Well it's sure been quiet here on the board today. I thought maybe Meg would stop in this evening but I guess she's enjoying knitting and then reading or listening to an ebook while knitting.
Haven't accomplished much in the way of crafting today. I was looking at patterns for fingerless gloves and on Pinterest the ones I really liked were either in another language, no longer availabe, or ones that were for sale. There was one especially that I really would have like to have but the woman charges $5.50 for each of her patterns. That's just too much in my opinion. so I went back to my list in bookmarks and started a pair for the 4 year old dgs. I didnt get too far on it and it's really easy and it's small but I don't even have half the first glove done yet. I mostly took a break from crocheting today. I didn't get the other things done that I had planned due to staying in the "winter quarters". It's to be warm tomorrow so I can work on all the things I didn't get done.Dh wants another carrot cake (come on over Meg and have some) and I need to make some pasta to go with the sauce I made yesterday and I might even make some more calzones with the two ingredient dough.I would try the gluten free rolls for me but I need to stay away from carbs for a couple days.Got back to within one pound of my desired weight but ate things today that aren't really on my plan so have to get that pound off.Or at least make sure I haven't gained. Keeping the weight off is certainly a challenge.
I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend. See you tomorrow

Well, the resident blabbermouth is back! Sorry, yesterday just blew up in my face, I drove an extra route mid day, and then Dh and I decided to go out for dinner. The first place we tried was closed (as in closed forever) so we went in the opposite direction. While heading that way I started texting Dd #1- who, honestly needed some emotional support. Her girflfriend, (would consider her her best friend at that) got the results from the PET scan and they are not encouraging. Its stage 4 breast cancer which has spread to her lungs. Treatable, not cureable. She meets with her oncologist this week.
Got a minimal amount of work done on the fg. Hope to finish this pair tonight, and then start another pair tomorrrow.
Heading out with Dd #2 for a short errand. Will stop back in later on to see who has checked in. Wishing each of you a very happy weekend G

Oh Ginny, I'm so sorry your dd's best friend got such bad news. I'm not surprised though. It didn't sound good. Breast cancer at a young age is almost always the worst.
After that everything else sounds trivial but it's still cold today even though it was predicted to be warmer. It snowed again during the night but seems to be melting now so it may be warming up. I haven't heard if my dgd got here yet or not. I haven't started working on the fg yet today. I was weeding out my fg list in bookmarks. Some of the patterns I had saved there I just wonder what ever made me think I would want to make so I deleted. List is much more manageable now but still long.Sometimes I make a while separate list of the most favorite ones of the whole list.

Hello Crafters Ginny - I'm glad you finished the bus seating chart. Even though it sounds like it's difficult I'm sure it's a wonderful tool to have. I hope a lot of states/counties do that. I'm so sorry to hear about the friend of your DD, I will keep her in my prayers. I had two friends diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer around the same time. One of them had stem cell treatment and is cancer free many years later. The other friend sadly passed away. Cancer is such a terrible disease. Ruth - Hope your snow melts and you get some warmer weather. I have so many bookmarks and folders saved on my computer. And I really only look at probably about 1% of them daily! I'm glad you finished the cap too. I hear you on keeping the weight off, it's a daily struggle for me. I haven't been doing much, just some reading. I was overeating the last two days and it just made me feel miserable, I wish I could quit doing it to myself. The weather here is cloudy and cold but we avoided the snow and rain, so I'm really happy about that. Take care everyone!

One of the biggest problems is that there are so manytypes of breast cancer. Some can be treated by certain medications, some by radiation and some really are not curable at all or the "cure" may just be temporary. Sometimes when breast cancer is at stage 4 all that can be done is palliative care...treating the symptoms, hopefully shrinking the tumor a littel temporarily in order to diminish other symptoms. Biologicals and stem cell treatments work miracles in certain cases but are not effective at all in others.
It did get warmer today and snow has mostly all melted by it still didn't get very warm and wind is bad but what can you do. Just have to take advantage of it all and do other things that we can do in the weather we have.

Hell everyone, I don't know where the day has gone. I did get up late because I stayed in bed and read my book. The weather is very nice here at the moment. We had rain yesterday and more is expected in a few days. I almost decided to stay home yesterday but I got my rain coat out and my knitting and went anyway and I was glad I went. Today I went to JOAnns as I needed to get some yarn to finish my 1 b/blankets I am working on. Tonight I will knit or crochet I haven't made up my mind. It's a quiet day here as Devin has gone to his other Grandmas for the weekend. I have tried to read all your posts.
Ginny, I hop the kids all like your new seating arrangement. Too bad if they don't.
Ruth, I am glad you finished your octopus hat. I am sure it will be loved by whoever gets it. You really do some interesting projects.
I am sneezing a lot. I have a hedge that is blooming and I think that's the cause.
I will do my best to check in tomorrow. I might even go to church in the morning.
Hope you sleep well good night,

I did make the mug cozy for my dd. Stillhave to sew on the button but that won't take long. The only other crafting I've done is trying to decide which of all the gloves on my list I want to make soon. I could start the Christmas tree skirt or I could work on one of the many baby blankets that are started but I think this evening fingerless gloves.
Ginny, i saw a pattern for little "scrubbing bubbles" Remember those from the tv commercials. So they have a pattern for them in bath toys. At some point I'm going to make some for the grandchildren and great grands.Still haven't started on the little stuffed octopuses but may just cross that off my list. Well since you have grands I thought I'd mention the bath toys.
I'm sure CJ and Ginny are snoozing by now. I hope you're having a good weekend, Meg

Oh there you are Meg. I'm glad to see you. I'm glad you got some rain too. I know your state needs it...just not too much but enough to get out of draught mode. I'm glad to hear you got out to Knitwits yesterday. It's good to get out sometimes. I'm a homebody myself and really don't like going out at all. "They" think all of us older folks NEED to get out but I think we only need to get out if we actually enjoy being out and have a hard time doing so.I LOVE being at home.I know you enjoy seeing the others while knitting.

