People over 60 have a different metabolism than those who are younger, and weight loss gets harder as one ages. This thread is for us.
Join us! Share your ideas, your successes, your frustrations. Offer support. Get advice from folks who are on a similar journey.
Our challenge is to stay on plan, exercise and keep trying to lose weight while improving our overall health -- and maintaining a positive attitude!
Think about where you were and how you felt when you made the initial decision to join The Senior WW Challenge. Close your eyes and remember when you said to yourself “Enough is enough and I’m getting in shape!” On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are you? You really need to be an eight or higher! If not, you should probably reevaluate your thoughts and feelings about regaining great health in your life.
If the thread has not been started for a day, and you are ready to post, feel free to get us started.

We might go to Hy-Vee to get cantaloupe, strawberries, grapes and maybe watermelon plus a loaf of bread. Yesterday when we got the chicken at Kroger that was my first time in a grocery store in weeks. I told Fred I am just having a hard time even making a list as nothing sounds good but those fruits do so can at least get that.

Good afternoon! It is a gray day here. Perhaps some rain. I never know whether to water my plants with a forecast like that. It will stay below 90, which is good. So sad about all the d
Nothing much planned today. I am getting a haircut, then will go out to dinner with friends before seeing MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS put on by our community theater. I went with Tom to part of the dress rehearsal but we sat way in the back and I could not really understand what some of the characters were saying with their different accents. We left before the intermission.
I stayed up way too late last night watching TV. A lovely documentary about Gene Wilder, REMEMBERING GENE WILDER plus a few episodes of WHITE COLLAR, based on Frank Abagnale, Jr., the character in CATCH ME IF YOU CAN starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks. He posed as a doctor, an airplane pilot, and a lawyer before he was 18. He was also a major forger. This show covers the period when he was working with the FBI. He later ended up being a security consultant for major companies. Good show, recommended by Ruth on GROOVY MOVIES.

We ended up with 1.3 tenths ins of rain another shot late last evening. Treasure every drop. Very humid this morning although it says temperature is 89 at moment because it will be in the 90’s before evening. I did go to timber to pick up the last load of trash but the humidity as to intense, kinda made my stomach turn so I am back inside for remainder of most of the day. May pop in and out for certain things.
Will work on quilt . Debra’s birthday is the 26th and pretty sure it will be finished but can’t say I will be seeing her anytime soon. Shayna will be back this evening so doubt Brenda will be going to Des Moines within the week. As both her girls are going back to NC next Saturday. Think she is going to be pretty sad with both her children so many mikes away for the first time.
Not much interesting news here.
last Ruthie mom’s post. Recovery is going good.
Ruthie’s hunting night crawlers and doing a lot of snuggling!! I still can’t believe we are home!! She is doing great (mostly just wanting to lay around (which is fine since she needs to go easy for several weeks) I started this page for a few reasons 1) being the more people praying for you the better! No if ands or butts about 🙏🙏 2) I wanted to look back at these memories and trials some day and be able to see how far we’ve came!! And 3) because I was desperately looking for some one with a similar story so I could get answers and find understanding of what was going to happen, (please some one with a crystal ball come forward) and to know that I wasn’t alone and how to prepare my self for the future with a medial fragile child. Me serching for those things made me know there is no crystal ball BUT you are not alone!! There are so many goooood gooood people out there, and God is the only way to find understanding, even with different outcomes there is a reason and purpose for it all. The amount of times I’ve felt God in these last 6 months are probably more than I have in my entire life!! There is no prep for this journey it’s the hardest thing you will ever do but you are NOT alone💛💛

Denise and Maya just left a little while ago. They came over to have lunch with us and to pick up the cat supplies they left here earlier this week when they picked up Nemo. Today they brought their dog, Target. She loves coming with them and she gets so excited when Denise asks her if she wants to go see Grandma and Grandpa. Of course, part of the reason she loves coming over is the special doggie treats I keep in the pantry for her and she knows exactly what door they're behind!
It's sweltering out there today. It's 90 degrees but feels like it's hotter because of the humidity. Denise and Maya left Target here while they went to some garage sales, but they weren't gone long because it was too hot to be getting in and out of the car.
Sandy, fresh fruit hits the spot on hot days like today. I just bought a big bag of fresh cherries and they're delicious and sweet. With all the fruit you intend to buy, you could make an awesome fruit salad.
Gail, I always liked Gene Wilder. What channel was the documentary on?
Karen E, such good news every day about little Ruthie. She's a little miracle from God.

I went to the pool. The water in the inside part is cold but I wasn’t prepared to be in the sun so I had the cold water to myself.
I took a shower and dressed and found Kelcy’s teeth treat in his bed. So i didn’t try to give him his heart med.
I went to great clips for a haircut and realized i didn’t have my phone so didn’t go to Walmart.
Everyone sounds good so just waving

Hello Friends!
Where did the day go? I can't say I got anything constructive done. Been catching up on my reading and I did watch a documentary on Netflix HACK YOUR HEALTH: THE SECRETS OF YOUR GUT. Gail, we started watching WHITE COLLAR today based on your recommendation. It wasn't me that recommended it. Thanks. We are enjoying it.
Geri, Mouse is adorable!
Mackenzie finished her bachelor's degree today! She and a girlfriend are celebrating in Nashville. Shragae, When does Sam graduate? They were both attending UCF. Mackenzie is moving back to Tampa next month.

What a blessing to see Ruthie home and smiling!
DD rescued two kittens to join the family. The Ginger one they named Pumpkin and the Tiger is Pepper. They are brother and sister. The kittens will not be in my apartment since I have carpeting and the dander is not good for lungs. The DGDs are happy!
KC so sorry to hear about your back issues. Glad you are more comfortable.
Karen how is your DBIL doing now?
Vicki you mentioned that one serving is 15 carbs and DH tries to stick to 4-6 servings. Does that mean he can have 60-90 carbs per meal?

Worst food I would say any processed food. Best would be fresh fruits and veggies.
This week I was at Encore Tuesday-Thursday. As always it was relaxing and fun. Steamed Lobster has been $6.99 lb at our local market. Yum! I had lobster and corn on the cob for lunch and for dinner grape tomatoes, asparagus, lobster sautéed over tagliatelle. Delish!
It has been very hot here the whole time I was at Encore. It has cooled down now somewhat.
Hope everyone has a good evening.
