Happy New Year's Eve No fancy plans. When we were younger we went to parties that often ended with sad incidents. DH's best friend's wife had too much to drink and complained a lot about her mother-in-law etc. Then we went out to great restaurants close to home. Those have closed and the nearby choices are not as good as eating at home. We don't want to be on the roads with drunk drivers so we will stay home, have a nice dinner and stay up to welcome the new year. People in Fresno like to shoot guns and fireworks, legal and illegal, to bring in the new year. It sounds like a war zone if we open the door and the animals are afraid. It's good to have a quiet night at home.

Hi all, sorry I've been taking time offline over the holidays...We will stay home, have a nice fire, some yummy snacks, and just chill at home. My husband calls NYE and Valentines Day 'amateur night'.

No special plans for me either. Restaurants here are super expensive on New Year's Eve. I don't drink anyway and I hate the noise of the fireworks, so a night indoors for me tonight. I never do much New Year's Eve and I am rarely awake to usher in the new year, so altogether kind of a party pooper. I do look forward to a new year and all the possibilities a new start bring, and 2016 wasn't a particularly good one for me so i'm not unhappy to see it go although of course we never get that time back. I'm looking forward to getting started on the new Beck review and to make this the year I get back to my goal weight and stay there.

No special plans here either. We don't drive after dark (vision issues), so going out to have a big dinner or a party is not an option. We will probably concoct some kind of adult beverage from whatever there is in the liquor cabinet, but we do that most Saturday evenings anyway.
Audrey -- When we lived in California (both Southern and Northern) there were always news reports on New Year's Day about babies and small children asleep in their beds and wounded by the celebratory bullets. I never could understand why people could never think about those bullets falling back to earth.
My best New Years memory is the Pasadena Rose Parade. While my mother was alive, she would watch the parade from her home in Indianapolis, and I would watch the parade from wherever I was living at the time. I always knew that my mother and I were doing the same thing at the same time, and I would feel especially close to her across the distance. Even still today, although my mother has been gone over 15 years, when I watch the Rose Parade, I feel closer to her.

We went out as a family yesterday to a town close by. We visited and shopped at the very large Christmas shop and we all had fun as the crowds were tolerable. In the same town are two large restaurants that are German and Bavarian themed, known for their family style chicken dinners. I was employed for two years at the Bavarian restaurant right after high school and tips earned paid for my first two years of college. Anyway, we enjoyed our New Year's celebration. Tonight, we will grill as the temps are in the upper 30's; not too cold. We will stay in as the grands will enjoy some movies and the adults will have a cocktail or beer, depending on our mood.

We always stay home too; we don't like driving with the crazies on the road. We'll watch a movie or football and try to make it until the ball drops in Times Square. Since we're in the Central time zone that means it'll be 11 pm. Hope we can make that! We do have lots of fireworks in the neighborhood but they usually stop by midnight. It's drizzling rain today so I'm hoping that will put a damper on things.
Happy New Year to all of us!

Happy New Year's Eve,
We we went to Vegas last Tuesday-Thursday and visited with our daughter. Our other daughter went with us. It was nice to all be together.
Tonight we we are going out for a early Chinese dinner. We do this almost every year. We have no desire to attend a party. It's nice to be cozy at home ringing in the new year.
Its raining right now. 😀 Having groceries being delivered in about an hour. Love Vons/Safeway free delivery.
Its been a nice nice break from the remodeling. They are not coming back until Wednesday.

Had fun reading everyone's post.
Went out and had a nice lunch with friends today. I love diners! We will be home tonight and will have roast beef for dinner. My husband covers the police and spot news on the weekends so he could go out if something big broke. I'd rather he stay home safe and sound.
