I also don't see where anyone is saying its easy, I just see them saying they are committed to doing the program, thats all.

beth, i think it's great that you've tracked daily and have been successful at it. that is definitely motivating to me as someone who does not do as i should to lose weight. i guess like you said, we all see things differently. i see you say you've struggled and that makes your daily tracking perfection feel victorious to me. not braggy or perfect. but i'm not saying i love seeing others struggle. that would be shitty. rather, i like feeling like i can relate to others who share my same struggles. i don't relate to someone who appears to have never needed WW to begin with, who tells people that she NEVER has a problem with temptation. seems strange to me, but maybe i'm the only one that finds that odd.

Those excited about their blue dots may have just had their first successful weight loss the same as someone excited about their loses, large or small. It may be that they finally feel in control.

I agree that perfection - without any apparent struggles - is discouraging. I relate to those with struggles similar to mine. I'm sure there are some people whose weight simply crept up over the years into the overweight range and who took steps to rectify it, got back to a healthy weight and never looked back. But that's definitely not me and I don't think that the majority of people have that experience.
As for the blue dots, I'm not a member so I don't get any blue dots, but I can say that after a while, I get desensitized to that kind of thing. If I frequently fail to get a dot, or go into the red every week, it stops being meaningful and I stop caring. Then I eventually stop even tracking.

I hear you finreporter. I'm seriously imperfectly Imperfect! The fact that I've managed to reach goal and stay with WW for an entire year is earth shattering! I follow the plan as it works for me when I can. It helps me to hear what works/ what doesn't work for others (I find your posting daily weights exceedingly brave!). What doesn't help me are those who are a little unbelievable in their journey (whether here, on Connect or at meetings).

We all follow WWers in our own way, with our own set of what motivates us. When I came back to WWers in 2001 (to meetings) I also used the online community for support...........but not this (meaning the WWer message boards). At that time they were too much "feely goody" for me. There was too much forgiveness. I needed to be "perfect" and I was probably obnoxious about it. I found another online WWer support site called Bootcamp Buddies. At the time they were very strict. It was exactly what I needed, not everyone, but me. I was genuinely scared to mess us because I'd have to tell them. And for me it worked. I did learn how and what to eat and developed good habits along the way. I got back to goal and I've stayed there for almost 15 years. Would this amount of militancy work for everyone? Of course not. But if it's blue dots, or check marks, or touting the GHGs and following the plan, do whatever works for you.

This is what it looks like on my iPhone. So far I've been tracking and within my "healthy eating zone" for this week! But I'd rather have the GHG boxes instead. This is just too easy to play with!! Thank you for posting this. I use the computer so never saw this. It's just a tad different on my droid but I get it. Never knew it existed I now see My Day, Journey, Connect, and Profile at the bottom of the screen. Never knew about the "messages" located at the top of the Journey page and here I had 4 very old messages. This is why I miss the old ww threads, but now I can get my information with you guys.

Everybody can do what motivates them. I never said to stop following program to compensate for others. But I won't let my successes or number of blue dots go to my head or laud them over others. I don't consider myself better or more successful than anyone else in this journey.

I paper track so I don't get blue dots. I made my own tracker with GHG's. I need them.
I agree that everyone does this their own way. I'm not perfect. If someone feels they are, good for them. But don't ever put anyone else down for not being perfect or for struggling.
We all have our own struggles and battles. What is easy for one may be the big battle for another and the reverse is also true.
I love this board because we respect and support all
