Welcome to Alcohol Free is What We Want To Be!We are glad you are here with us! If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you...or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgement that we have been there, done that. This board of great people will support you in your journey.
Some of us have been here for several years, others are new, but all are welcome and if you have visited before but didn't stay, there is still and always a place for you. Don't get overwhelmed, take your time, if something strikes you, respond. We are great at giving advice, whether you want it or not....you will get tough love, if necessary, but you will also find help. We practice positive self-talk and support, we encourage and gently hold each other accountable. We each have stories to tell, share and suggestions to help. We post different challenges during the year. Please join us if you think this is the group for you. You will be glad you did.

NEW CHALLENGE! Declaration of Independence from Alcohol June 1 - July 4
Freedom from alcohol? Does that make sense to you? Are you held hostage to it, use it to calm yourself, to forget what is going on, to get through the evening or even the day? What once was an enjoyable treat has become a daily necessity? Or are you wondering if you are drifting into some kind of undefined, gray area of casual dependency? Then it is time to take a stand and declare yourself independent. It isn't easy, if it was there would be no need for the support of this board. But together we stand and together we can fight it.
Think about the freedom from alcohol. It isn't just about the money, but it is about your health and well-being.
How is your Pursuit of Happiness being affected by alcohol?
The focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is be alcohol free from June 1 - July 4, one day at a time. Starting June 1 and ending July 4, we are challenging ourselves to make the right choices, and go alcohol free. Can you let yourself be the person you want to be? Can you reach out for help if need be? The rules are simple, no alcohol for the challenge (understanding for a very special occasion is given). Post your stats daily, it is an essential component to success. One misstep does not mean throw away the day, the night, the week. We are works in progress.
This is a challenge about control....you are in control of what goes in your mouth. Give yourself the gift of THINDEPENDENCE and be selfish if that is what is needed to take care of you!
If you slip, post to the board and find some understanding. If you slip and report you are AF, you are not hurting us, you are hurting yourself. Slips happen, pick yourself up and start again. There is no judgement, we are very supportive of each other.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment to the challenge is the way to go. For others, one day at a time is the way to go. No one will be cut from the challenge. And feel free to post to the board even if you choose not to commit to the challenge. But you might want to ask yourself why.
June 1 - June 7: What is your PREAMBLE (your intention for the challenge?)
June 8 - June 14: What are your BIll of RIghts as a Weight Watcher? (the right to eat fruit, the right to exercise, the right to feel good about yourself, etc.)
June 15 - June 21: What is your pursuit of Happiness?
June 22 - June 29: What does Freedom mean to you by working this life plan?
July 4: Get ready for your own fireworks to happen by declaring your Truths! Kick tyranny of alcohol and a few extra pounds aside as we celebrate THINDEPENDENCE.

Good morning all and happy Tuesday! I slept well but woke up a bit early. Scout is snoring on the couch beside me. I go to get my new tires this morning and then need to run to the bank but I don't have much else on the schedule so I may sneak in a nap later today! BBL Murphy

Today we ran errands. Tomorrow Rosalie and I will go to Tripoli to see Lina and play cards. Next Wednesday a birthday party for some friends-by a pool but not sure any will get into the pool. One day next week with Rosalie and perhaps Maureen will join us. And one day this or next week a trip to Beirut to chauffeur my husband where he wants to go - will take a book to read.
Rat-check proved to be a win for me - no new droppings and water levels topped up to prevent them returning via drain pipes and such. Yesterday's agenda was shifted to today.
Here's to an OP week month!

I'm up at home, so that's what I'm expecting but will have a good jump start on the month at the cabin by myself for the next week. Yesterday I tried to redo my Me360 scan, the scan worked, but would never load up the new measurements. Did it again, restarted the phone, deleted the app and redid it. If nothing works today I will try a new app that does the same thing. At least too a photo of my previous comparisons to go from there. Not sure what will be on the plan today. I got more plants at 75% off yesterday and they are on the back patio, getting a nice watering, but will see if we get any weather breaks to plant them. Otherwise I'll do it tomorrow morning before I go. We made a nice shrimp pasta with cherry tomatoes, feta and basil last night. Happy to report no reactions and I'm feeling good about being able to eat shrimp again. Sure don't know what happened that one time, but glad it was a fluke. Guess I better go get dressed and ready to go. I will check back later. Have a great day all. Jan

