zazzles SO true! I once perceived them as some kind of currency. Now, I can't give them away. Everyone says, no thanks, I have plenty. And still, I keep them..... susiq25679 congrats on your WI!

zazzles DebDoesWW doordie50 linda72 LOL! Even with using a few for the move, my car pocket is exploding. Their new racket is to give you coupons you can use online, the catch being that you sign up for emails and more coupons. No, no, 1000 times, no! doordie50 Kitty (and wallet) hugs... susiq25679 Brava on the WI!

doordie50 , ksbruns
I wonder if BBB would like to discontinue those coupons but are afraid everyone would stop shopping there and they’d go bankrupt. There used to be a competitor, Linnen ’n Things, with a store across the sdtreet from my BBB. They would accept the BBB couons. But that wasn’t enough…they went out of business.
I read an article the other day that reported traditional retailers like Macy’s are not gaining new customers but are dependent on their loyal old customers to keep them afloat. The article stated that this is one of the reasons Sears is not able to be turned around.

zazzles ksbruns doordie50 Love my BBB coupons and yes, I would be sad if they left. We used to have a Linens and Things close to BBB and it was nice to see the competition between the two. But, it's getting harder for brick and mortar stores with the internet taking away customers. Macy's just announced they are closing 65 stores nationwide and I think this is the beginning of a lot of other stores citing major problems. One problem I see in stores like Macy's is that their inventory seems lower. I may find a blouse to buy but they don't have my size or color. On the internet, it's easier to find just what you want. But, I often need to try on clothing, esp. pants so that is why I like to visit a store. In our neighborhood, BBB has a lot of competition from Wal-Mart, J C Penneys, Academy, etc. so the coupons are a real incentive.

You both hit the nail on the head. I did hear that story on Macy's.
As long as it continues to be easier to shop online and less appealing to go the brick and mortar route due to limited stock and inconvenience, this trend will continue. I can't help but feel its a shame on so many levels and yet, I do shop online. No matter how easy it is to return things, I still need to try certain things on. Our Linens closed too. I hope there's a way for it to work out. The more choices/options we have the better.

zazzles linda72 doordie50 I don't know if the brick and mortal stores will vanish completely, but I think all the stores are dependent on their online service. I became an avid online shopper back in the day because it was so hard to find women's petites...OMG, the huge boxes that would arrive and then I would return (most...err...a lot.) And I only shopped at places where I could return in the store...and boy, did that habit stick because it's just as hard to find petites. It was ridiculous when I was shopping for Brady's wedding last year...there are just not a lot of petite MOG dresses, and I think I had all of them in my (fortunately bigger then) closet. J joked that we could open a MOG shop, it was insane....but finally I found something I loved. I would have been even more crazy if I had been driving around everywhere searching out those dresses, I did plenty of that, too. I have always loved Nordstrom and their fabulous customer service, and I see the stores having less and less stock. I think they created their own demise with the convenience of online shopping. Despite the hoarding of 20% coupons, most of the time I order from Amazon first....our addiction to our cars and the traffic that has created is just another part of the problem. I actually preferred Linens n Things, but BB&B does have it's generous return policy.

Okay,I have a solution. You can all give me your 20% coupons for BBB and maybe with my BBB gift card I received for Christmas I can actually afford to get something.LOL at the coupons going away.I'm with Kathy on the petites.I can hardly find any petite jeans or pants at the brick and mortar shops.I also end up ordering most of my stuff(not clothes)from Amazon.

ksbruns , I, too, miss Linen ’N Things as I also preferred them. But BBB isn’t bad. I learned the secret to using the BBB coupons online from an employee—you go to the store and have them place the web order and they can enter the coupon and get you the discount. That was a lesson worth learning.
I agree with you about the stores doing a lot of this to themselves in terms of restricting what they carry. I’m a big man; always have been. There are many of us around the area. You read all the ongoing stories about how fat the population keeps getting, how everyone is huge,. But go looking for men’s clothing aroun the SF Bay Area and all you’ll find is sizes to fit petite men. So I’m often forced to shop online from non-brick-and-mortar retailers. Macys, Nordstroms, et al, never see a dime of my money for clothing. And I’d prefer to be able to go to the stores to look, touch, and buy when it comes to clothing.

zazzles With you on the "large man" clothing. My DH wears Tall man clothes and it's next to impossible to find them in stores. End up buying online at Kohl's and JcPenney a lot!!
