Hello Ginny and those that come in later. It's a beautiful day here but I'm not working outdoors. I'm just too tired. Yesterday was a tiring day.
Last evening I ripped out those gloves and will be making my modified pattern with the yarn. Ginny, you would laugh if you saw my crocheting notebooks. I write down in there everything I make, who I made it for and when, If I modify the pattern I put in the name of the pattern, a detailed description, the yarn I used and the size hook. Then I put in the modifications row by row.And since I modify most of what I make I do have a lot written in there. I also like to have a record of what I made for which grandchild in case someone else asks to have one of the same I'll know which one they're talking about.
I think I'm about ready for a nap. I made dh a carrot cake and after my nap Im going to make a pasta salad.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today I'm so excited!!!! I have a new roof!!!! The roofers arrived at 7:00 A.M. and left at 3:00. They took a 1/2 hour lunch. There was no way they would have finished my roof in one day if they had started at 1:00 P.M. I just don't understand the logic of that, but it doesn't matter now anyway. The roof is a medium gray (my house is white), and I think it looks nice. I'm going to leave my buckets and plastic out though until we have the first rainstorm, which I think will be tomorrow. I just want to make sure there is no more leaking. I'm tired since I didn't sleep well last night worrying about today and then for most of the day there was banging and loud noise shaking the house while they were replacing the roof. At least it helped me get my steps in because I couldn't sit for long without getting up to see what was going on. I did some more decluttering (of mostly junk and paperwork) today, so I'm happy to have done some 2 days in a row. Just have to keep working at it. Take care everyone!

And I'm sure I can safely say for the others too that we are so excited along with you, that you have a new roof!!! Yay. I'm praying prayers of thanks. And you got decluttering done too!! Congratulations of both of those things.
I just had my nap. I feel much better. Now a couple more tasks to do then an evening of crocheting and maybe have tv on for company although dh has been very chatty yesterday and today so when he gets up from his nap he may fullfull the company part.

Good morning! Ruth, well its a good thing that you do keep notes of your crochetting. With all the hand made work you do, keeping track of what you made and how you made things is a good idea.
CJ, So very happy for you! Hope you rested well last night with your new roof.
Speaking of exhaustedthat is me. Gotta go to work noe. Slept very poot last night. Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Thanks for the kind thoughts on my roof replacement. I will be testing it out with some rain today, tomorrow and this weekend If I make it through that with no problems then I'll put all my buckets and plastic tarps away. I actually did some quilting today. I've become interested recently in Hawaiian Needle Turn Applique quilting. I had a block pattern kit that relatives had brought me from Hawaii many years ago. So I basted the Hawaiian design (fabric) onto another piece of fabric this morning and now I'm read to work on the applique. Here's a You Tube that shows how it's done: www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1JfutOA1NQIt's nice because you don't need a hoop so it's easy to work on it while sitting on the couch in the evening. Hope everyone else is getting to work on some crafting. Take care everyone!

Ginny, I'm sorry to hear that you were unable to have a good sleep last night. Surprisingly I slept well even though I'd had a nap in late afternoon
CJ, I sure hope that there are no leaks. I wouldn't think there would be though. Your quilting the Hawaiian applique sounds interesting and I'll be checking that out. I'll never do make one but I love watching the videos of all kinds of quilting and I loved watching the quilting programs on PBS
My crafting today has been looking at my patterns in my bookmarks and thinking about what to make for dgds for their upcoming birthdays which don't start until last of August but time goes by fast. As I was making the pair of men's fg's which were supposeed to be for ds and dgs dh mentioned how much he liked the yarn and the gloves so I made them for him instead and will make different ones for the other two guys. I don't even know what the color name of the yarn was because the label was missing but I do know it was Vanna's choice yarn so could look it up online. ONe thing I'm going to make for the dgd that will turn 7 in August is a crochet crown so she can be a little princess. I made one for her sister who's just a couple years older a few years ago and she loved hers. might have to make one for my dggd too who will soon be one.My dgd loves taking pictures of dggd wearing various things some of which her friend crochets.OH and I found a really cute flower necklace to make for that dgd...one who will be 7...she had asked about a necklace awhile back and I haven't got it made yet even after mentioning the magnetic closures I bought since I'm leary of small children having crochet things around their necks.
There are so many things I'd like to make and I can't say that I don't have the time. I have plenty of time I just don't utilize it as I should
Dh and I did a little cooking a little while ago and it's simmering now on the stove. Don't know what to call it except for a "concoction"

