Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well Ruth - How terrible for your DD, and it really shows how what seems like such a small injury can lead to so many complications. I hope that she'll be feeling better soon. I also hope your bloodwork results are good and that everything goes well for your appointment tomorrow. Hope things work out with your DH's Amazon order. Ginny - Hope you enjoyed the time with your DGD and did get to let him go outside. It was cold and windy here today, so probably colder where you are. I'm glad you finally received all of your order, and with a bonus of keeping the other items. I had lunch out today at a local restaurant with a group of ladies I meet each month. It's nice to get out, but today it just seemed like everyone was competing to be the winner of the most "woe is me" stories. It kind of wore me out and stressed me out. I don't have to go out tomorrow, so I'll just relax. I'm going to try something in the morning that I rarely do. I'm not going to set my alarm to get up and I'm just going to see how late I sleep. I always get up once in the night (anywhere from 2:00-5:00). I set the alarm for around 8:00 but sometimes wake up earlier. It just seems that I'm really getting in good sleep when the alarm goes off, so I want to see how late I'll really sleep without the alarm. It's just a test because I really don't want to sleep until 10:00 in the morning, I like to be up by 8:00 to keep my body on a more normal schedule. Ah the problems of a retiree LOL Take care everyone!

CJ, thank you for the kind words about my dd. Yes it sure seemed to be that that pin in her foot was a minor thing but it sure evolved. Being with people who are negative can be very draining.I'm sure you're tired after that and probably disappointed that what you thought would be a fun outing turned into something stressful. I hope they feel better next time you meet. I never set my clock(well except for the days I have to go somewhere) and probably sleep too late but my sleep, too, always seems better in the morning so I go with that. Since I always worked evening and night shifts that's more normal for me anyway. Well as far as the doctor's office goes I messed up. I was sure they said the 26th but just now listened to my voicemail and found a message from Monday evening where the auto thing at doctor's office called to remind my dh about his appointment on TUESDAY the 23rd..no mention of me. so I called and it turns out that both our appointments were on Tuesday so I rescheduled and we won't be able to see her until Feb 27th which is fine because we've already had blood work done and that's all we really needed except I want her to schedule dh for some other tests but they can wait. Better then anyway because maybe it won't be snowing....Sure and maybe hades will freeze over. So since results of blood aren't on patient portal I left a message for the nurse to mail us copies.

Good evening! CJ- indeed what a shame that your fun luncheon out ended up being a chorus of woe is me! I do understand, your group met when each of you was in crisis- so the group treats your meetings as a safe place/time to vent. Once in a while it would be nice to smile and laugh too! Glad you have tomorrow off to regroup and restore your mind. Bet today was draining. I am curious to see how late you sleep also! That is interesting.....how long have you been retired? Ruth, yes, I do know the word is intubate. Dumb spell check keeps on changing it on me! Well, its good that you can now have your blood results mailed to you The i and have the time to look at them. I have messed up like that too- and its an easy thing to do. THe important thing is that you go- which I know you will. Hope that Dd is feeling better and healing well. Yes, got DGS out in the cold, but he did not mind! He had a good time running around- expending energy- setting up for a nice nap. . We do not have the grandkids tomorrow- my first day off from them in almost 2 weeks. What will I do with myself? Gotta crochet tonight, I have been rather behind in that department. Herrscheners sent me a 10% off your next order coupon- am happy to share that code (good though March) if anyone is interested. Off to play with yarn. Have a wonderful night. Hi to Phyl and Meg! G

I thought I'd drop in and see if any posts since I was here last. Ginny, I'm laughing because I sure do know that you know how to spell. Spell checkers are trying to rule our lives. Everytime my dd or ddil sends a message, spell correct puts in something weird. I'm beginning to be very fluent in spell check I can't use that excuse though because I only post on my laptop and I've disabled spell check on here. I just don't type well. I'm glad you were able to get your dgs out to play in the fresh air. I don't think little boys ever pass up the chance to get outdoors. Herrschnerr's includes the 10% off coupon in every shipment but I don't order often enough to use mine while it's still in effect. Now I already have way too much yarn and I don't think they have anything else I need but I sure thank you for offering us the use of the code. If ever anyone wants to order from Red Heart use DOWNLOAD15 and you'll get 15% off. It's what they give you after you download a pattern. I download a lot of their patterns but I've never used that code because, again, I forget. It never expires though so you can use it anytime.I haven't actually ordered much from them and when I do it's because they've sent me an email with an offer that has it's own code and you can't use two. Ginny, I'm glad you got to work on your crocheting this evening. I finished my Valentine things completely except to put the candy in them. So now I'm going to work on my March projects.Over the weekend I have to get all the birthday presents wrapped and all this stuff packed and ready for when we do go out. See you all tomorrow

