Good morning, I always get a little freaky when I see that I started this thread 5 hours ago...
On to bubiness- Ruth, how do you let Lion Brand know that the pattern has a flaw? Of course you should do that if you can....so that the rest of us can make it through the pattern ok. I wonder if they actually proof read the patterns?
CJ- I have noticed a lot of Royal Wedding shows this week, think tonight on Lifetime there is a show (with actors anc actresses) about the romance of Harry and Megan. I DVR’ed it in case I need something to watch and the show seems credible. So sorry that you are not thrilled with the fabric combo you used for the quilt. Can the right border save the day and tie it all together?
Phyl-hoping that you get the best wisdom from your doctors so that you can make an intelligent decision regarding your procedure. Bet it was nice seeing all the family yesterday.
Meg- hoping you had a wonderful Mothers day!!
Its Monday. Groan. Kids were monsters this am....only 6 weeks till Summer vacation Ginny

Ginny, it just seems so strange that there is still so much school left in this semester. Even here there is still school until about June3rd. In past years here they got out for the summer in May while back in NY it went till almost the end of June.
On the Lion site they have a way to send comments so that's what I did. I'm sure that people who have crocheted for awhile would figure out easily what the problem is but inexperienced crocheters would probably misunderstand and skip a stitch which would still not work for them because they would find, at the end of the row, that they didn't have enough stitches and they also would have a hole in the base of their thumb
It's a beautiful day. Sunny but not too hot. Dh was going to go shopping today but I talked him into waiting until tomorrow when the new sale starts at one of our regular stores. So I'll have today to get some things done inside and in the yard as well as my crocheting. I had two pairs of fingerless that had only one glove done so I finished those yesterday and also did another pair. On Friday I'll get everything together and see just how many I have for each of the Indy grandchildren and go from there.
I got to talk to the Indy grands yesterday on a video chat thing on Facebook...all 8 of them. I can't believe that the baby, who is six months old. is so big. Typical 6 month size I'm sure.. and of course he is so cute as are the others. I've used Skype before..never used this video chat. It seems to work quite well once I figured out all the buttons to push to turn on the camera and microphone.Oh course I couldn't talk to each one separately since ds has some kind of limited internet...well at least he used to. I'll have to check on that. My dgd's mission trip isn't far from now.. So when it gets closer I'll be kindly asking for prayer for safe travel for them.(dgd and ds are both going)

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today
Ginny - Thank you so much for your kind words in yesterday's post. I hope your day was special yesterday. I'm sure you can't wait for Summer vacation, hope it comes quickly for you.
I will try to find a nice fabric to put a border on that quilt, it definitely needs one. Maybe this has cured me from buying so many Reproduction style fabrics. They tend to be darker fabrics and even though I find them pretty, the quilts made with them can be very subdued. It probably didn't help that I paired up Beige/Tan fabrics from the other Charm Pack
Phyl - I'm glad to hear you had a good day yesterday. Hope everything about your surgery can get resolved.
Meg - Hope you are doing well and getting in some crafting and listening to a good book.
Ruth - I'm glad to hear your weather is nice, hope you can get in your crocheting and get your shopping done tomorrow. Isn't technology wonderful now so that we can still "see" our families even when they aren't near.
It's warmer and sunny here today with thunderstorms predicted later. I'm hoping for nothing too severe. The weather forecast here is for thunderstorms every day this week. It's going to be a long week for me!
I'll have to go out one day this week to get the Emissions test done on one of my cars. My state requires this every 2 years. We've always complained about it because there are so many travelers coming through this state that just testing the resident's cars probably doesn't help the air that much. Hopefully my older cars will continue to pass the test each year until I get a newer car.
Take care everyone!

