Good morning!! I am going to respond here and then copy and paste the post over to next week. Yup, its that time again....and hard to believe that another week begins.
Meg, with all that walking I do hope that you can start the process of switching back to more normal sleeping during the night. My mom had that also- but she was a born night owl and living alone for 30 + years had no schedule to keep her sleeping regularly. Yes, I think with weather that hot turning on the AC is the way to go. Its not healthy to be that hot, and where you live, this heat could last for a long time- all the way into fall. Glad you got some plants for your flower pots- which plants work well in your area, which did you choose? Hope you rested well....
Phyl- good that the doctors are moving quickly with lab work so that you can get some answers. Oh dear, it sure sounds as though you are in a heat wave....97 degrees is awfully hot. Be sure to stay hydrated, drink lots of water. What color scheme are you using for the charm squares on point quilt?? That quilt is so adorable and easy to make once you figure out the secret of cutting on the diagonal (of course you have!). WHat is your plan for that quilt??
Ruth, well has all your “snow” melted? Bet that was pretty funny seeing all the hail bouncing off the ground. I have seen that once- but it was smaller pieces of hail and only lasted a few seconds. You had quite a display! Very good call to let that yarn sit in your cart and see if you really want it today. Yes, I have done that too- done that with MSQ daily deal (loaded it in the cart and checked much later on in the day). With all the crochetting and crafting you do, I would figure that if you got a great deal on a really easy to work with yarn that would be nice to make into a hat or item to donate....you know what I mean. Then perhaps it would be good to order. I run into a snag with the leftover yarn I have here as some of it is such a specific color that it would not look good in a hat or item to donate.
The cooler weather last night meant I slept very well. (I needed that!). We are heading out to a local parade, probably lunch. Gotta go.... have a great day! Hope CJ checks in later on.

Good morning all and I want to thank all the veterans and their families as the families have sacrificed also.Meg knows all about that.
Ginny, yes it was sure interesting watching the ice "popcorn".I still have to go out and look at my tomato plants. Dh is the one that went out yesterday after the hail stopped and said several looked like they were beyond repair.
Meg, I do hope that after all that walking you were able to sleep well. Now that you don't have to be up to drive Devin to school you can stay up and read all you like though and still sleep in. I've been having a very hard time getting to sleep but strangely last night I didn't have a bit of trouble and I'm glad to hear that you, Ginny, got a good night's sleep too.
Meg, I know those places and the people there appreciated the things you made and donated. At Caps for Kids we used to get letters thanking us for the hats. We made them for all ages not just kids.
Ginny, yes the yarn sure would be good for making my donation items but I do already have a lot for that purpose so I may rethink ordering.
I saw the video of the person making the quilt that Phyl is talking about. It really does look beautiful. Dh was talking about wall hangings for our bedroom after we get it painted. I told him I have to make a quilt to coordinate with the colors of the walls...not to hang but to actually have for the bed. Well that's never going to happen but it's a nice thought.Maybe I should make a small quilted wall hanging.
And yes, everyone please do remember to stay hydrated. I'm not good at that but I need to do better esp here and where Meg is where there's no humidity but it's important for everyone. Especially as we age we don't feel thirst.
Last night I was thinking of making a really pretty pair of fingerless that had the star stitch in it. I've never made a star stitch before and couldn't make heads nor tails of what the designer of the pattern was talking about. She had a link to a video there so I had to resort to looking at that. Well it sure is complicated so I quickly crossed that one off my list and started a different pair but only got one glove done so second one today. I don't know if it's still too wet to work outdoors or not. I imagine it's all dried up by now. Doesn't stay wet like it used to back in NY, but it sure is cool out so maybe a little in the garage then crocheting.
Have a great day everyone and Ginny, enjoy your day out for parade and lunch.

Good evening!
Ruth, I hope that your tomato plants came back from the hail damage. What s quirky thing the weather is. Of course you could make a wall hanging!!! Precut fabrics make it so easy... I do understand though how much more portable crochet is. I wonder if you rethought that yarn or ended up ordering itt.
All in all here a good day. We saw the parade (small) and had a nice lunch out. Good to be home.....I did finish the fg for my friend, all I needed to to was weave in the ends. For some reason that simple task was a mental hurdle for me.
Work tomorrow....4 weeks left.
Have a good evening Ginny