Good morning! Ruth, thanks for the red heart code- like you,, I rarely order online- especially yarn. So its doubtful I would ever use it. We have 4 good stores nearby to get yarn and I am not into the exotic stuff that is $20 a skein. Do not think Lion brand of Herrscheners sells that stuff anyway.
The other night Dd’s Bf was over- and he announced that he was finally using Siri to send out an occasional email from his phone. So we got into the discussion about how silly these online spell checkers are and how they can mess up the spelling sometimes. I voice text a lot- especially to Dd when she was up at school. Every time I mentioned the name of the town that her school is in- Siri misspelled it. I would, of course always correct that spelling- but Siri never learned the correct spelling. She sill mauls it every time. The other night- when Dd’s BF was over we were joking about it.....so we all tried, using my phone- to see if Siri ever got it right. (They figured it would work for them because they felt their annunciation was a bit better. Nope. Siri mauled it then too. Spell check can be awfully dumb
Well, I found a problem on the baby afghan and am now ripping out a lot of rows. Grrrrrr......hope to be back to adding rows again soon G

Good morning all. Ginny, I've never used the voice thing even on my computer and I don't have a smart phone so don't use it there either. Dh tried it once on his computer and the spelling was bad so that was the end of that. But I do have a very dear friend who is in her 90's who I keep in touch with via email. Her sight is really bad and she has a hard time typing things. I suggested she use the voice thing and she has computer savy grandchildren who could set it up for her but she doesn't do it. I'm behind the times and never text either. And actually Herrschnerr's does have some pretty expensive yarns. And I think Red Heart has some with cashmere and merino wool that is really pricy too but not like some of the other online places and certainly not like the little yarn shops. One time I was looking at patterns on one yarn company's site and they showed a shawl and the yarn suggested and the price of the shawl ended up being over $700in materials.I think that was on the site called Love Crochet. To me yarn that cost $7.99/skein is expensive . I have a friend that knits socks and she said she was buying inexpensive yarn to make a pair for her ggd since she is a child but the yarn for the socks ended up being $16.00 anyway.I'd go buy the girl some pretty socks rather than spend that on socks for a little kid Sorry about the problem you found, Ginny. It's so frustrating when, after all our work, we find a mistake way back and hours of work are eliminated in a few seconds.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are doing well today Ruth - I'm sorry you missed your appointment. Hopefully you can get the blood work results so you'll know everything is O.K. until you go to the appointment next month. Ginny - I'm glad you get a day without the grandkids, hope you enjoy the break. I've been retired for a little over 3 years now. The sleep experiment didn't work out too well since I had one of my rare nights where I slept for about 6-7 hours straight without getting up. That made me wake up around 7:00 A.M. I did go back to sleep after that, but it was restless sleep. My body is programmed to wake up around 7:30-8:00 now, so I don't know if I'll be able to reset it. I am going to keep not setting an alarm anymore when I don't need to get up to go somewhere. It's a pretty sunny day here, in the 40s, so not too cold. I think we're supposed to get really mild weather this weekend. It's been a strange January. Take care everyone!

CJ, well you'll find out how this works long range once some time goes by and you don't set your clock.I've reset auto awake (in my body) a few times and it workedaand I started getting up earlier but once I started sleeping longer again it went back to the later time. I'm glad you're having milder weather. I went down to the mailbox a few minutes ago and it wasn't bad outside. I'd prefer spring but this is great for this time of year.In the past there have been Januarys where the high for the day was 35 below zero not counting wind chill