CJ, I just saw on the weather channel that your area is having terrible damaging thunderstorms and wind. I'm praying that you and your property are ok

hi, got the call about 8.30 - 9 am surgery is canceled. sounds like my doctor called there and told them not to do surgery. then barley got off the phone and the clinic here called.they already have me with hemotologist wednesday morning.things are moving fast again. course it could be minor type of thing or it could be more serious. I will probably be going back and forth for awhile.
did not do much today. we got some rain this afternoon. don did get the garden tilled for the second time. then came the rain and no seeds or potatoes got put in.phyl

Phyl, I'm sorry that your surgery had to be cancelled but with a platelet count like that it's the safest thing and it's the necessary thing. Good thing you had planned surgery though because due to that they found the problem and can now find out what's causing it and can work on whatever needs to be done. You are on my prayer list.
I'm sorry too to hear that Don tilled the soil twice already and was still unable to plant. What are you going to plant besides the potatoes? When we were thinking of moving from western NY one of the things on our list was that the place be good for growing vegetables. Well this place sure doesn't meet that criteria. Not much will grow here.

Good morning!
Phyl- you must be disaopointed that your surgery is being cancelled again, but it does seem as though it is with good cause. I agree with Ruth- that this is all good- now they can address the platelet issue and then repair the hip when the time is right. I also wonder what you will plant besides potatoes. Do you plant from seed or buy the plants?
Ruth, did you get the heavy storms you were expecting? Regarding emissions from cars, our vehicles are tested annually, along with a safety inspection. We used to have a much older truck and the emissions standard was less strick for vehicles made then. Anyway, hope your car passes.
CJ- my Dd (#2) made a quilt for me from reproducition fabrics. Its lovely- I do know that a lot of the reproduction fabrics are not as brightly colored. Now I have no idea what your quilt looks like, but perhaps a navy reproduction fabric with a small tan/beige print would add some depth and interest to your quilt. At the large LQS here they have some fabrics that fit that bill....I am sure you will find something you like to make the quilt top pop.
Did not sleep well last night. My idiot neighbor now seems to enjoy shining his new outdoor lights on my house (the bedroom side) so it looks rather freakish to have so many lights on. He is an interesting man who seems to think the world revolves around him. I pray that the Lord has some plan for this.... and trust that he will give me the peace and grace to deal with this until something changes.
Gonna be hot here today. Yuck. Off to the dentist to get the extraction checked...I am sure its healed fine. Got a few minutes of crochetting done this am on the second FG.

Ginny, it was actually CJ that was getting bad storms and concern about vehicle emissions. We did have a thunderstorm and rain too but ours was not bad at all. I'm wondering how CJ made out thru the storms and did the shingles stay on the roof.
Just got home from shopping so am tired. We live in a very low populated place but it seems like the grocery stores always have too many people and there is too much traffic. One of my pet peeves is people who have all their grocerys rung up,bagged and everything ready to leave and only then get out their checkbook to start writing a check...what??? they didn't know theyh were going to have to pay for the stuff. Drives me crazy. But I won't complain...it sure is not as bad as a whack job neighbor that shines lights on your bedroom window!
I got one fg made yesterday. Spent most of my crafting time looking at yet more patterns. The gloves go fast and I intended to do the other glove also but got sidetracked so I'll finish it today. It's pretty all made in white with teal edging at the top and a very small teal bow at the botton of the hand at the top of the cuff.
WEll gonna go finish putting away things. See you all later.

Opps! Forgive my senior moment there Ruth.
Yes, I always wonder about those folks who seem to forget that they will actually have to pay for those groceries. And then turn that process into a full time job.
I am pooped...going to bed early tonight. G

