Welcome to Alcohol Free is What We Want To Be!We are glad you are here with us! If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you...or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgement that we have been there, done that. This board of great people will support you in your journey.
Some of us have been here for several years, others are new, but all are welcome and if you have visited before but didn't stay, there is still and always a place for you. Don't get overwhelmed, take your time, if something strikes you, respond. We are great at giving advice, whether you want it or not....you will get tough love, if necessary, but you will also find help. We practice positive self-talk and support, we encourage and gently hold each other accountable. We each have stories to tell, share and suggestions to help. We post different challenges during the year. Please join us if you think this is the group for you. You will be glad you did.

NEW CHALLENGE! Declaration of Independence from Alcohol June 1 - July 4
Freedom from alcohol? Does that make sense to you? Are you held hostage to it, use it to calm yourself, to forget what is going on, to get through the evening or even the day? What once was an enjoyable treat has become a daily necessity? Or are you wondering if you are drifting into some kind of undefined, gray area of casual dependency? Then it is time to take a stand and declare yourself independent. It isn't easy, if it was there would be no need for the support of this board. But together we stand and together we can fight it.
Think about the freedom from alcohol. It isn't just about the money, but it is about your health and well-being.
How is your Pursuit of Happiness being affected by alcohol?
The focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is be alcohol free from June 1 - July 4, one day at a time. Starting June 1 and ending July 4, we are challenging ourselves to make the right choices, and go alcohol free. Can you let yourself be the person you want to be? Can you reach out for help if need be? The rules are simple, no alcohol for the challenge (understanding for a very special occasion is given). Post your stats daily, it is an essential component to success. One misstep does not mean throw away the day, the night, the week. We are works in progress.
This is a challenge about control....you are in control of what goes in your mouth. Give yourself the gift of THINDEPENDENCE and be selfish if that is what is needed to take care of you!
If you slip, post to the board and find some understanding. If you slip and report you are AF, you are not hurting us, you are hurting yourself. Slips happen, pick yourself up and start again. There is no judgement, we are very supportive of each other.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment to the challenge is the way to go. For others, one day at a time is the way to go. No one will be cut from the challenge. And feel free to post to the board even if you choose not to commit to the challenge. But you might want to ask yourself why.
June 1 - June 7: What is your PREAMBLE (your intention for the challenge?)
June 8 - June 14: What are your BIll of RIghts as a Weight Watcher? (the right to eat fruit, the right to exercise, the right to feel good about yourself, etc.)
June 15 - June 21: What is your pursuit of Happiness?
June 22 - June 29: What does Freedom mean to you by working this life plan?
July 4: Get ready for your own fireworks to happen by declaring your Truths! Kick tyranny of alcohol and a few extra pounds aside as we celebrate THINDEPENDENCE.

Water aerobics was good yesterday, but the water was colder and the breeze was cool. When I got home DH & I took the golf cart to the nature trail to walk and pick blackberries. There aren't as many blackberries along the trail as last year but we explored some side trails and ended up with around 2 qts. I've got some frozen juice from last year and I plan on picking at Logan Farm Park tomorrow so there should be enough for one batch of jelly. Of course I got scratched up and wasn't entirely certain I didn't get into poison ivy so when we got home I took a Benadryl and showered. Then lunch, couch time, nap. DH made Chicken Cordon Bleu for dinner which we had with pasta and leftover greens. I worked on joining Santa #13 front to back while watching GOT, but didn't finish it. I slept pretty well considering I had a nap in the afternoon.
It's sunny today in the low 70's. No plans today, we might go to the Rockmart farmers market.
Vicki- Yay for staying under 175 and getting a good night's sleep. I recommend writing a journal of your trip, it's amazing how quickly you lose the details when you see so many places. Did you happen to stay in Deadwood when you were near Mount Rushmore? The indoor hotel pool looked familiar.
Jan- WTG steps, PU, stretches, AP, tracking, AF. Glad the yard & resort look so nice after Kris' work and you are enjoying the river channel and bird activity. GL with your fair entries. So exciting that DS has the ring! I usually make an extra Santa to put in the Mistletoe Market. I'm looking forward to making different stuff.
Cindy- Glad you are feeling better. GL with kneeling at PT. Hope you can get some peppers and tomatoes going. It seems like it's taking forever for my tomatoes to get ripe but I've got lots of green ones. I'm about halfway through season 3 of GOT.
Cathy- Sorry the scale is up, yay for a better day. Glad you had with your friend and plan a quiet day at home.

M-W Word of the Day
hue and cry noun | HYOO-und-KRYE What It Means Hue and cry refers to a clamor of alarm or protest in response to something. It can also be used as a synonym of hubbub to refer to general noise or uproar. // After the popular professor was fired by the college, there was such a hue and cry from students that the administration was forced to reconsider its decision.

