Welcome to Alcohol Free is What We Want To Be!We are glad you are here with us! If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you...or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgement that we have been there, done that. This board of great people will support you in your journey.
Some of us have been here for several years, others are new, but all are welcome and if you have visited before but didn't stay, there is still and always a place for you. Don't get overwhelmed, take your time, if something strikes you, respond. We are great at giving advice, whether you want it or not....you will get tough love, if necessary, but you will also find help. We practice positive self-talk and support, we encourage and gently hold each other accountable. We each have stories to tell, share and suggestions to help. We post different challenges during the year. Please join us if you think this is the group for you. You will be glad you did.

Labor of Love NEW CHALLENGE July 5 through September 2
The word labor implies a specific task or effort, many times painful or arduous. A labor of love is doing something because you really want to, not because of any monetary reward you might get for it even though it involves hard work.
This challenge is all about a labor of love, reminding yourself to love yourself so it becomes your norm.
How often do we do something for someone else because it makes them happy and in turn makes us happy. But as the saying goes âhow can you love someone else if you canât love yourselfâ.
There are many ways we donât show ourselves love. We are harder on ourselves than on anyone else. We go over and over âwhy did I drink too muchâ and the ever popular "if I lost weight I would be so much happierâ. We are not showing ourselves love by overeating and over drinking, we are doing the opposite. To start, give yourself grace and tell yourself yesterday is done, tomorrow isnât here, so letâs deal with the present.
We worry about so many things, things we have no control over. Resilience, happiness and freedom comes from knowing what to care about and what to not let us get bogged down. Let go of things that do not work for you, help you, or encourage you. It is hard! You want to be a good person but be good to yourself first. Send out positivity but give yourself positivity.
We all have bad days, nothing goes right, nasty people out and about, stress levels are over the top and you have no control. This can be true in many ways but your control is to step away, love yourself.
Journal it, put it down on paper, and then let it go.
So each morning give yourself an affirmation. Here are some suggestions:
#1. I am worthy. #2. I am enough. #3. I am beautiful inside and out. #4. Even my âflawsâ have good and helpful aspects. #5. I love and approve of myself. #6. I am delighted with who I am. #7. I fully approve of who I am, even as I better myself. #8. I approve of myself and love myself completely. #9. I am happy in my own skin and in my own circumstances. #10. I am surrounded by love. #11. I am treasured for who I really am. #12. I am worthy of happiness and love. #13. I enjoy my own company as I get in touch with my true self. #14. I am at peace and happy when Iâm alone.
It may sound like Stuart Smiley but go with it!

DH & I drove to the Silver Comet trail in Dallas yesterday morning to walk. It was overcast and cool, mostly bike riders, a few walkers. Then we went to Costco. At first I didn't see the Fairlife shakes, so I picked up a case of Premier Protein, but then I found the Fairlife in and amongst the supplements. We kept the Premier Protein and picked up 3 of the Fairlife. The chocolate Premier Protein is okay, but I really prefer the Fairlife. We also got a bunch of other stuff at Costco besides the 2 things we went there for, including a white cake with a "cheesecake mousse" filling. We then went to Kroger's, found they had crab legs on sale, picked up a few more things. We stopped at the liquor store then headed home. I found a home for all the Costco stuff that needed to be in the fridge and freezer, had lunch, then some couch time. DH was putting away stuff in his closet, so I got up and joined him. I was thinking about taking a nap when Cory showed up, having been sprung early from work. The crab legs were good, I heated up some clam chowder to go with them, plus we had some smoked salmon dip on crackers. The cake was really good, we ate almost half of it and Cory is taking some home with him. After dinner we played Winky Dink and watched a few episodes of Sweet Tooth. I took a bath, read for a while, tossed and turned for a while when I went to bed but eventually slept well.
It rained more yesterday afternoon, evening and overnight. It's overcast at the moment, but more rain is coming.
Jan- WTG steps, PU, stretches, NJJ, AP, blue dot, AF, washing windows, doing chores. Yay for cool mornings, doing well with your fair entries, finding nice discounted things at the nursery. Hope you can get your platter back. That's cool about the Belushi brothers.
Cindy- WTG sending your gift and woohoo for nothing upcoming on your schedule after you cancel the appointment. GL with the laundry and general cleanup.

M-W Word of the Day
nonplus verb | nahn-PLUS What It Means To nonplus someone is to perplex them, or in other words, to cause them to be at a loss as to what to say, think, or do. // The stranger's odd question about the town where my grandfather was born nonplussed me.

