We are walkers, joggers, bicyclists, and some do other exercise. We set goals and keep track by miles. You can set your goal for any amount, count your miles any way you wish. The goal is consistency with exercise.
We started Jan. 20, 2003 on the WW Challenge Central Board as "250 Miles by June 1" & we've done 35 five-month walking challenges, including the one we finished Oct 1, 2016.
The group challenge is to average about 2 miles a day, 13 miles a week, or 50 miles a month; if you do it, in 5 months you will have walked 250 miles, and if you have stuck with the challenge and a healthy eating program for that 5 months, you will see wonderful changes in your health, fitness, and size!
Some people will finish well before the target date & will go for more or another 250 miles, but others will go at a slower pace, and new members will join along the way, so each member is welcome to set her/his own personal goal and target date. The new group challenge which started Oct 1, 2016, is "250 Miles by March 1, 2017."

Good Morning Walkers!
I just finished marching in place 20 mins = 1 mile - oatmeal is cooking and coffee already dripped but the oatmeal boiled over and I had to clean it up. Also put away dishes from yesterday.
I was in my green zone of pts for the day yesterday. Avoided the sweets and chips. There are still chips in the house which I am avoiding. ------------ JAN PR CHALLENGE: So far this Month out of 15 days: Green zone pts: 9 At least 1 mi per day: 13 JGTB: 13 -------------
RUTH - Congratulations on your new granddaughter! What an experience! I was present in the room with DD#1 and DSIL when DGD #2 was born. I so appreciated that they let me be with them. Sounds like you are already a good grandma to DGD in TX.
KELLY - you'll get your mojo back. As long as I'm still here and haven't quit, as long as I keep getting up when I slip and learning from it, I'm getting better.
AMY I'm also glad you didn't pay for Nutrisystem. I did that years ago and lost weight but gained it back. As KELLY or someone said, it's artificial. You don't learn to eat in the real world. With Nutrisystem You're eating a lot of packaged processed foods. Those aren't good for me. I eat regular Whole Foods plant based diet. It's working well for me.
YETTA - I'm glad you can still use the gym at work.
Waving at everyone! Have a great day!

Good afternoon,
Ruth congrats on the new grand baby . I understand about having GKs that do not live close. I have three in Rochester, NY I don't get to see often. But they have their other GM close so that helps.
I walked the TM two miles this morning, have been on the move all day, I have over 13,000 steps . Do any of you count Fitbit miles toward your daily miles? I have like 5.22 miles on it.
Kelly hope you get back in the groove soon, I know that helps to feel more in control.
Cait GFY being in your zone and steps.

Good Morning!!
Boy, I must have been tired yesterday morning. I posted on last weeks thread and forgot to start this weeks. Good day yesterday. I added a 3 mile WATP.
The babies will have to stay longer. They are having issues with jaundice. Charles is having some issues with apnea when he sleeps and Isabelle had a choking episode yesterday. My niece is so bummed. It is hard with her having 3 school age children at home and having the babies at the hospital.
Ruth: Congrats on the new grandbaby.
Cait: Thanks for starting the thread. Good job getting the exercise in too.
Nancy: Thanks for the encouragement. I track both of my miles. I track exercise miles and Fitbit miles on a chart.
Waving to all. Happy walking. Have a great day.

Good morning. Still no actual workout for me, not working today either. Picking up mom and baby to take them home from the hospital and staying overnight there.
Nancy I count my fitbit steps into miles because I do a lot of workouts that don't take me any distance and many times when I do the odometer is not working
Kelly, hope you get your energy back soon. That really knocked you down!
Cait: You are SO organized and consistant! Inspirational

