It's the day after Thanksgiving with a little over 4 weeks until the Christmas, 5 weeks until the new year! It's tempting to just give up and say we'll start over in 2024. But why start the year with extra holiday pounds to lose? Let's finish out the year strong and keep up the exercise and healthy eating. Which also is a great way to deal with the holiday stress. That doesn't mean we can't indulge in the special foods of the season, just remember to also enjoy friendship and camaraderie and non-food festivities around us!
WELCOME EVERYONE, anytime, and yes you can walk/jog/run or combo, cycle, spin, swim, aerobic classes, elliptical machine, yoga, Pilates, strength train and core work too!
Each week you set and post your own attainable mileage/minutes goal and strive to achieve it. Saturday through Friday is our fitness week with Saturday morning weigh-in (WI). WIs are encouraged but optional. There is no judgement here. - Join in on the August water-exercise challenge if you want to, but no pressure if you want to do something else.
This challenge runs November 24 through January 2, 2024. Good morning! Happy belated Thanksgiving to all!
Arg, I had typed up a long post detailing the past two days events, got distracted a moment, came back and hit refresh not realizing I hadn't save yet, and lost the whole post! It's been a stressful couple of days. To summarize, I ended up having to take Jeremy to the ER Wednesday night for severe upper abdominal pain. Turns out his gallbladder was full of gallstones, two the size of golf balls! So Thursday morning he had surgery to remove his gallbladder. The surgery went well, they were able to remove the gallbladder laparoscopically but because of the size of two of the gallstones they had to make a larger than average incision. So instead of coming home last night, he's coming home today. Kristina, his wife is back now from Pennsylvania (she went to visit family since Jer was working on Thanksgiving and we were doing family celebration friday AND at the time she left to drive to PA, Jeremy was feeling fine) so she'll be picking him up. Everyone seems to still want to do our family turkey day meal today (I wanted to wait until tomorrow, Jer's not even released yet from the hospital and I'm SO tired), but everyone is determined for today. I was shuffling between the hospital to check on/visit Jeremy, and home to check on/care for Susan who's broken legs are still a thing and she needs care. Who'd have thought Susan's legs could get back burned for something more pressing?! This is where my age catches up to me -going 24 hours with minimal sleep takes me way longer to recover from then it did back in my college days, lol!
Is this challenge okay? I am determined to not gain weight between now and new year's and keep up with exercise! Although I've met my first check -I didn't exercise wednesday, thursday or today. But I will tomorrow, maybe try a spinning class again. Plus Wednesday I intentionally didn't exercise because I was signed up for a turkey trot yesterday -which of course I missed. But I'll get on track and hopefully there won't be any health mishaps between now and new year's. Although Susan will be going in for surgery to replace her ACL next month, but that's scheduled surgery.

I have to express what I'm thankful for and that's that all my kids now live in the area and when there was an emergency, there was someone to call for help. This time it was me but Tim&Julie helped out with taking care of Jer's cats and picking up the turkey and taking it back to their house, which originally Jeremy was going to smoke on his smoker/bbq and have the family meal at his and Kristina's home.
The staff at Crouse Hospital and their ER were so kind and thoughtful during this whole ordeal, I can't thank them enough!

Good morning! Well, I overslept, for me, but it was enough to miss the spinning class at the gym this morning. But I have a treadmill, so I can use that. And I have hand weights and can still just GO to the gym, so there is that, lol! I guess I just want one morning this week where I don't have to BE somewhere!
Jeremy is home and recovering from his surgery. He's doing well and Kristina is seriously spoiling him, lol! I think they're both enjoying that!
Amy, I hate hearing you say you feel fat and horrible ... although I know how you feel! Did you have a nice Thanksgiving?
Waving Hi! to Mo and Brenda!

Good morning! Finally! A day I don't have to be anywhere! Susan tentatively has only 1 more week with her right foot in a boot then hopefully she'll be able to put weight on it again. She'll still need the left ACL replacement surgery but having at least one good leg will be great progress!

Good morning! Rats! I overslept this morning and didn't get to the gym. But I'm driving Susan to her PT appointment this morning so hopefully can go lift weights at the gym then.

Yay! I made it to the gym and did arm weights while Susan was in PT. I didn't have time for rowing because I had to make a quick stop at the grocery store. But arm weights are a good start.
Amy, your snow it coming our way. It was in the 40s when I first woke, but it's dropped to the 30s and is still dropping a lot. We might get lucky though, it's lake effect snow and isn't SUPPOSED to drop south into where I live (southwest Syracuse) -but anything can happen with lake effect snow.
Amy, I hope the call with social security goes well!

Good morning! I made it to the gym this morning, yay! It was crowded for before 6:00am on a Tuesday! I guess people are worried about snow later today. It's purely lake effect snow which means we could get a dusting - 1 inch or we could get buried!
I just did leg weights and 15 minutes of rowing. But I'll walk on my TM as well today.
