Welcome to Alcohol Free is What We Want To Be!We are glad you are here with us! If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you...or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgement that we have been there, done that. This board of great people will support you in your journey.
Some of us have been here for several years, others are new, but all are welcome and if you have visited before but didn't stay, there is still and always a place for you. Don't get overwhelmed, take your time, if something strikes you, respond. We are great at giving advice, whether you want it or not....you will get tough love, if necessary, but you will also find help. We practice positive self-talk and support, we encourage and gently hold each other accountable. We each have stories to tell, share and suggestions to help. We post different challenges during the year. Please join us if you think this is the group for you. You will be glad you did.

NEW CHALLENGE! Declaration of Independence from Alcohol June 1 - July 4
Freedom from alcohol? Does that make sense to you? Are you held hostage to it, use it to calm yourself, to forget what is going on, to get through the evening or even the day? What once was an enjoyable treat has become a daily necessity? Or are you wondering if you are drifting into some kind of undefined, gray area of casual dependency? Then it is time to take a stand and declare yourself independent. It isn't easy, if it was there would be no need for the support of this board. But together we stand and together we can fight it.
Think about the freedom from alcohol. It isn't just about the money, but it is about your health and well-being.
How is your Pursuit of Happiness being affected by alcohol?
The focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is be alcohol free from June 1 - July 4, one day at a time. Starting June 1 and ending July 4, we are challenging ourselves to make the right choices, and go alcohol free. Can you let yourself be the person you want to be? Can you reach out for help if need be? The rules are simple, no alcohol for the challenge (understanding for a very special occasion is given). Post your stats daily, it is an essential component to success. One misstep does not mean throw away the day, the night, the week. We are works in progress.
This is a challenge about control....you are in control of what goes in your mouth. Give yourself the gift of THINDEPENDENCE and be selfish if that is what is needed to take care of you!
If you slip, post to the board and find some understanding. If you slip and report you are AF, you are not hurting us, you are hurting yourself. Slips happen, pick yourself up and start again. There is no judgement, we are very supportive of each other.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment to the challenge is the way to go. For others, one day at a time is the way to go. No one will be cut from the challenge. And feel free to post to the board even if you choose not to commit to the challenge. But you might want to ask yourself why.
June 1 - June 7: What is your PREAMBLE (your intention for the challenge?)
June 8 - June 14: What are your BIll of RIghts as a Weight Watcher? (the right to eat fruit, the right to exercise, the right to feel good about yourself, etc.)
June 15 - June 21: What is your pursuit of Happiness?
June 22 - June 29: What does Freedom mean to you by working this life plan?
July 4: Get ready for your own fireworks to happen by declaring your Truths! Kick tyranny of alcohol and a few extra pounds aside as we celebrate THINDEPENDENCE.

Guess this has just not been my week, I think it's when I get lazy or discouraged, don't WI, then eat and drink all the things because I say who cares. Was just in a funk all day yesterday, gray, wet, and never even got dressed or went out. I know that's not good for me. I was happy that I still got some things done and got my steps, but today is a new attitude and new chance to start again. We were so bad last night, no dinner plan, I wanted to just send DH to McDonalds or somewhere but he went to the store and we were having cheeseburgers and fries that he made at @ 8 o'clock. We never eat dinner that late. Would have probably been better if I'd just gone to bed. I have my long to-do list started and will work away at it today. Charging my Fitbit, will get my steps, run errands, pack up things that need to go back to the cabin. Can finish framing my stitching today, had to go in search of the iron to press them first. Was hiding in a cupboard in the craft room. Shows how often I iron. Still pretty gray this morning, but pleasant and may get some sun this afternoon. I want to wait until it dries out a bit before I go check if there are more green beans to pick. Today I will be AF, OP and get my exercise. Enjoy your Saturday all. Jan Murhpy Have fun at the Amish store. Will you girls go out to lunch somewhere? Hope they have a market for you to shop at. Cathy Have fun at the BBQ, whenever you get there Hope the bugs aren't too bad and you don't get lost. Will check in later.

DH & I drove to Logan Farm Park yesterday morning to walk and check out the farmers market. I bought some locally grown blueberries. When we were almost done walking we picked blackberries then headed to Ingles for groceries then Target to return an online order for DD. I bought a bag of fresh popcorn at Target and we munched on that on the way home. I had lunch and some couch time then made a peach cobbler with the neighbor's fresh peaches. We had chicken enchiladas, leftover chile rellenos casserole, rice, and broccoli for dinner. The cobbler was yummy. After dinner we played euchre and watched the last 2 episodes of Not Dead Yet. I was in bed before midnight but had trouble falling asleep so I read until I finally got drowsy.
We've had some clouds today but no rain yet, hoping we get some so I don't have to go out to water. The neighbor is coming with floor samples at 3pm. DH, DS, & I walked the nature trail earlier, very humid but only in the upper 70's at that time. We had scrambled eggs with veggies, bacon, fresh fruit, and cranberry-orange muffins for breakfast. DS has gone home.
Jan- WTG steps, PU, stretches, tracking. Hope the bird is okay. Sorry about your funk, hope today is a better day and you get lots checked off your to-do list. Glad the bean dip was yummy and DS is getting some good experience. I did take my shot yesterday. It's weekly, but you can play with the days in between. We're heading to Indiana on Wednesday, so I'll take it early so I don't have to mess with taking it with me since it's supposed to be refrigerated. I'm told that it's okay if there are at least 72 hours between shots, but no more than 10 days, or you may have to titrate back up. We don't have music at water aerobics but it's not at all dancey. She tells us what to do and counts the reps out loud.
Cathy- Hope you made it to the BBQ without getting too lost, could find some shade, and kept the bugs away.
Murphy- Thanks for getting us started. Hope it was a good trip to the Amish store.
Carole- Hope it wasn't too hot when you walked the pups. WTG for 2 good eating days, being AF at the Shed challenge party, losing the most pounds. Congrats to your DF is losing the highest % fat lost.

