Welcome to Alcohol Free is What We Want To Be!We are glad you are here with us! If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you...or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgement that we have been there, done that. This board of great people will support you in your journey.
Some of us have been here for several years, others are new, but all are welcome and if you have visited before but didn't stay, there is still and always a place for you. Don't get overwhelmed, take your time, if something strikes you, respond. We are great at giving advice, whether you want it or not....you will get tough love, if necessary, but you will also find help. We practice positive self-talk and support, we encourage and gently hold each other accountable. We each have stories to tell, share and suggestions to help. We post different challenges during the year. Please join us if you think this is the group for you. You will be glad you did.

NEW CHALLENGE! Declaration of Independence from Alcohol June 1 - July 4
Freedom from alcohol? Does that make sense to you? Are you held hostage to it, use it to calm yourself, to forget what is going on, to get through the evening or even the day? What once was an enjoyable treat has become a daily necessity? Or are you wondering if you are drifting into some kind of undefined, gray area of casual dependency? Then it is time to take a stand and declare yourself independent. It isn't easy, if it was there would be no need for the support of this board. But together we stand and together we can fight it.
Think about the freedom from alcohol. It isn't just about the money, but it is about your health and well-being.
How is your Pursuit of Happiness being affected by alcohol?
The focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is be alcohol free from June 1 - July 4, one day at a time. Starting June 1 and ending July 4, we are challenging ourselves to make the right choices, and go alcohol free. Can you let yourself be the person you want to be? Can you reach out for help if need be? The rules are simple, no alcohol for the challenge (understanding for a very special occasion is given). Post your stats daily, it is an essential component to success. One misstep does not mean throw away the day, the night, the week. We are works in progress.
This is a challenge about control....you are in control of what goes in your mouth. Give yourself the gift of THINDEPENDENCE and be selfish if that is what is needed to take care of you!
If you slip, post to the board and find some understanding. If you slip and report you are AF, you are not hurting us, you are hurting yourself. Slips happen, pick yourself up and start again. There is no judgement, we are very supportive of each other.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment to the challenge is the way to go. For others, one day at a time is the way to go. No one will be cut from the challenge. And feel free to post to the board even if you choose not to commit to the challenge. But you might want to ask yourself why.
June 1 - June 7: What is your PREAMBLE (your intention for the challenge?)
June 8 - June 14: What are your BIll of RIghts as a Weight Watcher? (the right to eat fruit, the right to exercise, the right to feel good about yourself, etc.)
June 15 - June 21: What is your pursuit of Happiness?
June 22 - June 29: What does Freedom mean to you by working this life plan?
July 4: Get ready for your own fireworks to happen by declaring your Truths! Kick tyranny of alcohol and a few extra pounds aside as we celebrate THINDEPENDENCE.

DH & I took the golf cart to the top of the hill to walk yesterday morning. It was a bit cooler, less humid, and a nice breeze. When we got back DH mowed the yard while I edged, trimmed, weeded. I planted some squash seedlings, watered the garden plants. I braved the hill along the woods to pick a few blackberries, got some scratches to show for it. I also picked some strawberries, green beans, and peppers. When I came in I soaked in the tub for a bit, had lunch, and some couch time. We had pizza for dinner, I made a tossed salad with celery, carrots, peas, and tomatoes. After dinner I watched GOT and finished stitching the back of Santa #13, it should be done tonight.
It's mostly cloudy this morning, starting in the low 70's. Will head to water aerobics this morning.
Jan- WTG steps, stretches, PU, AP, tracking, AF, going to WW meeting, scale down. Have a nice time relaxing at the cabin.
Cindy- Sorry you haven't been feeling well. Glad your SIL is getting along. The "friend" had some nerve offering to list her house.
Carole- Congrats on the challenge. Enjoy the concert and the zoo.
Cathy- Yay for the scale going down. Enjoy the outing with your friend. WTG being AF with your sister.

M-W Word of the Day
jubilee noun | JOO-buh-lee What It Means Jubilee usually refers to a special anniversary or a celebration of such an anniversary. It can also refer generally to a season of celebration or act of rejoicing, or to a religious song of African Americans referring to a time of future happiness. // My grandparents will be celebrating their golden jubilee this year—as Grandpa puts it, "50 years of wedded bliss and occasional blisters." // The town is planning a year-long jubilee in celebration of its founding 200 years ago.