Ruth- hope your concoction tasted great!! I am sure it did.....and I think we all understand about so many crafts to make- so little time.
CJ congrats on getting some quilting time in....and we all hope that the new roof serves you well for many many years.
No crafting for me today. Dd and the kids came over, and I had to return to work. That half hour nap saved me....and I got through the afternoon ok.
Hope everyone has a good evening G

Sometimes a half hour nap is just the thing to refresh us and give us the energy to finish up the afternoon. I'm glad you were able to get that nap in. Well I'm working on yet another pair of fgs, these for ds or dgs whoever picks them... I'm sending 4 pairs for them and they can pick whichever ones they want or maybe share. I'm using the same pattern as I used to make the ones yesterday that will be dh's. I modified it even more and now it's perfect. I'd bet the designer wouldn't appreciate me sending my new revised pattern to her and telling her how much better it is now now I have 3 1/2 pairs left to do because I only have one glove made so far but am almost done with the second one. It kinda looks like rain but probably won't. I did hear a tiny bit of thunder earlier but that was it.

hi, clinic called yesterday. now they have me taking two meds m-f and one on sat-sun. platelets were up again on thursday's lab.
we will see what happens june 14th.
I am finding out alot more people have problems with platelets. funny I had heard of platelets am now just finding out about them.
our dsil in ky mom is going though the same thing .they are trying to find out her problem.
I think they are treating me more for thrombocytosis then anything. hope I am not wrong.
I am learning new medical words. spelling them is the challenge. I can 't even think about all the words and spelling nurses have to know.
today ws wi. up .6. not bad for 2 weeks. thought it would be more as the last couple of days my body felt like I gained 2-4 pounds.
we had a nice little lunch at bernice's yesterday. it was a potluck and we would not let her make anything or do anything.this is the griend who caught her foot in the rolled up wire and tore the tendons away from the pelvic bone.
nita brung a really neat salad.was not veggie. don't remember everything that was in it.
kathy brugn a popcorn snack kind of thing with popcorn, pecans and chocolate in it.I took bbq hambuger and buns.mary jo brung chips and pickles. joyce ice cream. when kathy heard ice cream she made a home made chocolate syrup. yum.
sounds like alot of food but it wasn't.
I heard back from msqc. for the baby charmm quilt all I had to do is 8 squares across and 4 down.5 inch boarder. I may just add extra squares and put and have a smaller boarde r. I could just put like frame around it and still do a smaller boarder..
I could also just sew and turn it right side out and no boarder.
here is a hint for whoever has a embroadiery machine. kathy has the brand new expensive pfaff machine. what she does is puts a batting behind the piece she want to emboardier on. this will give more of the puffy look. when the machien is done then she puts another layer of batting and backing on. taht is how she sandwhichs it before taking it to the quilter.
she use to have her own longarm. since her hip surgery she can't stand at if for long. so whe does not use it anymore.phyl

Phyl, yes I'm sure you've learned far more about platelets than you ever wanted to know. As I'm sure you know now platelets are one of the three blood cells, red cells aka erthrocytes, white cells of which there are many...leukocytes, granulocytes, neutrophils and many more, ad then platelets of which they know of only one kind...they are also known as thrombocytes which is how they get the name thrombocytosis or when platelets are how it's called thrombycytopenia. I'm mostly dealth with people who had thrombocytopenia due to chemotherapy for their various cancers sinc I was an oncology nurse. Yes you said you were taking a cancer drug and those are often used in thrombocytosis because of their action in suppressing bone marrow...causing the bone marrow to slow it's production of blood cells including platelets. are you taking hydroxyurea or anagrelide? Those are the most common meds given to slow platelet production
You potluck with the "girls" sounds like fun and I bet your friend appreciated both the food and the company. And congrats on the weight. Right now it has to be hard to worry about staying on a weight loss plan.
Haven't done any crafting yet today. When I got up dh was already out doing some yard work so I went out to help but he was actually done with what he was going to do. He was grumpy because he hadn't eaten so I had to get him inside and convince him to eat. When his blood sugar gets low he does get grumpy and doesn't always realize that he needs to eat. Then kitchen duty called...cleaning up and all, cutting up a fresh pineapple and making some homemade mac and cheese. I made the cheese sauce for it with Fage plain Greek yogurt. It was very tasty.Of course that's for dh because it has gluten but I'm going to try making some cheese sauce without the flour or maybe with rice or oat flour. I don't know how that will work. Or I could try cornstarch maybe. I do have some gluten free flour but it has xantham gum and they say not to use it for thickening things.
Had to call Direct TV this morning too to find out if the insurance I have with them covers power cords and she said it does so they will be sending me a check to cover the cost of one. My ds who is a computer expert says it sounds more to him like it's the laptop itself where the power cord goes into it because that's most commonly the cause of the problem I'm having. The ins will cover that too but I have to pay a $50 and send in my computer to be fixed and don't like the idea because I don't know who they have doing the fixing. The person at DTV said the same thing...that it sounds more like the computer itself but the cord is strange so I'm trying that first.
Well I'm going to go do a little crafting...maybe looking at patterns or maybe actually doing more crocheting.

