Hello to all. CJ it sounds as though you had a wonderful day looking at some beautiful quilts and buying some fabric and supplies you wanted. We have to treat ourselves as the special people we are so go for it. I'm glad you didn't have to drive. I drove in DC once but that was way back in 60's. I can't imagine doing that now.
Ginny, yes calling DTV is indeed a nightmare. First you get the robot voice that asks you what you need and it never understands what you want. Next you finally get a human and they ask you all the questions the robotic voice already asked, she transfers you to another preson who asks the same questions. I finally got a third person and again was asked the same. She even said she wanted my phone number in casewe got cut off she could call back. Well she didn't call back anyway when my phone cut us off. And yes it''s for charging my laptop not for my tv. Can't use my laptop if it doesn't charge. Dh did look up a power cord and ordered one but since I'm paying the insurance I want to collect the money I'm entitled to so I'll call in a few minutes and see if they do business on a Saturday and try again with all the transfers, etc
Well I gave in to all the sales this weekend and bought more you know what. Yesterday from Herrschners who was having 15% off and free shipping and today Hobby Lobby who has 30% off and free shipping. My house looks like a yarn store only not so nicely organized. I was hoping to get some yarn to match some I got a few years ago but it's evidentally been discontinued so I'll have to see what I can do with it with the amount I have.

Good evening!
Well, Ruth, I have seen all those sales for yarn too. I deleted them before I was even tempted. (But I am going to quilters attic in a week.....all bets are off for what I do there!)> How about ebay for those discontinued yarn colors?
Hi CJ- yes it sounds like today was a really nice day for you- attending that huge quilt show. Have you been to this one before? Thanks for sharing the link on the stitching- I have never seen that before. It sure looks neat.... are you going to keep that wall hanging?
Its junk week here, so I spent a lot of time cleaning and getting rid of - you guessed it- junk. A very busy day but productive.
Have a good night Ginny

Ginny, good to hear that your day was productive. It's always nice to be able to look back and see all that you've accomplished.
As far as yarn goes you have much more self control than I have and you're more sensible You usually buy what you need for a project in mind. I just buy it and stash it.
I finished the pair of fg's I started last night and started another but then found that I did something wrong so ripped the one out that I did after finishing that other pair. I didn't like how it looked. I guess I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing or at least not enough attention.
Well the yarn that is discontinued is not really one that Im willing to spend too much money on and probably is not even one I want to use. It's a chenille type yarn and they're hard to work with. I think I may have gotten this from my ddil when her mother passed away. Her mother was a crocheter too. It's baby yarn so I'll make whatever I can with it..something that's small even a very small blanket to cover a baby in a car seat. I thiknk there's enough for that.
See you all tomorrow. I'll stop back later to see if Meg has posted

Good morning!!
Ruth, my mom had left a chenille type yarn, it was so very soft and pretty, but tried to do something with it- I forget what- realized it was a monster to work with and threw out that small partial skein. When there is so much yarn that is easier to work with and you do not need chenille for a special project, why use it? You crochet a lot more than I do- so for you to buy for a stash is not a bad idea. Years ago I would buy some yarn or supplies for a craft project becasue I liked it, but was unsure of what I would do with that item. I felt foolish, later on , getting rid of that whatever, unused- it was survival that I had to discipline myself only to buy for specific projects or if I really saw something I knew I would need.
Just got back from church. Think Dh, Dd and I are going for a walk along a rail trail. Thankfully the hot humid weather broke and its a lovely day. Some might consider it cool, but for me 65 degrees is perfect.
Have a blessed day Ginny

Good morning Ginny, CJ, Meg and Phyl. It's a beatiful day here so far but is to get hot later.
Ginny, this yarn is a baby yarn in chenille and I do have some regular chenille that I was going to give to Goodwill but dh wanted me to save it...for what I have no clue. It just takes up space. I did knit him a scarf with some of that chenille. It works pretty well for knitting but the yarn is so old that the fibers broke and the scarf is coming apart so I just need to toss it all next trash day. No sense even giving to GW if it's just going to break after someone goes to all the work of making something with it.
Your walk sounds very nice. I had told dh that we need to go to where theres a trail just down the highway and walk on it everyday. It has benches along it in case he would get tired out of breath and it runs along the river. So far we haven't got there even one day. It's really pretty there too along the river. Of course I wouldn't go there alone because although we have hardly any crime here at all one woman was sexually assaulted while walking there alone. that was probably 10 years ago now but just one time can make everyone cautious forever after that.
I started another pair of gloves last night but didn't get far. I still have two pairs to make for ds and dgs then I'll be done with gloves for family.I could actually get them both done today probably but who knows. Things don't always go as planned, sometimes just because it gets boring doing the same thing. Sometimes though the idea of completing something even as simple as a pair of fingerless gloves is exciting....gives a feeling of accomplishment when you see the completed article even if it's something that simple. I can only imagine the sense of accomplishment you ladies must feel when you finish one of your wonderful quilts
Have a great day all