Good Morning Walkers! Yesterday I got in 20 mins = 1 mi marching in place in am & 40 mins = 2 miles marching in place evening while watching TV with DH & sis. I did JGTB and stayed in my green zone of pts. I didn't have my evening snack. DS usually doesn't do an evening snack - a good practice I am thinking of including - but hey - I've only recently been able to let go of my post-evening-snack-snack! Of course that PESS was an open gate letting the herd run through and no end in sight til I fell asleep on the couch. Dinner last night was lateish and I just didn't really need it. I know I don't really "need" it any night. It's really just a habit. But DH would be sad if I don't participate in the evening snack ritual, although he realizes we don't need it. Tonight we are going to dinner for DHs bday at one of his favorite places The Yardhouse in Long Beach. Lots of craft beers and good menu. This am I marched in place 20 mins = 1 mile while typing this so, I'll at least have my 1 mile for my PR challenge even if tonight I don't do exercise. ------------ JAN PR CHALLENGE: So far this Month out of 16 days: Green zone pts: 10 At least 1 mi per day: 14 JGTB: 14 ---------- Interesting article, especially for those who don't want to give up animal foods, dairy, eggs, etc. entirely. The higher we score in plant foods, the better our health outcomes. Every little bit more on the plant side and every little bit less on the animal food side makes a difference. All or nothing is not required! nutritionfacts.org/2017/01/17/what-do-all-the-blue-zones-have-in-common/KELLY - prayers for the babies - my 1st had jaundice - hospital insisted on keeping her and wouldn't let me nurse - it was a funky hospital that the insurance used - I was freaked at leaving hospital without her - I called everywhere looking for answers - I found Dr Paul Fleiss, a pediatrician consultant to La Leche League, who was an MD and I think also PhD and MS in public health. Later known more for his daughter. Anyway he was a saint and became our pediatrician. He reviewed the labs and said "Just sign her out AMA (against medical advice) and bring her to me." We did. He said she was fine and could process the bilirubin. "Every time she opens her mouth, stick a breast in it." And let her lie in indirect sunlight. That helps her body break down the bilirubin. It was May in SoCal. We sat outside in partial sun and by windows & she nursed, and we went to him several times a week til she was better. I will always keep him in prayers of gratitude. RUTH - I'm so glad you have that close relationship with DD & the baby. You'll get a new routine going as you & DD make the adjustments to the new life. NANCY - GFY with the AM-TM routine 😃 I don't do Fitbit but I've thought about doing it. I figure whatever encourages us to get in more exercise is a good thing. Waving at everyone! Have a great day! Good afternoon, Kelly I am so happy for you that you are getting your mojo back. Great job with the WATP. Hope the babies are doing much better. It must be hard for the mom.
Ruth how far does you DD live from you? Hope it is close, so you can see the baby real often.
Cait GFY getting in your miles. Happy Birthday to DH! Have a wonderful evening out.
Waving to Amy and ATF!
I walked the TM three miles today. Then went for a haircut. I wear my hair short, it is very thick,so I go every five weeks. Sure feels better.

Good Morning!!
A good day yesterday. I added a 3 mile WATP and got in all my water. The babies are doing well but still have not gotten a D/C date. My niece looks exhausted. Her parents help with the older girls but also give her quite a hard time about life choices. I feel bad for her as postpartum causes enough issues with emotions she does not need the extra stress. I can see her parents view at times but I could never say the things they do especially around the older girls.
Ruth: Enjoy the new grandbaby. It is so nice that she has your support.
Cait: Great job with your miles, JGTB, and not having that evening snack.
Nancy: Great job with your miles.
Waving to all. Happy Walking.

Good Morning Walkers!
Yesterday 1 mile in am. We went out to dinner for DH bday and I made good choices, and two 8-oz beers, but restaurant food is pointy so I ended the day in my yellow zone of pts. I did JGTB early because I'm up early to go with DS to Moms and then to DD#2 house for lunch so DS can see her & her house before leaving Sat. --------- JAN PR CHALLENGE: So far this Month out of 17 days: Green zone pts: 10 At least 1 mi per day: 15 JGTB: 15 --------
KELLY - whoo hoo for you with the WATP 2 days in a row . Probably it just took time for the bod & spirit to recover from that UTI. Prayers for your niece
NANCY - GFY AM TM
Waving at everyone! Have a great day!

