CELESTE- when we moved in, the first thing we did was replace windows, too. 28 of them! And our house is brick, so about 5 years ago we had rock wool insulation blown in. We upgraded heating, cooling and hot water heater. Basically every energy efficiency thing we could do, we have done. So for the 3 story house with 10 foot ceilings, we pay $234 a month for electric year round, $104 for gas, and only $60 for water. Of course, sewer is lumped in with municipal fees and is probably another $40. I don't think that's bad for a house this big.
DH went to the awards dinner for yesterday's fishing tournament. He won a raffle prize for a guided one day fishing trip for the two of us on the New River in Virginia. Just need to take it before the end of the year. Should be fun.
Need to go walk the dog and get ready for last night of work this week. Yay!

LOL it's not nearly as humid or hot as yesterday. I can work in 90 something for a while with this lower humidity, but those humid day...ugh.
BECKY thats good you are calling your NP. Your foot should still be hurting so much. And no, I didnt put on sunscteen or bugspray. I need to do better with both. I had a visor on, but usually am smarter and wear a hat.
CELESTE I agree on the dryer vent, I dont like the vent on the roof. Nor do I like the way many nee builds put the water heater in the attic.
Off to take a load out of the washer, shower and cook.

RYAN and KRISTIN have only replaced maybe 1/2 of their windows. THey actually did it the same week they moved in. But between moving one week and having a baby 2 weeks later, the house has kind of taken a back seat and they wind up doing stuff to fix/replace as it comes up. This house LOOKED great but scratch the surface and it was a... well a 125 year old house! It's in a neighborhood w/ a school where they'll probably be the rest of their lives and it's big enough they can have a couple of kids and still have a couple of guest rooms in addition to the "music rooms" in the basement. It's going to take him a while to be able to fix all of the things that need fixing and then it will be something ELSE> Well you're in a very old house so you know what I'm talking about. I guess the most important things for him in order were good schools, good neighborhood, sufficient space and then the rest he can deal with. But YES $234 for a house that big w/ 3 stories and high ceilings! Not bad at all. Nice on the win! I love Virginia. SUZE I thought I'd wait until you come for a visit and send you up on my roof!! My hot water heater is a tankless built into the wall of my garage so that's an easy access but my HVAC is in the attic. I'm kind of torn. It doesn't take up any precious room up there, but forget about MY trying to access it. Luckily my 3 air filters are in the ceiling. Again STUPID for an older adult community to make us get on ladders every month but better than being in the attic. I changed them all out last week but I have to say I did get dizzy at one point when I was trying to push the hinged vent cover down. BUt I WAS smart enough not to do it in flip flops like I usually do. SUZE I'll confess that I LITERALLY have not put my nose or any other body part outside the door, except on my patio when it was shady, for less than 60 seconds. I roasted a chicken in the oven. Yeah why not heat up the entire house. I put it over left over angel hair, then put 1/4 cup of chicken gravy from a jar (that stuff is LOW in calories!). Roasted a few whole carrots and a salad. Delish. I also did all my laundry and hung, folded and put it away. I guess that's how I got 5K steps b/c mostly I feel like I sat on my arse.

Can I do it when its about 80 degrees? 90 is a little warm to be on a roof...don't know how roofers do it! My only thing is when that regular water heaters or even HVAC unit may start to drip a bit. Oy! Thats trouble. The ONE thing that scares me is water damage. Ik and maybe an infestation of some kind...
I too decided to heat the house... peppers arein the oven and cooked two chicken breasts that were thawed. Add a salas or veggie and dinners/lunch are cooked for the week.

