It's been raining here. I slept so well! DH came up at 6pm to get me up. I have to leave at 7:30. I'm usually up by 3:30 or 4. I've actually slept late every day this week....but it was because I went to bed later than usual.
I am suffering from terrible brain fog at the moment. Sinuses? Sleep hangover? Hormones? Who knows! Will try to post when I'm more coherent.

BECKY the guy explains the NO SECONDS as whatever you want that will fit in ONE plate and you can't go back for more. So theoretically if you wanted all salad or all meat etc... you COULD but should you? But since there is NO SNACKING it has to be 1 MEAL (of anything you want that would fit into 1 plate w/o seconds OR ADDED SUGAR). So essentially he says what you said both ways. Walking like you do w/ the holes would scare me. I'm klutzy enough and can trip over my shadow let alone a hole! As it is I tend to walk with my head down looking right at my feet! STEPH I agree about RUdy's moist brisket v lean. And RUDY'S is my favorite chain BBQ. I LOVE their Rudy's Chopped brisket. VERY ZIPPY. It also sounds like your DB and DSIL will be MUCH better for being apart. It sounds toxic for both. COnnie when I wake up from a really good sleep, it takes my brain a while to start fully functioning. Like maybe 13 hours Well off to the 5 de Mayo.

Steph The day we went to RR was the same day the police officer had his funeral and not having been around RR in awhile Rudy's was where we wound up.They let us taste samples and Kenneth tasted the moist and I tasted the turkey.I knew it would be too expensive for me to get the turkey and him get brisket.I told him if we went back we would get the cutter's choice. He liked it though.I shouldn't have to make any more trips to RR since I had injections in both knees which I wouldn't do again or recommend both done at the same visit.Happy Birthday to your DH.You both are still young.Kenneth liked the sample of cream corn he tried at Rudy's.I'm sorry about your brother. So sad.
Celeste I always have my main meal in one plate but I also have blackberries and a small container of Chobani ff plain Greek yogurt which won't fit in the one plate.Like tonight with the 1/2 pork chop(which turned out so good)and 1/2 baked potato I definitely needed the fruit & yogurt.I will more than likely have 1 or 2 snacks tonight...Protein bar and maybe sf dark chocolate pudding unless I get really hungry. If we go to Rudy's again I will either get the lean brisket or the chopped. We were just surprised everything was sold by 1/4 or 1/2 lb.I know the holes are there some I'm sure were made by the cattle so I know to go around them but the ground is just so uneven it hurts more some days. You aren't going to wait and go to the Sinko de mayo???Today is an S day but since you are so motivated with this lifestyle you will do well.
We have 2 BBQ restaurants in Elgin. One you don't see anyone you know in there b/c everyone is from out of town and their prices are really steep. The one we like the best has a senior plate where you get reduced amount of your choice of meat...brisket(It's always leaner with a little fat in it but not greasy),hot sausage(which is what Elgin is best known for)or turkey. The turkey sometimes is dry so I always choose beans as my side. It's all you can eat beans but I never get more than one serving.I haven't really been in the mood for BBQ since last Wednesday.

Hi all. Hope everyone is doing well. I skimmed through the posts- laughed at the sinko de mayo!! Typed a post and it went into cyberspace somewhere.
Thought I heard Celeste scream - did she find a tick? We have them all the time. Remember Lyme disease - Lyme CT. We do tick check every time we are in the yard. We do have deer come through periodically- love to eat my plants.
DH and I went for lobster bisque and lobster rolls today. Took a ride to the shoreline to our favorite outdoor lobster place. They opened for the season yesterday. Nice day today - @ 75, sunny and breezy. LOTS of pollen. Supposed to have showers tomorrow. Hopefully will wash some of the pollen away.
Weighed myself today and even with the cast, I seem to be down a little. I'll know for sure once I lose this thing. My arm is so itchy, I can't wait to be able to really scratch it!> I have been using a long, spongy emery board. Fits in perfectly and it does work at least for a short period of time.
Okay, night all. Check in tomorrow.

