Since I caught the great-grands sniffles, I shall saturate myself with citrus tomorrow --- fresh grapefruit and navel oranges, and some soup.
How - I shall be AWARE and drink lots of fluids.

Bee, take care so it doesn't get worse. I woke up yesterday with the left side of my nose stuffed up so I am trying to take care of it. We have had a few dry days but expect very heavy rain on the weekend. I went to the free monthly meeting for LT members yesterday and received the new materials for 2017. There were 6 of us and it was a good group with lots of discussion. Everyone agreed that the GHGs should be added to the materials if only in one page as recommended guidelines.Everyone there follows them to some degree. I do not drink milk or have 2-3 dairy products but I do everything else.I also watched the brief Oprah video at 5 my time. It was basically a guided meditation to envision what your life will be like when you are at goal. I am so glad I focused on WW because I have two challenges this weekend with dinners out tonight and tomorrow. Tonight it is with another couple at the nearby Peruvian restaurant. I love ceviche but will have a salad instead because of the salt and then I will order fish for dinner. We invited them to come to our house after dinner for port wine but this can be a win for me because that means everyone will skip dessert and it will be fine if I don't partake of the extra wine. I will have a glass of wine with dinner. Then Saturday night we are taking our younger daughter and her husband to the really good Italian restaurant to celebrate her birthday which will be on the 9th. Again, I just have to focus on portions and choices. Today I will have a good long walk, eat mindfully at breakfast and lunch to have some extra points for the dinner. I will drink water and track.Yesterday this tiny woman at the meeting said she had a 300 point day during the holidays. How can that be? One of the ladies in the neighborhood who passed away last year used to make fudge for several of the neighbors so she decided to take over the tradition. As she delivered it she had a box in her car and kept eating it throughout the day. She figured it was 13 points for a normal size piece. We could not believe she didn't get sick but she went right back on plan and had no gain during December.

Friday: making "skinny soup" tomorrow, b/c it's the perfect time for vegetable soup & Ann's plan made me hungry for it! I always think that one 5-6 quart pot will yield leftovers to freeze, but we usually eat the whole pot over a weekend.
How: am likely to put on a pot right after breakfast so that I can enjoy some for lunch. Am thinking that a nice bowl of soup & a turkey burger or turkey sandwich would hit the spot.
Waving to everyone in adavance... am likely to treat myself to some extra time snuggled under flannel sheets tomorrow morning. It's one of those simple pleasures that I give myself in the winter. There is something quite pleasant about the warmth and softness bed and something quite right about being truly grateful for a warm home and hot food as winter takes hold.
CBL!

Audrey- wish that we had a special LT meeting. Sounds worthwhile! I don't know about anyone else, but the ghgs give me a more balanced approach to eating. Wish they would come back, too. I Am someone who likes a structure so long it is not rigid. I appreciate the prod to get in 2-3 dairy products. Am glad that I used the ghgs, b/c it's a great planning tool. Your approach to the restaurant meals and wine this weekend is very reasonable. When we drive to Cabela's, I usually buy s-f fudge. DH & I both like it. But even eating more than 1 piece of that make my tummy ache. I don't know if I could physically eat 300 points of fudge. Impressed that she was accountable and did not go off the deep end. Inspiring! Hope that you feel better too.

OOOO just LOVE the Italian restaurant Audrey. My mom's bday would be 1/7 my uncle 1/8 and my dad chose to celebrate his on 1/10 as he was born in Italy and wasn't sure if it was the 9th or 10th LOL. So Happy Bday to your DD. I still haven't listened to Oprah, but will most definitely do that tomorrow.
Bee hope you feel better. ((((((((((hugs))))))))))) Kick those sniffles to the curb quickly. Sending over some warm hugs and chicken soup.
June enjoy your sleepin' in under the flannel sheets!!!!! I too will be making the veggie soup tomorrow, as I take down our tree and put away the Christmas decorations for another year!
Going to turn in now. We were out visiting neighbors and just got back home. So....suffice to say I shall be sleeping in.......
Ciao

Good morning to all early risers, I'm almost done exercising. Took Trigger to the Dr. Last night he has a rash from his stomach up and it is so itchy , they gave him a shot and put him on Prednisone. It's always something any more with us 2 . I go to my Family Dr. At 10:00 about my Jaw I also go to see my Orthodontist on Tuesday , I actually think my teeth are moving on that one side, I had braces around 10 years ago. I know I was old ...So maybe we all can soon figure what is causing my jaw ache.
June some days it is nice for me just to have a Jammie day. Enjoy your soup.
Bee I hope your sniffles get better soon..
Audrey I also wish we had a lifetime meeting...I also hardly ever get my milk in but do get the rest in , well most days
Ann sleeping in is always a good think. Enjoy it..
I'm making green beans and ham for supper I won't eat to much as I weigh in in the morning...Cause of the sodium..
How : KOKO

Goooood morning.....
The extra minutes in bed were enjoyable.
Prayers and more prayers to those caught in the more intense grips of eastern and southern winter storm system. It's cold here, not as cold as it can get in January in NE Ohio, but cold enough. Am likely to make soups, roasts, and roasted vegetables. Will dream up some indoor project that is productive. Stay safe everyone!
What's on tap for everyone?
Hope that you have a pleasant day...