M-W Word of the Day
fecund adjective | FEK-und What It Means Fecund is a formal word that typically describes a person, animal, or plant that is producing or able to produce many offspring. It is synonymous with fertile and fruitful. Fecund is also used figuratively to describe something especially intellectually productive or inventive, as in "a fecund source of ideas." // The farmās fecund fields abounded with produce. // The Franklin stove, bifocals, and the lightning rod are just a few of the inventions that we owe to the fecund creativity of Benjamin Franklin.

Finally back home. We did good at the Amish store. I got a pack of two ham hocks that will go in the freezer for when I cook a crock pot of beans. I got some homemade bread and strawberry butter. Then we went to a country restaurant and had lunch. I had the catfish and brought more than half of it home. They had a farmers market next door and I got some homegrown tomatoes, new potatoes, cabbage and okra. I even got a green tomato and I'll fry it tomorrow. It was a fun day but I'm tired! No plans for the rest of the day. Murphy

Have had a better day, at least I feel like I'm doing some things The sun helps. Got my charcoal for the planter, snooped Lowes but nothing called out to me. Got my groceries, a few things on sale that I wanted were already gone. May try the other store in town tomorrow and see if they have what a want. Ironed and framed up my x stitch and now going to knit a bit and relax on the couch. I bought some pluots and red cherries at the store because I needed a few different plants to finish off my week challenge. Also made a pitcher of sun tea. We should be set for the next few days. I think we may be doing BLT's later for dinner. Just wanted to check in. Have a great evening all. Jan Murphy Sounds like a productive day at the market and store. Glad you can now just sit and relax this evening. Your Saturday breakfast's always sound so good. I'm figuring you do it more like a brunch and then don't eat again until dinner. Carole Warm and humid here too. Yay for being AF at the party!! I have the Cubs Brewers game on tv, haven't seen much baseball in the last year or so, at least not Cubs because they usually aren't on our cable. Hardly know most of the players!! Hope the dogs got a good walk and maybe now you can float for the afternoon. Amy Congratulations for officially being in a new decade!! Hope you did a happy dance all around the scale! Peach cobbler sounds so yummy right now with vanilla ice cream. When I went to Lowes I purposely came in from the road that didn't go past the Culvers, been thinking of treats all day. I'm going to treat myself later to a diet root beer float with Halo. Then it's only @ 3 points. Will you come right back from Indiana on the Friday or stay until Saturday? Did you decide on a floor today? Waving hi.

Hi girls. I havenāt posted since Weds? I thought, what was I doing? Partly I was watching Jackās games that were streamed. He had a really good series. He pitched well, and batted even better. He had a home run in 2 different games bringing in runners. This morning they played at 8, and then moved onto the championship at 12:30 and THEY WON! Proud Coach, (DS), and proud dad. Now they will spend the rest of the week enjoying Ocean City. This morning I played the piano at a funeral for the husband of a dear friend of mine. He had stomach cancer and had been told he only had 6 months. He ended up living a year and a half. It was a wonderful service. He was 89 and quite ornery and very much liked in the community and church. Tomorrow Rylee is coming to see Birdie. I expect sheāll have some time for me too. š DSIL will pick her up Monday morning. Iāve been totally off track and havenāt even been trying. I think I need a meeting. Iāve even been craving A. Whatās up with that? I know this too shall pass.
Amy: Congrats on hitting the 50ās! Iām so happy for you!
Jan: When do you head back up to the cabin?
Murphy: You always seem so productive! My suitcase is still out in my bedroom! š¤¦š¼āāļø
Carole: Itās so hard to stay AF especially when itās free. Yay for you!
Cindy: I hope youāre feeling better!
Cathy: It sounds like your GPS sent you on the sightseeing route!

The drive yesterday took hours through windy mountain roads going up one side of the mountain and down then up again and down over three ranges and we did get lost more than once. It was lovely but long in the car with too much sun and difficulty really talking to everyone. I bought wine on the way back home to relax and unwind. Today we have a 40th day post burial event for a deceased niece. I guess we will get ready and go around 10:30am and probably stand outside if there are no seats in the church. Hope to talk to family tonight.
