Welcome to Alcohol Free is What We Want To Be!We are glad you are here with us! If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you...or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgement that we have been there, done that. This board of great people will support you in your journey.
Some of us have been here for several years, others are new, but all are welcome and if you have visited before but didn't stay, there is still and always a place for you. Don't get overwhelmed, take your time, if something strikes you, respond. We are great at giving advice, whether you want it or not....you will get tough love, if necessary, but you will also find help. We practice positive self-talk and support, we encourage and gently hold each other accountable. We each have stories to tell, share and suggestions to help. We post different challenges during the year. Please join us if you think this is the group for you. You will be glad you did.

Labor of Love NEW CHALLENGE July 5 through September 2
The word labor implies a specific task or effort, many times painful or arduous. A labor of love is doing something because you really want to, not because of any monetary reward you might get for it even though it involves hard work.
This challenge is all about a labor of love, reminding yourself to love yourself so it becomes your norm.
How often do we do something for someone else because it makes them happy and in turn makes us happy. But as the saying goes “how can you love someone else if you can’t love yourself”.
There are many ways we don’t show ourselves love. We are harder on ourselves than on anyone else. We go over and over “why did I drink too much” and the ever popular "if I lost weight I would be so much happier”. We are not showing ourselves love by overeating and over drinking, we are doing the opposite. To start, give yourself grace and tell yourself yesterday is done, tomorrow isn’t here, so let’s deal with the present.
We worry about so many things, things we have no control over. Resilience, happiness and freedom comes from knowing what to care about and what to not let us get bogged down. Let go of things that do not work for you, help you, or encourage you. It is hard! You want to be a good person but be good to yourself first. Send out positivity but give yourself positivity.
We all have bad days, nothing goes right, nasty people out and about, stress levels are over the top and you have no control. This can be true in many ways but your control is to step away, love yourself.
Journal it, put it down on paper, and then let it go.
So each morning give yourself an affirmation. Here are some suggestions:
#1. I am worthy. #2. I am enough. #3. I am beautiful inside and out. #4. Even my “flaws” have good and helpful aspects. #5. I love and approve of myself. #6. I am delighted with who I am. #7. I fully approve of who I am, even as I better myself. #8. I approve of myself and love myself completely. #9. I am happy in my own skin and in my own circumstances. #10. I am surrounded by love. #11. I am treasured for who I really am. #12. I am worthy of happiness and love. #13. I enjoy my own company as I get in touch with my true self. #14. I am at peace and happy when I’m alone.
It may sound like Stuart Smiley but go with it!

The pool was still chilly yesterday morning but the class was fun. The flooring guy was there when I got home. The transition to the bathroom looks great and he replaced the broken board. I spent some time shopping on Amazon for a food mill. When the flooring guy left DH & I took the golf cart to the top of the hill to walk. There was a breeze for part of it, but it was really muggy. When we got back we got started mowing the yard. It was still a little wet from the rain the night before, but since more rain is forecast we needed to get it done before it got any taller. It was almost 2pm by the time we were done, I had lunch and couch time. I got a text from the neighbor asking if the flooring was okay and the other neighbor left some green peppers on our porch. We had Beyond burgers for dinner and I had an ice cream cone with CarbSmart chocolate peanut butter, which is very yummy. After dinner I finished GOT and watched a couple episodes of Bridgerton. I was in bed by midnight but tossed and turned and kept turning on the light to read more. I think I finally fell asleep around 4am.
It's cloudy again today with more rain forecast. It's already rained some overnight. My goal for the day is to put away the stuff that lives in our bedroom linen closet and maybe go through the clothes that I took out of my closet, mostly pants. I already found a pair of capris that now fit.
Carole- Glad your dad enjoyed the concert with you, DB, DSIL, etc. Woohoo for 7 days until FL!
Jan- WTG steps, PU, stretches, NJJ, blue dot, AF. Glad the airport pick up went well. Hope you slept better and GF does well on her test. We're getting 1/2 to an inch of rain every day.
Vicki- Sorry the plan to go to the movie changed. Enjoy visiting with your aunts. I'm sure your Mom would be pleased about taking the aunt to the memorial, I know my Mom would have been.
Cindy- Sorry about computer issues. I switched to One Launch when I had issues with Chrome. WTG kneeling and putting stuff away, sorry the knee wasn't happy afterwards. Sorry about DS's credit card fraud. We had the same issue with our Walmart credit card twice, ending up just cancelling it.

M-W Word of the Day
sanctimonious adjective | sank-tuh-MOH-nee-us What It Means Someone described as sanctimonious behaves as though they are morally superior to others. Language or behavior that suggests the same kind of moral superiority can also be described as sanctimonious. // While the subject matter was interesting, I found the presenter’s sanctimonious tone rather distracting.