Hi girls! I was only up 2.4 pounds! And I’m still under 175! Woohoo! I was OP yesterday but had very little activity. We didn’t get home Monday night until 11:45. I slept in until 9:30 but felt exhausted. I slept another 2 1/2 hours in the afternoon. I went to bell practice only because we ring in church on Sunday. I slept well last night and feel more like myself! DS called this morning and wants to come down. I was going to line dance and then swim with a friend, but would much rather see them! Depending on when they leave, I still might be able to swim. My plan is to come back here later to post. I also plan on going to the Y tomorrow. And staying inside whenever possible! 😁

June 22: 194.4 June 29: July 4: Celebrate! Final weigh in: Good morning all. Going to be another good day, because we'll make it one. OVercast today with rain likely but we will do our chores and maybe even go out for pizza tonight. The yard and "resort" look so nice after my cousin did so much mowing and cleaning up. Makes me feel like the old lady as I watch her work so hard. At least I can cook dinner and clean up We had some fun wildlife shows on the river channel, an eagle eating something questionable on the bank across the river last night. The deer coming down to drink. Lots of hummer and woodpecker activity. After all Krissy's work we took the dog and our chairs to the beach and just sat and then walked in the water. Felt so good, refreshing. Luckily there were yucky ice cream choices at the stand so at least one temptation was avoided! I will be "mostly" BOT today, will plan for pizza and then see what happens. We are headed to town at some point, taking the cracked porch window in to the repair shop. I bought 2 hanging baskets yesterday but want to still buy loose plants to fill 2-3 more planters. Buying the pre made at Home Depot was a splurge but just so pretty. Sis came out after work and today they will head to the Green Bay airport to pick up the MIL I'm sure over the next week there will be some stories there! ha ha Luckily sis likes the MIL, it's she and her son that get into it and make each other crazy. I have 3 more days to figure out my fair entries and go pay the fees. I liked 2 of the BW photos I picked up at home but the other 2 just aren't as good. It's hard to know what they will look like blown up to 8x10 or 5x7 until you see them, they lose some of the sharpness and clarity. It's because I can't shoot in BW, have to edit them on the computer and it's not the same. Oh well, learning. Guess I should get moving to get some steps. I think Kris is leaving at some point on Friday, the boy has baseball playoffs on Saturday she wants to see. I will probably stay until Sunday or Monday, unless the house feels too empty when she and the doggy go One big NEWS that I haven't even told DH is I teased DS about proposing to the GF on her birthday tomorrow, figuring I'd get the silent treatment or the eye roll pic. He responds with "That would be too cliche, I do have the ring, just waiting til the right moment!" Floored me! But exciting. I don't know if she knows he has the ring or not, who knows, maybe she picked it out. Anyway, maybe he'll wait til they come up here, but I"m thinking somewhere by her family and then they would do the photo thing. Anyway, brightens my day. Have a good one all. Jan GG Glad you are home and catching up on your sleep. Hope you can get to swimming but glad you'll get to see the kids this morning. Are you processing all you saw and did on your trip. Cindy HOpe you feel better soon too! Crazy about the Celtic win on the same day. I have been slacking on my hip/leg exercises which I know help in the long run. I could feel it in my hip yesterday after walking in the water at the beach. That was pretty rude of the "friend" to talk about the house. We have mostly lost our compassion ability I think. We can just keep trying to be kind to others. Amy Have fun at water aerobics. GL getting enough blackberries without too many scratches After Santa 13 will you be back to sale items? Do you ever make Santas for the holiday market? or too my work. Carole I'm having a hard time imagining where you would have found 9# of fat to lose??? Yikes, that seems impossible. Glad the challenge is over. Have fun at the concert and the zoo. Cathy Have a fun day out with your friend.

Hi All,
Feeling a bit better today, thinking one more day and I'll be fine. Was just cold today and it was over 90 degrees outside. Suppose to go to PT tomorrow and start working on kneeling!
Amy, thanks for getting us going! I got up somewhat early to feed Ainsley but then went back to bed. Hope you had a wonderful time at water aerobics. Love hearing what you can pick from your garden. I asked DS if he thought he could get a couple of planters going with peppers and tomatoes. Then today I read that Kroger's was having a big sale on vegetables....hmmmm. What season of GOT are you on?
Vicki, yay for a blip weight gain and still being under 175! You did great! I would have picked family over exercising!
Jan, wow for DS having a ring for GF. Curious minds, meaning me, want to know how this will go? Happy pre-congratulations! Sometimes the pre made baskets are just worth it!
Carole, you look great! I'm not sure, as Jan said, where 9# of fat could have come from but way to go! Enjoy the concert and the zoo!
Cathy, hope you had a wonderful day with your friend!
Hi Liz!
Hi Murphy!
Just got a notification that I have an evaluation with the PT director and it conflicts with my RA appointment.Something to deal with in the morning.
Hugs to all, sleep well! Cindy
