Welcome to Alcohol Free is What We Want To Be!We are glad you are here with us! If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you...or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgement that we have been there, done that. This board of great people will support you in your journey.
Some of us have been here for several years, others are new, but all are welcome and if you have visited before but didn't stay, there is still and always a place for you. Don't get overwhelmed, take your time, if something strikes you, respond. We are great at giving advice, whether you want it or not....you will get tough love, if necessary, but you will also find help. We practice positive self-talk and support, we encourage and gently hold each other accountable. We each have stories to tell, share and suggestions to help. We post different challenges during the year. Please join us if you think this is the group for you. You will be glad you did.

NEW CHALLENGE! Declaration of Independence from Alcohol June 1 - July 4
Freedom from alcohol? Does that make sense to you? Are you held hostage to it, use it to calm yourself, to forget what is going on, to get through the evening or even the day? What once was an enjoyable treat has become a daily necessity? Or are you wondering if you are drifting into some kind of undefined, gray area of casual dependency? Then it is time to take a stand and declare yourself independent. It isn't easy, if it was there would be no need for the support of this board. But together we stand and together we can fight it.
Think about the freedom from alcohol. It isn't just about the money, but it is about your health and well-being.
How is your Pursuit of Happiness being affected by alcohol?
The focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is be alcohol free from June 1 - July 4, one day at a time. Starting June 1 and ending July 4, we are challenging ourselves to make the right choices, and go alcohol free. Can you let yourself be the person you want to be? Can you reach out for help if need be? The rules are simple, no alcohol for the challenge (understanding for a very special occasion is given). Post your stats daily, it is an essential component to success. One misstep does not mean throw away the day, the night, the week. We are works in progress.
This is a challenge about control....you are in control of what goes in your mouth. Give yourself the gift of THINDEPENDENCE and be selfish if that is what is needed to take care of you!
If you slip, post to the board and find some understanding. If you slip and report you are AF, you are not hurting us, you are hurting yourself. Slips happen, pick yourself up and start again. There is no judgement, we are very supportive of each other.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment to the challenge is the way to go. For others, one day at a time is the way to go. No one will be cut from the challenge. And feel free to post to the board even if you choose not to commit to the challenge. But you might want to ask yourself why.
June 1 - June 7: What is your PREAMBLE (your intention for the challenge?)
June 8 - June 14: What are your BIll of RIghts as a Weight Watcher? (the right to eat fruit, the right to exercise, the right to feel good about yourself, etc.)
June 15 - June 21: What is your pursuit of Happiness?
June 22 - June 29: What does Freedom mean to you by working this life plan?
July 4: Get ready for your own fireworks to happen by declaring your Truths! Kick tyranny of alcohol and a few extra pounds aside as we celebrate THINDEPENDENCE.

Good Sunday morning all! I had a good day yesterday. Got the clothes dropped off for donation. I donate to Knox Area Rescue Mission and after I dropped off the clothes, I went in their store. Their prices were not great! I was surprised at how expensive they had priced things. I don't know if they would bargain with you or not. Didn't see anything that interested me. I almost stopped at a yard sale but I figured that bringing something into the house would kind of defeat my efforts to purge! LOL. I'm going to get ready for church now. Will check in this afternoon. Have a great start to your day! Murphy

DH & I took the golf cart to the nature trail yesterday morning, thank goodness for shade there. When we got back I planted the jalapeno seedlings I bought on Friday, picked a few green beans and strawberries, did a little deadheading. When I came inside I cleaned and cooked the blackberries then set up the strainer for the juice. I needed 3.5 cups of juice, ended up with about 5.5 cups. I'll either freeze it or make another batch of jelly. I had lunch and couch time and did a workout video with weights, so 3 weight workouts this week. DH grilled a steak for dinner, we had baked potatoes with potatoes from the neighbor, green beans from the garden, and a sliced up a small green tomato that a critter had taken a bite from and knocked it off the vine for fried green tomatoes, yum. I mixed some of the "sludge" from the blackberries into some vanilla ice cream. It was tasty, but a LOT of seeds. I stitched and watched GOT after dinner. I had a bit of trouble falling asleep, then slept well.
It's sunny and in the mid-70's, heading to the upper 90's. The porch thermometer said it was over 101 yesterday in the late afternoon, but it was in the sun at that point, so falsely high.
Vicki- Happy anniversary! The seed package said asparagus beans, but I usually call them yard long beans. The are loving the arched trellises.
Jan- WTG steps, stretches, AP, blue dot, AF, 35 plants for the week, doing the laundry. Sorry it's rainy and chilly. Cory and DD are going with us to Indiana, should be fun. The neighbor girl will watch the cats.
Cathy- My grandma had a mulberry tree, I don't remember anyone ever doing anything with the berries.
Murphy- Thanks for getting us started. WTG donating clothes to the mission.

