Yesterday was a very busy day and one filled with deep concern but as it turned out all was good and I am now the proud great grandma of a new beautiful 5# baby girl. That makes three great grands living here on earth...the new dggd and the two dggs who are now 9 months and 10 months old.DGD, like her mother, my dd, had some bleeding problems afterward but they gave her medication and it took care of it.I thank my dear friend for keeping all in prayer

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today
Ginny - I'm glad you had some time to yourself today and also got to work on some quilting.
The current machine I have is a low end Brother (CS6000i), and doesn't have embroidery on it, just a basic sewing machine. I like it. The new one that I'll get one does straight line stitching, so it's just one stitch but it does have 4 different levels to raise and lower the feed dogs and comes with several feet. So I'm looking forward to trying free motion quilting on it. I ordered it at my local quilt shop and I'm happy with the purchase there. I think it's important to support the local shops so we don't lose them all.
Ruth - Congratulations on the new great-grandchild! I'm happy everyone is O.K., and I'm sure you're relieved.
Meg and Phyl - Hope you are getting in some crafting.
I went to JoAnn Fabric's today but didn't buy any quilting supplies. I did see a large sewing basket and bought that with a 50% off coupon. The basket I'm using for my hand quilting supplies is too small, but I think this one will work well.
Take care everyone!

Thank you CJ, Problem now is she won't eat so their going to do a tube feeding. I hope these people know what they're doing.I'm not real confident in them. It's one of the perils of living in a small town....not enough health care although this hospital does promote nurses being certified in their field and I think most of them are. CJ, I bought my last sewing machine locally so that I could support local business and so that I would have someone to consult if I had problems. They'd been in business here forever. A year after I bought the machine they closed I did have a pretty basic Brother awhile back. It did have some embroidery stitches but I never used them. I ended up giving it to my dil.

Good evening!
Ruth, congrats on the safe arrival of your latest DGD. I will continue to pray for her health, now that she is safely here. With your background as a former nurse you know WAY too much- which is both good and bad. If it were me and my great grand child I would, of course, try to summon up all the knowledge I had to make sure things were "just so". Let's pray that she will respond well to the tube feeding, and start eating on her own very soon so she can gain some weight. The Lord has taken care of her so far....and does promise never to leave us nor forsake us.
CJ- I agree if you can support your local shop that is the best thing to do. That way too you can get lessons on use of the machine and any other support you might need. When are they supposed to get the machine in? Bet you cannot wait to get it, and you will have it for lots of quilting during the fall and winter, when we all will feel more like crafting. Glad you bought the new basket at Joanns. THey have some nice baskets to help keep things organized, and a 50% off coupon does not hurt either!
Meg, I am worried about you...hope and pray that you are ok.
Phyl, how are you doing?
I worked this am, then went to a friends house for lunch. After that Dd and the grands were here, so it was a busy busy day. THe friend whose house I ate lunch at is a fellow crafter, so I looked at all her projects and UFO's. THink that counts as crafting, right?
Have a blessed night. Ginny

I hope that Meg is missing only because she's having computer problems. Computer problems are worrisome and most times expensive but better than being sick.
Yes I forgot about that aspect of buying locally...lessons on how to use the machine may be available.
Ginny, yes I fully trust in God's work and I praise and thank Him for the safe delivery of the baby. I'm sure she'll start eating. Sometimes God does allow us to go through some troubling things though and sorrowful things but there's always a reason. That's not always easy to handle or understand but it is true. But I do fully expect that she will be fine. Thank you Ginny and all my friends here. I'm truly blessed to have met this group.
Dd hasn't gotten back to me yet. I was going to go to visit dgd but dd said there were so many of her friends there. I think it was better in the day when they only allowed the father and grandparents to visit in OB because after having a baby and before going home to have to feed that baby every two hours a woman does need rest.
I hope Phyl had a good day too.

Good morning, Ruth, indeed sometimes it does appear to be a bit of a circus in a hospital room these days....a new mom needs her rest, and sometimes that hospital time is the only rest she will get for a long time. I hope you can get to see your newest family member soon! Is it a far drive to go visit them?
I kept hoping as I started reading the posts that I would see Meg here.. thanks for the reminder Ruth that she has been having computer problems too. I hope that is all it is.
Got DGS here for an hour or two- think we will see him around 10.I am feeling a bit tired today- hope to stay in and keep comfortable. Its not all that hot but very humid. I figure part of the reason I am feeling a bit down is I ate way too much dairy yesterday. I am not what you would call lactose intolerant, but have to limit what I do eat. That lunch I had yesterday was very dairy based.....it tasted good but I knew I would ultimately pay the price.
Laundry today....hope I can get some quilting time in later on. Hi to CJ and Phyl Ginny

