Good evening!
CJ- think you have hit it on the head- keep trying therapists until you find one that works for you. That is so very important- and you might be uncomfortable asking friends and family who is best- as you might want to keep this private. Ask your doctor who he/she recommends....of course, you can also check out advertisements. Indeed, it is a shame what we do to ourselves ( or allow others to do to us) by buying that "line" that just because we are not stick figures we cannot do.(fill in the blank). Of course that is all bunk- but how very much it hurts when you are growing up. (I was slightly heavy- at the top of my weight range in high school). It stinks and those negative messages that we allow ourselves to adopt sometimes never go away. Add to that if you had a difficult upbringing (I did)- and we can be very uncomfortable and unhappy. Do what you have to do for yourself. THink first I would get some blood work done and go see your primary care doctor. We are all here for you and are in your corner. Feel free to vent.
Phyl- so sorry about your hip and the advancing osteo. Well, the good news is that the pain was not in your head- there is a real reason for your discomfort. I pray that they can find something to keep you more comfortable- I have heard that things like yoga can be beneficial- but know nothing about that. (Think Ruth will have a ton of wisdom on this when she checks in). You know what? Have a lite beer- think its only 3 points. Glad you are mastering the new machine. Is yours a brother also?
Meg- praying that all goes well tomorrow! Do you have butterflies? Hope you got some rest....in a way its good that it will still be hot, then you will stay in and recover from your procedure. I share a funny story.....my mom had cataracts in both eyes. Not sure which procedure, but I went to pick her up from the procedure and she growled at me....why? Silly woman, she wanted to put her eye makeup on her good eye and she had left it home. I share that because its a simple procedure- and I am sure you will do just fine. You will be in my prayers.
Well.......Dd and the grandkids are coming over to roast marshmallows. No quiet evening for this woman. Tomorrow we are going to a small zoo with them- they love the place and its supposed to be a nice day.
Hard to believe I have to go back to work next week.
Hope everyone has a great evening Ginny

well Meg, I've been retired for 14 years so probably wouldn't make a good nurse for you although I could still get your IV started easily I'm sure. I was always great at that and it's something that you don't lose the knack for.
Phyl, sorry to hear that it's worse arthritis. I hope the pain goes away for awhile at least so that you don't have to rush into having to have some surgery or whatever will be needed if you see the ortho.
Ginny, I, too, hope you can have some relaxing and fun days before school starts again and you have to go back to work.
Bought a pack of chicken thighs. I got it home and opened it to repackage for the freezer and it just really smelled horrible so it's garbage pick up day and they hadn't come yet so out to the garbage went the chicken. I saved the label and receipt and will get my money back next time I go. I finally got everything else mostly put away and veggies and fruit washed and refrigerated, everything in the freezer. Now I'm resting because bladder spasm are getting me because of so much walking and standing I guess ,because I didn't eat anything I shouldn't have eaten. At least it's not as painful as it was for the first couple months.
I have two baby blankets started so I'll work on one or both this evening.
Oh and I got the package mailed
And CJ, good idea to try several unless the first one is one you really like. It's important to have someone you feel comfortable sharing your innermost secrets with.

Ginny, I didn't see your message before I posted that last message. I hadn't refreshed the page. Yes that few items did, indeed, turn into a large shopping trip. We don't usually spend anywhere near that much but there were a bunch of bargains we couldn't pass up.
I'm sorry that you don't have much of your vacation left. This summer sure seemed to go by fast.

Good evening!
Ruth, you are fooling no one here....you were a pretty good nurse in your day and still have a darned good idea what is going on. And indeed there is a knack for getting an IV started, some have it, some do not. That sure stinks (Literally!) with the story about the chicken thighs. Good thing that your store will credit back to you what you paid for them. I really hope and pray that you are able to rest up this evening and that the spasms calm down. Its does sound as though you are slowly going into remission- which I pray lasts for a long long time. Yay! You got the package mailed. Bet that feels good, right?
Fun evening, roasting marshmallows, burning sparklers and just goofing with the grandkids well into dark. Dd used my kitchen to cook in while I entertained the kids- her kitchen renovation is almost done, but her sink is not yet hooked up. Made more sense to cook here where at least dishes can be washed. Going to go read....I would like to finish this book before I have to go back.
Ruth, Meg, CJ and Phyl, I am praying for each of you...

hi, meg will say a few prayers for you. the surgery is easy.. takes longer for them to get you ready for the surgery. my surgeries they put some type of paper towel over my face. on the first surgery I could see shadows. then all at once I saw this long needle coming toward me. I must have tighten up because he told me to breathe. can't remember if I asked him are you giving me the shot in the eye? I got the shot just under the eye. next time I told him I would be more relax and why. he just laughed. he always stops In to see his patients before he does the surgery. my surgery was done at the regular clinic. when sis had hers done we went to the cataract clinic building.boy were they busy.don and my brother and dsil sat In the foyer. I sat in the waiting room.
I would like to put off hip surgery till after Christmas if I could. we always go to ky just before to spend christmas with our youngest dd and dsil and dgs. we we will see how pt goes. who knows maybe I won't have that bad of a flare up again.lol all I could tell myself is I cannot imagine the pain my friend bev went through with her back cancer before she died. as she says the pain does ware on you.
I tell other people if they need the surgery just do it. will have to follow my own advice or eat my words. and shut up.lol. I don't get into pt till sept 29. maybe I will all and see if I can get into the pt person in the pt gym. I do like the appointment I have with the pt person I worked with several times before.phyl

