Ginny, you are so correct. ONline we somehow really get to know each other and begin to care deeply about the people we meet.
The installer for DTV who, of course, was the first person from that company we met was like the one you spoke of. He spent time and somehow the subject of football game up. He was young but he brought up the Bills and I, of course, was a Bills fan. He talked about their losses in the 4 in a row Super Bowl games they were in and mentioned the place kicker. He said he would have prayed for the outcome but said God is not interested in such little things. Well I don't agree. God loves us so much that He sent His son to die for us so I'm sure He's interested in everything in our lives.God tells us thru the Bible that He's interested in everything in our lives. However, while one person is praying for one team there are people praying for the other team so everyone can't havve the answer they want.
I'm glad you'll be able to drop in and say hello on your weekend. I'll be praying for a safe and enjoyable trip for you and your dh.
Phyl, yes working on out projects definitely causes our playpens to become cluttered once again. It's a never ending battle to keep out things organized esp since most of us have way to much of our craft supplies.
I worked on the mittens and I do think I have it right. My dgd is going to be 11 so I don't know exactly what the size of her hands is but I looked at charts as Ginny suggested and got a good idea of what it should be. And I do have pretty small hands and wrists for an adult woman...esp wrist and the new size I made fits great on my wrists so I do think it should be good on her. If my 12 yr old dgs that lives here would come over I could try them on him but he's not around often with school and all. He's very tall but slim so I think the two would have simiar hand size. And since I'm kind of just testing I'm not using four colors. I found a really nice color of wool ease in my stash so I'm using that.I may put a band of a coordinating color in the middle of the hand but not sure yet. Probably not for this pair. I'm writing all my revisions down so that I have this as a guide for making more mittens and I'll send it to this designer and she can use it or not. Others asked for child size too. The designer is a young woman with children so I'm sure she's busy.
Well I do hope you'll all have a great day. Don't work too hard anyone and enjoy the day.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Meg – I’m glad to hear your thumb is feeling better and that you found some pants that you like. I’ve had some Alfred Dunner clothes and they seem to be good quality. I hope you get your new glasses soon and that they help you see better and also that you get the surgery done next month. I’m sure you enjoyed purchasing some new yarn! Ginny – Sorry to hear about your busy week. I’m sure you are looking forward to the trip this weekend since you don’t have to drive. Have you picked out some projects to work on while you are riding in the car? I’m glad you had a nice serviceman come to your house, some of them aren’t very pleasant. Ruth – I’m glad you were able to get your satellite dish fixed. Sounds like you have a bunch of projects to work on. Hope the mittens are coming along well. Phyl – I’m glad you got your room cleaned, I’m sure that makes it more fun to do your crafting in. I’m doing well and my mouth is feeling better. I had a follow-up appointment at the dentist today and they said things look well. So now I feel better about eating some “tougher” foods. I didn’t mind the soft foods, but after a week of them it gets kind of tiring. I also haven’t used a straw in a week, and I think I might wait a few more days to get back to that. I usually have a cup of Caffeine Free Diet Coke every night too, and haven’t had that for a week since I read to avoid carbonated beverages. I might wait a few more days to have that too. I have a lunch out tomorrow and on Friday too so hopefully I’ll be able to get some good food at those. I haven’t been doing any crafting, but did look at some magazines. Take care everyone!

Hello everyone, Not a lot happening here today. The temp will reach 90 today. But the mornings are very nice. Last evening we went out to dinner , DS, Devin and I and some friends. I ate too much but I brought a lot of it home. When I came home I listened to an audio book and rolled several skeins of yarn into balls. so that was my crafting for the day. I am going to start the afghan for my DGD. I also want to make one for my DD which will keep me busy for awhile plus trying to keep up with my b/blankets.
cj, how long do have to wait to get your new teeth? I hope you are feeling better.
Ruth, I do remember some of the names you mentioned. Elayne & Wilma were posting on face book and also Carlene. They used to send me e-mails. But I don't go on Face Book very often. Have uou been able to go look for pants yet? I bought mine at Penny's and ordered the same pants from them on line. They had lots of pants in the store but not my size in the color I wanted. So I hope you find what you want. A short petite makes buying clothes more difficult. The cataract surgery I had recently was the left eye and now I hope to have cataract surgery on the right eye.

