Welcome to Alcohol Free is What We Want To Be!We are glad you are here with us! If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you...or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgement that we have been there, done that. This board of great people will support you in your journey.
Some of us have been here for several years, others are new, but all are welcome and if you have visited before but didn't stay, there is still and always a place for you. Don't get overwhelmed, take your time, if something strikes you, respond. We are great at giving advice, whether you want it or not....you will get tough love, if necessary, but you will also find help. We practice positive self-talk and support, we encourage and gently hold each other accountable. We each have stories to tell, share and suggestions to help. We post different challenges during the year. Please join us if you think this is the group for you. You will be glad you did.

NEW CHALLENGE! Declaration of Independence from Alcohol June 1 - July 4
Freedom from alcohol? Does that make sense to you? Are you held hostage to it, use it to calm yourself, to forget what is going on, to get through the evening or even the day? What once was an enjoyable treat has become a daily necessity? Or are you wondering if you are drifting into some kind of undefined, gray area of casual dependency? Then it is time to take a stand and declare yourself independent. It isn't easy, if it was there would be no need for the support of this board. But together we stand and together we can fight it.
Think about the freedom from alcohol. It isn't just about the money, but it is about your health and well-being.
How is your Pursuit of Happiness being affected by alcohol?
The focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is be alcohol free from June 1 - July 4, one day at a time. Starting June 1 and ending July 4, we are challenging ourselves to make the right choices, and go alcohol free. Can you let yourself be the person you want to be? Can you reach out for help if need be? The rules are simple, no alcohol for the challenge (understanding for a very special occasion is given). Post your stats daily, it is an essential component to success. One misstep does not mean throw away the day, the night, the week. We are works in progress.
This is a challenge about control....you are in control of what goes in your mouth. Give yourself the gift of THINDEPENDENCE and be selfish if that is what is needed to take care of you!
If you slip, post to the board and find some understanding. If you slip and report you are AF, you are not hurting us, you are hurting yourself. Slips happen, pick yourself up and start again. There is no judgement, we are very supportive of each other.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment to the challenge is the way to go. For others, one day at a time is the way to go. No one will be cut from the challenge. And feel free to post to the board even if you choose not to commit to the challenge. But you might want to ask yourself why.
June 1 - June 7: What is your PREAMBLE (your intention for the challenge?)
June 8 - June 14: What are your BIll of RIghts as a Weight Watcher? (the right to eat fruit, the right to exercise, the right to feel good about yourself, etc.)
June 15 - June 21: What is your pursuit of Happiness?
June 22 - June 29: What does Freedom mean to you by working this life plan?
July 4: Get ready for your own fireworks to happen by declaring your Truths! Kick tyranny of alcohol and a few extra pounds aside as we celebrate THINDEPENDENCE.

After DS left yesterday I snapped and blanched some 3 quarts of green beans to freeze, washed and strained blackberries for juice for another batch of jelly. I ended up about a cup short, so will need to pick some more blackberries. The neighbor came over with floor samples, we placed our order and paid a deposit. She'll order the floor and will call to schedule installation when it arrives. After that I had a bit of couch time then went to the basement to get my second weight workout for the week. DH grilled a steak, we had Yukon Gold potatoes from the garden, grilled green beans, and salad for dinner. The grilled green beans were an experiment and may be my new favorite way to have fresh green beans. My gardening neighbor stopped by for a chat after dinner and we talked about our gardens. He's going to keep an eye on our garden while we were gone, pick what needs picking, and water if needed. After dinner I watched 2 episodes of GOT and stitched. I was in bed before midnight and slept well.
It's cloudy this morning and it looks like it may have rained a bit overnight. There's a chance of more rain today, fingers crossed.
Murphy- Thanks for getting us started. Yay for a nice day visiting the Amish store, lunch out, farmer's market. Hope church is wonderful.
Jan- Yay for a better day, lots of stuff done. We're leaving for Indiana on Wednesday, our family get together is on Saturday, we'll drive back Sunday. DS & DD are coming, should be fun.
Vicki- Yay for Jack playing well. The funeral service sounds nice. Enjoy having Rylee. Hope you get BOT soon and those A cravings go away.
Cindy- Hope it's a better day- hugs!
Cathy- Glad it was a lovely drive, even though you got lost and it was hot. Hope the burial event goes smoothly.

