You;re very welcome Phyl. Wish I could be of more help but even doctors have to see you and have tests. don't know what question you're referring to because I asked several but I would take it this is a new thing and you don't have any of the symptoms I asked about. I hope it turns out to be nothing more than a lab error. Maybe a typo.

Good morning! I am very thankful that we have Ruth here to provide friendly guidance when she can on our medical issues. Its hard to diagnose over the internet....but she takes a good try at it non the less....I agrree, Phyl - chat with your doctor to see what these numbers mean. Of course your MD knows the whole picture, meds you might be on etc....I hope it does not interefere with your upcoming procedure.
Ruth-Good to hear that you had some spring like weather. Increase activity slowly if you are not used to it. GUess you will be doing some of that dreaded yard work. My condolences.
CJ- the machine I ordered for my friend is a brother. This LQS sells brother and husqvarna. I ordered a SB53OT model. Its a basic machine but provides options for a beginning quilter. I wanted to stick with a local dealer as I know my friend does not have a lot of experience and she will be able to get support from the store. Her daughter also has an older brother....again her Dd might be able to assist at times. Of course, I will help when I can too.
Hope our Meg is ok and got to knit wits yesterday.
Gotta get in the shower and then get dressed to go to the dentist. A crown is loose... BBL Ginny

Well you never know whta you will find in your walk of life. I went to the dentist and the receptionist was selling these adorable crochetted tooth pillows- its a white pillow (in the shape of a tooth with a small pocket on the back) that a child would use to put under their pillow for the tooth fairy. She was selling them for $7, but is giving me the directions. Such a sweet idea.... I will see if I can find a link for a similar project to post here.
BTW- the tooth has to be extracted. Will call the oral surgeon on Monday when his office opens.
Looks like a nice day here. Got a little bit of time in on the fg. Getting ready to start working on the cuff of each- and adding the thumb. As DGD is in that age where she is losing teeth, I might just jump on the pillow pocket project to get a head start. G

Good morning all. No I don't even attempt to diagnose anyone. For that you need to see the person and have tests. Plus I'm not a doctor or even a PA or NP. But I can give some possibilities. One I forgot is certain medications which can affect blood cells and bone marrow which is the main organ (yes bone marrow is considered an organ) that produces blood cells
Ginny, sorry about the bad news on the tooth. When I last had a tooth extracted the dentist used a very new technique and it worked great. The time before another dentist cracked my jaw while pulling a tooth but that was way back in probably late 90's. I'm sure that never happens anymore. And also that was not a good dentist.
Yes I did a little yard work yesterday and will do some more today. I also did inside "gardening". I repotted my very large pony tail plant. I bought it a few years ago as one of those tiny plants in walmart and now it's almost a tree and in this new pot, if the repotting doesn't shock it too much, it will grow even larger. Guess dh hasn't noticed yet or he would have said I should have had him help me.
Day before last when I checked my seeds to see if any had germinated I found that I had tiny thyme plants, Yesterday found all the seeds coming up except zucchini. I thought they would be first. Even tomatoes have popped thru. I just planted them on the 16th so that was pretty fast. So I planted some chives yesterday to see if they will grow. I've tried them in the past a couple times and had no luck with them.I need to go to the dollar store and get some more containers and some basil seeds. I thought I still had a lot of those seeds but I don't. I can see that I'm going to be very busy during the summer watering things. It's very dry here so outdoor plants need watered at least every day and the indoor ones too.
Outdoors I see no sign of life in my Russian sage plant so I'm hoping it will start growing. I love those plants. If it doesn't revive I hope they have some again this year at walmart. I need to get my silver dollar plant seeds in the ground too but I know there's going to be at least one more snowstorm before real spring gets here. And I need to think about where I'll plant the zucchini in the event that the plants pop thru and grow. However zucchini is another thing I've never had luck with.I keep trying though.