good afternoon well almost, I have not been doing any crafting. guess I haven't been In the mood I guess. yesterday we went to richland center area. met some friends at a restaurant and then went to visit with them at the campgrounds. not sure if anyone here knows marlene. she had the walking across America thread on the old boards.very nice couple. course I got my kitty loves and hugs.
wi to day up 3 pounds. just to many meals on the go this week.
I have been looking at the eversewn sparrow machines. they are made by the ceo's son of bernia. a lot better pricing. made in the chicago area. they have the sparrow 15,20,25. the new one is the sparrow 30 .more computerized. this is a great little machine if people don't want to go the more expensive ones. the girls at the Rochester mn shop call it the work horse. I did try the sparrow 20 0ne time.they statr at less then 400. the new one is 5 or al ittle more. doesn't mean I will get one. phyl

Good morning Ginny and all who come in later.
I did send an email to Meg but didn't get an answer. I hope she's ok
No it's not all that far to drive. We have only one hospital really in town and it's the one I used to work at. BAby has to stay in the hospital until she gains a couple ounces and can regulate her body temp. She is drinking from a bottle now though. My dgd pumps then feeds the milk to her with the bottle. I know she'll be disappointed if the baby doesn't learn to breast feed. They would discharge my dgd but said they would let her stay another night so she wouldn't have to go home without the baby.
Ginny, I'm sorry to hear you aren't feeling as good as you would like today. Dairy products can be a problem definitely, even if you don't have a true lactose intolerance. Feels pretty warm in my house this morning too and I also have to do laundry.
I definitely think that looking at your friend's works in progress counts as crafting.
I did get a little done yesterday. I'm working on more undies for the dolls for one thing and other little items but also did a few household chores intermittently.Dh and I were working on rearranging the dining room. Still have some more things to do in there.
Have a great day everyone.

Phyl, you came in while I was typing
Yes I know Marlene well. She's a wonderful person. She mentioned having lunch with a WW friend but didn't mention your name.I almost got to meet them in person once as they were traveling through my state one year but then they had a problem with their RV and had to go back home. I've spoken to her on the phone and of course on the old WW board, on here, and thru email.I remember when they got Waldo.

Phyl, thank you for reminding me!!!. I do remember those nipples that you put over your breast. They had two kinds. I'll have to remind dd about that so she can tell Ashley. And my ddil just told me that she had to pump for the whole year because her child #7 didn't take to breast either. I'll tell her too.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - I'm glad to hear the baby is doing better, I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. I agree with you all that too many people at the hospital doesn't seem good. I'd be worried about germs for my new baby. Glad to hear you've been getting a few crafting projects done. Ginny - I hope you are feeling better, I've been so fortunate not to have problems with any foods - but never know when those will develop. Hope you are able to get some quilting in today. I should get my new machine in mid-late August. Phyl - Glad to hear you are well and enjoying some visiting with friends. Meg - Hope you are doing O.K. I didn't do anything today, just relaxing. I had trouble sleeping last night so I'm a little tired. This is two nights in the last several weeks that I've had this trouble, I hope it doesn't continue. We are getting a lot of rain today and tomorrow, so I'm glad to just stay in and off the road. Take care everyone!

CJ, I'm sure you're really looking forward to getting your new machine. Yes it does seem like sometimes problems with foods do develop later in life. I hope you don't develop any. Also sleeping problems seem to develop as we get older. I never, ever, had a problem getting to sleep and staying asleep until I was about 50 or so and now I have trouble getting to sleep and I wake often.

Happy Saturday!
Have not heard from our dear Meg, who I know we all hope is ok.
Phyl, thanks for the heads up on the eversewn sparrow sewing machines. For me, its nice to know that there are some mid priced machines out there, in the event I ever want to upgrade. Sorry about your WI this week- but with eating out so much that adds a ton of salt. Get back on track....those 3# will come off, plus some.
Ruth, how is your new DGGD? Still praying for her, that she takes to eating well and that both baby and mom can be released together. Have you gotten to see her yet?
CJ-well rainy weather is usually good for sleeping and naps. Staying in and off the roads sounds like a good idea. Hope you enjoy your quiet time.
Got up and did some yard work this am. Its breezy here and lovely- my son thinks its cold but right now its in the mid 60's and I think its lovely! I cut up a bunch of brush to burn in the fire pit tonight. Grandkids have been here a lot recently so that means my quilting stays packed up. I did work on the pillowcase last night- just have 2 small butterflies to complete and the first one is done. All in all I am happy with the results
Have a great day GInny