Celeste Believe me...I will not eat anything made by Purina.Scooter's Frosty Paws are safe.In fact I have one thawing for her now. When I get them out of the freezer they are hard as a rock.So I leave them out until they are the consistency of soft serve. This dog doesn't get the original flavor. She gets the Peanut Butter flavor. She loves PB on crackers,in ice cream, you name it she will eat PB on anything.Spoiled much?
Our co-op only discounts once a year but what I don't understand they even send checks to people who used to be customers and no longer belong. This is the only thing available in rural areas. It's like the only internet we can get is satellite internet and I only have the choice of 2 companies. My 2 yr contract ends on the 11th and I don't know if I want to chance going to the other company or not.Everyone complains about the one I have now but I don't stream movies so I don't need extremely fast internet.Kenneth & Scooter went outside after dinner and they are both still out there. He's probably in his truck talking on the phone. At least I hope so.Scooter is probably under the porch where it's cool.I do hope Bob's mom doesn't suffer and everything goes as smoothly as it can.
Suze I hope you have been hydrating since you came back in.The bottom of my foot hurt a little last time I rode the bike and it hurts some on top so now it doesn't seem to hurt as much I think.Of course when I decide I'm going to call the NP it's trying to act right.I will see how it feels in the morning.
Celeste I'm with you on not going outside.I haven't stuck my head out the door since I let Scooter in after lunch and it wasn't too unbearable then but it got up to 98 again. It was 100 at Camp Mabry and 99 at the airport in Austin.I haven't even reached 9000 steps today and I doubt I'll even try.I did 20 min on the bike 3 times today and that's enough. With going to church on Sunday's(and I wouldn't give that up just for steps)I don't normally meet my step goal on Sunday.

Hey all. DH has a monthly blood treatment for his MS. It's called plasma apheresis (sp). It's similar to a transfusion. They take his blood out his arm, it goes through a machine that separates the plasma out and then his blood with new plasma goes in the hand. The procedure is done monthly and takes about 3-4 hours. He has been doing this for about 10 years and goes to Yale New Haven Hospital for it. It was deemed experimental when he first started with it, but finally they were able to prove it helps stabilize MS symptoms and progression is now covered through insurance. He feels lousy for 3 or 4 days after the treatment, but then feels good until 3 or 4 days before the next treatment. It helps with fatigue and overall MS symptoms.
I feel bad for you ladies with your 100 degree temps. It's actually chilly tonight. It's about 55 right now. Windows that were open are now closed and I have slippers and my heavy robe on.
Okay, happy Monday, night.

JT I had forgotten your DH has MS.My former sis-in-law has it and one other person I know has it.I hope he continues to do well.
Did not meet step goal today but that's okay.Stayed within dailies even with the snacks I eat.I don't know if I've ever used my weeklies on the regular SP.I'm just trying to stay as close to 30 points as I can.I have had trouble in the past getting enough points so when I get close now I'm happy.
G'night ladies.

For you SUZE, yes you can wait until it's back to the 80's. ANd OMG on roofers right now. Our main amenity center is being reroofed due to last year's hail storms and it's a HUGE facility w/ a METAL ROOF! Can you imagine how hot to handle that metal gets? That's like reroofing while sitting on a skillet.
BECKY we're not rural here but I guess when they were setting up power providers we were. I don't know if we ever get out from under the co-op or if it's forever.
JT I thought somehow I missed that part about DH's health issue. I know he had back surgery so I'm not 100% forgetful. The MS part sounds vaguely familiar. My ex's current wife has it. I don't know if she has many issues or any treatment. I believe she's in remission or whatever a lull in symptoms of MS is called. That's great that the plasma procedure has such good results. And a few days before and after is not ideal but not awful considering it helps a lot. And Yale is a place where I'd feel pretty confident in the procedure.
So Bob wanted ice cream and we don't keep it in the house. I don't eat much sweets but all of a sudden a hot fudge Sundae sounded great> So we went to Braums and I got 2 scoops choc ice cream w/ hot fudge. I DO NOT know the last time I had any kind of a sundae but I have to say it was GOOD. It will definitely be a sufficient SWEET treat to get me through the week.
ANd I have to say that the weather currently is really nice. Our wind shifted and is now from the north so the low is going to be 77 instead of well in the 80's. And it feels dry. I COULD go for a walk. But that's not happening.
And so I bid you g'nite and GAWD BLESS.

JT it's good to hear your DH has good results with the MS treatment. Best wishes for more good days than bad.
CELESTE I really like Braums ice cream. And boy, is it nice out there. We just came in from a walk...normally LU is climbing up the walls by 8 to walk, tonight I had to wake her up and prompt her, lol. She's tired.... took her about 5 minutes to fall asleep, head hanging off tge couch and all.
Night.