June 22: 194.4 June 29: 195.4 at home July 4: Celebrate! Final weigh in: Good morning girls. Going to be a beautiful last day of the month and I will use it wisely. I was also thinking where has 1/2 a year gone, the days meander but the months seem to fly. Also thinking this next 1/2 will all be filled with "noise" and I plan to tune most of it out and take care of my health, physical and mental. I think I let the doom and gloom of the week get under my skin this week and it sent me on a negative path. I am turning that around and getting back to just me, family and friends. Have set my goals for the month, keep up my steps, get my daily calories back under 1600, stay in my zone and learn to say No more. Have a few more errands to run today, Walmart for some things I couldn't find yesterday, Need to get kitty litter and clean out boxes before I go up north or I know they won't get done No other big plans. Sure there will be soccer on all day, maybe the Cubs will be broadcast since they are playing in Milwaukee. Dh mowed and edged yesterday so I need to get out and do some trimming back of the iris and other spent flowers. I checked my green beans this morning and need to pick some more. Hope you all have a great Sunday, get some outside time and can relax. I will check in later. Jan Murphy Have a lovely morning at church. I felt like a slug most of the week, so don't feel bad Cindy Hope you can check in today and feel better. Are you back to hot there? GG I think the cravings, for food or A are just a crazy roller coaster we are on, no rhyme or reason. For me I just have to be more aware, because it's really easy to just say what the heck, it won't matter in the long run. But really it does and it's hard to think about that. Yay for Jack having good games and now the family getting to enjoy some vacation time. Have fun with Riley, hope Birdie doesn't steal the show and you don't get any of the good hugs. New month, new resolve!! Let's do this and hit our next goals. Did you do a meeting? Cathy Sorry about the crazy drive and getting lost, glad you made it in one piece. Hope you can talk to family today. Amy Are you all done with the family Santa's now? What will you work on next? Are you and the kids all driving up in one car on Wednesday? I laugh when you always say you were in bed before midnight, I'm always in bed before midnight, like at 9 o'clock. You are a night owl. My Fitbit has been wacky, 18 floors yesterday? Umm, no, but I think sometimes if I do "dance" around and do toe touches and twists it thinks I'm doing stairs. Oh well. Posting together It's so great your garden is producing so much to make meals from. How did you do the green beans, in a grill basket? A little oil? Glad you are getting to stay up with family a bit longer than just the holiday. Glad the neighbor will watch the garden and yay for getting the floor ordered. Waving hi

Had a great service at church. The choir sand Salute to the Armed Forces which is a medley of the anthems of the 5 service branches. Any person who served in any branch was invited to come to the front during their anthem to be honored. It was very moving. I've been doing bills this afternoon. I pay my car and home insurance monthly and I realized that that payment went up $25 a month! I will definitely will be calling them in the morning! After realizing that, I had to take some things off my grocery list. I'll go pick up my Walmart order in the morning. Need to straighten up the bedroom this afternoon. Will do regular cleaning tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great day! Murphy

The memorial service yesterday was as nice as such an event can be. The family had ordered a buffet and the food was okay if not worth the points. I read and wrote a review then read half of another book but did not get it finished before sleeping...will do that today. We need to go to the ATM, money exchange, buy Frontline for Bella, I'm almost out of coffee beans so need to go to the roastery, should buy produce and might stop for a few groceries. I also have rat-check duty in the basement and will do that soon...top off toilets and run water through sinks to make sure rats don't come up through those pipes. Then...more reading.
