Welcome to Alcohol Free is What We Want To Be! We are glad you are here with us! If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you...or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgement that we have been there, done that. This board of great people will support you in your journey.
Some of us have been here for several years, others are new, but all are welcome and if you have visited before but didn't stay, there is still and always a place for you. Don't get overwhelmed, take your time, if something strikes you, respond. We are great at giving advice, whether you want it or not....you will get tough love, if necessary, but you will also find help. We practice positive self-talk and support, we encourage and gently hold each other accountable. We each have stories to tell, share and suggestions to help. We post different challenges during the year. Please join us if you think this is the group for you. You will be glad you did.

NEW CHALLENGE! Declaration of Independence from Alcohol June 1 - July 4
Freedom from alcohol? Does that make sense to you? Are you held hostage to it, use it to calm yourself, to forget what is going on, to get through the evening or even the day? What once was an enjoyable treat has become a daily necessity? Or are you wondering if you are drifting into some kind of undefined, gray area of casual dependency? Then it is time to take a stand and declare yourself independent. It isn't easy, if it was there would be no need for the support of this board. But together we stand and together we can fight it.
Think about the freedom from alcohol. It isn't just about the money, but it is about your health and well-being.
How is your Pursuit of Happiness being affected by alcohol?
The focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is be alcohol free from June 1 - July 4, one day at a time. Starting June 1 and ending July 4, we are challenging ourselves to make the right choices, and go alcohol free. Can you let yourself be the person you want to be? Can you reach out for help if need be? The rules are simple, no alcohol for the challenge (understanding for a very special occasion is given). Post your stats daily, it is an essential component to success. One misstep does not mean throw away the day, the night, the week. We are works in progress.
This is a challenge about control....you are in control of what goes in your mouth. Give yourself the gift of THINDEPENDENCE and be selfish if that is what is needed to take care of you!
If you slip, post to the board and find some understanding. If you slip and report you are AF, you are not hurting us, you are hurting yourself. Slips happen, pick yourself up and start again. There is no judgement, we are very supportive of each other.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment to the challenge is the way to go. For others, one day at a time is the way to go. No one will be cut from the challenge. And feel free to post to the board even if you choose not to commit to the challenge. But you might want to ask yourself why.
June 1 - June 7: What is your PREAMBLE (your intention for the challenge?)
June 8 - June 14: What are your BIll of RIghts as a Weight Watcher? (the right to eat fruit, the right to exercise, the right to feel good about yourself, etc.)
June 15 - June 21: What is your pursuit of Happiness?
June 22 - June 29: What does Freedom mean to you by working this life plan?
July 4: Get ready for your own fireworks to happen by declaring your Truths! Kick tyranny of alcohol and a few extra pounds aside as we celebrate THINDEPENDENCE.

June 15: June 22: June 29: July 4: Celebrate! Final weigh in: Good morning all. It's a beautiful sunny day out and I need to get out and enjoy it. Tho mostly it may be doing weeding and yard work. All good. Felt like I got some things done yesterday and try to keep the roll moving. I did buy some B-12 vitamins and have been taking them. Not sure if they are helping or it's just mental, but feeling less brain fog and more Zip. Since I will be cat sitting this weekend and not going up north, I booked us an overnight campsite at Devil's Lake for Tuesday to Wednesday. It's just a couple hours away, DH likes it as we used to go rock climbing there. He can hike a bit and I can do the trail along the lake which is mostly flat but really nice. Want to get some use out of the camper so these mini trips may be the answer for now. I can still go to my WW meeting in the morning and then we can leave before noon to get to the lake. Not much else on the plan for the day. Keep purging things for either the Flea Market or Thrift donation. I'm hoping when DS comes this summer we can go through his closet and dresser. I know some suit jackets and shirts are no longer needed or don't fit, but I don't want to ditch them until he looks through them. Every little bit out of the house helps. Guess I should figure out some breakfast. 3 goals for the week are water, protein and steps. Have a great Sunday all. Jan Hi Amy I see you are posting right now I'll check back in later. Cindy Glad the septic is working and maybe the warm weather will help dry up the yard. Glad the birds are fed and that DH can probably fix the screen. You are doing well if you can have the Dew in the fridge and leave it alone! Hope your knee gets to where you can get in some water and you can find a pool. We have 2 YMCA's in town and it seems more kids go to the one across town as that pool has a play structure in it. They have lessons at the downtown one but in the mornings it seems it's mostly seniors. But then I haven't been since school is out either. I need to do a good pantry cleaning, I know there are things in there from before Christmas, cookies I bought, crackers that are probably stale. I'll check out the book. Carole Hope you are getting this nice weather today. Yay for taking the pups for ice cream What series are you reading?

