Checking in late today. I spent the afternoon cleaning my kitchen and it felt good to do the stuff I don't usually do, like wash the canisters and backsplashes, etc. Don't be jealous of my exciting New Year's Eve Hope everyone has a fun and safe night and see you next year!

@ ksbruns, it was a late game! And probably one of the most exciting games of the bowl season. Question, a lot of your fans are mad at Peppers, they thought he faked his injury,, what say you?

Good morning ladies. Kathy - I really found the story funny because Charlie wasn't even accepted for obedience training, much less daycare. Charlie and I went for a little ride to get propane for the grill so I don't run out during dinner tonight. I grill year round unless there is more than 6" snow on the ground. :-) I'm going into 2017 determined to remain at goal, if not a bit lower, and step up the weights as much as my body will allow. Susi...Leia had to take puppy class twice before she passed, LOL. By the time she repeated, she was twice the size of everyone in the class, but she was a 🌟

<OMG> it's afternoon already... and TOOTS is napping. He didn't sleep well - he has a stubborn cough that is very slowly improving and was up at 4:30 AM. As was I. I made the strategic error of trying to go back to sleep; in future I will have a couple of books next to my recliner and just use the time for prayer/reflection/meditation.
The band got a surprise at last evening's gig - the already-DOUBLE gig tonight now has the add-on of a video session at 6 PM (then 1st show at 7 and 2nd at 9:30). Playing the charts THREE TIMES? Someone doesn't understand that brass players' lips get worn out after all that pounding, that it's not just "flip the switch and turn it on/off", and that the "BIG show" at 9:30 will have musicians with very tired chops. <meh>.
Our 8:30 AM WW meeting was surprisingly well-attended (note to self: get there EARLY next week). I'm down 1# - good news, heading into tomorrow's N*Y*Day party and then our season-ENDER next Saturday. I'm not going to the gig and we're having our main meal around 2 PM (roast chicken, carrots, mashed potato - simple food that will "hold" Toots until the food they've been promised). Tonight I'll indulge in shrimp.
Once he heads out I've got some paper-sorting on my agenda, and a final checkbook balance for 2016. And I'll spend my evening with Arnie the Macaw, just chillin' and reflecting on the year past and the year to come. It suits. OMG MJ, my lip is swelling up in sympathy for DH! No, they definitely don't get it. CONGRATS on your outstanding holiday.

Good Morning All. Beautiful but cold day here. Just got back from a walk downtown to my new favorite store where they were having a today only sale.
Great NSV! It a boutique type store and I got a shirt there in a "regular" size this summer. The price was great and I loved it so much I planned to get other colors and patterns. With 20% off today was the day. Well low and behold they only had one in my size and the others were all in a size that was too big...and a size that probably would not have fit in the past. I can't remember the last time I couldn't buy things because they were too big! Yay WW!
I also don't make resolutions. I had some ups and serious downs in 2016 but I am looking forward to 2017. With goal so close that I can taste it (of course there is a food reference there) I am more than excited. There is plenty of time to get there but it feels good to have it in view.
Humor is the only way to get through life. Laughter is medicine to me.
I am sure I will be asleep before the ball drops tonight so I say thanks friends and Happy New Year! Beth, congrats! There is nothing like clothes being too big to really get the message. I know you'll be at goal in 2017.

Linda, I'll have to see what DS thinks...I'm not that involved. I grew up (in the South) with college football as part of my life, and I know that Brady loves that I *know the game* but I get pretty tired at the majority of the players and their behavior, so *no telling*. I thought FSU way outplayed Michigan, but they finally started playing well and it did get exciting. Brady is still in Paris and watched the game this morning...I got a text, "It's never dull, is it?" when he finished. We were all on strict *no texting* instructions so he wouldn't know anything...I kept wanting to write and say, Don't Watch!

Brady covered quite a few athletes from the South Side of Chicago when he was covering Michigan basketball. I know I can't quite imagine what their lives have been like.

Heard from DS who is absolutely drinking the kool-aid that Peppers was injured, LOL, he's such a romantic. I think college football is just a big mess that if someone thinks they have to save themselves, I get it. I was on the bandwagon of keeping it *non-professional* for a long time, but basically don't know what I think anymore.

I don't feel they should be given thousands, but a monthly stipend might be in order since they can't work BUT they are also given scholarships, room, board, books, medical and dental

But, most of them have nothing on the table but a chance at the pros for their future, they have spent their whole lives with that as their only option; that's one of the things I think needs to change.

I did stay up to the end of the Orange Bowl last night, no joy for doordie50 or amy , but quite a game. Here's a tip of the hat to lmenglish ! I'm pretty disappointed in myself. When I think we're going to lose, I have to step away from my teams. I'm such a fair weather fan.
