Good evening! Cannot believe that today is almost over....it was a long week. Ruth, you are so right, those senior apartments do not hold much-, certainly not enough room for craft materials. My mom’s assisted living room was large, and we put in as much furniture as we could for storage. It was a bear to unload that room when she transferred to a nursing home. Anyway, extra room for craft supplies is a nice thing. Congrats on having a great excuse for not doing yard work! Sorry your weather stinks, but then its a good excuse to crochet. .Nice job- nice that you need smaller summer clothes! Meg- do you have family left in Ireland? I hope you are able to switch your body clock back to normal, it must be frustrating to be off cycle with the daylight hours. CJ- hope you are hanging in there- even with all the rain. Will you be watching the wedding tomorrow am? (I will DVR it- so Dd and I can watch it later on). Long week, I am tired. Think all my crafting today will be discussing going to Quilters Attic with my friend- we are heading up there June 8. Hope everyone has a good evening Ginny

Up - going to grab a cup of herbal tea and watch the wedding programming....that is unless I fall back to sleep on the couch! This weekend is a busy one- we have a birthday celebration for a former coworker of Dh’s and it is a bit of a drive from here. I am figuring that I can tie in the ends on those fg on the way there, other than that they are done. Perhaps I will bring the pillowcases to work on in the car too, but I doubt I will be able to get to them. CJ- its raining here in NY- and I heard the other day that it was supposed to rain more to the south of us. Hope your roof is holding tight and dry until it is repaired. G

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today I enjoyed watching the wedding this morning. It's always fun to see what the guests are wearing and then the wedding gown, etc. The service was really nice and I enjoyed the music. I always like to hear the English Church Choirs and that young guy that played the Cello was unbelievable - that was so beautiful. It was raining this morning but then cloudy this afternoon. I think we're finally going to get some clearer weather in the coming week so hopefully I'll get my roof replaced then. Take care everyone!

Hello my fellow crafters and friends. Ginny, I hope you have a good time at the birthday celebrations. And getting the fg's completely done will be nice. I know your pillowcase if going to be beautiful. If I did all that work embroidering one I wouldn't want anyone to use it Didn't watch or record the wedding. Just not too interested in things like that. Good thing we all have different tastes in this world or it would be a boring place. I did a bunch of work in the house today...don't we all always do that? Laundry, organizing shelves in the laundry room and the ever recurring kitchen work. Last night I did about half of the second Dr Suess color fg's but during the day I did a bunch of hearts, bows, and little fish to go on the gloves. I never did get further than that on my finishing so maybe I'll work on some this evening but then again I may just finish that one glove and go on to another pair and add them to my pile of things needing finishing. Have a great evening all. For Meg it's still afternoon so have a great rest of the day Meg.

Back from the birthday party, which was pleasant enough. Nice for Dh to get out and see some former coworkers and friends- he really needs to socialize more and this was good for him.
Ruth, think we all have a huge pile of things that need finishing....the h earts, bows and llittle fish sound intricate and time consuming. Bet they come out cute however..... Well I am glad you got some houswork done, which never ever seems to end. Too bad it just did not stay clean all by itself.
CJ- hope that better weather is headed your way so that the roof can be repaired. I loved watching the children in the bridal party-so cute to see them all dressed up- and I thought it was adorable that they all held hands going down the aisle- in an effort to keep them from misbehaving. ANd the hats that the women wear are so interesting. QUite an art form!
ANother long day awaits me tomorrow. Have a good night Ginny

Yes I think that hats are really big in England. They still have specialty hat shops and actual milleners.
Well I got the second glove of that pair done. One looks like it's a little bit larger than the other but I think it's fine. Then I started a pair of Iris stitch fg's...not Irish but Iris like the flower. Now if you want to make a REALLY easy fingerless glove that looks hard, this is it. Couldn't be easier. However like the other patterns I've mentioned it just seems too large. The pattern actually called for bulky yarn and an H hook and I used worsted weight and a G hook and it was still too large so I cut the chain down by 4 stitches and it does seem much better. The pattern is in multiples of 4 plus 2 for turning
Ginny, I'm glad you enjoyed the party and that your dh did too. I'm sorry you have another long day tomorrow and no days on the weekend completely for yourself but I hope that what you have planned for the day is something you enjoy...Won't be long before school is over for the summer though. I bet you can't wait.

Hello everyone, It has been a busy day and no crafting. Last evening I tried to start s sample for a chevron stitch afghan but I have trouble seeing the chains. If I could get it started I would probably be able to finish it. I made a few chevron afghans a few years ago. So I will probably work on something else. I have been on U Tube quite a lot this week.
cj, yes I did watch the wedding. I set my alarm clock and was up by 3 a.m. The Royal Family really bring unity to the British people. Of course there are a few who would like to get rid of the Monarchy. It was a beautiful wedding and the bride looked beautiful in her simple wedding gown. I bet it cost a pretty penny.
In the afternoon DS and I went grocery shopping we were almost out of everything and by the time we got back I was tired. Ginny, you sked if I still had family in Ireland and the answer is yes. I have nephews and nieces in N. Ireland and I have a niece and her family in England. But I don't know whether I will get over there again. I would not want to be a burden to them if I got sick. I haven't done any crafting since Knit Wits yesterday afternoon. I don't feel like doing any tonight. I hope you get time to relax this weekend.
Ruth, Some of the senior apts are quite expensive. I visited a friend about 2 weeks ago and she is now living in a small one bedroom and though it was very nice I just wouldn't fit in there. One of these days I am going to check some of these places out. I don't know whether I could afford to live somewhere like that. One of the ladies at Knit Wits was knitting fingerless gloves yesterday.
Phyl. I hope you are keeping well. Take care.
I am going to head for my bedroom and I will probably do some reading.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all enjoying your weekend It's hot here today, near 90 degrees and humid. I think it's supposed to be milder in the week ahead. I haven't been doing anything today, just reading and watching TV. I was glad to get some sleep last night since the night before I only slept about 3 hours. For any of you who are interested, here's the link to Kathy's Blog for Slow Stitching Sunday, I love to check out all the blogs that link to her each week: kathysquilts.blogspot.ca/