Second post for the morning Ginny, I've seen patterns for those tooth pillows and have intended to make some. However the grandchildren are getting past the losing teeth age except for the little boys who are 4 and the other 5 months so I need to get busy and make a couple for them even though it will be awhile before they start losing teeth. The youngest, of course probably doesn't even have teeth yet.And what a smart idea that woman has to sell the tooth pillows at a dentist office I worked on fingerless gloves again yesterday. I have two pairs of the ones that use the bow done but not the bows. Then I'm going to make one that looks like a bow is crocheted right in. I havent read the pattern yet so I'm not sure. Ok I'm going to go look at that pattern for the tooth fairy pillow

Not really worried about the extraction. My oral surgeon is very good- he likes to take on more challenging cases and is very professional. I have to go see him for a follow up on the work I had done last year, so I will do that at the same time.
Ruth, glad you have had some good germination of your seeds. I wonder if you bought zucchini plants if you would have better luck. I seem to remember we had the same conversation last year.. regarding the silver dollar seeds, I wonder if one last snow would hurt them. Guess the the best thing to do is check online. I knowI have silver dollar plants up- some must have wintered as they are very large already, and this was a tough winter. But the plants are huge- which tells me they had to be somewhat alive during the harsh winter.
I did some yard work. Would rather be crochetting which I will do tonight. G

All the problems I've had with zucchini plants up to now have actually been on plants I bought. The plants themselves grow wonderfully and they get plenty of blossoms but then the blossoms fall off and no fruit appears. I've even taken a fine brush and polinated them myself to make sure they were pollinated. So will try again. Yes I think I'll plant the silver dollars tomorrow. For the past few hours I've been working in the yard and did make a place for the silver dollars to go. Thank you for sending the seeds, Ginny. Today I was working on getting rid of the long grass along the wood that dh put at the edges of our flower beds years ago and cleaning up the debris that accumulated. I have a lot more of the grass and weeds to work on. the flower bed is very long and I do have one side almost done and will finish that and work on the other side tomorrow. It got away from me last year when I couldn't do anything out there because of the IC flareup. I also shoveled up dirt and gravel that was push into my lawn but the snowplows..Still have more of that to do too in the back yard.I never was a fan of yard work. It's nice to have nice flowers, bushes, etc but I hate all the work that has to go into it. So anyway, condolences to you, too Ginny on having to do yardwork also
Now I'm really getting worried about Meg. I hope it's just computer problems or she's just been very busy.
CJ, how's your day going?
Phyl, you did have a great day going to all those quilt stores I'm sure. sounds like a good time was had by all.
Now I think I will just sit and crochet the rest of the day and read some of my book that just became available.

Yup, me too, I am concerned about Meg. In the past she has also had some computer woes, perhaps that is all. I sure hope she is ok!
Letting the outside work go for a year really sets makes it more difficult. Having lost gardening years like that becasue of issues in the family (basically my mother’s health or kids sports) - well when you finally do get back out there it seems to be an untamable jungle and is very discouraging.
Ruth, I hope that you find a solution for zucchini. I have always had good luck with germination when I grew it- hope that you do too and can finally grow some squash. Yard work just seems to be so never ending. And so frustrating for that reason.
Got the last of the skein of yarn I am working on untangled last night, so later on today I can go back to working on the fg. G

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Phyl - I hope your doctor will be able to tell you more about your test results, it's frustrating to have to wait so long. I'm glad you had a good time going to the quilt shops. It's such much fun to see all the fabrics and new products. Ginny - That machine looks like it would be great for a new quilter, I hope she likes it. The tooth fairy pillow is so cute. Ruth - Hope you will finish your yard work soon. I hate yard work, I just don't have a green thumb or desire to work outside. Several of my family members love it and they have beautiful yards with lovely landscaping. So I just enjoy their yards when I visit them Meg - Hope you are doing well. I went to the Celtic Festival yesterday and had a great time. It was beautiful weather and I enjoyed hearing the bagpipes and going through all the vendor's wares. I bought some mugs, a decorative box, a decorative small flag for the yard, a tea towel (which I might try to add into a quilt), and lots of food It was warm and sunny yesterday and now today it's really chilly, about a 20 or more degree drop in temperature. I like the cooler weather, so I'm happy about that. Take care everyone!