Hello Crafters Ginny and Ruth - I also tried that soft yarn once and it was too difficult for me to work with, so I gave it away to a friend. It did feel so nice when it was in the skein. Ginny - Hope you had a wonderful time on your walk. Ruth - I'm glad to hear you are getting a lot of gloves done. Meg and Phyl - Hope you are well. It's raining and cool here today, in the high 50s (it was in the 60s earlier). We've had over 1 1/2 inches of rain so far and it's still coming down. I woke up in the night hearing the rain and was so thankful I didn't have to worry about the ceiling leaking. I've just been relaxing today, since it's a gray and rainy. I will have to go out this week to do some grocery shopping and errands. I have trouble finding the yogurts that I like to eat in the stores I usually shop at, so every so often I go out with my cooler and stop in 3 different stores and stock up. That's what I'll need to do this week. I have a knack for picking a food that I like a lot that eventually is either discontinued or hard to find I made a small batch of 2 Ingredient Dough today and made one bagel and the rest I'm going to use as a topping for a chicken pot pie for dinner. I haven't tried this yet, so I'll see how it goes. Take care everyone!

Anxious to see how that 2 ingredient dough works in a chicken pot pie, CJ. that is a favorite meal of mine....please let me know how it turns ou t. Think we all sufffer from not being able to find a favorite food from time to time. WHat is your favorite yogurt? Hope you can find it this week!!! No leaks from the ceiling, right?
Ruth, I think walking is a wonderful idea for you and Dh.

CJ, it's great to see you and it's especially great that, although it's raining by the buckets full, you don't have to worry about the roof leaking What a relief that has to be! Your plan for using the 2 ingred dough sounds like a great one. I love chicken pot pie and may have to think about making some myself except that it's going to be hot this week and with no A/C i don't want to heat up the house by using the oven even by just baking the topping separately.
I found that I have this skein of the baby chenille in a "ombre" which is very pretty and this morning found one in pink so for sure I'll make a blanket. It will be so soft and since I actually can knit, just don't like to, I can knit it and it should work fine. I really have to go thru the box of baby yarn and see if there is more of that stuff. When my dgd was here she showed me a really great way of casting on stitches for knitting but I just couldn't get the hang of it. I should have tried harder while she was here. I guess I could watch a youtube or else just stick with the way I always do it. As you said, Ginny, I have plenty of yarn and projects so don't really have to use this yarn but I hate letting things go to waste.

Ok, I am back. Ds came up to chat, and well he is a man of few words so we tend to listen when he does seem interested in a conversation.
Ruth, think the idea of walking with Dh is a good one for both of you- and having benches along the route an added bonus until you know what your stamina is like. Also nice that it is not far from home...just in case you tire out. I walk a lot by myself, but carry pepper spray. Sorry that you will be having such hot weather this week. An idea to try during hot weather is to run the crockpot- outside! Try putting the power cord out a window and the crockpot on a table or something close to the window.....all the heat stays outside and the house does not get heated up. Hope that you can figure out the method DGD taught you for casting on stitches. I am sure you will be able to figure it out from a. Youtube...sounds like a lovely way to use that baby chennile.
We walked 4 miles....nice weather and overall a good time. Now I just have to get the cat in (hoping that he shows up soon!) so I can relax for the night. G

Ginny, I hope the cat came in soon after you wrote your post above. I'm glad you had a good walk with family. I asked dh what happened about the walking we said we were going to do and he said that he never said that. Well I guess he didn't actually say "ok I'll walk with you" but I did get the impression that he would at least go there with me. He really needs exercise but you sure can't convince him of that.So I really think I need to get out there and walk myself at least.
Great idea to put the crockpot outside. I used to do that when we went to Arkansas because like most or at least many of the houses there it had a screened in porch and a big chest freezer on the porch so I sat the crock pot on the freezer and cooked out there. Here I have an outlet right by the door and a gas grill right outside so I could set the crockpot on the ledge of the grill and use it there. I also have the instant pot I could use there too and in fact it would be much better to use it outdoors because of the steam that comes out of it. Inside it can damage the wood cabinets that are over all my counter space.
I did find that I also have two skeins of that baby chenille in blue so i can either make a bigger blanket with all four of the skeins in alternating rows or two small car seat size blankets. It will actually be nice to have a knitting project going so that when I get tired of crocheting I can pick up the knitting which is what Meg does. Of course she's much, much better at knitting than I am. I also have a bunch of skeins of a yarn that's called Mea Dora (something like that) dreamy with is a fuzzy pink sort of like an eyelash yarn. I actually took all my specialty yarn like that, such as the yarn that used to be used for those skinny scarves that were trendy about 10 years ago, eyelash yarn, and ladder yarn, etc to Caps for Kids so I though I had disposed of it all but i guess I missed some. I did see a pattern today for a little girl's..well kind of like a cape type thing...that is really cute and I think this yarn would be perfect for that if it's not to hard to crochet with and I think my 6 year old dgd would love it. Her mother maybe not so much because, as you can imagine with 8 kids she's not really into hand washing things
I got started on anohter pair of fingerless so I'll get back to those and try to get a little bit more done of them before bed.
I hope you get a good rest, Ginny and have a good day at work tomorrow. And CJ, Meg, and PHyl...have a good day too
Oh and CJ, I was wondering too about which yogurt is your favorite. I remember years ago they had a yogurt called Whitney's. It was amazing but, of course, they quit making it
