Good morning all. I got up to let Charlie out and cancel my spin class this morning. Unfortunately after I had my driveway all cleared including 15' out into the road, they came back last night and plowed me back in. My neighbor (also a single woman) and I live in the cul-du-sac part of the road and they never plow to the curb. So I will be getting my exercise "the old fashioned way". LOL. Breakfast is planned but lunch and therefore dinner will depend on the repast after the memorial service today. Then is the Packers/Giants game. Go Packers!

Good morning Susi and AWF. That is a LOT of snow, Susi. Do be careful with the shoveling. We didn't get all the snow they said, but it's very cold here. Last time I looked it was 3!!!!! I'm just fortunate that there is nothing I need to do today that involves the great outdoors.
I did pretty well yesterday with my portions. Didn't get in all the GHG's...I was short a dairy and an oil. Better 'luck' today.
Wishing all that follow a happy Sunday!

Goooood morning, Susi, Ann, and all my friends who follow
Susi- thanks for getting us started! Yes, you will definitely get a workout! That snow thrown by the snow plow has to be the worse. I know that you will be careful. Go Packers! One of my former students, Lamar Mady, is on the team. Think he is on the practice squad. Still, to be in the NFL is an achievement.
Ann- being mindful is what matters most, and your were. That really isn't easy to do at times. Today is another day. When that happens to me, I tell myself that a hot chocolate will call my name to add to dairy consumption tomorrow. I am surprisingly susceptible to suggestions.
Will CBL- after my first cup of tea

June you are so right. And with our temps so cold, a cup of hot chocolate will taste great!

Today: this is my last day of winter break. So, need to set the stage for a solid start to the semester. Will use the semester framework to envision my full recovery from the foot surgeries!
How: Will spend some of the day w/ minor organizing & light cleaning, then I will enjoy the rest of the day. Have to decide what to wear, too! About my feet, first task is to stop crossing or sitting on a leg, then exerting pressure or weight on it. Grrrr.... I do have a bad habit of curling my left leg under me or sitting Indian style. I can't expect the twinge in my left knee to disappear if I keep forgetting. Also, weird positions and stress makes something in one foot or the other " bark." It's ok. I can change my sitting habits. I will because I want to start walking for exercise again!

Ann-- you are a gal after my own heart! Dairy disguised as a treat always works for me! Will you add mint to yours?
Naomi-how did you feel after taking another pill? Hope that you can adjust this med or the doctor can prescribe another. You shouldn't have to choose between being comfortable or being loopy. Am sending you more warm fuzzy vibes.

June I always sit on my leg...if I'm not sitting on one, I'm crossing them....to the point where when I get up, I'm walking on pins and needles. I'm a slow learner! I really need to focus on NOT doing that.
Oh but of course!!! I just had a cup of hot chocolate and added a few mini mint chocolate chips and two mini marshmallows on top! Worked for me.
Carl just got done snow blowing, so now I'll sit and have a coffee.....without crossing my legs or sitting on one of them LOL.

Good morning, GANG!
Susi, reckon you have your exercise laid out for you. Don't overdo. Hope your team wins.
Ann, we won't send you to jail for missing one dairy! LOL Enjoy your not venturing out in the cold.
June, I know you have it all written down and probably metered out. I love that preciseness about you. I'm not like that. Enjoy your getting ready to go back to the Halls of Knowledge and lead those minds to a greater love of learning. I admire you teachers more than you will ever know.
Naomi, glad Trigger made you feel better. Sorry you are going through this. Hopefully when you talk to the doctor he will have soem wisdom for you. Enjoy that crustless pizza. I don't think I have ever had one of those.
My butternut squash bowl with 1 whole egg and 1 yolk is baking. I will eat it with salad.
How - water, water, water and AWARE, AWARE, AWARE. Those are my plans for the day ...
Hope AWF have a great day!
LaDonna, Audrey and Pam will check back later to see if you got here.

Susi, it seems that the snow plows only make it worse for you. That is a lot of snow. We will also root for the Packers today. Earlier in the week DH read it would be just 6 degrees there but not sure if it will be a bit warmer. Ann, stay warm indoors. It's good you have no reason to leave the house. I stopped doing dairy counts a few years ago because it seemed to irritate my stomach. I try to have yogurt a few times a week and take calcium supplements. i make my hot chocolate with water, certainly less satisfying but it is fine. June, I hope you have a great semester and a relaxing day today. I still tend to cross my legs and pay for it with pain so I too have to remember how to sit. You are so right about being in the NFL as a great achievement. We still perk up when we hear a Fresno State player's name. I read the best WSJ column this week about Annie Apple who is the mother of Eli Apple, a NY Giants rookie. Apparently she writes columns and is extremely supportive of the players. The cutest story is that when they had signing day there were no desserts with the food and she commented that's what happen when skinny women are in charge. She wrote a letter to Roger Goodell and in return, he sent her brownies. I had never heard of her before I read the story. Naomi, I hope you can slowly adjust to the pills and that they will help you with your jaw. Naomi, I wish I could remember what was wrong with my mother but it did go away. She died in 1988 and this was probably 10 years before that. I am trying to remember if it was a reaction to my father's death coming from severe stress like TMJ. I ended up having a salad and pizza last night, the most wonderful three mushroom pizza but not the very best choice on the menu. The inner child in me rebelled against chicken or fish. So with this new day I am committed to sticking to my points, tracking and moving forward. The rain was very heavy yesterday evening so if I cannot walk outside today, I will ride the stationary bike. Moving all of the books out of my daughter's bookcase and taking them to her home Friday was not the best idea. My legs are paying for it this weekend.

