Just fine Ruth, Our area was hit very badl- several schools (not mine) will be closed for days. God is good- we kept our power all through it all. Dd lost her power for bout 12 hours, but she is fine now too.
Busy day- taught a 3 hour class in between runs.. Super tired. The end of the year gets like this- but its all over in 5 weeks.
In case I do not get back here have a good night all.....will catch up with each of you tomorrow. Ginny

Ginny, it's good to see you and hear that you didn't lose power. I hope you didn't have any property damage either. Yes teaching a class between runs of picking up and delivering children to school and home must be exhausting. I hope you get a good sleep tonight.I wonder what those schools will do about the days missed in being closed for this storm. Will they have to go extra days at the end to make up the time? If not well then I wish your's was one of the ones being closed for a few days. It they will have to make up days then...well better to just go now and get off for the summer on time.
Finally got the second fingerless glove to the pair made. This week hasn't been a real wanting to crochet week so far. Friday I'm going to finish the weaving in and sewing on appliques where needed and see how many I have for each grandchild then decide if I need to make more to even out the number of pairs each will get or take some out of the mix to "even the score" I haven't made the pair for charity yet today and don't know if I'll get them done tonight (mittens not fg) and if not I'll do them tomorrow but I do want to get at least one a week done.

Good afternoon!
We went out to breakfast with friends so I am getting here late....
Phyl- glad you are feeling better about your decision on the surgery and can now explore all options and do what is best for you. WIll pray for wisdom for everyone...this has to be a tough decision for you.
CJ- I am no expert, but have dealt with contractors before. One idea would be to call a compettor and see what their schedule looks like. That becomes the ammunition you need for the phone call that you might have to make- that being if they do not repair the roof after a certain date you will hire someone else. Also call your insurance company- who I am very sure does not want a larger claim due to additional damage caused by more rain and see if they have any advice or are willing to call the contractor. All in all, I have had some of the same weather as you and know that putting on a new roof might be impossible in the rain and high winds. But I think knowing that there might be another contractor out there who can get the job done more quickly is empowering.. Also, take pics of the place as is, both inside and out. THat way if you get heavy rain tomorrow and more damage results you have it all docuemted. That is also ammuninition for a call to the contractor.
Ruth- well as productive as you are, its perfectly fine that today is a less than productive day for crochet. Congrats on finishing the second fg.
Not sure how those schools who are still closed will handle this. Most districts have a “superintendants day”- which they save when all the snow days are used and an emergency arises. As of right now the last day for us is June 22- which is extended because we used up all our snow days. G

Ginny, excellent advice on dealing with contractors. I will certainly keep it in mind for when I need to deal with one in the future. I know my sil has to be very competitive with prices and doing jobs in a timely manner, and quality of his work in his painting business.
I had a long post all done and it all went "poof"..gone
Well we went out shopping today and it was pretty much a waste of time. Walmart didn't have what I went for and either did the dollar store. We went to that Kroger store and got the money back they overcharged me on Tues but then I bought some more things and they overcharged me again by the same amount. I checked the receipt in the store but I guess I wasn't thinking clearly because while driving home dh saw that they did over charge again. So next time I got I'll have to get that meny back again. Luckily they are good about that. All was not lost though because while at Walmart you know what I bought. I did intend to buy some in teal and then I saw another color I liked and then saw Mandala was on a lowered price and they had a color I liked but they didn't have before.
I did end up making one more glove of a pair last night beside the second one for that other pair. This one I saw on a site where I just went to look at a pair of women's fgs. It's a child size and she made it in Dr Suess colors so it's for my dgs but again....these patterns end up bigger than I think they should be. I even used a smaller hook and made a shorter chain. But he will be five by winter so hopefully his hands will be a little bigger. Maybe his sister who will be 7 will actually use them. They're supposed to fit ages 4-7
So now I'm going to go put things away and make dh some chili. It's warm again today but tomorrow is to be way cooler. I probably shouldn't have put out my zucchini plants yet but if it looks like it's going to be too cold I'll cover them

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - Thanks for your virtual hug and understanding how I didn't want to have to deal with a lot of different companies. I'm sorry your shopping trip today wasn't successful. Hoe you enjoy the chili. Ginny - I'm glad that you didn't get the severe weather that was near you and that you didn't lose power. Thanks for your advice on the roof. I know there isn't much any company can do with the rain we've had forecast this week. Next week does have a few non-rain days forecast. I plan to call the roofers tomorrow and see when I'm on their schedule for and it had better be one of those days next week! Otherwise I will be talking to them about this long wait. It's raining here and cooler so I'm glad not to have the heat and also no strong storms. I haven't been doing much today but reading around on the Internet For awhile now I've been trying to figure out where I'd want to move to and the places I want to go to I just can't afford to live at. So it's been frustrating trying to figure this out. I'll look at homes for sale for a few days and then get "depressed" that I can't afford them and then I wait and try again a few weeks later. I guess I'm going to have to decide where I want to go that I can afford. Take care everyone!

