Hi Phyl and Cj, nice to see you both. Phyl, sorry you didn't get much sleep and missed sit and sew but it does sound like you got some things done even if it's true that you made a mess in your playpen. We're creative so messes come with that Besides shopping I got a few other things done mostly involving cooking. I have two soups simmering and a roast beef with a ton of veggies in the slow cooker and got a couple other things done too. Now I've been looking at patterns...as if I need more. I really need to get back to the sweater and see if I can figure out where I went wrong or if it was even me that made the mistake...probably was. Then I'm going to sort thru yarn and decide on a cowl pattern with appropriate yarn for the number of them I need to make which is six I think. I decided on a rattle to make for dggd and I'm making those balls for the year old boys. I have a gift for each of the dggc already but this will be a small second present. Ok, going to tackle the sweater.

I shouldn't speak too soon but I think I may have got it. If so my problem was that I have preconceived ideas of how things are supposed to go instead of actually following the pattern. And I think they do mean sc in the first dc of the cluster strange as that sounds and as strange as it seems to look at first glance. But when you put the sweater down and look at the sleeve it looks like it's working so they must have meant that. I guess I'll know more when I get a couple more rows done.
Ginny, I don't really remember buying any dazzelaire but I may have. As I mentioned, I got most of mine because of leader of Caps for Kids hearing me say I liked it so she gave me all of it whenever anyone donated any. I've made a lot of hats with that stuff. I love the softness of it.I don't have enough of any of it to make much of anything but a hat but that's fine. I'll just make them or mittens with that that I have remaining.

Just a short hello. Not sure if I will be able to stop in later on as Dh and I are running an errand tonight after dinner.
Started back on the baby afghan, which I hope I can work through the pattern......only on row 2 - it does not seem like a tough pattern though.
Hi to Meg, CJ, Phyl and Ruth. Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - You're food sounds good. And we can never have too many patterns Ginny - Hope the afghan is coming along well and that the pattern gets easier. Phyl - Glad to hear you are getting in some crafting. Meg - Hope you are feeling well and getting to do some crafting too. I finished up my yardwork today, and I'm glad about that. I've never been one to enjoy working outside. I have a very old large holly tree and these weeds grow up around the bottom of it and drive me crazy. So I've cut them all out and then cut up the branches of the weeds and put all the clippings in brown bags so they can be picked up next week (we have a weekly pickup). Now I just need to keep an eye on the tree and watch for them to grow back, because I couldn't cut them all the way to the ground due to all the branches of the holly tree. The weather is pretty and sunny here, nice Fall weather. Take care everyone!

Ginny, I hope your day isn't too stressful and busy. And I hope the errand you and your dh have to do is a pleasant one. I hope too that the blanket goes well
CJ, I really don't like working outdoors either. I do like pruning threes and bushes though and would like to do a lot more only dh keeps telling me not to cut more. I hate seeing any dead leaves or branches in a bush or tree. I'm not much for weeding which is one of the reasons I switched to growing my tomatoes in large pots instead of in the ground. Other reason is that dh and I just aren't able to dig up a garden anymore and I sure don't want to be out there getting rid of weed My neighbors in Arkansas had holly bushes. I still have fond memories of all the great flowers, bushes, tree, birds, etc that we had down there. We only went for a couple months a year but really loved it while we were there.
I've been digging in my toy stash to get out presents for my youngest grandson who will soon be 4. Found a couple I forgot about for dgd too who's birthday is soon after her brother's. I have to get both their presents and my ds' presents wrapped and packed and ready to mail.
My sweater sleeves seem to be working. I guess from now on I'll at least try to follow the designer's pattern even if it doesn't seen to make sense and see how it works out. I do see the logic now for what she has you do and they look like real sleeves.
Meg, has Devin started the before school thing yet? I hope you're getting some relaxation time and craft or do what you would like.Sounds like your afgan is coming along well
Phyl, I'm sure you're busy again. I hope you were able to get some rest. I thought of you last night when I couldn't get to sleep even though I thought I'd have no trouble because of getting up so early yesterday. How's Delona's dh doing after his surgery?

Hello everyone,
It is a very nice day here though I haven't been out. I will go and get Devin in a little while. I did work on the afghan last evening and listened to an audio book and I got quite a bit done. This morning I looked at some b/blankets on line and found one I think I might try when I have time. I have to start knitting a pr. of slipper boots for the Russian lady at my Knit Wits GP. I have been trying to get rid of some of the paper which really accumulates around here. I just never seem to get rid of it all.
cj, I am glad you are doing some gardening. Might as well be outside before the winter weather really sets in. A holly bush would be prickly so I can see why you can't get too close to tackle the weeds around it.
Ginny, it will be awhile before I wash this HL yarn though I might knit a sample and wash it. The yarn is very soft and nice to work with but I wonder if it will pile.
Ruth, I do hope you have found the answer to your pattern problem. Now that I don't have to get up early to take Devin to school I am inclined to want to sleep longer, but this morning I made my self get up and not waste the best part of the day. Maybe we will both need a nap. I am trying to get up earlier and go to bed earlier. Last night I was enjoying my audio book and crocheting and I stayed up until midnight.
Phyl, I am sure you will need a nap if you got up at 4.30 a.m. I hope you get a good sleep tonight. I hate it when I can't sleep because I have to be quiet so that I don't wake everyone else up.
Bye for now.