Meg, yes, some of the senior apartments are way too expensive but all rents here are extremely high which is why we stay in our house. Shopping tires me out too but not much you can do about that. I'm sure your commissary doesn't take online orders and deliver and the stores here don't either but actually we wouldn't use it even if they did. I like to see what Im getting beforehand.
Cj I'm going to go look at that site as soon as I finish here. It's a little warmer here today and it's sunny once again so that's nice but it's nowhere near 90. It is supposed to warm up later in the week though and when it does I probably will put out the tomatoes. I'll have to see what the long range weather forecast is like
I've been working of fingerless gloves again today. One thing I have to say about theseIris stitch fingerless gloves is that they truly are fast. You can make a pair in under a half hour.I think I mentioned I'm going to make some in all sizes using different hook sizes and yarns. The girls will like them. I have to make some more dgs gloves too I think. I really need to take a count on how many I have for each one of the dgks. I'll finish the second glove for the pair I'm working on now then do that. I have to compare them to the drawings of the hands I sent to make sure I have some that fit each one. Then Im going to make ds and oldest dgs two pairs. I want to make each of them and the little guy matching pairs. I know little guy will love having the same ones as his dad and big brother.

Good afternoon!
Ruth, the Iris fg sure sounds interesting, something that looks hard but is easy to do! Doesnt get any better than that. I wonder if the two gloves would shrink up to closer to the same size when washed. Sometimes its a matter of minor differences with tension that go away when washed.
CJ- thanks for the link to kathysl quilts! For a weekend like this, when I am getitng no crafting done, just looking at someone elses crafting is a pleasant diversion. Hoping for cooler weather and a repaired roof for you!!!
Meg, so good to hear that you got to knit wits- we all know how you enjoy that. Do you facetime or skype with any of your family “across the pond”? I hope you get to relax too!!! Glad you got to see the wedding. I enjoyed also the blending of 2 cultures, it was a wedding that was very British, with a lot of American interspersed. Nice touch...
Graduation went well- and this long day is over. This week is long for me, its Buster week. - so I am busier than normal. A bit tired as I have gotten little time to relax this weekend.
Hope your Sunday has been a good one. Ginny

Ruth, check out (on all free crochet) the scrap buster patterns. They have coasters (so cute) that you can make, but what really caught my eye was the funky striped socks made from different colors. If you are unable to open the pattern (Colorful knee high socks by Nadia Fuad) then I can send the pattern to you. They were rated easy.... Adorable for a teenage girl.

Ginny, I didn't realize you were going to a graduation. Congrats to the graduate and to his or her parents who undoubtedly had a lot to do with this person's success
I saw the coasters earlier today and you are so right...they're really nice coasters. I just went now and saw the socks. I think I've seen them before but you're right again. they really are nice. All the different colors mean a lot of work but if someone like a grandchild wanted them I'd make them
CJ, I did go and check that site. Thanks for the info. I love looking at the work of others

Good evening, I have had a lazy day and did a little crocheting and I will do some more this evening. It was a little cooler today and we have a nice breeze.
Ruth, no the commissary does not take on line orders and they do not deliver. I do like to go to the store to see what is new and I sometimes forget to put something on my list, also it gets me out of my house.
cj, I am a member of the Episcopal church and I have heard the Episcopal Bishop before he is very good. I wish we had more priests like him. The Episcopal church is the same as the Church of England or the Church of Ireland so I am familiar with the wedding service which was slightly changed yesterday to make all the people especially guests from the U.S. feel comfortable and not so formal. It was very well done. The young 19 year old man was excellent. Was his instrument a cello? I am not good at remembering the names of all the instruments. I know what a piano and an organ are and probably a violin. I am sure you were tired if you stayed up all day yesterday. I turned off the TV and went to bed about 5 30 a.m. and got up late in the morning. I went to Windsor Castle years ago when I was about 19 and my girl friend and I went to the evening service in In the church. I don't remember much about it.
Ginny, I have not heard of Face Time but I did sign up for Skype years ago but didn't use it much. My nephew suggested getting a camera so I did that but never use it . They are always using a different service. I should try and get set up with the same service though I have tried before. I could use the camera to talk to my DGD in Florida. I did talk to her this afternoon, she started a new job last week. She hasn't worked since they left here 2 years ago.
Now I am going to my bed room and I will crochet and listen to my latest Poldark book. I am now reading book #6.
Sleep well everyone.