Hello everyone, I thought I'd better check in before you send the dogs out to find me. It's been a busy week I had a couple of Dr. appts. and then I went to the lab this morning. I do have a UTI so I had to go back later to pick up a prescription. Someone mentioned having to wait a long time for lab results. I went to the lab about 12 noon today and then went to my Knit Wits gp. I brought Devin home from school and then checked my e-mail and I had the lab results and my Dr. also sent me an e-mail to tell me that he had called in a prescription. I picked up the prescription. So everything was taken care of by 6.30 p.m.
Today I sat between 2 ladies, one was 90 and the other was91 and the both are health and going strong. The one who is 91 is from Japan and drives herself in a beautiful white Cadillac. I sit with her every week. The 90 yr. old said she was very athletic all her life and that's why she is still so healthy. Some of these ladies are very interesting. My DGD told I need to get some younger friends.
I have been knitting trying to get my b/blanket finished and I only have a few rows left. So I might get it finished tonight. I have started another b/blanket it will be rows of granny stitch and stripes of different colors. I have been on U tube looking at patterns and got a few new ideas that I might try. So enough about me.
Ruth, I hope your DDs foot is healing up nicely, Those discount coupons can get you in trouble and then you wind up with a big stash. I don't go for those expensive yarns as I donate almost everything I make and I know most of the people who receive my b/blankets probably do not take care of them. Years ago when I knit with wool I gave all my hand knit baby clothes to a friend and she put them in the washer and dryer. They turned out like felted b/clothes. So it is just as well that I don't know where my b/blankets go.
cj, I keep trying to adjust my time. I stay up too late at night and then I don't want to get up in the morning. I did have to get up early this week because I had medical appt. When I worked I had to be up really early. But I suppose it doesn't matter too much if I am not going any where. I only set my clock if I have an appointment and have to be there on time.
Ginny, I am glad you were able to get DGS outside and let him run off some energy. He probably didn't feel the cold. I hope you enjoyed your time off from caring for your DGKids. I know you love them but a break is always appreciated. Sorry you had to rip out a few rows of your b/blanket. I hope it is all fixed now and that you get it finished in time for the arrival of the new baby.
Phyl, How are you? I hope all is well.
Now I am off and I hope I can finish my b/blanket before I have to go to bed.

Good morning! Well I️ am responding on my phone which is dangerous cause I️ cannot see who posted what before me.
CJ- I️ would think It’s a process getting your body clock to readjust to a new wake up time.years of getting up early for work. Give it Time.... I️ would think that in the course of a few years you will naturally fall I️ to a pattern. My mom had horrible habits and kept crazy hours, some of that was just her and I️ think some of it was her diabetes.(type 2). Do you have an open window (uncovered by a shade or curtain?) what I️ have most recently read is that they think it’s healthy to have a small amount of fresh air for sleeping. And I️ like being able to see natural light. Both of those help me rise more naturally.. but then I️ sleep long on weekends.
Ok.....I️ have rambled in here. Dd just woke up, so I️ will greet her. Ruth , meg and Phyl I️ will be be back shortly to say hi!

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - The board is acting strange today, it keeps freezing up on me. Hope you are having some nice weather today. Ginny - I wouldn't be able to sleep if I had a window open at night, I'm always scared of someone breaking in the house. Meg - I'm sorry to hear about the UTI. I hope the medication clears it up for you. I used to have to get up early when I was working too and I'm not a morning person, so I really enjoy sleeping later. Phyl - Hope you are doing well. All my talk about my sleeping is funny because for the last few nights I haven't slept the way I normally do The weather here was nice today, in the low 60s and partly cloudy/partly sunny. I finished going through some quilting websites I'd read about in one of the magazines I was looking at this week, so now I need to tear out the patterns I want to keep and throw out the rest of the magazine. This keeps them from building up around the house. Take care everyone!