Hi girls. The kids left in time that I could go splash around with my friend. I ended up being in the pool for 1 1/2 hours! This morning I got up without the alarm and went to the Y. Water aerobics was fine, but I really felt tired after Silver Sneakers! I stopped at Walmart, and was supposed to stop at the greenhouse for vegetable plants, but it is too hot! I just came home.
Amy: You are so right about everything melting together! Our tour director sent out a detailed sheet about all the places we stopped along the way. It was so helpful! The pool was at Jackson Lodge in Jackson Hole. Sorry the water was cold for aerobics!
Cindy: Glad you are starting to feel better! Sorry about the appointment conflicts!
Carole: I can’t even imagine how you lose weight like that!
Jan: Have fun watching the river channel! A ring! Oh what fun!!
Cathy: I am so glad you had such a good visit with DD, and are enjoying going places with your friends!
I think I hear a nap calling!

June 22: 194.4 June 29: July 4: Celebrate! Final weigh in: Hi all. Another indulgent day but moving on today, sort of I ate the egg white bites that Kris had brought, Starbucks from Costco. Hmm, look them up and 10 points. Guess I won't be buying those, but tasted good. Then finished the donuts, threw away some scones, so one point for me. We mostly just ran errands yesterday which was quite a bit of car time so didn't get all the steps I should have. And then we went back to town for pizza dinner. Today we got the call that the window was already finished so we went to pick it up and ended up having breakfast in town. My cousin leaves tomorrow so all eating will be BOT. At least today while we were in town we walked that marina, got in my AP and will get my step goal for today. It's overcast but feels so much better than the heat wave of the other day. I'm watching a deet across the river snack on some tree leaves. He has some small antlers showing, yesterday we finally saw one of the young babies over there. This morning a fawn came right into the yard and pranced around. They are so cute when they still have their spots. Later we are going to walk over to the neighbors and get a couple dozen eggs. We had seen her yesterday while driving up the road and stopped to ask if she had eggs to sell, she just said come over whenever, she has plenty. Kris will take some home and I'll keep some here at the cabin. No big plans for the rest of the day. I will commit to what I want to put in the fair. It's a matter of do I sign up for a wreath, some flower entries, things I'm not sure I'll have or I have to make by the fair. Hope to motivate myself to try some new things to enter. Like no one hardly enters any sewing, or canvas like Amy does. See what I come up with. Hope you are all having a Wonderful Summer Solstice. I was out last evening taking pictures of the amazing sunset over the river, when I turned around there was a rainbow right behind the cabin. Guess it was coming down on my own little pot of gold that I call "home". It's amazing what you see when you really open your eyes and look. May your day be full of great surprises. have a great one. Jan Amy I know I'd have trouble getting into the water if it was cold. Have to get moving fast to warm up. Hope you don't get any poison ivy, glad DH helped pick some of the berries. Sounds like he made a really yummy dinner. Did you find enough berries on the Logan path to get your supply for jam? GG Hope you got to take your nap. Yay for being right back to your activity and the scale will move soon enough. Hope you can still find the veggies you want to plant and you get a little cool stretch again to put them in. All your pictures on FB are amazing and looks like you had a really good time. What's next on the bucket list? Cathy A fun day with friends (or family) is worth the blip on the scale. Mine was up today, and in a few days it will be back down. Cindy Did you get your appointments sorted out? GL with the kneeling at the PT. It's often hard to kneel even without the knee problems. Old people worries. Glad you felt a bit better, hope you warmed up. Waving hi

Hi All!
Got my RA appointment changed to Monday and then my PT was canceled today because an evaluation needs to be done to continue getting it covered and the Director couldn't do it till Tuesday. Was just as glad PT was canceled because I was really congested with a sinus headache but tonight I feel almost normal so yay me! Every day next week I have an appointment....
Amy, Thanks for getting us started. Glad aerobics was good though the water colder. Gathering 2 qts of blackberries is great. How much do you need for a batch of jelly? Hope you didn't get into poison ivy! Love Chicken Cordon Bleu. I'm too lazy to make it by scratch. Did you make it to the farmers' market?
Jan, I can't remember where your cousin Kris lives but glad that she is able to join you at the cabin and mows! Love all your wild life activity, so much fun to watch. Looking forward to hearing what you are submitting to the fair. Always plan how I'm going to get up if I kneel. Yup, old people worries.
Cathy, enjoy time with your friend! Well worth the blip to use Jan's word.
Carole, hope you are enjoying your concert!
Vicki, love seeing the photos! I wish I had kept a better record of our travels. Glad that you have a detail sheet of all the places you visited.
Hi Liz!
Going to start "Presumed Innocent" on Apple. I read the book and saw the Harrison Ford version of the movie (1990) so interested to see how this series goes.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful evening!
Hugs, Cindy