Meg, I checked last night to see if anyone posted. Didn't see your post
CJ, I know what you mean. Now that we're older we're having a hard time keeping things up. We have a huge house and it's too big for just two people and then there's all the maintenance things that need done and it could use some updating too. We have a lot that's over an acre so it's hard to mow all that too. And in winter....doesn't happen often but sometimes we get snowed in. There's also the issue of what if neither of us can drive anymore. There's no public transportation. Plus what if one of us can't manipulate stairs. There's no way into the house without using stairs. But it's like you said...we could sell this house for a huge profit but that still is not enough to pay for another except maybe in the bad part of town with a house that needs way more work than this one.Rents here are astronomical.
Phyl, are you ok?

hi crafters, well 3and 1/2 hours at the clinic yesterday.just though the oncologist would just talk and have us come back.

I have thrombocytsis. means for some reason my body is sending out to much morow. could be a blood disease, infection or possibilty a cancer.
I trusting my doctors and lord on this one.
people start telling me about someone who knows someone it will go out the other ear.
patients and doctors are all different in how they get treated.
don always plants the flowers for me. cannot be in the sun because of the new med.
so I had on margie's straw hat and my jean shorts. must have looked a sight. I had don take pictures. if I knew how to put hem on the puter from the phone and tablet I would put one on here.

Ruth, well I guess you were naughty and bought more yarn! We all know how that goes, if you see the yarn you better grab it, as the next time you are looking for it it might be out of stock or discontinued.. Sorry your issue with Kroegers was resolved and unresolved. It must be frustrating.
Cj- well my guess is that your roof will be repaired within a few days. Feel free to pressure these contractors any way you can, you are paying them for a service- which they should be happy to provide.
Meg, we have all been there, losing a post. Hope you can check back in later.
Hoping for cooler weather. This weekend will be very busy, much busier than I like. I will have to make some catnip stuffed mice , actually little catnip pillows, for the cats to play with. THe one wants to go outside and i prefer she stay in. A new catnip toy would make her happy- I do grow my own catnip. And it might keep her from wanting to go out so much. Also gets me using my machine! Yay. Ginny

Phyl, there are so many causes of thrombocytosis that no matter how many people tell you they had it or know someone that did, it's very possible that not one of them has exactly the same reason for it as you do. You're so right in letting it go in one ear and out the other. Trust your oncologist/hemotologist as they have all the deatils of your specific case. and don't be afraid of asking them questions and taking their time...that's what they're there for. Many oncologists have one or more oncology certified nurses that can help you a lot. They too have access to your own individual case. And it sounds as if the doctors are doing all the appropriate test. And of course, keep trusting in the Lord. He has you in His hand. Sorry you have to wait so long for the results. And, I bet you looked cute in the sun hat and cutoffs.
Ginny, you are so good to your family including the furry ones Sorry your weekend is going to be so busy. Weekends should give us the opportunity to relax but I remember when I was working...same thing. I didn't have weekends off but my days off were busy ones.
And Ginny, you guessed correctly...I was naughty...added more to my already too large stash but I'll work on using it. I keep saving my "good yarn". For what I don't know. I need to use it first so that whatever is left beyond my lifetime and is tossed in the garbage like my sil's mother's yarn,,it will at least be the cheap stuff. Still haven't even got close to starting that scarf you gave the pattern for and we bought yarn at Micheal's for and it doesn't sound like you're started yours either. Those of us that knit and crochet never seem to make anything for ourselves. One of the ladies on the old WW board sent me some diagonal dishcloths because I never got around to making any for myself and she used to make a lot of them. They were the diagonal knitted ones. I know Meg's made a lot of those too.
I think I mentioned that I dug out my summer clothes yesterday and most of them were too large..well I tried a shirt on today that I was saving and it too was too large. I wanted to buy shorts at walmart for wearing around the house... I never go anywhere wearing shorts...but all of the shorts are obviously geared to young teens and that I wouldn't even want my young teens to wear if I still had young teens.