Water aerobics was fun yesterday, the water felt good, and there was a good turnout. DH went out to get a haircut while I was at water aerobics, so I just did a walking video in the basement since it was hot already outside. I did some puttering, gathering stuff for the trip, then had lunch and couch time. We had leftover pork chop, eggs, and toast for dinner, mainly b/c I wanted to try my new jelly. After dinner I watched a Hallmark movie and stitched. I was in bed by 11:30 and slept well.
It's cloudy this morning in the upper 70's. The HVAC guy is here for maintenance, hopefully he doesn't find anything to fix.
Cindy- Hope PT was better than Thursday.
Jan- WTG steps, PU, stretches, AP, blue dot, AF, going to WW meeting. GL with the challenges and discount plants. Sorry you've had trouble with Me360. Yay for being able to eat shrimp. DH still hasn't been to water aerobics, I will keep nagging. The grilled green beans were pretty easy. I spritzed them with olive oil, sprinkled with salt and DH just threw them on the grill with the steak. The book that kept me up was Nicholas Sparks' Two by Two. I'm taking a dozen jars of jelly, tomatoes and green beans to Indiana, hoping my sister and family will want them. I still have jars of jelly from last year. Sounds like Chris is coming to visit sometime in December.
Murphy- Thanks for getting us started. WTG for a productive day yesterday. Sorry you need new tires and didn't get any answers from the insurance company about the rate increase. Hope you get a nap. I need to type up my chiles rellenos casserole recipe. What I have is a tattered cut out from a Better Homes and Gardens magazine from 1991. I looked online for it without any luck.
Carole- Yay for cooler weather. WTG for a good time for your workout and doing okay foodwise.
Cathy- Yay for the scale going down, doing errands, rat check a win. Enjoy cards tomorrow.

I'm back. Was happily surprised at WI Down .2 which makes me down -1.8 for the challenge. At least moving the right direction. Came home and had breakfast, now will figure out my day, probably couch time knitting with the rain, but will get in my steps for sure. I figured out my me360. Finally had to go to setting and delete my account, not just reboot. Lost my compare data, but have a photo and I've written it down so starting fresh on July 2. A few measurements were up a tad, some down, but I think it's just a variation sometimes in where you put the scanner/phone. Still gives me data that I can follow. Trying to get body fat % down and lean mass up. We talked a bit about movement at the meeting, mostly off topic and giving ideas and food choices for the holiday. I am planning on making ribs at the cabin, a splurge for sis and I but it will be one day. Going to try them in the crockpot with the regular Coke and sauce. Also bringing some corn from here, bought Pop Chips for me and sis can have whatever else we have. Maybe I can get here to bring some watermelon or a fruit salad mix. Tonight I think DH is going to get steak from the butcher, I'll cook my green beans and some potatoes with it. No other big news from the midwest Enjoy your Tuesday! Jan Murphy Did you still have the original tires on your car or had you replaced them once already? They said mine were wearing on the insides, probably from a pot hole or something. Lucky if you could just buy 2, with AWD cars you often have to replace everything at the same time. Hope you can get your nap, you and Scout can be snoring on the couch together. Did you make your eggplant? Amy Glad you enjoyed aerobics. I picture DH trying to schedule all his upcoming appts at that time so he has a good reason not to join you Safe travels tomorrow if you don't get to check in before leaving. Will there be some boating adventures? Saw your memory pics on FB. Has Cory ever been out to visit Chris in Washington? How does DH keep the beans from falling through the grates on the grill, or were they the long beans? I would be a free housecleaning and gas for sure too. Sure your family will appreciate the jelly etc. Or they can always secretly regift Cathy Enjoy the days with friends. Guess I better get some moves on. Dh just left for the PO and the grocery so I can do a dance party....with no one watching

Got my 2 new tires. I went with the least expensive ones thinking that in another year or so, I will have saved enough to get 4 new tires. I'm sure these that I chose aren't good for long mileage distances. Anyway - I came home and napped a bit and then went to the bank and by the ice cream store! When I donated blood last week, they gave me a gift cart for "a pint for a pint" at Brewster's ice cream! I'll save it for July 4th when I cook a hamburger! No other plans for the day so I think I'll just enjoy being lazy! LOL Murphy

Stayed up late and woke early. Today I will be going to Tripoli with Rosalie to spend the afternoon with Lina. We will play cards, catch up on one another's news, and enjoy our time together. On the way home I will stop at a larger supermarket to buy cat food for Bella. Being back OP using the earliest WW 123 Success program and tracking diligently is working. I wlil not buy wine at the supermarket and keep the momentum going.