Ginny, I hope you have a great weekend and that you will be able yo relax and have fun. Its nice when they have WIFI I wish it was available everywhere. If I don't have WIFI I can't read my library books on my nook. But I can read the books I purchased,
Phyl, God Bless you wherever you are. Have a great day everyone. I am getting sleepy so I need a nap.

Just got in from working with dh on the garage and we did put out a lot of stuff for the garbage pickup tomorrow. Dh has a hard time parting with things so there are still a LOT of things in there that I would get rid of if it was up to me.For instance, we haven't had tropical fish in many years but we have several tanks and several smaller fish bowls, we have several bird cages, a little box for cats and a small cat or dog bed.We have a while lot of Mason jars and no I've never canned. There are way to many other items to even mention...well one thing is boat seats. We don't have a boat and never will again. Even when we had a boat it had seats already so we've never used these seats. We also have a couple rural mailboxes...we have no need for those and we have a utility sink dh was going to install in the past and never did and never will and, as I said many, many other things that will never ever be use....oh bowling balls. We won't ever be bowling again I'm sure.
CJ, Yes I hope that you will be able to eat some nice tasty foods when you're out to dinner or lunch. I'm glad to hear that your mouth is healing well.
Meg, no I haven't gone shopping yet. I'm not sure exactly when I'll go and I don't know if the Penny's store here is still in business or not. I know they've close a lot of the Penny's stores and they've also closed a lot of stores at our one and only mall so will have to look into that before I drive all the way over there. I do have enough clothing for now but my smallest size is a little on the baggy side.
I did work on the mittens just a little this morning and will again this evening. It would be great if I could get the pair done tonight.Meg, do you roll all your skeins into a ball even though it comes in a pull skein? Wilma mentioned that that's what she does. I'm too lazy and sometimes I regret that I didn't.
This tv company..DTV...calls after each service call and has you do a survey on how the tech did.

hi, well my hip surgery willl be January 30. that or the 29th. will be making a few trips up that way. it is almost bone on bone. the cartilage is narrowing and I have two bit bone spurs. no wonder it hurts at times. the pa gave me a few choices and said it would get worse. so I opted for the surgery. told him tired of taking otc pills and being in pain even if it is not as bad
I will be doing a lot of stuff around before that day comes. stuff I keep putting off. one thing I want don to do is to paint the basement family and playpen walls. needs freshing up. also get that carpet shampooed. then start to clean dresser drawers and closets. yuck it is easier to clean the whole house then to go through those. takes less time also. phyl

Phyl, I'm sorry to hear that you have to have surgery but I think it's probably better to get it done than to keep taking medications that may or may not help and may lead to you suffering side effects. The other thing is that it's better to have it done now than at an older age I'm sure. Sounds like a great idea to get your dh to paint those walls and to get the carpet shampooed now too. Yes going thru dresser drawers does take time. I do like doing it though and making space. I wish dh would go thru his. Also I would suggest getting some knitting or crochet or hand quilt things together so that you can take it with you to the hospital and to the rehab facility if you're going to do that or to even just have it at home when you still can't get around real well. Also in case you're not going to rehab and will travel to Pt, it's good to have those projects available for waiting time. I know when I was in the hospital for just two days a few years ago I was bored silly. I don't know how long people have to stay in the hospital now for the type surgery you're having. When I worked on orthopedics people stayed a long time but they don't keep anyone that long anymore. I would also suggest sitting in a firm chair with arms and pushing yourself up off the chair with your arms. That will strengthen your arms for using a walker. If you don't strengthen them your arms will get tired fast while trying to do your pt. Another good exercise that helps is tightening your glutes aka your buttock muscles. That strengthens the muscles in the hip area and helps the replacement to heal faster. I would think they would tell you all this at your ortho office but just in case they don't you know it now.Exercising the muscles on the front of the thigh is a good one to do too. That helps your hip and knees. They show these online if you wanted to look them up.