We always have a fan going in the summer but no windows open in the bedroom. There is usually one open in the family room which is right outside the bedroom though and it has a fan in it. I wouldn't have a window open in the winter for sure.I used to cut crochet patterns out of magazines but then I had a huge collection of torn out articles and never used them so I finally went thru and got rid of almost all of them and kept only the ones I was sure I'd use. Now I collect them on the computer only. I'm glad your weather is pretty good CJ. It's only in 30's here but that's fine. At least it's not snowing and not much wind
Meg, you are so fortunate to have them send your lab results and to have your doctor also email. When we went to have blood drawn last week we had to fill out the same paperwork we fill out every year and one question is do we want them to contact us. I put email but I've never received an email from them for anything. There is a lab here in town where you can go and have any lab test done without a dr order...of course that's not covered by ins so you have to pay...but the point is they email you the results. I did ask at the lab we went to and the tech said they don't email. And it's really good that you got your med right away too. With what happened before when you ended up in ICU, it's essential that you start med immediately. As for younger friends, well you probably don't need younger ones because you have your dgd and Devin. It's good for us as we age to have older friends, in my opinion, because it keeps us reminded that even when people are in 90's some can function well both physically and mentallky. It's inspiring
Well I have three people that I'm making things for for March. For one I'm making two things. I have one done and I started the other today and it's nearly finished too. So I don't think that, at this point, I'll have trouble getting all of the March projects done. Now if only Ginny was retired she would have the time I do and her blanket would be done.
Ginny, I do hope you have a wonderful weeked with your dd and that you will have enough time to crochet that you can get your blanket back to where it was before you had to frog.
Phyl, I hope you're doing ok. When is your hip surgery? I was thinking that you said it was in January but I guess not since January is nearly over. As Ginny said on Monday, time flies it seems.
Well back to crocheting. After dh gets up I want to make him another carrot cake.If his blood work comes back bad then I'll have to try to get him to eat healthier but for now he can enjoy his favorites.

After a long day, I am back. Don’t ask me why when I post from the phone all the capital “I” is a square, which looks pretty funny. CJ- sorry that the open window option is not something you can use.If you could get up at any time at all, when would that be? Its a great idea to go through all those patterns and get rid of the magazines- takes up so much less space! And a nice way to get some crafting in. Meg. So glad that you got those lab results so quickly and are treating the UTI. Hope you got to it before it became painful for you. Well, I am going to agree with Ruth about friends- I think its good to have both older and younger friends. Hey, its just a good idea to have some friends you can count on! My 97 year old aunt was driving and pretty much doing everything until she suffered 2 strokes in December. My MIL was also completely independent and driving herself until she fell ill at the age of 92. Think my mom was 87- and still driving when she fell and broke her hip. Were you able to finish that baby blanket last night? Ruth, did you make that carrot cake? Now that the blood work is over he might as well enjoy it! Guess you got a one month reprieve....being that the doctor appt is in February. I love how organized you are making gifts for your family!! What are you working on now? Are you organized with your computer collections of patterns? I would think it would be so easy to have them sorted by category- so you could access them any time. How is DD doing- have you heard from her since the day after her procedure? Phyl, I figure its good news that you have not posted- hope you are feeling good and getting ready for the next procedure. We look forward to hearing from you when you can stop in to say hello. Well, I guess I am the only nut- I do like a little fresh air and a much cooler bedroom to sleep in. Dh likes the bedroom like a sauna. Most days I manage to crack a window open to make it easier for me to sleep. Got to the quilt store and picked out some fabrics- very happy with what I got. And I have $10 left on the gift card! Dh drove there - so I did get some crochetting done then. I have a lot of work to catch up to where I was, but I have figured out away to avoid making the mistake again. Happy about that. Yes, Ruth if I were retired I would be able to get this baby afghan done much more quickly. Hope everyone is having a good Saturday. G

Ginny, my dh likes the bedroom cool and he uses only one blanket where I use five. No I didn't make the carrot cake today after all. I'll make it tomorrow and have a couple other things to cook also. I did hear from my dd the day after her procedure when she showed me her throat. Haven't heard from her since but she's posting on facebook so sounds like everything is fine now.She was going to quick care to have the throat looked at but she changed her mind.
I'm glad you found the fabric you liked. Another thing on your list.
yes on the computer under my bookmarks I have folders for every category of pattern and then I have folders for things I'm working on currently such as for the imminently arriving birthdays and holidays. Some of the folders were so full I went thru and eliminated some patterns but some are sill horribly full and the bad thing is you have to click on them to really see what they are. Some I did change the name to show more exactly what they are more clearly
Oh I did find out that the pattern I'm using for potholders actually has a name. It's the thermostitch which makes sense. The Bible cover I was going to make has that stitch so that's where I found out what it was called but now I'm not going to make that particular Bible cover after all because it has just too many parts to sew or crochet together for right now. I may work on that one later but I'll make my dgd a different one. And I'm not sure what size to make it but they have lots of Bibles so I'm sure whatever size I make it, it will fit one of them
