in their E.D. and they run 911 calls as well as working in the E.D. I did clinicals up there when I was getting my Paramedic 22 years ago! I don't want to be off forever, and the Hem/Onc manager wants me to start a.s.a.p., but I am getting frustrated. I might call them tomorrow and see what the heck is going on. I know that my start date of June 3rd is getting delayed I think I will go get something going for dinner. I went to the store today and picked up a couple of things. I might throw a salad together and finish up my salmon patties. I will be going up early tonight to stretch out and get a good night's sleep (I hope). I hope everyone is having a great week and a good evening. I will be back...waving to everyone! RobinMD