well I have an hour to decide on the yarn but I think I'll pass on it for now New sales come up all the time
We had a couple more thunder storms this evening but thankfully no hail
I saw damage in CJ's state so I hope she's ok
I worked on a pair of men's fgs and tore out and restarted at least six times...told you I'm stubborn. I also emailed the designer not expecting to get an answer until at least tomorrow but got one a couple hours later. What a great person she is for taking that time. I think she has a husband and two small boys. She also was detailed in her answers to the questions I asked her so she's definitely one that is consciencious aobut her work. And her patterns are free! Before I got her email I had figured out what I was doing wrong but she confirmed it so I was really happy about that. I wrote her back and thanked her profusely for her diligence.
Ginny, I'm glad you enjoyed the parade even though it might have been small and also the lunch out. And congratulations on getting the fingerless gloves for your friend done. Yes sometimes those things are mental blocks for me too and I keep putting them off. I dont know what's on the agenda for tomorrow. Today dh found and hung a plant hanger outside and put a hummingbird feeder on it.It's in a perfect place for watching them and in a handy place for replacing the food in it and out of the way of cats...neighbor has at least six.
Meg, I hope you're having a good evening knitting and/or listening to books or reading
Phyl, I hope you're feeling ok and that you had a good day doing something you enjoyed
I never have heard back from that man that stopped and asked me about my truck. He seemed like he'd been reluctant to come to the door and knock so maybe he's waiting to see one of us outdoors. I'm not in any hurry to sell it so I don't really care if he stops by.
See you all tomorrow

good morning, pretty quiet weekend here. did not venture to far in the hot sun over the weekend.
I should be cleaning. might do some of it yet. might go to my playpen.
The charm square quilt I want to make into a baby quilt or youth size quilt and give it to the charity gals to give to the children's home.I sure don't need a 50x50 picnic size quilt.
it is all bandana fabric. some I had here, some I bought 1/4 yards at walmart and hobby lobby. even found some fat quarters at walmart.
colors are red, yellow, turquoise, kind of a light orange one 2 different pinks, reds and blues.I do have 72 charms cut out.so probably could get two baby quilts out of it. phyl

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Sorry for not posting. I'm really struggling with several issues right now and I just need to have a break from everything sometimes. I really appreciate all your thoughts and support though phyl - I made one of the Charm Square On Point quilts and it ended up about 40x40, so I guess adding a border would make it larger. Here's the website with instructions for the way I made mine. It's different than the one at Missouri Star Quilt Company, but I thought it was easier than trying to make those two diagonal cuts the way you have to with that quilt, but I'm sure they both work out fine: www.modabakeshop.com/2017/11/on-point-baby-quilt.html#more-43631Ginny - I'm glad you enjoyed the parade. We used to go to a 4th of July parade all the time when I was a child, sadly there aren't parades around here anymore. Ruth - I'm glad your storms weren't too bad. I did not get all the rain that they did farther north in Ellicott City where the flooding was. It's such a nice, historic town, and so sad that they have the damage again less than 2 years after the last flood. Meg - Hope your weather is cooler and that you are enjoying your plants. I haven't been doing much crafting. I have to get the things done with the house first and then work on some decluttering before I can let myself craft. I've realized that is what is holding me back from feeling creative. So hopefully I can start moving forward with those matters. The weather here yesterday was very cool, in the 60s, but it's warmer today and it has been humid for several days. Take care everyone!

CJ, as you know I don't know a thing about quilting but I went to that site and ...well, wow...that's amazing. Only thing she didn't have on her list of needed supplies is batting. You have to put batting in all actual quilts, correct? I know on here she was just doing the top though so maybe thats why although she did mention backing fabric. I'm very glad to see you CJ. I was praying that the floods and horrible rain wasn't in your area. I can imagine how you feel about now with the roofers putting you off. Makes a person feel so helpless. I had a dream like that last night only it was about my car not my roof but I was being constantly ignored. Another dreary rainy day here. It's very overcast and wet so guess I'll just have to sacrifice doing yard work and stay inside and crochet....oh the pain Phyl, your quilt is going to be beautiful. Are you making it with those bandanas you mentioned before or is this new fabric with bandana designs. It's so great of you to make a baby quilt for the children's home. I'm sure they will appreciate it.We have several safe houses here and then the rescue mission that has a women and childrens area so there are so many that need things. And of course there are always those that do have their own living space but are still poor and can't afford nice things for themselves or their children.

Good morning!!
Phyl the bandana quilt sounds adorable, and will be a lovely gift for a charity use or raffle. Such a cute idea- and the bandana fabric is cheerful. Yes, now I remember a week or so ago you mentioned it, and I just plain forgot. Opps......sorry.
Ruth, yes there are yarn sales all the time- and perhaps an even better one the next time around. That designer sounds like a great person- taking the time to quickly respond to your question.
Ok , I started this hours ago.....going to post it and see who else checked in G