Late fly by ~~~
Got home, unpacked, & got laundry almost done. Got a text from DHs sister on our way home (8 hr drive) that their dad called her saying he had been admitted to the hospital for double pneumonia. She just left there this morning after being home for a week while the other brother was out of the country on a trip. All he told her before she left was that he was tired. He then proceeded to do a couple of errands & go to a funeral! Felt worn out & dizzy, so drove himself home. (Arghhhh!!!) Some of the residents in his complex helped him to his apartment then called an ambulance. DH talked to him when we got home .... he is on IVs & meds, still feels weak & tired...but a bit better than earlier. We will go up tomorrow to visit & assess the situation. The other brother gets back tonight from his trip, so that is a plus. I’m a bit concerned about a 95 yr old going back home alone...suggested to DH that we may need to consider some home health care or investigate asssisted living options at the nursing home. Time will tell.
I’m pooped....ready for a good night of sleep in my own bed.
Waves to all ~~~goodnight 😴

I behaved pretty well considering I knew it was an S day. I stayed away from the appetizers completely. I did have 2nd on SALAD only and everything was on 1 plate (including 1sts in salad). BUt I kept thinking how the guy wants us NOT to be NO S on S days. I Did have 1 sopapilla for dessert. 1 beer. All in all I was exceedingly well behaved as far as food. One good thing was I did NOT eat mindlessly and that was due to NO S! I'd ask myself if I could have seconds and the answer was NO except for salad. Did I want dessert? Yes please a small piece. I'm satisfied. Not full. And I really enjoyed my food! That's the big part. I didn't overeat but enjoyed what I DID eat.
Tonight's food was catered by a kind of upscale Mexican place. Very good. Once it cooled down all 40 of us were out on the patio to eat, but it was kind of warm until about 7 so we started out in the house. They have a VERY large house. And their patio is almost as big as my entire house. Funny at my age I was interested in downsizing. They came from a TINY house and way UPSIZED. Whatever makes one happy!
BECKY I find most BBQ turkey too dry for my liking and I don't like slathering things in BBQ sauce so I tend to prefer brisket or sausage myself, b/c it's inherently moister. But if you like spicy (I mean not KILLER spicy) that Rudy's Chop chopped brisket is moist, not too fatty and full of flavor. Bob puts his on that white bread and makes him a sandwich w/ a little bit of cole slaw on top.
Well I'm going to get ready for bed. I have to say I sure do like living in my little house in my neighborhood in my community. Best decision I made since moving to TX.

OH MY GOSH JT I knew Lyme disease originated in Lyme CT but why didn't you KEEP IT THERE? And oh lordy the famous CINCO DE MAYO LOBSTAH ROLLS AND BISQUE!! Nothing says MEXICO like lobster rolls haha Trust me I'd give up all the Mexican food in the world for some good lobstah rolls!! And GIRL MY ALLERGIES were off the hook today. You can see the crap drifting in the breeze. Good for you for maybe being down! Especially b/c you also can't exercise normally. WOW ANGIE on his pneumonia. Last time I had it all I felt was wrung out. Not a lot of coughing. Just like I had zero energy and I was NOT 95. Scary. Positive thoughts go out his way... and for you and DH too!

JT we do the tick check every time we cime in from a walk. Lu looks at me like...how undignified...as i check her belly, legs etc. I've seen 3 varieties of ticks this year.
CELESTE there are always serving platters... Today- an Sday and had dessert at a birthday party. It was good,but...well, I love a good piece of cake or sugar cookie, or pie or fruit cocktail cake or... but it's like my desire for it is not as compelling. Weird.
Part of the house is cleaned, I'll finish it tomorrow.