Good evening,
Kelly GFY for you workout and good food choices.i hope things get better for your niece . She must be under a lot of stress.
Cait GFY making good choices and getting in your miles. Have fun with your sis and family tomorrow.
I walked three miles this am. Did a little Pilates, probably not enough, but at least a start. The rest of the day I have worked on my income tax. I get everything together and take to the lady that does it for me. I hate paper work and I am bad about putting it off. So it is a big relief to be done with it.

Cait I am glad I canceled it. Empty calories and lots of points. They emphasize not to add fruit. That goes against my common sense. I I figured out today how to eat many times during the day and not go hungry with 32 points and 1695 calories. 376 of those calories are 4 apples. I have to start WATP. A check was sent out for a pilates machine and stand. I would need help putting it together., I would have to follow the beginning i hope DVD. There are numerous. QVC has not gotten the check yet. i figured out the food now WATP. I am out of shape, I lost .8 today at WW.

Good Morning!!
I had a good day yesterday. I added a 4 mile WATP.
Cait: So glad you are enjoying your time with your sister. Good job with your miles and your meal out.
Nancy: Great job with your miles and the Pilates.
Amy: Many diets want you to avoid fruits due to natural sugar content and carbs. But as WW teaches us a healthy diet is more about portion control and making better choices.
Waving to all. Have a great day.

Good Morning Walkers!
Yesterday was a great day even though I did eat chips with dinner and finished off the bag by myself after DH & DS finished dinner, & ended up at the top of my red zone of pts for the day. BUT HEY - I didn't go on to eat more stuff and didn't cross that line at the top of my red zone. I marched in place in the evening watching TV and I did JGTB. ------- JAN PR CHALLENGE: So far this Month out of 18 days: Green zone pts: 10 At least 1 mi per day: 16 JGTB: 16 ----------- I had been limping from a sore & swollen ankle since last week. Finally went to Dr Tuesday & learned Tuesday that I have cellulitis - staph infection from a teeny tiny cut from shaving - & am now on antibiotic. Swelling is going down and soreness much better today.
Sis & I visited Mom yesterday am. DS is working on a decluttering project at Moms so Mom can walk around easier. I just sat with Mom while DS did her thing. I had gotten the yard guy to send over a man to carry boxes & furniture. I also did a 1 hour continuing ed webinar while I sat with Mom, in between chatting with Mom. DS is always industrious. She and I each have our areas of Mom responsibilities re bills, med, dent, caregivers, house maintenance. shopping, etc. and we do a lot of it jointly. I visit Mom weekly when I'm here in SoCal & she visits twice a year for a week. We each do what we can.
Then we drove to LA & went by our old church where we went when we stayed with our grandparents and drove by DGPs old house and neighborhood. Then we went to my DD#2 house so DS could see her & her guy, since DD couldn't come to the party last Sunday & we went to lunch with DD. Then we drove back to Long Beach and went to an arts & crafts co-op store & an antique store. DS loves to shop. Me not so much  But she found things she was excited to get and I got some hand crafted soaps. It's fun just to be spending time together.
I'm typing this as I'm marching in place this am. GFM (Good For Me!) 😀
I noticed this am as I got out my walnuts for my oatmeal that the ice cream from DH party Sunday is still in the freezer. Amazing grace! In the past it would have been gone Sunday night. I haven't had any and don't want any. Weird and wonderful.
NANCY You are doing great with the consistency of exercise. GFY with the Miles & Pilates and tax prep. When we get back north to home, tax prep is #1 on the To-do list
AMY - I loved to hear you say that it goes against common sense to avoid fruit! Yes! Wholesome "real" foods in moderate amounts works.
RUTH - Glad you can help DD
KELLY - whoo hoo for you, got the mojo back, 4 mi WATP!
Waving at everyone! Have a great day!