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today
Phyl - I'm glad they cancelled your surgery so they can find out what is going on with the other issue. I hope they can get everything worked out for you soon. I also hope your husband can get his planting done.
Ruth - Hope you get some rest tonight after your shopping. Shopping wears me out sometimes too since I usually save everything up and do it all at one time on the same day. There are some days that I go out and have to go to 7 or 8 places! It is nice getting it all done at once though compared to when I was still working and had to go out every day.
Ginny - Sorry to hear about those lights bothering your sleep. I hope if you find that you can't adjust to the lights that maybe you can get some blinds or curtains to help. I bought some light/heat blocking curtains for the windows on the west side of my house and they do block the light out pretty well.
Meg - Hope you are getting some crafting in.
The rain last night wasn't too bad, it seems that it was worse out to the west. A lot of times those storms that come from the west (in Virginia) diminish by the time they pass through Washington, D.C. and come into Maryland. I did have a little bit of leaking from the ceiling.
I called the roofers yesterday and they told me I was scheduled for roof replacement this Friday if there isn't going to be rain. The weather forecast for the rest of this week is rain every day, 100% chance on Friday So I know I won't get my roof replaced this week. I sure hope I get it by next week. The shingle pallets have been staying on the roof pretty well, but it will be 2 weeks after they delivered before I get the roof replaced.
In hindsight I should have dropped this company back in March, or early April and went with someone else. Live and learn. Just have to deal with these rain days ahead and hope I don't get too much ceiling damage.
To top everything off, after the storm last night I have problems with my landline phone. I can call out, but I can't receive incoming calls. So now I have this to deal with. I do have a cell phone, but I mostly use it for emergencies. In a way I'm kind of happy not to receive any phone calls, I'm stressed out and don't want to talk to anyone.
It was in the 90s here today, but supposed to be cooler the next few days.
I did get the Emissions test done today and did all my other errands while it was not raining. Now I can stay home the rest of the week and monitor the water
Take care everyone!

hi, after talking to my doctor on friday and waiting for someone to call over the weeekend I Think in away I am releved .
don always tills the garden twice.goes one way the first time and the other way the second time. that way he doesn't have any miss spots.
don buys the tomatoes and pepper plants.the bagged onion sets.
we have any left over potatoes from the season before he cuts them up and plants them.
also leaf lettuce, beets, corn, green beans.cherry tomatoes plant and cucumbers.
we have a couple of rhubarb plants. ruth how is your plant doing?
today I went to the russian felted wool class. not sure if I will make all 12. that is one big wall hanging. I could put it on the bed, nobody would see it. it really isn't a quilt.
hope that roof gets fix soon.maybe tell them you are tried of waiting and going to call some one else and they can pick up their shingles. also not to charge you.
tell them if the roof caves in there will be a lawsuit.phyl

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today phyl - I'm glad you're relieved about postponing the surgery. Hopefully you'll get to have it when the time is right. The wool projects are very popular right now. I've seen some that are really pretty, hope you can find a way to display the ones you make. Thanks for your thoughts on the roof. I have to admit to being a coward about this but I couldn't bear to go through all of this again with a new company. With the rain we are having for the next several days nobody is going to have their roofs worked on, so there's nothing I can do at this point but wait and hope that I get mine done next week. If that doesn't happen then I might have to do what you suggest. I fixed the phone problem I was having yesterday. It appears to just be one of the phones that was causing it, so I unplugged it and now the others are working. I'm glad about that because I'd reached my maximum home problems I could deal with Take care everyone!

Phyl, I hope and pray all goes well at the doctor today. I would guess that he will schedule tests at least I hope so.
CJ, I don't know if you're a person that hugs but if I were nearer I would give you one an dhope it would make you feel better. I suppose you maybe should have changed companies but I'm with you on just picking one and not having to have a bunch of different ones over giving estimates. Yes I like to save money but sometimes the stress is just not worth it. I need to get my phone fixed. I have the phone thru the cable company and it sometimes just cuts out in the middle of a conversation so I called the cable company to see if it was a problem on their end. They did a test and said that something in the modem. I don't know if I believe that or not because the modem works fine for the internet and I also just had it replaced in the fall. She wanted to send someone and I said I would wait. I hate having workemen in my house. I, too, have a cellphone just for emergencies...basic tracfone. It's cheap and serves it's purpose.
Ginny, I know you said this is a busy week for you. I hope you can get some time in there to relax and get some rest. Yes maybe blackout curtains would work but it's too bad it's necessary. What in the world makes people so mean. It has to be tiring to be so angry all the time
Have a great day all. We're going out shopping again tomorrow to Walmart and the dollar store so we will stop back at the Kroger store and get our money back that they overcharged us. I wouldn't make a special trip but since we'll be out anyway. It's not like it's a lot of money but better I have my own money than the store gets it for overcharging.

Ginny, I'm watching the weather channel and it looks as though your area might have been hit by a disastrous storm. I hope it wasn't in your town. Are you ok?