DH, DS, & I took the golf cart to walk the nature trail yesterday morning. It was just barely into the 60's and lovely, I was surprised there weren't more folks out. We had bacon, scrambled eggs with veggies, fresh fruit, and donuts for breakfast. After DS left I had a bit of couch time then went out to fertilize the garden plants and spent some time staking some of the taller plants. I picked a few strawberries, green beans, and peppers, including a couple of jalapenos. Since I couldn't think of an immediate use for the jalapenos, I diced them up and froze for later use, probably salsa once the tomatoes start coming in. I did pick one small tomato that needs to ripen a bit more. It was pushing 90 by the time I was done outside, but the humidity was low, so it wasn't bad. I had more couch time, finished the laundry. We had a grilled steak for dinner with potatoes, leftover green beans, sliced tomatoes for dinner. I had another donut after dinner, only 1.5 left so they should be gone today. After dinner I watched GOT and finished stitching the front to the back of Santa #11.
It's partly cloudy this morning, already up to 70. There is a chance of rain, we'll either mow the yard today or tomorrow. I think I forgot to mention that our gardenias are blooming pretty well this year, the first time we've ever had more than just a few blooms. Before I woke up this morning I had a dream that we were on a tour someplace and missed the bus leaving for the next stop. One of those aggravating dreams when you are trying to figure out how to get somewhere.
Jan- WTG steps, PU, stretches, AP, blue dot, AF, fighting off the wine witch, seeing the top of the work table, agreeing to feed the neighbor's cat. I understand staying up late with a book. Sorry the pedi place was too busy. Yay for Finn coming home. I would have liked to have had a Go Pro on Annie when she was an outdoor cat. I've got way too many photos on my phone too. I would have trouble throwing out the rhubarb crisp too. Duck Donuts is a chain, but it doesn't look like they are in very many states yet. They are cake donuts, I prefer the yeast kind, but the toppings are fabulous. The Dallas Markets charges a monthly fee and takes a percentage of sales so it's probably not feasible, but will continue to think about it.
Carole- Sorry the weather was dreary, yay for taking the pups for a walk. Enjoy the last book of the trilogy.
Cindy- Yay for the septic working. I'm not ready for the 90's either, but it's here. It's weird about the $11 bill from 2022. WTG staying off the Mountain Dew. Soda seems to be one of those things that went up during the pandemic and never came back down. I can usually find deals for around $5 per 12-pack, but that's still too high in my opinion.

Hi friends! Only 8 days left of this challenge! I really want some ice cream!! We had a great workout this am and then I floated for a bit. Lex is working, Ty’s golfing and DH is in a cruddy mood.
Amy, 90s is too hot! I used to love that kind of weather. Now I only want it if I’m by an ocean!
Jan, I think the name of the trilogy is between heaven and earth—it’s by Roanhorse or something. It’s fantasy/science fiction. (I think!) last book is called Mirrored Heavens. Really good series! I’ve heard Devils lake is beautiful!
Cindy, so happy your septic is working! How much longer do you have PT?

What a beautiful country we live in! I see why this town is called Jackson Hole! It is in a hole surrounded by mountains! I go out and literally gasp at how big and pretty they are! I’m so glad we came a day early to get acclimated. It has been so relaxing! This morning we swam in the indoor/outdoor pool and then relaxed in the hot tub. It’s almost time to go down to the Welcome Reception. We checked in and got our itinerary a little earlier. I have no idea how Jan and Amy either lost or only gained a little on vacation. Yes, Jan, I am eating the goodies and loving every second! It’s not like I’m making too bad of choices, but we all know how they add up! I’ll deal with it when I get back! Tomorrow starts the busy, busy, rush rush. I’ll check in when I can!