Naomi- hope that you & Trigger soon find relief. Yes, there are times when you feels as if the question of the month should be "What's next?" Atta girl for getting your exercise accomplished first !!! Do you ever cook ham, potaoes, & green beans together? I was just thinking of making that or corned beef, cabbage, & carrots. Both were one pot meals that my mom prepared. I am likely to make baked apples today. Probably will just microwave them w/ some diet Dr. Pepper.
Ann- how that you had pleasant dreams.
Ha-- it's 2 degrees here, but feels like -11. Starting that pot of soup soon!

Hi girls, yes it's cccold out there! We are having snow flurries as I type, but it's NOT supposed to amount to anything. We shall see.
June, I'll also be doing the veggie soup today. I did enjoy a GOOD and LONG sleep. Felt good to just stay there, turn over, and doze again LOL.
The only other thing on our agenda is to take down the Christmas tree. When I was growing up, we always did it on January 6th, the feast of the Epiphany or 'little Christmas' as my dad called it.
Wishing all that follow a great OP day!

Bee – Feel better. This is the cold that never ends. Audrey – I wish we had a meeting like that. They only have it once a year. Sounds like you have a solid plan to take you through the weekend. Add me to the list of wanting the good health guidelines back. I still try to get them in every day. June – Enjoy the soup. I wish I was more of a soup lover. I have plenty in the freezer for when I do want it. What has been better is that I have been finding broths with <200 mg. sodium per serving. Salt is my biggest issue. Naomi – Hope you get to the bottom of your jaw issues. Great job on the exercise. Hope Trigger is better. Ann - I will be joining you in taking down the Christmas decorations. We only got a dusting fortunately and the main roads are clear so I was at the gym at 5:30. It’s tomorrow night I am more worried about because the forecast is anywhere from 2-6” and I have to head up to a memorial on Sunday. Lunch out today will be hummus, lavash and pickled veggies. Dinner is take out tuna tartar and seaweed salad for movie night at my sister’s. Tomorrow night I am doing one of those room escape adventures with some friends and then we are going out for Chinese. This place has good choices. Sunday there will be a repast after the memorial. I don’t need to eat of the choices aren’t good.

Weighed in this morning, down 3/10ths and am so glad to still be in the lower decade 2 weeks in a row.
Ladies, I am treating the whatever. Hot tea with ginger, lemon and the Thieves/Lemon essential honey my DGD gave me for Christmas.
Audrey, enjoy the gatherings. A 300 point day on fudge? WOW! And gained nothing? I want to get my metabolism where she gets hers. LOL I haven't eaten 5 pieces of fudge over a 40 year period. Never learned to make it or enjoy it.
June, your soup and planned sandwich sounds real good for a cold day. I am making white chicken chili --- with lima beans instead of white, as I love lima beans. I love one pot meals, but mine tend to the stir frys.
Ann, enjoy de-decorating the house. Above the lake is getting some winter percipitation. We won't get that cold today.
Naomi, I hope the shot and meds help Trigger. Also hope they are able to tell you exactly what yours is. As to the GHG, I agree they need to be reinstated. If I had to do milk to lose weight, I would be extremely fluffly.
How - drink lots of water, overload myself with citrus, and keep drinking the fresh ginger lemon tea.
Hope AWF have a great day!

Ann-- what a lovely tradition to continue. May loving memories of your childhood and parents be with you. My soup is on! Decided to make the smaller 6qt pot since most of my quarts for freezing soup are already sitting in my parents's freezer! Waiting for the smell to start filling the air.
Susi- Ha ha ha... you have so many wonderful entrees, seafood dishes, and vegetable choices that I wish that I liked. Funny, I was thinking that a low sodium broth would also be a nice treat this time of the year. Have you kicked your head cold to the curb? Sounds like you have a full weekend of activities planned and a strong handle on the known food options. Love that seafood is such lean protein & so varied. Offers a viable strategy for balancing out more pointy or carbohydrate dense meals.
Bee-- Hope that the lemon & honey home remedy does its magic. Good to know what works for you & to have that special honey on hand. That extra dash of love is comforting. ha ha ha ... my body was trying to pack on 5 lbs are the belly as I was reading about Audrey's acquataince who consumed 300 points of fudge! Who know, however, what the rest of that story is... my takeaway was-- account, accept, and move on. But I would have to plan for a different scenario next year!