Good evening, Phyl, I am learning a lot about thrombocytosis reading your post.... honestly I knew nothing about it before and still do not know much. It does sound as though you are getting the treatments that will get your blood levels in a more normal range, of course I pray that this is so. Yes your lunch at bernices sounds like you had good food and a good time! So glad you could get out for that. Thanks for the heads up on machine embroidery. Back on the old WW thread I was on, a woman from Arozona was the machine embroidery queen- I learned a ton about it from her posts. I lost track of Tracy when she stopped posting- think WW asked her to stop posting as she frequently posted on politics (the thread I knew her on was strictly crafting) Anyway thanks for the info on embroidery, I wonder if I will ever get into that.
Ruth- gee where would Dh be without you if you did not remind him to eat??? Ha ha ha Did you have any success making a cheese sauce without flour? I also have DTV- havew found them in the past to be very helpful and willing to help. Hope they can find a solution to the problem quickly and at no cost to you.
Long day today. Drove all my normal day and inbetween am and pm drove some kids to a local zoo. At the zoo I met Dd and the grandkids- its a scenic little zoo that Dh and I have taken them to before. We had a good day.....glad to be home though! Think I will sleep in late tomorrow.
Hope CJ slept well under her new, solid roof!!! Hi to Meg Good night....see. Y’all tomorrow. Ginny

Ginny, good to see you. Sounds like you had a good time at the little zoo.
Well found out that DTV messed up again...well long story but somehow my phone died but I thought the claim was all done anyway...apparently not. Plus they did something weird in my billing. Working with these companies is so frustrating. I'm seriously tempted to actually have it all disconnected.
Did a little looking at patterns and one row of crocheting

Good morning!!
Ruth, how frustrating- here you thought you had things sort of figured out- or were on the way to doing so and DTV got it all wrong. At least for my region, I remember having an issue with our TV- and it took months of calling and tecnicians to figure out the problem. Like you we were ready to just disconnect everything. Why pay for a service if the service is not what you want or it does not perform properly. And the aggrivation of having to call customer service constantly is a nightmare, especially as it seems as though the customer is forced to sit through endless menus of “press 1 for service, press 2 for billing..”it would be nice to be able to directly dial into the business unit you want or need . Glad you got a few minutes to look at patterns and crochet- even just one row. (That is more crafting than I got in yesterday!).
Busy day today as I try to get caught up. G

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Phyl - I hope the doctors continue to help you. Your luncheon sounds nice, how wonderful you have so many friends to get together with. I hope the quilt works out for you, please let us know. Ruth - The crochet crown sounds so cute, I bet your grandchildren love all those things you make for them. Hope things work out with your TV, it's such a pain when our electronics don't work. Ginny - Sounds like you had a good day at the zoo, even though it was tiring. Hope today isn't too busy for you. Meg - Hope you are getting in some crafting and reading, and that your weather is nice. I went to a quilt show yesterday. This is the biggest one in the area - over 500 quilts and over 70 vendors. We spent more time going through the vendors than looking at the quilts. I spent more than I should have, but it was fun and I enjoyed it. It was a long day though, so I was tired when I got home. I didn't have to drive, which is rare for me, so that was nice. But there was a lot of traffic coming home since it was Friday evening rush hour in the Washington, D.C. area! We had lunch at Wendy's, so it was nice to get to eat out. I found some nice fabrics and a few supplies and patterns too. I also bought a small kit for a Sashiko Quilting wallhanging. It was already marked and looks like the piece with the oval shapes showing in this article: www.seamwork.com/issues/2016/04/sashikoThere was also a lady there who had some beautiful hand painted pieces - small boxes and also some furniture. The person I was with really liked the stand with drawers that she had for sale. It was painted with sewing and quilting themes and was beautiful. It was $145 so she resisted it. If I had a place to put it, I would have bought it. Another lady had made stained glass hangings using old crystal glass plates and bowls, some of them were really beautiful too. They were $150 and up, so I resisted them too, but would have loved to have one of them. We have one more quilt show next weekend and then there is a break until several in the Fall. Take care everyone!