Ann-- yum, yum, yum.
Naomi--glad that your Trigger made you smile. Hope that you can get quick answers; it is hard to deal with the waiting & unknown.
Bee j-- your lunch sounds tempting. Enjoy!!! Yes, I am a tad dyslexic, so precision or structure are some of my best friends! Audrey--pizza is usually worth a menu change! Moving forward works just fine.
Will also try to CBL to say hi to LaDonna, Pam, and anyone else who drops in.

Naomi so happy that you are feeling a bit better. Love your new avatar! Red is your color.
LOL Bee, just to be 'safe' I made a weight watchers smoothie so I killed 2 birds with one stone and checked off my dairy. I 'cheat' there and still only DO 2 a day. In my mind I'm 'under 50' LOL. Have fun with the WATER and the AWARE glasses....both work!
Audrey, enjoy that PIZZA. It's one of my all time favorite foods!!!!!
Today is the anniversary of my dear uncle's death. He was my mom's brother. My mom's bday was yesterday and my dad's is on the 10th! I chose today to 'celebrate' all three of them. It's sad, but I know that they are still 'with me' which lessens the pain.
Going to shut down now. Waving to all that come after me.
Ciao

Good - LATE! - morning, all!
Naomi, I do so hope that you can find a way to relieve the pain besides taking pain pills...
BlabberPost to follow...
It's 19*-feels-like-5* here. Our snow's not shoveled. We don't have sidewalks so are not liable for fines; we'll clean our steps and walkway but are NOT too worried about clearing every bit - we can get around. And I'll have to clear off the Jeep for tomorrow morning.
Saturday at The Plantation was the Best*Day*EVER. After my WW meeting and a run to ShopRite for shrimp to defrost, our "car pool" to The Plantation included us, DBigSis, the Zigster, the hot appys (WW taco dip & spinach dip), the mashed potatoes, and the shrimp tray. Oh, and the Folgers so Toots could make the coffee (which he did - THREE POTS FULL - at dessert time).
The drive down was a bit <oy> with a lot of cars on the roads, which meant a lot of people with NO IDEA how to drive in snow/ice conditions. The drive home was much better since there were very few cars out at 8:30 PM. Main roads were mostly-clear and salted/sanded; side roads <meh> but passable.
We had a full house, including DDIL's parents - whom Toots & I LOVE to visit with - and we even Skyped with DBabySis (who stayed home) and the upstate-NY cousin, Kim (Ancram NY) who had gastric sleeve surgery right before Christmas and was staying close to home (she even Skyped to her family's Christmas Eve gathering). I'm really grateful for technology that can permit that kind of thing!
Food was excellent - a combination of catered and pot-luck including chicken marsala (TONS of mushrooms; our leftovers include LOTS of mushrooms, LOL), tortellini, penne vodka, meatballs, pierogi, and salad. Hot appys included MissMouse's dips and another artichoke/cheese dip. Lots of veggies and chips, of course. And the dessert table looked like a Viennese table.
We dropped off a sleeping Zigster and then took DBigSis home and were home in time to see the last quarter of the Seahawks game. And... we slept in today... felt sooo good.
So... the hollyDAZE are officially over for the KressMess. We'll take down the tree and the window garland today and tuck away the tinsel and treasures. It's been a great season.
Toots wants to go out for Sunday Steak Dinner. I will be honest - I don't want to go outside AT ALL. We'll see who "wins"... and then we'll settle down to watch the Giants game.
Have a healthy-eating day, all!
PS: We got all-new WW materials yesterday. And we also had two WW "big wigs" at the meeting. <ai-yi-yi>.
PPS: We got to watch a fox hunt and catch a mouse at The Plantation (and have a "hot meal" - good thing it was a few hundred feet away). We had a great view from the living room and the porch, and didn't distract it at all. It was a much bigger, fluffier fox than we get around our town - lots of food around for it to hunt.
*** <oops>
WHAT: The hollyDAZE, AKA the Season of Eatin', is now officially O-VER in Toots&DivaLand. We do have some leftover Chicken Marsala to work into the menu plan, and some shrimp (that will be MY low-SP indulgence, for sure!). However, the next Food-I-Day is not until Valentine's Day. The big challenge of January, IMO, is food boredom...
HOW: So... I've had a healthy bkfst, and Toots is standing firm on his desire for Sunday Steak Dinner (now to convince him that we should go to the closest place possible...). We don't need anything from the grocery today, so I can skip THAT parking lot <thhhbbbpppttt>. I need to find out if I will be cooking a shared meal tomorrow at the MousekeHouse.
