Good Wednesday morning positive peeps! Happy October! The heatwave this week is not going to be feeling like fall here yet, but we're not too bad in the mountains. Fire acted up on our side this week. It was 83% contained, dropped down to 76% yesterday and it's 79% this morning. So hopefully that's progress. Part of Big Bear is on warning to evacuate but not my area yet, knock on wood.
October Goals: -Joined a 90 day stepper challenge with some friends, a reboot of one that just finished, using our little steppers or anything really but getting in minimum of 30 min a day. -Cut out the vending snacks (that's a challenge, but day one was good!) -Add in 2 days a week of strength/resistance exercises. -Keep a joy/gratitude journal, listing at least 3 positive/inspiring things a day.

Nat - Thanks for getting October started, LOL! Stay safe from those wildfires.... I'm definitely in for the strength training challenge. My other definite goal for October is to improve my sleep habits. I've been barely getting 5-6 hours sleep and it is not working for me! I am constitutionally a morning person but I have lately been getting to bed at 1:30 am and then dragging the next morning. So, I'm going to try a low dose of melatonin around 11pm, get clothes ready & update the whiteboard for next day's events, etc. And definitely no watching any political stuff late at night!! My third goal is to declutter or organize something every day, for at least 15 minutes (hopefully more!).
Yesterday I DID: --Silver Sneakers Circuit (alternates cardio and strength) for 45 min. --update budget for October --walked at the Old Golf Course park late afternoon, perfect weather!
Yes i CAN: --stay positive and focused --get outside for fresh air --wind down early!

Happy Friday morning oh positive ones! Thanks Carol, we're hanging in here and they seem to be confident regarding the fire. Still at 79% though and hot weather with little wind. So fingers crossed. But they did take parts of our Big Bear area off the warning list, so that's good news. I think tomorrow it will be a month since starting, yikes! I'm thinking about those in NC though, can't imagine living through that nightmare. LOL on not watching political stuff late at night. I will tell you, I have definitely been guilty of that since the summer Also brings on a mixture of excitement and anxiety. Yay for you on getting the strength training in. Waves to all! Yes I DID: Log my food, keep it in range. Get my stepper challenge in. My step count has been in the higher range since putting the desk elliptical next to my desk and peddling more often. Write in my gratitude journal. Vending supplies.....that's another story LOL Yes I CAN: -Be mindful of my eating choices -stepper, elliptical, some weights -log it all and keep it in range. Yay for mindfulness and gratitude!
Yesterday I DID: --enjoy Tap class, starting a Halloween themed routine. Nice people in the class, I look forward to it every week. --have a productive cello lesson... & teacher will be off next week, so I have 2 weeks to practice, LOL. --get to bed earlier and actually got almost 7 hours sleep!! Feeling pretty good today
Yes I CAN: --do a little decluttering and let it be "enough" --stay positive, not get into a funky mood --get out for some fresh air !! beautiful day, 65Β° and sunny.

Good Tuesday morning, October 8th, positive peeps π¦π₯π!
It is feeling more like autumn now, in the 50s-60s, into the 40s at night. I'm waiting for a call back from furnace guy, who needs to check on Old House, as tenant says furnace didn't turn on as expected. When the plumbers put in the new hot water heater a couple months ago, it may have affected the furnace/heating system. Maybe (I hope) we just need to reset something. Other than that, it's a beautiful, cool, sunny, breezy day.
Yes I DID: --cello choir, yay, another new person joined! --grocery run & farm stand, more fresh corn and some Bartlett pears, yum! --neighborhood walk, just 2.5 miles but at least it didn't rain!
Yes I CAN: --stay positive --practice some music --wind down earlier!

Good Tuesday afternoon positive peeps! Fingers crossed Carol on it just being a reset for your furnace and nothing big. Good to hear you are still enjoying the cello and tap classes. Keeps you active and socializing which are both important!
Watching the Florida news, those poor people bracing for another bigger one? Extremely scary. Our fire is at 87% now. What a challenge that has been on our side. But all evacuations are pretty much gone, only one small area in warning phase. Thankfully they opened that road back up for us to go down.

Yes I CAN: Keep out of the vending (5 yay, 3 nay so far this month) Keep my calories with in range (batting 1000 there) Get my stepper challenge in daily and weights in at least 3x weekly (so far so good)

Called furnace guy again & left message. Still waiting for callback. Another cool autumn day, but spritzing on and off. Lawn guys came early, got it mowed. (And not complaining! We have just a spritz, not a tropical storm)
Nat, glad your area is doing OK with heat of all kinds. Sending protective vibes your way β¨
Yesterday I DID: --not get out for a walk but did some strength training (I'm aiming for twice a week, for now) --enjoy guitar class (there are only 2 of us, it's really fun!) --some paper decluttering, filing, etc.
Yes I CAN: --continue decluttering paper and work on piles of clothes etc --get outside, even if just 15 minutes.... --wind down earlier!!