Still some gray but have seen a little sun this morning. It rained all day yesterday, through the night. The river is way up and we may get some more rain off and on today. I will work on inside chores and getting things ready to go home. Have to check my photos and see if I have enough frames for all my entries. Need to close up the barn outside, still plant a few petunias I bought, or take them home to do if it's too soggy out. Sis thought she may try to sneak out but we'll see. I am not planning on making any meal as I have LO salad and chicken to use up. Will refill the hummer feeders before I leave, at least I don't have to water all the pots and plants Just a pretty lazy day watching the river channel and working on some crafts. This week's goal is to just be BOT. I feel like I spent all the end of this week trying to get back to where I was Tuesday after eating all the junk. Progress would be a lot quicker if I worked on following a straighter line, instead of up,down, up, down. Try to start today with a rollover or 2. Have a great Sunday all. Jan Murphy Thanks for starting us. Glad you got out of the store without buying anything new I won't shop at Goodwill most of the time anymore as their prices have gotten so crazy. Have a good morning at church. Is the choir still singing in the summer? Cathy When you thaw the mulberries do you just eat them or bake with them?
Amy Sounds like a good day. Nice to share produce with the neighbor. I made some fake Nice cream last night, frozen banana with some yogurt, strawberries and sf nestle chocolate. Not bad Should be a fun visit up with family. I wouldn't mind a little of your heat today Better post while I can. Will check in tomorrow when I get home.

We had a great service this morning. Came home and had a quick lunch. I had ordered a new rug for the living room from Amazon. It's really pretty and bigger than the one I had which was a hand me down from my sister and it was starting to show its age. I got a smoking good deal on this one. It's 6 x 9 and was on sale for $99 and then a 50% of coupon! So it ended up being $45! And it's washable! Pretty sure that I would have to take it to a laundry mat to use a big machine but I'm just very happy with it. Kind of looks like a worn oriental rug? www.amazon.com/dp/B0BDL2VQKX?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details. This is the link on Amazon if you want to look at it. Then I made a quick trip to Aldi for some salad stuff for the week. I did make my bean salad yesterday and will eat on that all week. I take a can of black beans, a can of corn, some chopped red onion, cucumber, celery and grape tomatoes and then add some fat free Italian dressing. It keeps all week and is good on a salad or as a side dish. It's so hot and muggy here that I might cook a little bit of macaroni and mix it in with a bowl to make kind of a pasta salad. Anyway - no other plans for today. Everyone enjoy the rest of your day! Murphy

Hi friends! We celebrated Father’s Day for Jeff today. It was nice, the 4 of us together. The gym had a stretch class this morning. It was ok. I really need that though, I’m so inflexible.
Amy, would dd ever go to water aerobics with you? I wish I could get Lex or Ty to come with me once in awhile.
Murphy- I can’t believe you go to church with Morgan Wallen parents! It’d be pretty awesome if he came and listened to your choir!
Jan- how many pictures are you entering. I wanted to bring my camera to the zoo but it’s so heavy. I only have the big zoom lens, I broke the regular lens that came with it.
Cathy, I hope you can talk to your kids soon.
Vicki- your trip sounded awesome.
Have a great night!

No idea why the scale was up...more carbs or late night OP snack or within points but over calories? Who knows. Today will be an OP day, too.
Tomorrow we celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary by going out to eat somewhere...probably to a pizza place but perhaps a Lebanese restaurant. We will see. Didn't talk to the granddaughters as they were busy at a swim meet. Will talk to our daughter this afternoon or tomorrow.
MURPHY: Wise to pass up the yard sale if you are trying to purge!
AMY: Mulberry trees were raised here for silk worm fodder and many still exist. There are white and dark mulberries - we have the dark ones. We make jam with them or eat them from the tree or freeze them.
JAN: I freeze the mulberries (after rinsing and draining) on a jelly-roll tray and when frozen bag for later. I take out a cup at a time and add them to overnight cereal usually. They maintain their shape and don't get soggy like some fruits do.
CINDY: Sorry you have had overwhelming things to deal with. Take care of yourself.
CAROL: It was actually Fathers Day in Lebanon this weekend and the village had some special event asking fathers to come to the city center - we did not go.
Here's to another week of achieving the goals we set for ourselves.