Meg, I usually do my best sleeping in the morning. I don't wake up early like many people...like Phyl for instance. Instead getting to sleep is my problem. One night last week I took a pill my doctor had prescribed and I slept very well but I don't want to take them all the time because I don't want to be dependent on the and I really don't have anything I really have to do so it's best to just lose a little sleep rather than rely on pills. People can even become dependent on melatonin. When your body doesn't have the extra melatonin you've been taking you don't get to sleep. I did try it once but it didn't help anyway.
I don't worry much about keeping dh awake when I can't sleep. I just stay out of the kitchen which is right over the bedroom. It's good to stay out of the kitchen anyway
I still haven't got around to listening to audio books. My dh was talking about bluetooth ear buds and I think that would be great to have so that I could listen to books without being attached to the laptop or tablet. We haven't got any yet though.
Will you be going to knitwits this week. The lady you make the slipper boots for will love them.

hi, well I did sleep great last night. kinda woke up a couple of times. got up at 6 for a change instead of 5 or 4.30. yippee.
last night I frogged the pink cable scarf. a couple of night ago I couldn't remember what row I was on. I forgot To mark it. seemed to me did that row. So I went on. then a few rows it looked like I was off. so out it came. with Cable stitches I don't know how to figure which cable I am. like getting the twist back right.
ok how is delona's dh doing after surgery. he has no pain . so he thinks he is superman. he is trying things he is not ready to do. like today get on the riding lawn mower and mow the 3 lots they have. delona told him not to. he says it has to be done. she told him it does not hurt to ask for help. the pt person told him no. he is only doing his exercise once a day instead of 3.
then there is mom. doing things without delona that she needs delona with for understanding and asking the right questions. dad died on sept2. mom is 94. she is not asking questions. when delona asks her about well are they going t odo this etc. mom does not know.
poor delona was crying this morning. she feels she is about to lose it.
with in a month dad died, dh knee surgery and now trying handle mom and help her with what she needs help with.
mom says the house is loney. when delona says do you want to try a senior or church group and get out among people? the answer is no. mom won't even go for meals on wheels.
please pray for my delona. thank you. phyl

Phyl, I'm sorry to hear that Delona is having such a hard time. Her dh sounds like a strong willed man. And her poor mother probably forgets to ask Delona for help and is having a hard time making decisions. I sure feel for Delona. There's a lot of her shoulders right now. I'll be praying for her. Adding her to my prayer list right now and will stop and prayer for her now even before doing that. She sounds like a good woman and a good friend for you.

Well I got the sweater all done, even the ends weaved in. All I need to do is make the ties. I'll get busy on that. They do have nice directions for a tie that is nicer than usual. I was thinking of just a button but I'll look at the ties again and make a decision.
It's nice and warm here again today but very breezy. The weather people here always say "breezy" when the wind is blasting. It's not as strong as it is sometimes but I'd still say it's more than just breezy.
I have my list for the cowls I'm going to make and the toys. I worked on dh's scarf last night. One that I started last year. It's knit and he mentioned it yesterday so I'll get that done before it gets too cold so that he can keep his neck warm. It's for when he's in his "man cave" sitting at his desk. His neck gets cold and so does his shiny head so he wears a hat I knitted for him way back in 2005 while we were in Arkansas one year. That year I knitted a bunch of hats while there to take to Caps for Kids when I got back here so I knitted him one also. His is double strand of yarn.I've knitted him other hats and crocheted some for him too but he likes this one best.
I do hope you all have a great day and get to do some things that you really enjoy. PHyl, Delona comes to my mind often and when I think of her I stop and pray for her.And Phyl, sorry about the pink cable scarf. I know you're been working on that for quite awhile and it must be frustrating to have to take it out again. Every time you mention it I want to make a cable scarf but I have so many other things on my list right now. I've only made one cable item in my life and that was the pattern that Elayne that used to be on the old WW board sent me. It turned out great. I was sure surprised. I even made some mistakes and was able to fix them without ripping out the while thing. Sure surprised me. It was a gift for a wonderful neighbor down in Arkansas and it does get cold down there at times plus she's originally from Wisconsin so if she goes to visit there in the winter she could use it there too.
Ok I blabbed enough for now. I'll get started on today's list

Hello Crafters I'm glad everyone is doing well and sounds like you are busy with crafting and taking care of family. I haven't done any crafting, just been busy with other "life" things. Take care everyone!

HI CJ, I haven't gotten back to do the ties or even look up and read the instructions for them to decide which I'll do because dh decided that since the weather is nice we should work outside. Then he asked if I was enjoying the warm weather before winter came and I said no because I don't enjoy being outside but I do enjoy having the things done that need to be done. He has one more project to do which shouldn't take all that long but still it will probably drag out so another day outdoors in the next couple days.

Good evening! Another busy day.....so I will be brief.
Of course I will pray for Delona. It sounds as though the dear woman is being assaulted from all sides and cannot get a break. I hope that in the craziness of her life Delona looks heavenward too and asks for the Lords peace and an extra measure of grace- which I am confident he will provide.
Ruth, glad you got the sweater figured out. I agree it would be a nice thing to be able to Bluetooth listen to audiobooks... You do sound very organized getting to your crafts...
CJ- totally agree, yard work stinks. Even in good weather it stinks. I would much rather craft, as I am sure you would rather craft too.
Meg, Looking forward to hearing how you like working with that HL yarn and how well it washes.
Probably will not craft tonight. Been a long day....and I am looking forward to the weekend. G