Good Friday noon, positive peepsπ₯π₯πΏπ!
Furnace guy finally called me back this a.m...but in the meantime, tenant's son stopped by and was able to relight the pilot light, and it turned out to be all it needed....yay!
Yesterday I DID: --get a good chiropractic adjustment. He unkinked my neck and my hand stiffness/pain has greatly improved. Definitely a postural thing, which is something I can work on as well, especially re: the musical instruments & mobile devices. Good posture helps everything! --lots of decluttering of office/spare room area. Mostly paper etc. Still more to go but at least the piles are not as high and not collapsing & sliding off the desk now, LOL! --grocery run, trying to eat more fresh fruits & veg instead of empty carbs.
Yes I CAN: --get outside for a walk, haven't been out walking since Monday...missing it! --work on clothes piles --really commit to winding down earlier. Yes.I.CAN!

Yesterday I DID: --enjoy Tap class in the morning --grocery run... enjoyed some Coho salmon and fresh corn for dinner --get out for a long walk in the Big Woods, saw some deer, well camouflaged amid the saplings & bronze foliage
Yes I CAN: --continue working on clothes piles --get outside for a walk again, another cool sunny day --wind down early again. It really makes a difference!

Good Saturday morning/afternoon positive peeps! Yay Carol, I'm glad the furnace thing was an easy fix and finally done. Good that the chiro was able to unkink your neck also. That's irritating. I went through some neck kinked issues awhile back but thankfully they have worked themselves out. I believe sleeping wrong and working some long days was the root cause.
I'm going to work on not disappearing more than a day or two at a time. It's a work in progress! Waves to all out there.
Yes I CAN: Track it all today (had my first slip with no tracking yesterday for this month, oops) Get my stepper and steps in today. Walk outside for some fresh air. Pick up the weights today!

Nat, yay for working on tracking, even with occasional slips it really helps to make the effort. I'm sometimes amazed that "What? I didn't track ANYTHING yesterday?? What the heck did I eat for lunch...?"
I feel like I'm at least making some progress on a daily habit of decluttering...I just have to work on not thinking it "doesn't make any difference....." etc. But my biggest challenge lately seems to be the sleep deficit. I really have trouble making myself start winding down at a reasonable time. Definitely a mindset issue. So....that's my focus for this week. I'll try an affirmation: "It's worth it to wind down earlier. I feel so much better when I get enough sleep!"
Yes I DID: --strength training, 15 min. --declutter more of my desk mess...can almost see the surface on 1/2 --walk at sunset (too early now!) & enjoy Halloween decorations around the neighborhood
Yes I CAN: --get more decluttering done on this rainy day --get some indoor exercise --wind down earlier!!

Yes I DID: --enjoy cello choir on a cold rainy morning --neighborhood walk, once the rain stopped --grocery run and tried lightening up a zucchini casserole from an old church cookbook. I added some ground chicken, used heart healthy cream soup, light sour cream, subbed olive oil for part of the butter, no salt and even made my own croutons instead of using stovetop stuffing. It was pretty good.
Yes I CAN: --get out for an organized walk in a nearby park this morning, if it's not too wet from all the rain --declutter --wind down much earlier....this is still a challenge for me

Yesterday afternoon we had 3 deer wander into our backyard for awhile, a mama and 2 adolescents. We're in suburbia, but close to farmland and a creek, so there's always something wandering through looking for a quiet spot to graze or drink or rest.
Yesterday I DID: --have my eyes checked...OK, no big changes to anything --get some steps walking around the parking lot while I waited for my ride, despite some drizzle! --enjoy a productive virtual board meeting of the computer club
Yes I CAN: --declutter --get outside --wind down earlier!

Happy Weekend, positive peeps π₯π₯π¦πΏ !
Good news/bad news, I had to miss a brunch gathering with some retiree pals on Tuesday because I went out on a hike instead...and now 3 of the brunchers have tested positive for Covid....so, fingers crossed, I avoided it. But it seems to be on the rise, so I'm thinking I need to be careful about gatherings. Wondering about church, 'though I do sit in an area that is less crowded, and even though we got booster vac. recently, maybe I should mask up. And then there's grocery shopping. And tonight's b'day dinner event. Sigh...
Yesterday I DID: --enjoy a.m. Tap class, working on our Halloween theme, and a good cello lesson in the afternoon --get out for a long neighborhood walk, saw 3 deer in someone else's yard a couple blocks away, cavorting and munching grass. Wondered if they were the same 3 as in our yard a couple days ago. --have good sleep 1 out of the last 3 nights. Still working on it. It's cooler at night, which should help some
Yes I CAN: --declutter just 15' --use moderation at friend's b'day celebration at a diner tonight. And use lots of hand gel and no hugs! --stay upbeat and supportive, not go down any rabbit holes online, LOL!