Hi everyone, I was trying to do a sample of the afghan I am going to do for DGD but I gave up for now. I will try again tomorrow. I like peacer and quiet when I am starting something.
Ruth, yes I mostly wind my skeins into balls and I don't mind doing it. Then if there are any tangles I can fix them before I start working on my project. Reading about all the stuff you have in your garage made me think you could have really good a yard sale.
Phyl, I think you will be glad you decided on having the hip surgery. It is amazing what they can do now a days. I had both my knees replaced a few years ago and it was well worth it. I did choose to go to rehab. at that time Devin was very small and I didn't want him banging into my legs or wanting to sit on my lap. Good idea to get the holiday season over with before having the surgery. Why spoil Christmas . I did that when I had my second knee surgery. I told my DR. that I wanted to wait until after the holidays so he put me on his schedule for the beginning of January.
I need to get to bed as I have to get Devin off to school and then I have a DR. appt.
Wishing you all a good night.

Meg, I should definitely do that...wind the yarn into balls. I often find a lot of tangles and sometimes there are a lot of knots that have to be cut out. I could do that all beforehand and not have to stop working. Yes peace and quiet esp when working on a new stitch or pattern is really essential. I remember when you had your knees done. I'm glad they're working well for you. I've known a couple people that didn't seem to have a good outcome but those are rare. Good idea to go to a rehab facility if you have small children or pets in the home. Tripping over them and having to redo the surgery is not something anyone wants.
Chilly day here. Dh said yesterday that he wanted to go shopping today but so far hasn't said anything. I'll have to ask if he's still going. He knows I don't like to go out much but I did get into a going out frame of mind just in case so I'm ready but if we stayed home I wouldn't mind at all.
Mittens are coming along well. I didn't get the pair done...didn't even finish the first one yet because I did other things last evening. Thank you Ginny for your confidence in me and it does seem like it's working...the altering of the pattern. I wrote it all down as I said I would do so I can make more and in smaller and larger sizes for the other children. This pair was requested by the soon to be 11 year old dgd.
Well going to bite the bullet and ask dh about going. Have a great day and will see you all later

Ever wonder why they bother putting yarn in skeins when we all would rather have the yarn in balls?
Ruth, hope you got out (if you wanted to) and were able to work on the mittens. Indeed, it sounds like you could have a great garage sale, but they are a lot of work- and your Dh does not like to get rid of stuff.
Meg- I am with you, on a new project I like to be wide awake and be able to focus on the new pattern until I am sure what I am doing. Hope you get that chance to figure out the new pattern soon. What color afghan will you be making for Dd?
Phyl, I am sorry to learn that you will need hip replacement surgery, but like Meg and Ruth, most that opt to do so are very happy they did. Long term your quality of life will improve a lot. Its sure a good excuse to get the house straightened up too!
CJ - enjoy your lunches out - both today and tomorrow. Glad to hear that your mouth is healing nicely. Soon you should be able to eat pretty much anything you want for awhile- until they start the implant process. But that heals quickly .
yay! The cold front came in. Gotta pack for this weekend, which includes the afghan and a spare hook. I will never remember the time we were traveling and I somehow lost my hook. Dh was so sweet and asked if there was any place we could stop at to get a spare.
Ok enough from me. Have a great day Ginny

hi, this am I was In the playpen cutting pieces for another Christmas stocking. I started them last year and never finished them. those just need the cuff put on. I also want to put the names on the cuff.
also need to get started on natahan's cinn. bengels quilt. we will go there about a week earlier in dec.they live In ky just across the river.
well my playpen is still neat. not as neat as the day I cleaned it. I am trying.
thank you ruth for the exercise information. I remember some of them from knee surgeries . I never went to rehab then and won't now. don is a good caretaker.
today we went to piggy's. met don's friend don and his wife for lunch. don goes to the same y as my don does. first time us wives have met.phyl

