Hi Phyl, I checked out the b/blanket pattern that you are working on. I really like it and I made a copy and might give t a try. Are you using the colors in the pattern? the grey, pink & white are very popular now. Thanks for sharing.

I looked up Phyl's pattern also. It is very pretty but it's one of those things I'd put on my list for the future sometime.I already have too many things going on.
Meg, sorry to hear the undies you got for Janet were too large.. Is she losing weight or is it a maufacturing glitch?
I'm so groggy and sleepy today. It's hot plus I had increased my meds for the first time last night. I do want to make some mashed potatoes and fried cabbage though. Dh will cook his pork chops to go with those things. I should have taken a nap earlier
I did work on the undies for the cabbage patch doll.I'll finish those today at least and maybe start the last doll blanket. Like CJ, I'm not very motivated right now. I'm glad I got youngest dgd's crocheted bday things and oldest dgd's baby things made or I'd have to be scrambling now. DGD will have the baby any day now.

Ginny, I really need to make notes when I read the messages. I forgot you asked about why I was in Germany. My son was in the Army and His wife and son were there with him and they were expecting baby#2. We were scheduled to leave on Sept 11th but of course we couldn't leave that day because it was in 2001, I had worked the evening before and we decided when I should get up in the morning so that we could tie up loose ends before heading to the airport. He came to the bedroom and asked me what time I was going to get up and I said we discussed that so he then said well WE're not going to be leaving today. I could tell he was shook because all he said was come up and look at the tv when I asked qhy we wouldn't be leaving. There was a tv right there in the bedroom. Anyway we got to leave the next week. Luckily I had plenty of time off so we got there and were there when dgd was born. In fact I was there for her birth. Ohter than that we didn't do too much but visit and play with the dgs who was two and we did go to Frankfort zoo, the town Martin Luther was from...Worms I think. And we saw a lot of castles and cathedrals and of course the German walmart. Took rides on the German trollies.Would have liked to see more but I wanted to be with ds and dear grandchildren more.We didn't get to see them again for 16 months.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today It sounds like we are all feeling the heat, I know I don't feel like doing much. I've been reading too and doing a few things around the house. I had one of the peaches I bought a few days ago and it was pretty good. I'm going to try another one that I bought at a different place and see how it is. I want to make a small jar of peach preserves with a few of these. I just make it and put it in the refridgerator so that I don't have to do a water bath with it - then I just eat it within a week. I did that with strawberries this year and it worked out well. Years ago I used to make large batches of peach preserves every year and also several peach pies. I miss the pie, but not all the work of making preserves Have a great day!

Good evening and Happy Sunday! Been a very busy weekend....and I am glad to be home and not running around any more.
CJ- glad that you found some peaches, and lets hope that these are good! Love Amish farmers markets, they usually have the best produce. I agree with you, sometimes you have to clear out all the crafts you have out- so they do not become reminders of what you have not accomplished. My problem is that I mist place pieces of the craft when I put it away like that, and then waste time putting everything back together. You are probably more organized than I am and do not have that problem!
Meg, how was your time with Janet? Indeed, that is a shame about the underwear, Hopefully another resident will be able to use them. Most facilities are more than happy to accept good donations like that. I will continue to pray for strength and energy for you, with the hope that you are able to do what you want to do soon.
Ruth, I think most everyone (except the real neat freaks) have dysfunctional linen closets. Mine is reasonably horrific right now and really needs straightening out. THe problem is its a tiny closet- better than none but still tiny. Think we all need our "me time". It's a joy to be loved and wanted- but the blessing of a few minutes to ourselves is nice, needed sometimes also.
It's been a crazy busy weekend for me, and I am tired. I have gotten some embroidery done, a little bit of clothing alteration and actually some quilting done. Mostly stolen moments.
THink this Tuesday I will be heading to the farmers market and getting some pickling cucumbers. Dd and I have made a small tradition of making bread and butter pickles, we have a good recipe and they are easy to make. As the weather is supposed to be not too hot, this looks like the perfect week to do that.
Take care Ginny

Hey CJ- our posts crossed paths. NIce plan on making the peach preserves, which do come out SO well and taste great! The only reason I am attempting the pickles this week is that the weather is supposed to be cooler and from my MIL we inherited a small hot water bath. Big enough for only 4 pints. It will not heat up the house much.
Ruth, thanks for the story about why you were in Germany. It's a lovely country....what an honor that you were able to visit there. Glad you are back here though and able to see your family here. Think you are right Martin Luther was from Worms. Ginny

Ginny, your tradition of making b&b pickles with your daughter reminds me of one time my aunt came up to visit and we made those. My mother never canned. These pickles were so easy to make and tasted so good we didn't use a water bath though. We just sterilized the jars and lids and put the lids on while the pickles were still hot and I think all of them sealed. B&b pickles are still my favorite because of the memories. My father had three "full" sisters and I was especially close to Aunt Esther and Aunt Margaret. Back in 2001 (before going to Germany) I went on a bus from here to visit Aunt Esther..now the trip on the bus was not a great experience but being with my aunt was something I'll always treasure in my heart. She was in ICU when I arrived and I got to spend her last days with her and along with her daughter and a couple other cousins and some of her great grandchildren and two great grandboys I was there when she passed.
So I'll bbl to respond to other posts but right now have to go

Hello Ruth, cj, Ginny & Phyl.
Everyone is gone this afternoon. but I decided to stay home where it is cool. DS & Devin have gone to the state fair with friends. I am sure Devin will be tired when he gets home. He has to get up early tomorrow as he will go to Vacation Bible School from 8 - 12 .
I am being very lazy today and I haven't done much of anything. When I finish here I will probably read. I have managed to get through several books in the past week. I did start an audio book and then got interested in something else. The audio book is by Danielle Steel and I think I read it years so I am not sure whether I will finish it or not. If I listen to the audio book I will get some crafting done.
Ruth, I lived in Germany for 4 years. We loved it there. I was in my late 20s and we had a lot of fun. I worked at the base nursery on base and I loved working there. That was wonderful that you were able to go over when your grand child was born. I don't know whether the undies will fit or not but I sent them back with her last night. I think I may have a UTI so I will have to stop at the lab tomorrow morning and have a test done. I have a standing order at the lab so I can go any time,
cj, I only made jam one time and that was when I lived in Germany and my German land lady had a lot of rhubarb and I made rhubarb marmalade and it was very good but I have never attempted to make jam again. My Mother made a lot of jam. I am glad you are finding some good summer fruit to enjoy. We have been enjoying, water melon, cantaloupe, peaches & nectarines.
Hi to Ginny & Phyl.
Have a good evening.

Ginny sorry I missed your post. I told Janet's care provider to give the panties to someone else if they don't fit. I bought a packet for myself and they fit fine and we both wear the same size. I have Pro Boards listed on my favorites. Today when I wanted to sign on my favorite list was all gone. So I tried putting PBs in search and signing in that way. I signed in with my name and password. I tried everything and they kept asking me to prove I wasn't s robot. I did that several times and gave up. When I went back later I was able to bring up my list of favorites. My eye sight is not great today mostly because my glasses don't sit well and I need new glasses but I can't get new ones until after my cataract surgery. Thank you for your prayers. Hope your BB pickles turn out well.