September 2 Celebrate! Final weigh in: Good morning all. So there was some self medicating last night, guess I got it out of the way, kept thinking about if I would be AF when the kids came. GF took her test @ 8 and then we had a little celebration. Now to move on. I have NA beer to take to the cabin if I want it. After not drinking for long periods of time, the A sure wipes me out, crashed and slept 8+ hours. No big plans today, I may go snoop the quilt show at the senior center. It's always put on during the air show, guess something for the "girls" to do. I think there may be some vendors there and I like to look. Going to let the boys figure out dinner, probably something BBQ'd. Funny how little things can make you happy, like a giant pair of boy tennis shoes in the hallway, or a sweatshirt hanging off the chair I will be grateful for all the moments and be aware of enjoying them. That's one reason why I know AF will be best for the rest of the week. Now GF has to wait a few days for the results on her test. If she does well she'll keep her 4.0 for her first year of PA school. They are both so motivated, I know DS just wishes he was in school too and getting it done. Hope you all have a good day. We will get things organized to head north tomorrow. I need to contact the neighbors and see if they can feed the cats. Otherwise I'll ask the girl who house sat before. Nothing like late notice. Jan Amy Glad you got the mowing done before the rain. Sounds like a wet summer for you, is that normal? Yay for the floor getting done and the cake being gone. What will you have for Friday when Cory comes? I never tried the Carb Smart, I had some SF ice cream, Kemps, at the cabin. Yay for shopping the closet! Cindy Sorry about the credit fraud, it is getting so common, makes me nervous. I wonder about the Chrome and computer issue, if it has anything to do with that crazy cyber download that messed things up. I have not been getting certain texts or have to send them text message instead of thru I phone, when they are blue instead of green. I was worried at the airport as DS usually says they got on the plane or they are on the ground and I'd heard nothing all day. He showed me where he'd sent 3 texts but I hadn't gotten any of them. We checked all my settings, I never go change anything, tried to restart. Now this morning I just had him send me one as I got one from my sister finally and it showed up. Who knows. Hope your icing and tape help your knee feel better today. Glad the cupboard and floor got picked up. GG Have fun with your family. I think about what my mom would be thinking too. I know she'd be so tickled that Sis and I entered into the fair. She loved to go look at the exhibits, she was our 4-H leader as kids and we always had things entered. Make sure DH takes you to the movies next week, he owes you a date Waving hi to all.

Seems I have not made it to the boards the last few days. Was with friends yesterday and busy but still could have gone online in the evening. Oh well, such is life. Tomorrow I will go with Rosalie shopping in the afternoon. We will go to an outlet that is having 70% reduction on items in the store and might find something nice...we will see.
The water main had a big leak so is being repaired and they expect no water for four days. So glad my husband built big water reservoirs!
Need to get back on track and will try to NOT buy wine to bring home. At one point I had a deal with myself to have it while with friends and as many friends don't bring wine OR I have to drive home...it limits what I drink.

Hi all. Have had a good day. Kids went to the gym, walked the park and helped with dinner and shopping. I went to the quilt show at the senior center, planted my flowers, watered and got some cat care for the next couple of days. The plan is I will drive up in the car tomorrow when I get ready to go, pack food, clean laundry, etc. The kids will ride up with DH in the camper when they are all ready to go. That way I can get up, unpack, meet my cousin when she arrives, maybe vacuum some more. Looking forward to the time together with the rest of some family. Sure we'll have some fun on the lake, maybe a river float, games and laughs. Not sure what my eating and tracking will look like but will have an extra week before WI to get myself back in line Hope you all have a great weekend. Jan

Hi All!
Stayed up way too late watching "Bake Off: The Professionals" on Netflix. It was just watch one more until it was 3 AM! Then once up this morning, got hooked on some local news. Later I decided I needed to fill the bird feeders and once done, walking back to the house I noticed the window blind in the detached garage was broken in the middle. I decided against going into the garage in case somehow an animal got in. We don't have dogs or cats wandering about the 'hood....the one hold over from the HOA that people have continued. So I decided not to go into the garage until tomorrow when DS can come with me. I'm a chicken but actually more worried that I might trip and fall with the clutter.
Amy, I think the Photo of the day was meant for me....I certainly laughed! Loved the line "stuff that lives in our bedroom linen closet". I made a clear path in my closet but I have a pile of shoes I need to go through. Glad you found capris that fit! I'll need to look into One Launch. Haven't had any problems today other than I lost my post because I shut the site before sending.
Jan, definitely move on but a little celebration is nice. Glad the little things are making you happy, definitely understand. The fraud makes me nervous...AT&T contacted me that my info was on a dark web...oh thanks....check your credit reports, etc. Weird about your texts. Hope it straightens itself out. Technology is getting beyond me. Did the quilt show inspire you? Glad you were able to get cat coverage! Safe travels and enjoy your family time! Enjoy!
Cathy, enjoy your shopping with Rosalie. Hope you find some great bargains. Glad DH built big water reservoirs. I keep jugs of water but somehow they seem to go to car projects. We take so much for credit. How did it go with the wine?
Hi Carole! Hi Vicki! Hi Liz! Hi Murphy!
Need to do some clean up and make a grocery list for tomorrow. Don't need a lot, really more basics. I need to clean out the fridge also. I read Reese's Halloween candy is going to be available very soon! I still have some from last year in the freezer! I guess it is a comfort in case I need it, at least that is what I tell myself.
Hugs, Cindy

No wine in the house will mean no drinking wine in the house, right? So, when I go out with Rosalie today, will not stop for wine on the way home. If I stick to that and follow through tracking and eating OP then the scale should start moving in the right direction again. Once we get water again, I will start walking again and take showers afterward. Perhaps even do some weight training in the basement. We will see...first they need to fix the water main to the village...then...we will see.