After staying awake almost all last night I am hoping for a good nights sleep.
Phyl, having ostart is not fun. I have it in my lower back. I hope you can get some relief as I know you like to be out and about and it will certainly will cramp your style. Good idea to put off your surgery until after Christmas you would not want to spoil the holiday season. I did that with my second knee surgery. He got me in there right at the beginning of Jan, I have macular degeneration and I get injections in my eyes every 8 weeks so I am not afraid of the needle because they will numb my eye before they do anything....at least I hope thy do.
Ginny, no I do not have butterflies in my stomach. I just want to get it over with and hope I can see better with my left eye. I hope the evening with the kids toasting marshmallows goes well. It sounds like a fun evening.
Ruth, I bet you were a good nurse and I am sure you could still do a good job. I would love to be a fly on the wall when the package with all the clothes fr the CP dolls
cj, good luck finding a therapist you feel comfortable with.
Thank you all for your prayers.

Thank you Ginny and Meg.
Meg, when I had my cataract surgery I didn't see a thing from the time they injected a med into my IV. I didn't see any needle coming at me or if I did the amnesiac drug erased it from my memory. I remember going into the room. My doctor had spoken to us before I went in and when I went in there the anesthesiologist introduced himself and that's the last I remember. As Phyl said the time prior to surgery is the longest when they have to keep putting drops in your eyes every few minutes to dilate your eyes.
Ginny, I forgot to say that I love roasted marshmallows and you're making me with I had bought some while I was out. I remember little zoos from when my kids were little. They were such fun. I love regular big zoos too.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Meg – I hate to hear you are getting the hot weather again, hope you can stay cool. I’m glad you were able to put off the sleep study until after your surgery. Hope you were able to get some sleep last night. Phyl – I’m glad you’ve been able to play around on your machine, it’s amazing how each brand has different features. I’m sorry to hear about your osteoarthritis and hope you can find some relief from the pain. Ruth – That sounds like a lot of shopping, I hope the spasm went away quickly. I’m glad you smelled that bad chicken instead of just putting it in the freezer (like I would have done LOL). I hope you can get your money back. I hate it when I come home with food and then realize it’s bad. I try to check dates on everything that I’m able to in the stores. Hope you are enjoying working on your new blankets. Ginny – Your evening with the grandkids sounds so nice and summery. I hope they enjoyed the zoo too. They are lucky to have you for their grandmother. Hope you get to finish your book too, since life will get busier again next week for you. Thanks everyone for all your kind thoughts and words of advice. I’m feeling better today. It’s cooler here and I can open the windows and that helps. I think part of what was getting me down was having all the blinds and curtains pulled all Summer, it was just so depressing to sit in a dark house. Also, I’ve been watching all that flooding news this week and since I was a great admirer of Princess Diana I’ve been watching all the shows covering her life and death. It was just a combination of a lot of sad things that left me feeling more down than usual. But I’m still going to look into things to get me feeling better overall. Take care everyone!

Good morning all. It's still morning here. I don't know if Meg mentioned what time her surgery is. I hope it's all done by now and she's almost ready to go home or if not done that all is going well. I'm praying.
A friend on another thread was missing evening before least. She always stops in to tell about her day and says goodnight. It turned out that she had suffered an episode of high blood pressure and chest pain while at cardiac rehab so she was sent to the hospital to have a cath to see if her new stent was still patent. So I'm praying for her too. I imagine a lot of us have many people and concerns on our prayer lists
Yes the blankets are fun. I started the one three times before I settled on what pattern of stitches I'm going to use. One is that cabbage patch kids pattern that is a crossed stitch and it's very nice and the openings aren't very large once you have a few rows done. That one is for donating. The other is the soft Teddy bear yarn and is the sideways shell which is the Linus Project pattern. Both are fun and easy stitches to do. Later today I may start the pair of mittens that one dgd requested and also that sweater pattern for which I posted the site address a couple weeks ago. Next will be a Bible cover for another dgd.
There is also a little cleaning and a little more organizing I want to get done today. I woke to find that they had delivered a while stack of boxes of things we ordered. They had about 4 huge boxes each of which had one small item in them so I have to break those down and stab the big bubble they packed them with. I like the paper wrapping that Walmart uses because it's perfect to start fires in my woodstove.
Have a great day and I'll see you later.
CJ I'm so glad to hear you're feeling better. Yes there is a lot in the world to depress us and I find too that darkness makes me sad and also winter weather or even any change in seasons actually

Hi everyone,
No I have not had the surgery just yet. I report in at 1 p.m. which would be 4 p.m. back east.
cj, I am glad you are feeling better. I went on a visit to England and N. Ireland 2 days after Princess Diana's death. So I was over there at that time.
Ruth, I am glad you have sent your packages off. Your b/blanket sounds like it will be very nice. I tried the shell pattern one time and got in a mess os I unraveled it and used the yarn for something else. I should try again. I think it was the Linus pattern. Sorry about your friends episode its was good that she was where she could get immediate attention and I hope she will be alright. I bet those chicken thighs did smell. Chicken and fish smell awful if they have gone off. I bought some fish one time and it smelled awful so It did not get eaten. Now I have to go and put some drops in my eyes. I hope I don't remember a thing when it is over but ail know they will numb my eye so I am not too worried.