Good evening everyone, I don't remember what I posted last evening but I did answer all posts. I finished the b/blanket I was knitting and just have to weave in a few ends and give it a wash. The b/blanket I am crocheting will be finished soon, I hope. I think it is passed the 1/2 way point. So now I am thinking about a new project. Years ago I crocheted several chevron afghans then I lost my pattern which was very easy and I haven't crocheted one in years. Recently I found the pattern I like on UTube and I have been refreshing my memory. So I might make a b/blanket using that stitch. I like to have 2 projects on the go.
Phyl, I think you are getting good medical care and probably they wont find anything too serious so leave it in Gods hands and relax. I had a lot of test not too long ago and I do remember something about bone marrow. I have been doing really well recently, no Dr. appts which I don't mind. Gardening will keep you busy. Take care.
Ruth, I have made very few dish cloths as I don't like using them. A man at church asked me to make him some. You are going to get in trouble if you don't stop buying yarn. I don't think I will ever use up all my yarn. When they came out with the Vanna yarn years ago I bought a whole lot of It and have not used any of it. I have stored it in my closet and I forget about it.
cj, I under stand your problem of where to live. We get to a certain age when keeping up with a house is not fun any more. Plus there is always something that needs repaired. I just groan when something comes up that I need to take care of. What keeps me here is DD otherwise I would go back to Ireland. I would suggest to you that when you need a contractor check with the Better Business Bureau and they can probably direct you in the right direction. Do you have licensing board probably run by the county. You could check with them and see if there have been complaints and also if the contractor has a current license. I always check that before I heir anyone. There are lots of scams and sometimes someone will give you a business card with a license no. on it but they don't have a current license and think they can pull the wool over your eyes.
Ginny, are you counting the days until the last day of school.?
Now I must get ready for bed perhaps s little crafting before I go to sleep. I have a bad habit of staying up too late and I get my days and nights mixed up. sleep well. well.

Good afternoon fellow crafters. It's a beautiful day here today. It's so sad about yet another school shooting killing 10 people. I'm glad I have only one grandchild in an actual school now but praying for those affected by today's horrible occurence.
Didn't get any crafting done last evening except to look at more patterns. I get email about patterns every day so I often go to those sites then add more of the patterns to my book marks list.
Last night dh found that there was a racoon in our yard. We just mentioned yesterday while out and saw a dead on at the side of the road that we once in awhile see dead ones that were hit by cars but never live ones and just that same night one is in the yard. I hope he goes away and no more come because I don't want them eating my tomatoes
I spent the morning writing letters to a couple of my grandchildren. They all wrote us thank you notes for presents but a couple wrote letters and the 6 year old was cute in that she said she wanted us to be penpals. So I worte her back last week and today wrote the other two that sent letters. The three oldest are allowed to do email and I miss the actual letters they used to send thanking us for gifts. My ds said that the 6 year old was thrilled to get her own mail.I'm pretty bad at sending letters, cards and other things but I'll have to do better. I used to love writing letters when I was a child too. And receiving mail is still something I love.
Well I'd better get on with my day and do some things that need doing so will see you all later. Have a joyful and blessed day

Hello Crafters Phyl - I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers and hope the doctors find the right treatment for you. Ginny - Hope you get to make your catnip snuffed mice and that you have a cooler weekend. Ruth - Congratulations on clothing that is too large! Meg - Hope you were get some crafting and some rest. Are you getting up early tomorrow morning to watch the Royal wedding? Thanks to all of you for your support, advice and guidance about my roof and my concerns about moving and finding a new house. I really appreciate all of that It's raining here again today, but not too bad. It's cool too, in the 60s. I haven't been doing much today, watching the sad news on TV. I feel so bad for our children today who have to go to school and face the possibility of being shot. It's such a different world than when I was in school. Take care everyone!

When we were in school the only thing we had to worry about was being hit by spitballs...did they have those in your school? Are be listed in "slam books"
Our day went downhill fast. There was rain predicted and just when dh said, well it doesn't look like rain, it began to cloud up and we had thunder storms with hail. there was continual rumbling thunder. I didn't see lightening.Rain is still coming down even though the forecast was for "showers". This is more than showers. Tomorrow high predicted to be below 50 with a low of 34. Sounds like today we're having the same weather as you are CJ.Good side is I have a good excuse for not doing yard work
Meg, you're right about the yarn. That's another thing about moving elsewhere...all this yarn to move!! ...and to have a place to keep it in the new place. Two of my aunts lived in senior apartments. One bedroom wouldn't do me. I have to have an extra just for my craft supplies