Hi all. Will catch up later with stats etc. Sis just left as storm was rolling in, just starting to rain and thunder. Just had to let you know I couldn't believe the food auction last night. Went thinking I'd buy some cookies or ? for the donation, had my $20 ready. My cake went for $425 yep. Cookies, pie, things were going for over $500. Crazy. Guess these farmer's aren't as poor as they'd like you to think. Could have something to do with the drinks being served. Going to get off in case of weather. Check in when I can. Jan

Hi girls! The VBS program went well. Those kids were having a blast! Friday I was just tired. Hardly left the couch. DH didnât feel well, and neither of us felt like cooking. DH wanted our emergency frozen pizza, but we ended up with some frozen stuffed shells in spaghetti sauce with chicken cooked in the same pan. Anything is better than all the points for frozen pizza! Today DH gave me my B12 shot, which helped with my fatigue. I ended up going to DDâs to swim. Their 14 1/2 year oldEnglish lab had to go to the emergency vet today. Sheâs on meds and will see their own vet on Tuesday. It seems like itâs that time. đ
Jan: Congratulations on all your wins! Wow, thatâs quite an auction! You âmightâ have been able to buy a cookie with your $20!
Amy: I canât get over how brown everyoneâs grass is here. Is it like that at your place?
Cindy: Glad PT is DONE! Are you feeling better after your infusion? Iâm glad your teeth feel better too!

Hi All!
Woke up not feeling great, no rhyme or reason, but hoping a day of rest will resolve the whatever. So not much laundry was done or clean up. Went outside with DS to try to figure out how we are going to fix the broken screen and a big wasp nest had decided to take over the door...DS sprayed it (heavily) so we will check it out tomorrow. My worry is birds are going to come and nest on the porch, or other creatures. I'm thinking we might just board up the window while we find a place to make a screen window for it. It had heavy duty screening and I just need to access the damage. It looks like it is going to have to be totally replaced.
Took two days off from taping the knee and finally gave in and taped it today. Have no clue why it is working but it felt much better when I did it.
Amy, thanks for getting us going. I find it fun that you have a Dallas to drive to so you can walk at the Silver Comet. Sounds like a much better drive than I take. Part of the bridge is being taken down this weekend...have I mentioned I don't have any appointments this week...lol. I haven't tried the Fairlife drinks though I've seen them. Planning on a $$$ Costco visit in August. The cake from Costco is really good! Hope DH enjoyed his birthday dinner. Did Costco have any plants? Are you continuing to be happy with the floors? Happy dreams for tonight.
Jan, Congrats on your auctioned cake! WOW for $$$, When DH was working his company had a bake sale for charity...anything that didn't sell, the President came through and bought everything and donated to a local shelter. What was amazing was how much people would pay over and above the set price. I made a doughnut cake and nothing like your cake but it went for $100. Did the auction $$$ go to a charity? Did you get your platter back? Are there lots of summer people in the area? Keep enjoying your cabin time!
Vicki, loved the FB VBS photo! So glad the kids had a wonderful time! Sometimes the points for a frozen pizza are worth it, just for the "at least it is food and it is easy". Glad you had another choice. Glad DH was able to give you your B12 shot. I hope for the best for the old English Lab. I think the infusion helped. Very happy about my teeth, lol. That is the follow up appointment I get to cancel!
Hi Carole!
Hi Cathy! Did your DH get a fan for the gazebo? Were all errands accomplished? Hope you were able to talk with family today.
Started watching Lady in the Lake with Natalie Portman. It's on Apple. Read a cozy "story" today and started another one. Finished a Sudoku challenge. Looking forward to more sleep. We had take out pizza tonight so probably should skip WI in the AM. Already drinking extra water. F/G is sad...aka, invite me over....ummm, no.
Hugs to all, Cindy

Hello friends! Well Iâm glad thatâs over! (Deka!) it went ok, didnât do so well on the run part but thatâs ok. I think it took me 1:10. Iâm not sure when Iâll find out for sure. It was in Fort Wayne, IN. The drive there and back took foreverâso much traffic and construction. I kid you not, theyâve been working on this highway for at least 7 yearsâitâs on the way to and back from Tylerâs school. Next time I think Iâd stop at the dunes for the day and then drive the rest of the way home. I went with my Hyrox coach. I thought I might beat her but I didnât!
Amy, Alexis is dog sitting so I came into her room to spend some time with her kitty. I left the door just a bit open in case Bowie wanted to come in. Nope. Rowan left! He used to be afraid to leave her room.
Jan, congratulations on your wins! I hope you post your pictures, Iâd love to see them! Thatâs pretty wild about the Belushi brothers! The countdown is starting till DS comes!! I wonder if heâs waiting to ask gf the big question until he gets to your cottage?!
Cindy, so happy youâre done with PT! I canât believe that man! Gosh, I donât know why people are like that. Iâm also happy the f/g is not coming over!
Vicki, prayers for your grand dog. Does DD live far from you? Our pool is getting colder by the dayâour solar cover ripped to shreds so I havenât been swimming much, just floating.
Cathy, I hope you have electricity and water!

Seems I have not checked in for a few days...oops. We finally got water yesterday, did two loads of laundry, and had a shower in the evening so was able to climb clean into fresh sheets. The moon was BRIGHT and present through the bedroom windows keeping me from sleeping as soundly as I might otherwise have done.
Yesterday we went to Tripoli, purchased two metal fans for the gazebo in front and covered patio in back. Not sure when the electrician will be able to install them. We did not buy lights...that is a next step. Once the fan is in out in the back, will try to tidy up and perhaps find plants for the areas with dirt that are tidier looking than what is there now.
We have leftovers from lunch yesterday so doubt I will cook anything today.
I am thinking of all of you and hope you are staying cool and fresh while enjoying the summer.