SUZE AND JT are reminding me of Brad Paisley's song "I'd Like to Check You for Ticks." And USUALLY w/ your cake or my sopapilla, I would pass, no matter if I wanted it or not. And then feel like I was missing out. SANDY I came home from that party and walked into my A/C and felt like I was freezing. My core had gotten so HOT from being outside, and I don't think I even realized it. Bob came home here and sat in his chair under a BLANKET b/c he too felt the discrepancy in temps. Congrats (I THINK B/c that could be a thankless job) to Mark but not surprising. With 2 kids, about to become 3 kids in the system, people know he has a vested interest in excellence in education. And OMG that shows you were my brain is. I thought "Sandy goes to a SOCIAL SECURITY CLASS? ?? I never heard of that." DUH I get it now. Meal 1 is in progress: a pound of bacon cooking in a wok (great way to do up to 3 lbs of bacon at the same time), then it will be avocado toast again w/ fried eggs, side of bacon and 1/2 grapefruit. Meal 2 will be pork chops, salad and asparagus. Meal 3 will be a sandwich, small salad and some halos. May have 2nds. May have snack. Probably won't have sweets b/c that's not my groove dudes.

PS: No we're not eating a pound of bacon! I needed some b/c I'm making a cottage cheese quiche later in the week and I decided to add crumbled bacon. SHEEESH I'm not a BEAST ya know! (who am I kidding? I could eat a pound of bacon in one sitting any day! )

JT If you are a little down with the cast on you will be a lot down without it.That's something to look forward to.
Angie I'm sorry about your DFIL being so ill.I guess it depends on the 95 yo and their mind.We have a 92 yo friend who still goes to dances every weekend(3 nights a week)by himself as he is a widower. He is fairly healthy and young for his age but he still lives by himself. He does have 2 daughters who cook for him b/c the only thing he knows how to cook is oatmeal in the microwave and he could probably scramble eggs.I hope y'all find a solution for Rick's dad.
Celeste I'm glad you enjoyed the party and you did well eating.I really didn't think you were going to eat a whole pound of bacon in one sitting.
Suze Once you start eating different types of food(at least in my case)I find I like the new foods better and I'm satisfied with a few bites of sweets or desserts.I would like them sometimes but I don't crave them. That's probably what's happening with you.
Sandy Congrats to Mark.I'm sure he will do a great job.
We will be having LO pork chops for dinner...our usual 1/2 chop and 1/2 baked tater.I already had my big salad for lunch and I don't eat 2 salads any day.
In 2 weeks we will be having "high attendance" day at church. After church the youth will be serving BBQ.They will be BBQ'ing it along with their club leader on the 19th and they asked for donations and even suggested HEB gift cards so that's what we will do to help out with the cost of meat.

On the road AGAIN....headed toward home. DFIL looks pretty good, feels a bit better, vitals ok....hopes to go home tomorrow if blood count & X-rays continue to improve. He was so happy to see us....glad we made the trip. Becky....thank you! He is an energizer bunny & has done so well all these years....we are all thankful for that. Liked your “y” diet idea 😂 Sandy...good for Mark! Nice to have the younger generation taking an interest & being community leaders. And me too on the jeans!!! Ugh!!! Stuffed sausage with a super sized muffin top! Ick! Connie...blooming flowers ...so good for the soul! We are finally seeing leaves on trees...I think winter is gone for good! Steph....so sorry for you brother & his wife...sounds like there has been so much pain for them. Very sad 😞 JT....you must be on the countdown til you get rid of the cast. The end is in sight! Waves to Suze & Celeste ~~~ Are we there yet? Between yesterday & today it’s 15 hrs on the road..... can you say T B ?!? Ha!

haha BECKY though I COULD eat a pound of bacon in one sitting, even I wouldn't do that. I think I'd be having some major gall bladder issues! We're also having pork chops b/c I have this big pork roast that I need to do SOMETHING with. So pork chops today and I think on Tuesday I'll make calabasitas con puerco. Basically onions, zucchini, blenderized fresh tomatoes, corn and cubed pork in a soupy kind of stew.
UGH ANGIE on that rush road trip. But glad DFIL is doing reasonably well. Every day is an adventure, no?