Well good evening!!! By now Meg's eye is done, and I hope she is doing great. If i remember correctly the very next day the I had to take her to the doctor who removed her bandage, and she could already see better! Meg, hope the procedure was painless, and completely effective. Do you have a few good books to keep you busy in the meantime?
Phyl, that is a good thing that you have an appointment with the PT person you like. It would be wonderful if you could respond well from PT and not need a procedure. Are they talking about hip replacement?
Ruth, glad that the package is mailed....how long will it take to get to its destination? Indeed we all have many concerns and people to pray for on our lists....the one thing that stinks about being online friends is that we do not know how each other is doing, other than information we post. glad she is ok.Hope that everything you ordered was just what you wanted, no returns needed.
CJ- so good to hear that you are feeling better! I am the same way- summer and the heat depresses me. Cannot wait to learn all about your new machine, and the quilt tops that you finally get a chance to finish with it.
Last night was fun, I stayed outslde with the kids for a long time....no one told Dd how many marshmallows each ate......ha ha ha ha....we had a lot of fun playing as it got darker. (Dd was in the house). Today was fun at the zoo- the day went a little longer than I had hoped- we hit weekend traffic on the way home. But a good day- I just had to work hard to complete the housework I wanted to accomplish today. So much I want to get done before Wednesday/
Got an email from my LQS- who moved a tiny bit further from my home- now she is 3 miles. Anyway, she is bringing in the brother line of machines and chats about how good they are and all the cool features they have. I will have to stop in and check them out. Sounds like you chose well, CJ!
Ok, gotta get to my email. Dd is on her way home- but for now I have a nice fire outside and I am enjoying a cool evening. Ginny

When I had mine done I had to go back the next day also however I was able to remove the bandage that evening and ending up reading using my new lens that was implanted.
Ginny, that's what grandkids are for. We have to spoil them. When my oldest dgd and dgd were little they used to spend the night here often and sometimes for breakfast we'd have ice cream. One time when I was visiting my ds when the three oldest were the only children so far the parents went out and while they were gone the dgks and I made choc chip cookies. So grandaughter Emily who was 2 then was so excited she said to her parents "Grandma made cookies with us and she let us eat some" I'm sure I let them eat more than the parents would have allowed but I didn't give them too many because I didn't want them to get sick since they usually didn't have a lot of sweets at a time. However while the parents were discussing remodeling in Lowes my dgs and I shared wintergreen lifesaver. Parents weren't paying attention. Dgs loved candy
And I know how much we like to have our homes in order but, Ginny, enjoy the rest of your time off.
One of our grocery stores has a clearance shelf for fruits and veggies that aren't quite up to their standards and they sell them for 99c /bag. So yesterday they had two bags of nice looking lemons. Each bag had 15 lemons in it. So earlier today I spent my time washing then cutting the lemons in half then juicing them all using a spoon. Now I have a good supply of lemon juice in my freezer that cost hardly anything compared to buying the frozen Minute Maid lemon juice I usually buy or buying fresh lemons at nearly $1 each
I think too that I found hte culprit involved in my bladder spasms. I've been eating Horibo sour gummy bears and I'm sure they have a lot of citric acid. Eating or drinking things with a lot of citric acid is sure to irritate the bladder of someone with IC
Well again, I hope that Meg is doing ok.
Hello also to Phyl...hope your pain is better...and CJ, hope you're enjoying that new machine.
It's going to be 97 here on Sunday. You ladies would hate it and I'm not too fond of it either but it's better than Meg's location with about 110 or so.

Good morning fellow crafters! Happy Saturday!
Meg, hoping that your procedure went really well...my mom's story (for both eyes) was a lot like Ruth's- the "new" eye was put to use very quickly (in my mom's case both times it was the next day) with great success
Ruth- awesome story about the lemons- and a great time saver. How many times do you need only a small amount of lemon juice, which you now have handy in the freezer! Indeed I tend to stock small amounts of goodies that the grandkids like. They know where "their food" is kept and both walk right into our kitchen to get the food items they like. Its pretty funny and very cute. (And hysterical to watch the look on their mothers face as they feed themselves).
My crafting yesterday was to make a bouquet of silver dollars and put it in a vase for Dd. I have a vase that the other Dd brought home from the florist she used to work for - it was going to be thrown out, ,but is very pretty. THe vase matches Dd (#1) new countertop perfectly- so I cleaned up the silver dollars and got them in the vase. They look really pretty.....yes I did add some of the leftover silver dollars to my pitcher of them in my own kitchen. Now to finish cleaning the seeds.....got plenty of them. Does anyone want silver dollar seeds for next year? I have plenty!
Have a great day Ginny