Hello everyone, It was hot yesterday and hotter today high is 97 so I have stayed home though I should have gone to post a letter. I have the A/C on so it is cool in the house. I don't like to leave letters in my mail box for the mailman. We have had mail stolen so it is better to find a mail box. One of the grocery stores has a P.O. which is very handy. I did a lot of crafting yesterday and I am finishing off the b/blanket that I am crocheting. I have a lot of ends to weave in. Then I have 3 UFOs to finish so I may tackle those.
I have seen the flooding on the news so I hope none of you are near those areas. My DGD lives in Florida and I think heavy rain was expected there.
Ginny, I feel guilty if I stay up late reading and then sleep really late in the morning. I would really like to have more normal sleeping hours though it really doesn't matter when I choose to sleep. I am really a night owl.
Phyl, you sound much more relaxes in your posts. That is a nice idea to make a quilt for a child in a children's home. I worked in a children's home many years ago and I am sure those girls would have loved to have had their own quilt.
Ruth, Did you see the program they had on PBS to honor veterans especially the WW2 veterans as there are not many of them still alive. I didn't see the whole program but it was very well done. Yes as a military wife I got involved in a lot of military activities as a volunteer. It was a good life. We didn't buy a lot of plants but they seem to be doing very in their pots at the front of the house. We are going to show Devin how to water them as he is old enough to take care of that chore.
cj, I hope the roofers show up bright and early. You mentioned that they will show up late morning which seems odd to me as most roofers like to get started early before it gets too hot. Then they can quit when it gets too hot up on the roof. Good luck.
I will probably do some crafting this evening. I need to start a new audio book. I am waiting for the next Poldark book I think it is No.7 but is not an audio book so I will not be able todo any crafting while I read it.
Take care and have a good evening.

Cj- glad you made it through the storm/rain ok. I do not know but are you going to be impacted by the hurricane as it makes its way north? (Pretty sure I am getting that rain on thursday....so you might also). Well the past few months have been a lot for you and the prospect of our personal castles being damaged by a storm is surely no picnic. The process has actually gone well for you, seems like you have gotten the results you want, but the timing has been awfully slow. Bet that frustrates the heck out of you. Decluttering is a pain in the neck and for some super difficult. Noone wants to throw out too much and find out that they got rid of something they might have cherished. My mom was completely stymied by the process of getting rid of her stuff....which left that mess for me. ( I am still getting rid of her stuff!!!). Take your time, start slowly....perhaps reading a book or blog on decluttering might help. I know my local library actually had a class on it (given by someone who was selling her decluttering servicea). Perhaps you could find help that way.
Got the same hot humid weather as CJ- I dislike this weather.
Have a good night Ginny

Meg, yes Devin is definitely old enough to have chores htat he is responsible for and keeping the plants alive will be a good thing for him to do. No I didn't see that PBS program. I keep forgetting that I can change over to local channels and watch PBS. I used to love watching some of the programs they have on there. Phyl, thanks for the info. I'm sure the quilt will be beautiful Ginny, I hope you day at work was a good one. It's nice that it will be a short week. Sun finally came out here but it still is sprinkling off and on. ON that fg I started last night, it is made with post stitches and supposedly bobbles but she needed to have people make the bobbles with more stitches because they don't even show up using the bigger hook. I also had to adjust the finger area because it was too big. I had dh try them on as they're men's gloves. The were too big around the wrist area but many fg designers don't make the pattern so that the gloves come in some at the wrist to make it more snug there so I think I'll use the pattern to base my own pattern on using some decreases then increases for the palm area then decrease again like I did this morning to make the finger area more snug...about like I did make this one. Spent the day trying to organize some more. I don't know if any of you have had this experience or not but I must have at least 20 tops for large storage bins and probably the same number for smaller bins of various sizes but I have no bins for them. what can happen to bins? I'm sure they don't walk away on their own and we sure never threw any of them away. I would think it would be more common to lose the tops than the bins. In working on that I found 4 more pairs of fgs that I made recently and set aside to clear up my crafting area... again the living room couch. I know I had more somewhere because I missed a couple colors that I knew I had made. I also found 4 skeins of yarn hidden behind some bins where they must have fallen at some time Oh and bad thing about the glove I made last night and finished this morning is that I don't think I have enough yarn to make the second glove . Well if not I'll just take the first one out and make it shorter because it does come up the arm a ways more than it really needs to Have a fantastic evening all

Good morning!
Ruth, the last pair of fg I made for my friend I had to modify the pattern to make the cuff area larger to accomodate her hands/wrists. For me, it was too big- but she said it fit her perfectly. My advice to you is to just write down what you have done - so the next time you make that pattern you have a record of how you modified the pattern. Like tupperware containers, I think those plastic storage bins travel, going on vacation in other peoples homes.....that is the only way it seems to work out why we have lids that do not fit bottoms- but plenty of lids and plenty of bottoms. And you do know that those plastic shopping bags multiply in our closets at night....so we end up with tons of them. Of course, I am kidding.
Getting my hair done, then off to motor vehicle for Dh.
have a great day Ginny