CJ- sounds like you had a great day yesterday!! Perfect weather and a really nice time- plus good eats!!! You probably walked off a lot of your festival food, the day must have been a lot of fun. Now you have cooler weather to enjoy. I am sure you will be able to work that tea towel into a quilt- which might require another trip to a fabric store for supplies. Oh well, someone has to do it...;0
We still have cooler weather here, but it supposed to be in the 80’s later on in the week. Yuck. G

CJ, that festival sounds like a lot of fun. I'd be more interested in the vendors too. They have some good food at those events and I'd also probably buy mugs. Sounds like the weather was perfect for it too.
Ginny, having yarn tangle like that is a real annoyance and having to take the time to untangle it all is also.I hope you're having a good weekend. Weekends can seem very short sometimes especially if there are things that we HAVE to do that take up the time we would like to use for just relaxing. How are the fingerless gloves for your friend coming along? How is your dd's family feeling after their illness? I hope the baby didn't get whatever it was.
Yesterday's work in the yard resulted in a very painful calf for the rest of the day so Im not finishing it today.I'll just rest my legs. I don't know why that happened either because most of my work was done while sitting. So today Im just sitting once again and working on fingerless gloves which should be done soon because they're for the 6 year old dgd so are small. Then I'm going to make a couple pairs of those mittens. I figure if I make two pairs a week which shouldn't be hard, I'll definitely meet my goal of 20 pairs by fall. I think I'll set aside one day a week for working on things I'm planning to donate.Mittens, fgs and cowls seem like the perfect things...that way hands and necks will be warm.
It's still a nice day today but cooler than yesterday and it's windy. Rest of the next two weeks is to be in 50's and 60's with a couple 70's thrown in. I'll take this weather any time...it's perfect.
OK, back to work

Hello everyone,
Sorry I haven't been here for about a week. It has been a busy week but I have found time to do some crafting. I finished another b/blanket. I stayed up late last night working on it. Now I have 2 finished and I need to wash them and they will be ready to go. Now I am trying to decide what I will do next. I checked Pinterest this morning for inspiration. and I think I have decided on the colors yellow, white and creamsicle. I do have these 3 colors and may have enough to complete this b/blanket. I like to have 2 projects to work on so I was thinking about a chevron stitch blanket. I haven't crocheted one of those for years and I hope I can find the pattern I know I have it somewhere. I do have a lot of yarn so I hope I don't have to buy any.
Phyl, I am sure you would like to get your hip surgery over with. I have had a problem with my left hip for a couple of days but it feels better today. Getting old is not for sissies
Ginny, I didn't go to Knit wits on Friday as my car was in the shop to get the brakes fixed. Knit Wits didn't meet on Fri as the Library room we meet in was having some repair work done. So some of the ladies met for lunch but I didn't get to that either. I have had some computer problems and my DS did some research and found out that some people have the same problem and it is something to do with windows 10. I have never liked windows 10 and a lot of people have had problems. I suppose they will come out with a new windows program eventually. That was a wonderful thing to do for a friend, I am sure she will really appreciate her new machine.
Ruth, are you still having snow ? we had a hot spell in the 80s but it has cooled down and we have been in the 60s and low 70s. I am wearing a sweat shirt today. I hope your calf feels better today. I know that can be very painful. Take care.
cj, a Celtic fair sounds like fun and I am glad the weather was good and that you had a good time.
I guess you have heard of the rapist / killer being arrested in Sacramento. He lived very close to where I live. I also remember in the 70s & 80s when he was breaking into homes here in my area. I am so glad that they finally caught him. He was known here as the East area rapist now they call him the Golden state rapist.
Now I am off to start working on something and I have an audio book waiting for me.
Have a good evening.
Ruth, I haven't heard of a tooth pillow so I will have to check them out.

Meg, I'm so glad to see you here. We're worrywarts so were concerned about you. I heard about them finding that rapist killer and wondered if he had lived near you and if his crimes were committed in your area. I'm glad you got the brakes fixed. It's usually a costly thing but well worth it for your safety and the safety of Devin who rides with you. Your new baby blanket colors sound really nice. I have those same colors in pound of love so may make one or more in those also. I also like the looks of gray in a baby blanket now since I've seen that combo on Pinterest. I also want more of the antique white pound of love so ordered some today from Micheals who was having a sale although their 40% coupon didnt cover that yarn since it was on sale so I have another coupon program that did take some extra off and it was free shipping. I actually need to use some more of this yarn up instead of buying more but as you said, there are so many new and nice ones that I would like to try and I really do like the antique white. I'm thinking of making a blanket with the pattern Ginny sent with the what I think of now as the ugly pink color...its the one I told you about that Lion was selling so cheaply...breast cancer pink supposedly. I know you bought some and I bought a lot and I guess Im just getting tired of looking at it so now it doesn't look pretty to me. Mixed with other colors I think it will be fine and that particular pattern I think it will look great. Someone will like it anyway.
Again, glad you stopped in.