PHyl, even the name Piggy's makes me think the place has delicious food. Enjoy your lunch and enjoy the company. I know Don will take very good care of you. In your case with no small children or pets and having a good caretaker like Don, you don't need to go to a rehab facility. You are very forunate. I'd probably have to go to one because of all the stairs we have here.We sure weren't thinking of our old age when we bought this house. There's really no way to get in that doesn't involve stairs but I'm sure dh could makeshift ramp
Yes I did go out to three stores and of course bought more than was intended but then they didn't have a few of the things I wanted either. Now I have to process everything to put in the freezer which will be a challenge in that there is not much space in there.
Yes I would much rather they made yarn into balls. One time I bought a huge ball of yarn and it came in a cardboard box just the size of the ball so that you could just pull the yarn and it came out nicely. Pull skeins was a nice thought but it didn't work out as it was intended. They're always getting stuck and you end up with a giant tangled clump...at least I do.
It's definitely a good idea to take an extra hook. Those pesky things seem to hide just when you need them.
CJ, by now you probably have already been out to lunch. I hope you had something really good and enjoyed the outing.

Hello everyone, It is still hot here but I think it may cool soon, at least I hope so. This morning I had a DR. appt. When I came home from my stay in the hospital Several tanks of oxygen had been delivered and the cpac equipment. Well I didn't like the cpac and only used it a few times so I called yesterday and asked the company who supplies it to come and pick it up. They said a DR. had to ask for it to be removed. So today I went to see my DR. and she is approving its removal. I am tired of all this oxygen equipment that I don't need and I am not using. I will try working on the afghan for DGD this evening.
Ginny, I have not decided on a color for DDs afghan. The one I am going to start for DGD will be gray, pink and white. Those are the colors she choose. I hope I get enough quiet time tonight to do some crafting. I am going to use the yarn I got from Hobby Lobby.
cj, I am glad to hear that you are going to progress to more solid food. And I hope when you go out with friends that you will find food that you can eat,
I have to go as DGD is on the phone I will be back later.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Meg - I'll have to wait 3-4 months before I can get the post if I want to do the dental implant. If I get a bridge I only need to wait a month or so. I hope everything went well at your appointment and that they'll get the oxygen equip removed for you. The gray, pink and white afghan sounds like it will be pretty - those colors go nicely together. Hope you had some time to get working on the afghans today. Ruth - I'm glad to hear your shopping went well and that the gloves are coming along. I always have trouble finding that piece of yarn to pull out of the middle of a skein, so usually end up just pulling it off from the top I'm sure it felt good to get some things cleared out of the garage too. Phyl - I'm sorry to hear you have to have hip surgery too, but I hope it will relieve your pain once it's over and you've had rehab. Hope you can get the things done you want to before the surgery in January. Ginny - I hope you enjoy your trip this weekend. And it is smart of you to take an extra hook, hopefully you'll get a lot done in the car. That was sweet of your husband to offer to stop and get you a hook the last time you lost one. I had a nice lunch today - fried haddock, cole slaw and hushpuppies. I'd been planning for this so I could fit it into my week and really enjoyed some fried food which I don't have too often anymore. The hushpuppies were just the kind I like - no onion or corn pieces in them. I would definitely go back to this restaurant again. Take care everyone!

Good evening!
CJ- what restaurant did you eat at? Good for you- both in that the place made hush puppies just like you like them and that you had sort of saved that meal in weight watchers land for today. Dental implants are indeed a process of hurrry up and wait...but I am glad I went through that process. You will decide to do that is best for you.
Meg, well if you were not using the oxygen equiptment, then I do understand why you would want it removed. Glad that your doctor agreed....Hope you can get some work done on your crocheting.
Ruth, well it sounds like you are getting food stored up for winter when getting out will be more difficult. I do the same thing and often buy more than we need. Oh, and I have trouble with pull skeins too. they snag all the time.
Extra hook is packed as is my dress/shoes/stockings for the wedding. Now all I have to do is pack up my casual clothes- what I will travel home in and I am done. Being a short trip I do not have to pack much.
I am reading at night instead of crafting.....book I am reading is really good and I need something soothing with all the crazy stuff going on.
Have a great night Ginny
