I agree; I have to be careful of anything I need to be perfect about, long history of compulsive eating, and I can still be compulsive about many things. I tried the blue dot challenge and didn't last a week. I felt discouraged that I couldn't get my dot every day. If I feel bad just for eating food, it's not for m. Sometimes I minipulate my points to get a blue dot. I wonder who I'm kidding other than myself. This is what I found myself doing. I would reach the end of my zone then want an extra glass of wine or something. I would track it the next day. I know it evens out in the end, but I didn't like manipulating the system that way. The GHG are gone because they didn't mesh with all the different eating styles out there. Now no one has to worry about counting almond milk as a dairy or coconut oil as a healthy oil. They wanted people to be able to eat Paleo or whatever and still be able to follow WW. That's interesting, Peggy, I hadn't heard that...I just heard that too many people were frustrated by the GHG's, which I also get, not any different than not getting a blue dot, but they taught me how to eat a balanced diet, so I'll always be a fan.

The very first post had a link that told what the blue dots were. Although I don't do WW anymore, I think I'd like the blue dot. I don't see why trying to get that dot would be any more disordered than wanting to check off all the GHGs, or wanting to avoid seeing red on the tracker (is it still red if you go over?). It just seems like one more tool. I definitely played for a while...but back when I finally started working a program, the people I was hanging with definitely believed it wasn't *enough* to just stay within your points, and I think that message stuck. Also, if someone uses a lot of weekly points in one day, you won't get your 🔵, and it was always supposed to be okay to use the weeklies however you wanted. We all know we have to find what works for us and a lot of people love them.

ksbruns, you are right about using more weeklies on certain days and not getting the blue dot. This is the first weekend I have gotten blue dots on Friday and Saturday but I am stuck and have not lost anything. Maybe I should go back to my old ways and use all my weeklies on the weekend, ha ha

This was the first week I ever got a weeks worth of blue dots!! For a change I (not on purpose) spread my weeklies instead of using them all up as I normally do. Also I frequently have a day or two below 27--I am NOT eating just to be earning dots!

Kathy, you know there is a lot more involved than not using weeklies to make the scale budge. When I have had my greatest monthly losses I may have had 27-28 out of 30/31 blue dots which basically meant I was tracking daily and staying within a points range. i have not seen red on the tracker if I go over my points, and it is a way of sticking to the plan. I did write earlier that the only problem I've had is when I have low pt protein during the day but I know my meals were healthy and filling. I have never seen blue dot shaming. If there are challenges it is no different than an exercise or water or any other challenge.

I take the Blue Dots to be just another tool to use if we need it. Even though I track on both the app and here on the computer I didn't even notice them until they were mentioned here. I am a tracker for sure so I often get them so they do little for me. They do though remind me of some of the info. on the Fitbit app.
When I got my fitbit my plan was to get back to my old walking routine. I use the steps and the hourly counts and the active steps pieces to motivate me in several ways. The hourlies especially remind me to get up at work where I sit a lot and move around. The active steps show me that I have taken a "real walk" that could have some more health benefits.
I think if people are using the dots to compete with friends or even to "brag" about then that is the kind of motivation that works for them. They are just like those endless selfies which I don't get. Somebody is being motivated by them in some way. I applaud anything that helps anyone.
I think with the Blue Dots WW is just giving us another portion control tool. Tracking is the big one for me, but for others those dots do the trick. Portion control and binging are two big things that are hard to create motivators or tools for. WW has given us options to use or not.
I thought the GHG's were a good thing that WW did. Checking them off however never really motivated me as I ate the items featured and have been a water drinker since childhood. I like that they existed because not everyone eats that way. A great tool but just not one I needed.
My big issue is amount and balance. So my tool of choice and NEED is tracking. Happy Blue dotting to all who need that.

I have a blue dot🔵 every day in October, November, December, and so far in January. Your Healthy Eating Zone is from -3 to +7 of your daily points. It can be like a game. I'm successful Lifetime so I have no problem staying within my HEZ.

If the 🔵is a motivator to keep you on plan, go for it. Not knocking anyone. I have a good amount of them considering its still early in the month. But I found myself feeling dishonest and acting downright nutsy with a spoon and a food scale shifting around cottage cheese by the friggin GRAM just to get a dot, and I was already at 36 pts, still hungry, and had no fruit on hand. If I had the fruit, this wouldn't have been an issue. A 🔵 shouldn't lead you to fudging numbers or smug self righteousness. I'm not saying abandon program or what you are doing, just chill.

I'll just be an oldster and say how I miss checking the GHG's. 👵🏻 I shouldn't admit this - but I just started tracking the GHGs in the notes section on LoseIt, and when I meet the GHG I insert a smiley face emoticon just like the old smileys we got on the old tracker. Sad but true! This is a GREAT idea!! I'm using Lose It right now to track so I might just do this! I also miss the GHG's!

i agree it can be a great tool for people, but i can already tell i'd get annoyed as fuck at people bragging about getting a blue dot every single day and reminding people once again how perfect they are.

Oh, well, we prefer to call you Pat—not Dotty. Besides, when people call you Dotty, strangers don’t know whether it is a name or a description!
