Welcome to Alcohol Free is What We Want To Be!We are glad you are here with us! If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you...or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgement that we have been there, done that. This board of great people will support you in your journey.
Some of us have been here for several years, others are new, but all are welcome and if you have visited before but didn't stay, there is still and always a place for you. Don't get overwhelmed, take your time, if something strikes you, respond. We are great at giving advice, whether you want it or not....you will get tough love, if necessary, but you will also find help. We practice positive self-talk and support, we encourage and gently hold each other accountable. We each have stories to tell, share and suggestions to help. We post different challenges during the year. Please join us if you think this is the group for you. You will be glad you did.

NEW CHALLENGE! Declaration of Independence from Alcohol June 1 - July 4
Freedom from alcohol? Does that make sense to you? Are you held hostage to it, use it to calm yourself, to forget what is going on, to get through the evening or even the day? What once was an enjoyable treat has become a daily necessity? Or are you wondering if you are drifting into some kind of undefined, gray area of casual dependency? Then it is time to take a stand and declare yourself independent. It isn't easy, if it was there would be no need for the support of this board. But together we stand and together we can fight it.
Think about the freedom from alcohol. It isn't just about the money, but it is about your health and well-being.
How is your Pursuit of Happiness being affected by alcohol?
The focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is be alcohol free from June 1 - July 4, one day at a time. Starting June 1 and ending July 4, we are challenging ourselves to make the right choices, and go alcohol free. Can you let yourself be the person you want to be? Can you reach out for help if need be? The rules are simple, no alcohol for the challenge (understanding for a very special occasion is given). Post your stats daily, it is an essential component to success. One misstep does not mean throw away the day, the night, the week. We are works in progress.
This is a challenge about control....you are in control of what goes in your mouth. Give yourself the gift of THINDEPENDENCE and be selfish if that is what is needed to take care of you!
If you slip, post to the board and find some understanding. If you slip and report you are AF, you are not hurting us, you are hurting yourself. Slips happen, pick yourself up and start again. There is no judgement, we are very supportive of each other.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment to the challenge is the way to go. For others, one day at a time is the way to go. No one will be cut from the challenge. And feel free to post to the board even if you choose not to commit to the challenge. But you might want to ask yourself why.
June 1 - June 7: What is your PREAMBLE (your intention for the challenge?)
June 8 - June 14: What are your BIll of RIghts as a Weight Watcher? (the right to eat fruit, the right to exercise, the right to feel good about yourself, etc.)
June 15 - June 21: What is your pursuit of Happiness?
June 22 - June 29: What does Freedom mean to you by working this life plan?
July 4: Get ready for your own fireworks to happen by declaring your Truths! Kick tyranny of alcohol and a few extra pounds aside as we celebrate THINDEPENDENCE.

DH & I took the golf cart to the top of the hill to walk yesterday morning, since it was less humid and there was a nice breeze. When we got back DH mowed the yard while I edged, weeded, and puttered in the garden. I picked a bunch of green beans and a few tomatoes and strawberries. I also picked a couple of green peppers. I gave some of the green beans to the neighbor and will take the rest, a bunch of tomatoes, and the green peppers to my sister. The neighbor girl came over to get a key and say hello to the cats. I showered, had some couch time, then got busy gathering and packing. Cory came here after work to spend the night so we hopefully get an early start. We ordered food from Cluck -n- Mooh for dinner. We all went to bed fairly early.
I don't like getting up when it's still dark. Warm already at 77.
Jan- Woohoo for the scale being down for the challenge, yummy meals planned. There should be water fun again at my sister's, hoping to get a boat ride at some point. Cory has not been to visit Chris in WA. DH grilled the long beans.
Murphy- Yay for 2 new tires and free ice cream coupon.
Cathy- WTG scale down, not buying wine, being OP and tracking diligently.