Happy Sunday!!
CJ- I really wonder why we do these things to ourselves. You mentioned that you had been challenged to stay on program for the past few days...and we all know how GOOD it feels when we eat right and avoid junk. Yet, I think everyone has those times where self control just flies out the door and that not so program friendly food is just way too tempting. Try not to beat yourself up over this- you are doing such a good job of maintaining yourself at or very close to goal weight. I wonder if there is somethng you could do to break your mindset- perhaps getting out to a craft fair/quilt show, maybe even picking up an issue of WW magazine to inspire you to get back into your winning ways. So glad you did not get any snow or rain! For a while the weather folks sure made it sound as though Saturday was going to be a horrible mess for us east coast folks. I did hear yesterday that we have one more week of this cooler winter like weather, and that at the end of the week it will seem much more like spring. Hope that is an encouragement to you too.
Ruth. Thanks for the input on breast cancer. Unfortunately, I do not know which form she has. A year and a half ago, when her therapy ended she should have gone for the mastectomy, which she turned down because she was afraid of the procedure. From a conversation with Dd, it seems as though her friend will have her ovaries removed, and she is hoping that they will treat her cancer with an oral chemo- one that is used for post menopausal women. Of course, having her ovaries removed will make her post menopausal. But she does not know yet what her oncologist will say and what treatment will be the best for her. Its an awful story....I should see her parents ( at the very least her dad, her mom might stay home as she has had some health issues too) at church in a little bit.
Its cold here, 25 degrees, so I will have to dress warmly for church. I washed my first pair of fg yesterday (I have worn them for a few days to see how they held up). And they came out of the wash well...so will continue to finish the other pair for a coworker. I love them in that they are an easy and quick project and use up yarn that I had here anyway.
Hope Meg and Phyl are doing well Ginny

Ok! What a silly glitch this web site has. I refreshed it before I posted....and neither Ruths last 2 posts and Megs were here. Now they are ....glad they were able to check in.
Meg- glad you got out. Hope you had a coupon or that Joanns had the yarn on sale. Can you finish the skein you just bought on this project? (Would be nice to have no leftover yarn). Hope you get out to church this am. I am sure it is quiet without Devin, but also probably allows you to focus on other thingst that you might like to do. What a blessing that you and Devin are so close, but also nice that this one weekend, you get a break.
Ruth, thanks for the idea on the scrubbing bubbles! I will have to check them out...see if that is a project I want to take on. I would gather they are not too difficult and are great for using up small amounts of yarn. You are so right, we all do need to get out!! Its important for everyone to socialize and just see different things from time to time.

Happy Sunday to you too, Ginny and to CJ, Meg, PHyl and anyone else who is reading.
So far today I haven't really done a whole lot. I did push the button on the washing machine that was already loaded, I put a roast beef in the slow cooker, and then made the ball part and three of the tentacles for the little octopuses that I did decide to make after all. I pulled out the two tentacles that wouldn't fit on the hat and am using that yarn. These little octo's are very easy and the tentacles part is easy too..just curliques into a ring and then you just sew the ring onto the ball and walaaa...an octo.Oh and three stitches for eyes. You can use the safety eyes which I do have but I don't know exactly how safe they are so I'm making kind of embroidered eyes. I do still need to wrap dds presents.
Meg, we're saving a piece of carrot cake for you so come on over.
CJ, I have no doubt you'll be back on track. I second all that Ginny said... she is very eloquent and said it all much better than I could
See you all later after my octopus manufacturing is done.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Meg - I sometimes read for a bit in the morning before I get up too Ginny - Hope you get some warmer weather soon. Ruth - Hope you enjoy your roast beef, I cooked a pork roast in the slow cooker today. It's a pretty sunny day here, but only around 50 degrees. I've been watching the Master's Golf today. When I was younger I used to play golf. I haven't been out for years and watching made me remember that I enjoyed it (even if I wasn't that good ). Maybe I'll get out again someday. Take care everyone!

Good evening!!
Well, Ruth some days we do a lot and some days we kind of rest....guess today is one of those days for you. Glad you found and easier pattern for octopuses- the other one was adorable but a ton of work.
CJ- gee, would you take yourself to a driving range to get back into the “swing of things”? Its ok that you were never good at it, there are lots of things we all do for pleasure that maybe we are not very good at but can still enjoy. Even at that, its still nice to watch the game that you once played. My Dh watches a LOT of baseball for the same reason.
Got some crochetting done today- fg #1 is done and now I am winding the yarn into a ball because I am getting toward the end of the skein.
I am taking a class tomorrow- will stop in early to start us off and then will not be here until evening. Have a good night all! G

CJ, It was nice here too earlier but about 3pm temp started to drop and it rained a lot...well a lot for here. Golf was never something that I did but I did watch some on tv. My sil took up golf one year. He takes up all kinds of things and never sticks to them. My dh isnt interested in any sports either to participate in or watch on tv.
Ginny, i hope the class isn't too boring or too irritation tomorrow. Have had to take classes and I'm sure CJ did too, we know that sometimes it's not a pleasnt experience to have to sit all day listening to someone drone on and the worst is when they want us to role play. I'm glad I don't havve to do that anymore.
Yes making these little octos is much easier than making the complicated hat. These are two pieces.. The hat was 22 pieces
Get a good night's sleep everyone and I'll see you tomorrow.