If I stop at Walmart up there may see if they have any sale plants left. It's an addiction Going to get some more diet root beer, my 4th treat will be floats with lite ice cream. Have projects packed to work on, have my wreath to finish for the fair, books to read and my camera and fitbit are charged up! They do the show at the park across the street, his job is to keep the cats in at least until it's over, Good luck with that. Have to sort through the things I have for the flea market on Saturday. Hope to at least make enough $$ to pay for my spot and add a little to pay my $10 into the fair. Guess I better get moving. Will check in when I can. It's still overcast here this morning but supposed to clear up and be a nice day. Hoping sis will meet me at the cabin or at least come out later this evening, she can help sort the flea stuff. Hi girls. I think Iâm ready to be a WW again. I finished off the treats last night so I could start again today. đI was only up 1.2, but for the challenge I was up 3.6. But considering vacation and my totally overeating since I got back, thatâs not too bad! Honestly I think itâs my activity that saved me! I just got back from line dance. it was fun as usual! The instructors just donât understand why I like the beginner class. I like it because I donât have to think so hard and can just enjoy dancing! I had 5000 steps before I left! Rylee enjoyed Birdie and I think the feeling was mutual! She doesnât get nearly as much attention from me! I had gone to a friendâs yard sale last week and found Rylee 4-5 dresses and she loved them! Sheâs wearing them with shorts under them while going to daycare. Makes grandmaâs heart happy! The other kids are enjoying their time at Ocean City. They will be coming home Saturday. Then life gets back to normal for us. Next week the kids have Bible School, and the following week is ours. Iâm helping with scripture memory and the music this year. Itâs always so fun and goes by so quickly! No plans for the 4th. Itâs supposed to be hot with thunderstorms I think. Good day to read the books I bought at that same yard sale. 2 bags full of Amish books! Iâve already read 2 and working on the 3rd in the series! I forgot how I enjoy reading! Hope you all have a safe and happy 4th!

Hi All!
All went as scheduled for the nuclear stress test. I had been doing treadmilling at PT so didn't have any worries. After all was done I had a break so went to Target and didn't buy anything, back to see the cardiologist and she was thrilled with the results. All arteries are clear, heart muscles strong, etc. I was very happy to hear that.
I will admit that once home my knee ached miserably. It is doing okay now....Tylenol is my best friend.
While waiting, an older man, probably my age, came in and they were making sure he followed the "rules" and nope, he drank caffeine. I thought the technician was going to blow but she said she would talk to the doctor and since I was in the room when she made the call I heard the doctor basically say there was no purpose in taking the test and he could rescheduled. He was still there when I left after the second appointment.
No plans for tomorrow though I know the neighbors will take care of the fireworks. Friend/Girl has been hinting about coming over but DS is not feeling well at all, has not been able to keep anything down. They are suppose to be going to a wedding on Friday but she is being "difficult" and he just doesn't want to deal with it. We shall see.
Amy, not sure how far you were planning to travel today but thinking of you and family. Stay Safe!
Jan, enjoy your time at the cabin. Hope you sister is there. DS is still working with his friend. He continues to look but hasn't seen much. Our area is not good for jobs. His former boss got promoted up and moved to Louisiana. Word is that she is not doing well, aawww. I miss buying plants! My bird sunflower seeds have spread out and we have lots of sunflowers.
Murphy, glad it was an easy fix for your computer! Yay for new tires! Was the increase for homeowners insurance?
Carole, glad you had a good time golfing. My brother and sister in law golf lots. My DSIL has won money in amateur tournaments.
Cathy, hope you an absolutely wonderful day!
Vicki, you'll be back down in no time! Sounds like you have a busy month ahead of you! Glad Rylee loved the dresses and is having a great time with Birdie.
When I got home from the cardiologist I wanted a cookie...none in the house...and then I discovered a bag of gold fish crackers in the pantry....Dunkin Donuts pumpkin spice gold fish....omg, they are delicious. Satisfied the craving.
The fireworks have started, Ainsley is under the bed. Had something else to share but it has gone out of my mind. I never did take a nap once home so at this point I've been up since 5:00 pm Tuesday so about 29 hours. Unfortunately I did the same on Monday night. Not sure what is going on...thinking RX sleeping pill tonight since nothing is scheduled for tomorrow.
Wishing everyone a Happy Fourth!
Hugs, Cindy
